System not resuming from stanby mode ---Solaris10
Dear Frnds,
I have a weird issue with solaris 10.
We bought a new Sun Ultra45 workstation and i installed solaris 10 in that.
The problem is when it goes to standby mode i am not able to resume the system. The only thing i can do is to manually reboot and start working.
The problem occurs when i am in user login.
I hope this could be a power management issue.
I even tried to disable the power managemnt settings but still it didnt workout.
Is there any bug with power management in solaris10..??
Any patch available to fix this issue.???
Anyone pls help me to fix this....

Hiya!
This issue has been answered numerous times for Office 2010 and Office 2007, but I have yet to any solutions or Hotfixes that work for Office 2013 (x64) on Win7.
How to replicate the issue:
Open a file from a network share.
Edit file.
Leave computer on with file open. Computer goes to sleep or into stand-by mode.
Wait a bit
Wake up computer
CPU opens file in Read-Only mode and gives you the following error "Word cannot establish a network connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes."
What I've tried:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434898 - Office 2007 registry fixes. Does not apply.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413659 - Office 2010 problem. This exact issue. Says 'No microsoft products that match this hotfix are installed'
Work Around:
I can saving new versions of these files overrides this issue, but this is sometimes not possible for end-users who only have specific access to ONE SPECIFIC FILE in a particular network share.
Please let me know how I can alleviate this issue!
Thanks
-ChrisHi,
Are those problematic documents created via previous versions of Office?
Please also try to run a repair of your Office 2013 installtion and check if it helps. See:

Sound not staying muted when resuming from Sleep mode
The subject says it all. When I resume from Sleep mode the sound is not staying muted. I have found a third party app to get around this but I would rather solve it without having to run something else in startup.
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-2206tx Entertainment Notebook running Windows 7 with all the latest updates installed.
Anyone know how to prevent this from happening?youngunix wrote:

What does "every OS" include? Just thinking if it includes something like Windows, say, that would point to something rather different than if the problem only manifests in Linux.
Have you seen if the problem occurs if you use the nouveau drivers?
I'm sorry dude, but there is something wrong with you!! In every thread, you just ask or make lame @$$ statements.
cfr is a regular presence around here and helps quite a lot of people. He was trying to get clarification so that your problem could be further debugged. You may think that his statements are "lame ass" but you attitude is "asshole". Don't come here looking for help and then tell those trying to help you that their help sucks. If that is how you show your appreciation for support, you should go elsewhere. -
T61 - WWAN does not connect when resuming from sleep mode
Hi.
I have a T61 with integrated WWAN, which works perfectly - except I use sleep mode a lot, and when i resume from sleep mode, WWAN doesn't connect, I always get the same error - IP configuration failed. If I restart my OS, WWAN works normally again.
So far i have tried on Windows XP, Vista 32, Vista 64 and Windows 7 32 bit - always the same!
I connect via Access Connections, maybe there is a known issue?
Thank you, BThis bugs me as well. With the new Verizon software I just installed, it says "Adapter Disabled" when I resume from sleep.
I suspect a driver bug that needs to be adressed.
I use Vista Business 32bit, but had the same problem with XP.

T60 Type 2623 Blue Screen on Resume from Sleep Mode problem solved - XP Pro
I hope that this post ends some frustrations for some people.
I hope that IBM deals with this issue by getting ATI to fix the video driver issue.
After three months of tracking down blue screens when resuming from Sleep Mode and some lockups while working, I have identified the problem on my T60 Type 2623 running Windows XP-Pro and all service packs and updates. The Sleep Mode resume issues were intermittant and it would be fine for a day or two and then reboot on Resume or reboot every time I used Resume for a while. For months the Blue Screen would reboot and attempt to send the message to Microsoft using the logs, but the logs were always corrupted. I disabled every driver that I could and the problem continued for months.
The problem solution came about when I decided to try my Rhapsody Music account after many months of not using it. I kept getting a message about DRM (Digital Right Management) being disabled and Rhapsody software could not self-fix this. So I finally called Rhapsody and they spent over an hour with me trying to get Rhapsody to work. The support person asked me about my computer and I noted that it was an IBM T60. He then asked about my Video Card and I responded that it was an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300. After a few minutes on hold he asked about my driver version which was 8.442.3-080103a1-057754C the set from January 31, 2008. He noted that there is a known problem wit the 8.4 driver and it interferes with DRM. He had me go to control panel Settings and Hardware and then roll-back the driver to the prior version.
After a reboot, the DRM issue was solved and I soon discovered that my resume from Sleep mode no longer crashed. In fact it has been fine and crash free for over a month now. I have noted that the older driver can sometimes resize my screen to something like 600 X 800 if I close the lid under certain circumstances, but that is just a function key reset to get my normal desktop resolution back. At least it is not a blue screen reboot with a corrupted log file.

Solved!
Go to Solution.Unfortunately I could not fix the problem so I wiped my system and loaded all new drivers before I found this posting.
Is there a way to get the old ATI driver that works? The only one available on the ATI and Lenovo website is the latest one with the problem. I agree with you David, Lenovo should have fixed this problem already with ATI.

IMac will not boot from any mode except Target Disk
I have an Early 2008 Penryn iMac 24" MB398LL/A running OS X 10.7.4 (see specs below) that will not boot from ANY mode, It also has several strange vertical bars from top to bottom on the screen. They are about 10 px wide, with some pixels empty and looks a bit like a barcode if you squint at it.
I have tried Safe Boot, Force Boot, DVD Boot, FireWire/USB Boot, and it always gets to the same point. It gets to the apple screen with the spinning gear and then after about 8 seconds it freezes. The only way it works at all is in Target Disk Mode. It pops right up on my Macbook Pro and I was able to grab all my info!
I have run Disc Utilities and Tech Tool on it many times from my MBP and it passes every test.
I reformatted the HD and installed 10.7 again, it still freezes up at the same point.
I have tried using Single User mode and every time have had to run /sbin/fsck -fy twice because it always says the disk is ok but it was modified on the first pass.
I thought maybe it had a bad video card or logic board but and I ran the Apple Hardware Test on many occasions and it always passes. Recently I was told about Loop Mode and just completed running the AHT for just over 30 hours without any errors at all.
UPDATE...
Strange Part… I tried installing Mountain Lion in Target Disk Mode and everything went smoothly. When it restarted on its own the lines on the screen were gone for the moment, but the Mac still freezes up on the spinning gear and immediately restarts on its own. I have run every thing listed above on it and still nothing. Sometimes the lines reappear then in two more starts they are gone.
I did manage to have it start one time got a copy of the the error report (its at the bottom too) The Mac ran for at least 30 minutes with no problems, then the screen went crazy a few seconds and it became unresponsive. The mouse moved but that was all it could do. Now my iMac continually restarts itself, I don't have any more ideas, HELP!

Screen flickers when resuming from sleep mode
I have a newly brought T430 laptop with the Nvdia graphics card. Sometimes when I resume from sleep mode, the screen flickers before entering into the desktop view.
Is this a problem or normal? I hope nothing is wrong with my gpu. Is there a way to check?
Thanks!etresoft wrote:
It is definitely not a Leopard bug because it has been happening on every portable Mac I've ever had.
I don't agree. I had no problems at all with my MacBook Pro running Tiger. I initially did an upgrade from Tiger to Leopard and when the problems started I assumed it was a problem with the upgrade. I then completely erased and did a clean install of Leopard. The problem has actually gotten worse since I did the clean re-install.

Just close the screen, wait for it to go back to sleep, then open it again. It will probably be fine.
As I mentioned in my opening post, I've gone through that song and dance more times than I can count. I've closed it, waited for as much as an hour, opened it back up...same problem. I've hard powered it down, closed it, disconnected the AC adapter, removed the battery, opened it, held down the power button for 15 seconds, re-installed the battery, reconnected the AC adapter, pushed the power button, and the display will still be dark. It's sometimes taken as many as 5 or 6 iterations of that process before it will finally reset whatever problem it was having and boot normally with a functioning display. -

MacBook pro 17" will not wake from sleep mode
Ok so my MacBook Pro 17" with osx 10.6.8 will not awaken from sleep mode. when attempting to wake it up the screen dosent come on and the mouse and keyboard do not receve any power. to get back on the computer i have to force a hard restart by holding the power button for 10 seconds then pressing it again. then it boots to where i left off when i closed the lid. i have read a few forums about this problem and i have went through all the steps of reseting various things and went as far as going into terminal using sudo to disable safe sleep and nothing helps. i noticed an unusual error in my console. here is a copy of my console log. the one in question is {7/14/13 4:52:43 AM com.apple.UserEventAgent-Aqua[118] dontAutoLoad = EMPTY!} someone please help me I am over 150 miles from the nearest apple store or authorised retailer

IPhone 1.1.4 will not wake from sleep mode
Hi all,
I have an iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware. The problem that I have is that the phone will not wake from sleep mode by pressing the "home" button. I have to press both the "home" and "sleep/power" buttons and hold them for 6 seconds for the phone to restart. I did restore the phone twice - did not solve the problem. Then, one day, I left it charging for about 3 days and when I came back it started working fine. Not for long though( After about a week of normal usage the wake up problem came back. I don't know what to do. I don't think it's the software problem, since I did complete restoration 2 times.
If the phone is connected to a charger or computer - it wakes up fine.
Thanks, Gene K

When you've restored the iPhone, have you tried setting it up as a new phone? This would truly eliminate software as a possibility.
If setting it up as a new phone doesn't correct the issue, it's probably time for service: apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
Hope this helps,

High CPU load after resuming from sleep mode
When my laptop resumes from sleep mode, LabVIEW 2012 starts to generate a very high and always constant CPU load (25%) without any VI running. I need to close all front panels to get back to the usual <1% CPU load level.
This behaviour spoils my carbon footprint and frequently eats up my battery. Any ideas what is causing this ?
Thank you,
DirkI'm guessing your issue may be related to this:

Msi Z68 GD65 (B3) will not resume from sleep with multiplier above 43
I have an i5 2500k that is otherwise stable (can pass prime95 for hours) at 4.4 ghz, but no matter what I do I cannot get my computer to resume from sleep properly when I go over 4.3 ghz. At 4.3 ghz it resumes from sleep fine, but once the multiplier goes over 43 it simply will not resume. The monitor stays in standby mode, but my PC's fans spin up and my keyboard backlight turns on.
I have tried disabling and enabling pll overvoltage, but it does not help.
It resumes from hibernation fine, but that takes quite a bit longer than resuming from sleep because the POST on this board isn't particularly fast.
This happened both with my previous card (560 ti) and my current card (7950), so I seriously doubt it is a GPU issue. I have a seasonic x750 PSU, so I doubt it is a power issue. I have very good cpu cooling and my temperatures are pretty low even under load. Is this a board defect? I see that ASUS boards had a similar issue that was apparently fixed, but I can't find as much info about an MSI isssue.Being an experienced OC'er, then you know that trial and error is the tried and true time honored method in the attempt to solve problems. The solution I would recommend is to accept an OC of 4.3, stick with hibernation, or continue with experimentation of combinations of settings, or you can hope someone comes along that 'may' know of a 'solution'.

Big difference between 'apparently' fixed and actually fixed. You might try MSI Technical, but it may be interesting what they say once they know OC'ing is involved.

Thank you for the patronizing response. Does anyone have a response that is actually useful instead of generic "you don't know what OCing does" comments? I have been OCing for years; I know what it does to a system. I am looking for SOLUTIONS here.
Some friendly advice is to watch the attitude, or not many will be inclined to offer any assistance at all. Yours is not a situation that the mainboard is non functional, and is more related to an OC'ing behavior. -

Harish SSounds like maybe the eject mecinisim is stuck..? Try inserting a CD or DVD and then Eject it to see if that makes a difference.
If not, try reseting both the SMC and PRAM
as per > Resetting the System Management Controller
and > Resetting your Mac's PRAM
Then if it is still acting up, contact Apple or your local AASP

Apple TV needs Restart for Airplay especially after resuming from Sleep Mode
1. I always have to restart my Apple TV for Airplay when I resume it from Sleep Mode. Neither my MAC not my PC nor my iPhone/iPad can connect to Airplay if it's not retsarted. I did a complete Factory Reset of Apple TV thinking it would be the best way of troubleshooting but in vein. Any help/suggestion/tips from anybody please?
2. Also - Does Apple TV needs internet always for Airplay? I guess that should work on the LAN even if there is no internet connectivity, Correct?
Regards,Hey loftysub,
I'd check out the following article, it should be able to help you out:

Regarding the issue here, please restart the computer and press F8 until you see the

if it starts with no problem, please check if you have the option boot from safe mode checked:
run->type msconfig->tab boot->boot options, check if the
safe boot is selected, if yes please uncheck it. Then restart the computer to check if this problem still exists.
If the system needs repair, please take a look into the below WIKI article, and check the event viewer to see if any errors for further troubleshooting.:
