System rebooting during heavy cpu tasks

I have a K7N2 (MS-6570) board with 1GB ram using 2 mushkin PC2700 ram sticks running win2k with the latest bios and nvidia drivers.
When I try to perform intensive CPU tasks such as running the united devices distributed program or the distributed.net applications, render images or even build large source code modules the system reboots with no warning.
Occasionally I'll play a game and in the middle of it the system hangs and then claims I've executed invalid instructions and windows kernal gets corrupted and then reboots.
During rendering I get random STOP 0x errors, never the same one twice.
The timings are at 166fsb, memory at 1:1 (333mhz) clock at 12x5 CPU speed at 2088 mhz.
If I use auto-defaults memory timings goes to 7-3-3-2.5 but the mushkin website claims the ram should be at 2-2-2 so I set it that way and still I get wierd errors.
This is the 6th memory pair I've tried so far, could I possibly have a bum board or processor instead?
Is there a "safe" memory timing I can try to see if its the ram or my system itself thats bad.  I'm close to giving up on this board and going the intel route.

Whew.
I'm glad you had the spare supply; I usually recommend "trying before buying" anything, unless, of course, one has lots of cash to blow.
I also wanted to tell you that, if your 2.03 driver method doesn't work, try this:
Go to Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG, press Enter, press the Services tab, check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, press the Disable All button, select the Startup tab, press the Disable All button, Apply, OK, and Restart.
After the reboot, try your games again, and see what happens. If everything's ok, then go back and enable the startup services one at a time, and try playing again until you find the offending service. If all is ok, do the same with the Services tab, until you find the offending Service.
(I spent hours online with Microsoft on this a couple of months ago, and this method found that the intermittent crashing problem was caused by one of the nVidia services.)
So far, I have had four causes of this type of problem (BSOD, spontaneous reboot, freezing):
1) Corrupted OS/driver
2) Poor power
3) Bad RAM
4) Startup Service
Of course, #1 and #4 don't cost anything but time and effort to fix, and should be tried first, unless anything is grossly wrong, like an underrated supply, and/or ram which won't pass memtest, which one should replace anyway. (I've got a lifetime warranty on the RAM, and only had to return it for replacement.) So the only thing that cost me to repair this problem completely was the replacement of the PSU, and it was the very last thing I did.
Were I to do it over again, I would have replaced the PSU before I actually put the replacement RAM in, because I risked damaging the new RAM (and the old stick too) with my old 300W supply. (However, I was on a severe cost restriction which influenced my decision, making the "free fixes" the priority.)
Hope this helps.

  • X230: what is expected temperature during heavy CPU load?

    Hello all,
    after few seconds of heavy CPU usage on my x230 termal sensors show temperature slightly above 100 degrees celsius. I think it's way to high and probably should call the service to replace the fan, clean the heatsink etc, but wanted to make sure.
    For comparison, my previous machine (x201) did not ever go above 85 degrees during similar tasks.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Welcome morgwai
    Probably your heatsink is clogged with dusk or the thermal paste between your heatsink and Intel CPU dried up, causing poor heat transfer. Even in full load, the CPU temp should not exceed 90C.
    I suggest that you contact Tech Support to replace the fan.

  • System reboots with high CPU load: Advice?

    I built this system (in sig) just under a week ago; all works fine.  3 days ago, when running a game (specifically; Dark Age of Camelot, 2x instances == 100% CPU load) the PC rebooted 3 times in a row.
    Shortly thereafter, I reinstalled the OS (Win XP Pro SP1 + all windows updates) and the PC continued working fine for about 30 hours, then again began to reboot.  At this time I disconnected the 2nd hard drive I had installed.
    Just a little bit ago, it again rebooted out of the blue.  The system halts, the hard drive spins down and back up, then the system reboots.
    This smacks, to me, of a power supply issue.  4 hours of memtest86 resulted in no errors.
    CPU is running at 28 degrees idle at the moment, I've seen it go as high as 52 when it's been operating at 100% for several hours without a break.  Case temperature is 34 degrees at idle, and I have seen it peak at 42.  I don't think temperature is the issue here, but I could be wrong.  I have 3 fans in the case, all 80mm- side rear and top mounted; side intake, rear and top exhaust.
    Okay anyway... thoughts?  I am thinking power supply.  I am pretty noobish at this whole business and I get the impression that the PS that came with my case is crapola.

    Heh 50+ has always just set off alarm bells in my head.  No reason and good to hear that the temps I'm getting are reasonable.  I was freaking out that my case's cooling sucked, 'cause I laid the fans out as best I could.    What really freaked me out was the Core Center utility that MSI provides, gave some seriously weird temperatures.  Now using Motherboard Monitor 5 and it seems to give much more reasonable temps.  (Ex: Core Center would report temp at 55c idle, going down to 32c 10 seconds later, then 44 as soon as I moved the mouse.... all over the place.  MbM5 seems to provide much more realistic scaling in the temps.)
    As for Oklahoma, southwest part a bit up from the texas border- little town called Duncan.  It's hot, it's humid, and I've already had to hide in the storm cellar a couple of times from nasty storms.  Just moved here 2 months ago after being on the pacific my whole life.  :D

I have defaulted CMOS but my problem is, The system randomy locks up (freezes) and during applications or when its thinking, it ill shut down! At 1st i was convinced it was over heating but, I got new case and power supply and still restarts mostly when playing game or installing game
    Any Ideas what I can do to stop lock up or stop system from restarting?
    Im now thinking its ram but, I want everyone opinon!

    Thank You both for helping!
    The ram I am using is on the list and will be returned!
    Also too the list the " Mushkin PC400 " looked to be good so, Iam going to buy 2 gigs of it!
    Also thanks for heads up on mushkin and the help with PSU. Looks as if alot people having issues with this deck and you are right, its picky!
    Atleast this problem appears to be fixed thanks

  • PT880 Neo-FSR Reboot During Gameplay

    First, thanks to all who will read and hopefully reply to this post.  Your volunteer tech support is much appreciated.
    I recently build my first computer (specs in sig) and am currently having issues with my system rebooting during any gameplay that utilizes my graphics card.  After 4-5 minutes of gameplay my game will freeze for 10 seconds or so and then my monitor will lose signal and my system appears to reboot but never actually reboots.  In BIOS my cpu temp appears to be running in the low 50s C and case in the high 40s C though Motherboard Monitor shows a steady cpu temp of 44-48 C and a case temp of 34-37 C.  While this would appear high to me, I don't believe it is the culprit as I have used fairly cpu intensive apps in XP without any crashes or reboots.
    I've read numerous threads on this board and others offering several potential fixes for issues with ATI cards and I have tried the following: set AGP to 4x from 8x, disabled fastwrites, changed AGP frequency from 66.6 to other settings, upped AGP voltage to 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8v, upped DDR voltage to 2.7v, upped Northbridge voltage to 1.68, disabled and enabled hyperthreading, and tried various incarnations of the catalyst drivers.
    I also ran memtest86 for one pass tonight and returned 13,538 errors, though this is the same memory I was using in my previous system with this same card and a slower (P4 1.5 ghz) processor and I never received these reboots during games.
    I have not attempted to flash my bios to a more current version because as this is my first time building a computer I am not at all confident that I wouldn't screw something up in the process and end up with a dead board; not to mention in all the similar threads I've read, updating the bios hasn't fixed this problem.
    I've read that my +12v (16A) may be too low for a prescott 3.2; however, since my system seems to do fine with everything except for games, I'm inclined to believe that this is an ATI/MSI compatibility issue rather than a power supply issue.  That being said, I am very much a newbie at this and will take any and all advice given seriously, but would like to avoid shelling out $50-60 for a new PS after I just spent ~$300 for a new CPU/mobo.
    Thanks again for reading and responding and I'll do my best to answer any follow up questions to details I'm sure I missed.

    Well my problem is now officially more confusing now :(
    I installed my new memory and I'm still getting relatively the same number of errors in memtest test #7.  I tried numerous different configurations such as single vs. dual channel, 333mhz vs. 400mhz RAM speeds, voltages, etc. with no significant changes.  My gaming is a little more stable but it appears this is only true in multiplayer games.  Here's a breakdown of the games I tested:
    Halflife2 single player: Played for 10 minutes, no crash
    Halflife2 multiplayer: Played for 15 minutes, no crash
    Doom3 single player: played for 2-3 minutes, game froze and system became non-responsive
    Starwars Battlefront single player: crashed 30 seconds in, game froze and monitor signal was lost
    Starwars Battlefront multiplayer: played for 10-15 minutes, no crash
    Wolfenstein Enemy Territory multiplayer: played for 10-15 minutes, no crash
    I would say that my problem occurs whenever I play a game that taxes my system more since the multi settings are generally lower than single player; however, that doesn't explain why halflife 2 single player works.  Since my RAM is new I would say the problem is my vid card except I was using this same vid card on my last system with these same games and never got these kinds of crashes.
    The only other thing I can think of is that maybe my RAM slots are bad since my brand new RAM generated the same number of errors during the same test in memtest.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Hi there, i had the exact same problem and posted a thread a few above yours, and these forums wasnt much help nobody replied, so i did a bit of research and followed all the intructions on this site: http://www.gearsoftware.com/cfknowledgebase/articledisplay.cfm?articleid=296
    If you follow the steps very carefully and do as each says, this will solve your problem.. Now i am very happy i can actually install iTunes and use it for my iPod.
    Remember to be carefully with the steps as the things you will be deleting are very important to your comp.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cpu speed is clocked down during heavy use (msi x79a-gd45) ?

    Hi
    I overclocked my cpu, intel i7 3930K, 32 gb ram win 7 on msi x79a-gd45
    cpu base clock : 100
    adjust cpu ratio 42
    intel turbo disabled
    dram freq @1600
    cpu core temp 1.290
    hyper thread enabled
    Everything else is auto
    This pc is running at 4.2 in general but when I do render type heavy cpu rendering cpu speed starts going down to 2900, they oscillate betwen 4200 and 2900/2700. I am trying to get it start around 4000. TO me it is kind of pointless that the cpu would clock down when I need them not too. I do not mind if they are clocked down when they are not in use.
    I have 750 W with corsair hydro h60
    I asked this issue before but I was not able to resolve. I am hoping that someone else might be able to help me out here .
    thanks

    Yes, with a Turbo OC on the Core Ratios (set them all to 44X) in CPU Features sub menu plus the CPU V. and CPU Ratio must both be set to Auto. EIST and C1E enabled. Enhanced Turbo enabled. Overspeed Protection disabled.
    If the mainboard also has the VDroop option, then set it to 100%. Have you tried the CPU Ratio OC at 44X with the CPU V. in Auto already? If it is stable, then no need to try the Turbo method of OC. With CPU V. in Auto, you can enable EIST and C1E and get power saving features to work. CPU V. must be in Auto for the voltage to decrease at low use or idle (33C).
    Hi  PirateDog
    Thanks for your reply, very helpful
    So I now have
    Cpu base 100
    ratio 44
    EIST enabled (intel turbo disabled, enhanced turbo disabled)
    Dram auto
    Cpu Core V auto
    C1E Enabled
    C-State disabled
    Cpu Phase Control Disabled
    VDroop +%100
    This setup seemed to push my average cpu temps by around 7C degrees, so I am around 64C if all are at max. I am not sure if this issue is from another place but worth mentioning. I am not sure if this is still in the good range. On the other hand this setup seems to lower my average idle temps couple degrees.
    Before I was using
    Cpu base 100
    ratio 44 Cpu Core V auto
    Dram 1600
    and everything else was either disabled or set to auto
    Any further recommendations?
    thanks

  • Safari hangs and forces a system reboot

    This happens more frequently recently. Out of the blue, Safari (v8.0.3) under OS X 10.10.2 freezes OS X completely and the system reboots. It happens on simple HTML only websites that don't require any scripts - e.g. forums. The screen resolution appears to be lowered when logging back in, but once the system has loaded everything seems to be normal (even Safari remembers all the sites).
    Aside from the ongoing WiFi issues, Yosemite is the first Apple OS that seems to crash frequently on me...
    Who else is experiencing these issues?
    2012 MacBook Pro Retina
    16 Gb, 512 Gb SSD

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
    You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
            Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
            Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
            The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
    The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
    Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it. Then go to the next step.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • Server hangs or freezes during heavy load

    During peak times of the day, especially during heavy load on the Calendar Server,
    the application seems to hang. The client side application will not respond on
    the user's desktop, and uni* commands on the server itself respond considerably
    slow.
    <P>
    There are two parameters in the server configuration file that are strongly
    believed to be a trigger of server hangs or freezes in large deployments and/or
    busy servers. Here is a description of the problem:
    <P>
    Large deployments tend to be 3000+ users per node. This could be a single or
    multi-node environment.
    <P>
    A lock manager fix was implemented in 4.0 to correct a problem that was
    found in 3.51 where the server would hang. At that time, the parameters called
    read/writelocktimeouts
    were introduced as a failover mechanism in case the
    database was not available, which would then trigger the client process to
    disconnect rather than hang the whole server.
    <P>
    These timeouts effectively will terminate a process whose read or write exceeds
    the specified periods. The default of 20 seconds is quite a large amount of time;
    however, it is not totally unlikely that such a value could be met on a
    very busy system. If this is the case, and there is some relation between a
    process being terminated by one of these timeouts and subsequent system
    instability, then the "solution" would not be to extend the values of the
    timeouts but rather to exclude them. This way, it will ensure that no process is
    terminated this way and therefore the process would be allowed to continue until
    it had completed its job.
    <P>
    The timeouts were not removed from the product, but under normal circumstances
    they probably won't be needed anymore anyhow. It seems that on a busy calendar
    server, setting the db timeout alarms may actually trigger the server to freeze.
    Below are some examples of errors that appear in the log files which show
    that the database is no longer accepting client requests:
    <P>
    db_VISTA ERROR -920 -> cst_d_open: d_open
    db_SchedBaseOpen: unable to open database
    probable cause: unilckd is down or "/users/unison/tmp/unisonlckm"
    was removed
    uniengd: database lock timeout
    ITEM: "NA,NA" <0,0>
    CLIENT: "unises", "A.02.80"
    INET-NAME:
    INET-ADDR:
    CALL: "SessionsInfoGet"
    <P>
    To make the fix:
    <OL>
    <LI>Using your favorite editor, edit the /users/unison/misc/unison.ini file.
    In the following section you will see these two parameters:
    <P>
    [ENG]
    writelocktimeout = 20
    readlocktimeout = 20
    <P>
    <LI>Place a "#" sign (or the appropriate comment symbol for your OS) in front of
    these two lines and save the file.
    <P>
    <LI>The server will now have to be restarted in order for the changes to take
    effect.
    </OL>

    This looks similar to what I'm seeing.
    DPM 2010, there's one backup set (for me a file server disk) that every time I try to run the initial replica on it the server hangs and needs to be rebooted by iLO. It doesn't just die suddenly, first the data stream on the backup stops then the OS becomes
    less responsive but there is no resource issue. trying to open event view will cause a few things to lock up then over a few mins the server is complete froze. like the disk drives have been locked.
    Suspecting McAfee, I added in all the exclusions, that didn't help so I added the process exclusions which are done by setting dpmra and csc to low risk and that didn't help either. I could reproduce it just by kicking off a backup for this one file servers
    drive so it's easy to test with.
    Tonight, I had some permissions in EPO to let me stop the scanning completely and disable the on-access scan and for the first time it worked!
    There is definitely an issue between DPM and McAfee beyond what is on MS's web page for AV checks.
    I don't have a workaround yet other than stopping the AV completely... Something to follow up on next week. For the moment I made some progress though.

  • During consolidation cpu goes 100%

    Hi,
    During consolidation CPU is going 100%.
    can you suggest me some performance tuning tips to improve the performance.
    HFM 9.3.1.2 Build.

    If you are concerned about the processor utilization AND you cannot simply upgrade your hardware AND consolidation time is not an issue for you, then the following registry changes may be for you :
    Key Tree,     Key Name,     Key Type,     Min Value,     Max Value,     Default Value,     Unit of Measure,     Description
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     MaxNumConcurrentConsolidations,     REG_SZ,     1,     8,          Consolidations,     Controls the nubmer of concurrent consolidations allowed per application server. Any consolidations executed above the value are queued as Scheduled Consolidations.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     NumConsolidationThreads,     REG_SZ,     1,     8,          Threads,     Controsl the multi-threading of consolidatiosn per application server. Lowering the value limits the system's utilization of system resources, resulting in slower consolidation performance.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     NumConsolidationsAllowed,     REG_SZ,     1,     20,     8,     Consolidations,     Controls the number of conslidations allower per application across all the application servers.

  • After update to IOS 7x some apps are crashing a lot & system Reboots!

    After installing IOS 7.1.1 on 1 x iPhone 4 16GB, 3x iPhone 4s 64GB and 1 iPad mini 64GB, Apps started crashing which worked well on IOS 5.5 &amp; IOS 6. After Updating to IOS 7, the problems started. Some of my favourite games like "Call Of Duty: Black Ops Zombies"and Avengers Initiative keep crashing at the start. "Call Of Duty" reported Low Memory even though I turned off Background App Refresh, Re-downloaded the Apps, performed full system reboot, enabled "Reduce Motion", enabled "Increase Contrast" and still no luck.  I have also deleted many of my Apps to free up storage space but still no improvement. Other problems major problems are that the screen freezes and Apps become unresponsive requiring a full system reboot. This happens very often and also when trying to update or download Apps the system crashes and often Reboots itself. I believe the main problem is with low memory because I ran an App called "Battery Doctor" which shows that 82% of the 512MB RAM is already been used before any Apps have even been started leaving only 89MB of free RAM which is hardly enough to run decent Games on. There are many occasions when FaceTime wouldn't allow Sign In and in iTunes Apps would revert to how they were after applying changes. When adding Contacts, changes would often revert back. Also I have noticed that the iPhone sometimes would display the wrong amount of free Storage space and it would sometimes show like 5GB available and then go to 0MB available and cause crashes during downloads. Another problem I found was that when Apps start up, a white patch shows on the screen temporarily which wasn't apparent before IOS 7x. When adding contacts I noticed that with "Increase Contrast" disabled, some of the entries added did not display while typing with the keyboard and the text was greyed out making it difficult to read what you are typing. Now I wish that I had not updated to IOS 7 as suggested because it has messed up my £700 iPhones and I don't see a way of downgrading without Jailbreaking making my phones worthless. We are very very upset and disappointed because we paid so much money for the devices and have not had them long. We do not want to buy a newer device just because of the update messing up our phones. Also I do not want to try and restore from a previous backup because the last few times I've tried and it does not restore everything. It is very time consuming and I am too ill to go through all that again on each device. Also I believe the restore does not give me the choice of going back to IOS 5.5 or IOS 6. Therefore if Apple could give the opportunity to update to IOS 5.5 or IOS 6 for older devices and have a separate update for IPhone 5s which have a faster processor and double RAM (1GB) then I would be very grateful.  I would also like to add the fact that IOS 7.x.x drains the battery very quickly. After reading the many complaints about IOS 7 update &amp; my personal experience, I now regret updating and also fear that future updates may render my iPhones useless. I bought my iPhone 4s direct from Apple and paid a premium for Factory Unlocked iPhones. I think the iPhones may now be out of warranty and are very unhappy with this situation. Please, please please could you send a fix in another update!

    Actually DIESEL they do force you to update. my wife has not update hers yet to ios6 and none of the apps work at full tilt anymore because they are all updated for ios 6....Apple is now making you either update(and ruin your iphone 4s) or buy the new iphone 5(which i doubt will have any of the problems people with iphone 4s are having).
    Since updating my 4s i have lost signal, data has been very low at best. i can not access any apps or they open up and do not refresh. I use to have 4bars at my work and now i have 1.

  • System reboots after game starts processing 3d

    Got a 970gtx gaming 4g a couple of weeks ago and it seemed as though it was fine when running on my old i7 930 and ASRock x58 extreme3 with windows 7 ultimate.
    Yesterday I upgraded my motherboard and cpu to an ASRock z97 extreme6 and an i5 4690k and made the move to Windows 8.1 pro.  Today I got around to doing a little bit of gaming and after about 20mins the screen went black and system rebooted.  There was no dump file and no log in the event viewer beyond a kernel warning.  Now whenever I boot up a game it might go through 2d loading screens fine but as soon as there are polygons to process the system is suddenly back on the bios splash screen.
    I've pulled the 970 out and tested it with onboard gfx and my old 2gb 560 ti and it is fine.  I haven't gotten around to swapping the MB and CPU back yet to test.  Is this likely to be an old fashioned hardware incompatibility?  Anything else I can do to attempt to get it working?

    I know it is only software monitoring, but I noticed that when the 970 is in my 12v rail voltage drops pretty low (seen readings as low as 10.1), but when my other cards are in it stays between 11.7 and 12.2.  The next step is to add the pci express power to the MB.
