T510 CUDA issue NVS3100m

Hi,
Has anyone been able to run CUDA applications on the T510 with NVS3100m?
The feature seems to have been disabled by lenovo and I bought this laptop due to it having this card to be able to work on my CUDA application due to the decent flops from the card.
Is the driver released graphics only and no CUDA?
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone from Lenovo chime in on this.  Is there a release date for a new driver anytime soon as I know this is the initial driver.  This also applies to the W series as they use the same driver.
There is no point in an quadro nvs GFX card if it does not run CUDA.
Assuming that would be the case between the two devices doesn't make it true, even if the drivers are in the same package they may not be the same driver on the system and they may function differently depending on the hardware.  nVidia has had problems in the past with cuda on their mobile chipsets and this is a fairly new part.   I would love to hear from someone with a W510 to see if this issue is seen on the presumably more powerful quaddro part.
Also, when using cuda on a mobile chipset you may want to try turning off Aero (along with any other applications which make use of the 3d portion of the card) it is possible that there just isn't enough power under the hood to run an application at the same time as 3d rendering.

  • T510: display issues(Bright pixels that wouldn't go away) -support?

Shortly after purchasing a new T510, I started to have problems with the display (Bright pixels that wouldn’t go away).  I figured it was a BIOS or driver issue.  However as my company purchased about 80 of these machines and I turned out to be the only one with the issue, I called support.
I also purchased the onsite 24hour support for three years, so I called Lenovo and in a couple days (not 24hours) they came in a replaced the LCD panel, which they assured me was the issue.  Not even an hour or two after the repair tech (David) left the problem started happening again.
I called back and Lenovo now indicated it has to be the motherboard.  Ok, so a couple days later David came in and replace the motherboard.  Now I purchased these units fully loaded, discrete graphics extra memory, high res, etc.  The motherboard they replaced it with did not have the Nvidia card, instead just the onboard graphics, which A. is no what I purchased, and B. not equivalent or better.
So David ripped out the new inferior board and put the old broken one back in, so I could at least continue with my job, with the intermittent pixel issue. I should also mention the screen went blurry at the same time the pixel issue happened, so I would have to reboot to restore the monitor.  David then ordered another Motherboard.
A week went by and no one called me back, so I called Lenovo again to find out what the heck was going on and why I didn’t have a new one ready in waiting within 24 hours. I was informed that is not how the warrantee works, only that they will respond in 24 hours and that the verbiage on their site around the warrantee was not perfectly clear.  Wow. OK…  I then asked when they expect to have this fixed and it turns out the part I need is on back order.
The part finally arrives. In another 4-5 days, however, I have a business trip coming up and I can’t risk yet another defective part. With my current flaky monitor I can at least get by.  So I schedule a time with David the repair tech to swap it out when I return.
I get the new Motherboard installed and I get all these video errors and other things start going horribly wrong.  David indicates it is a driver/bios issue and I need to upgrade/install drivers to remedy it.  Okay, so I do that, spend hours trying to get it to work. Turns out this motherboard is even worse and it crashes every time I try and use an external monitor or if the Nvidia 3100 kicks in for hardware acceleration.
I continue to work under the belief that this is a driver issue and try to fix it, however one of the MANY crashes ends up corrupting my Window 7 install, now throwing blue screens all the time and destroying my development env in the process. So I rebuild the machine and it just keeps happening.  This is now days of lost work that I can’t bill for.
I call Lenovo again to try and get this lemon replaced.  I get a hold of Jerome who punts me to Lenton, who punts me to Nate Bennet.  Nate seems like a reasonable guy and informs me that at their level of service they can only repair the units and are happy to continue working through this. By now this is gone on long enough and I want to have the laptop replaced, 1 out of 80, this one is a lemon. Nate appears to agree and kick off an escalation process to have this case reviewed and informs me that someone will call me back in 24-48 hours (business days that is).  Okay this is still incredibly inconvenient, but at least I believed we are making forward progress.
36 Hours goes by and no one calls me back, so I call Lenovo yet again.  I get a hold of Julius.   Julius informs me he’ll have a supervisor call me back right away, as there was not one available.
48 hours later I call Lenovo again, as you can guess no one has called me back.  I get a hold of Michael.  I again explain the whole situation to Michael and ask to speak to a supervisor, again...  Which again I’m informed is not possible as there is not one available.  Michael indicates that he’ll have a supervisor call me back.  This time I say I can wait on the line because that is what everyone else told me and nothing happened.  Michael then informs me that he is Michael and would not let that happen and assured me that a supervisor would call me back right away. I relent; verify my contact info with Michael and it all seems to be accurate.
So again nearing the end of the day no one has called me back, I call Lenovo yet again.  This time I get a hold of Phil.  I once again explain the whole situation.  Phil is very apologetic, but still is unable to produce a supervisor.  Phil indicates he’ll put sticky notes on his supervisor’s machine to contact me back. I guess these guys are probably using a T510 as well and can’t read their email either.
I ask for the name of this supervisor because clearly Lenovo is filling me with horse s&^% at this point.  There is a clear pause and all he says it "Carter.., that is his last name I don’t know his first name." Okay really, so you know this guy well enough to put sticky notes on his monitor, but you only know his last name.  Now I know I’m being lied to, but what can I do.
So here I am with a busted laptop that crashes at least 3-4 times a day I can’t use the discrete graphics that I paid for and only supports the LCD panel built into it.  In previous experience, with a different manufacturer, after the first few failed attempts they would have replaced the unit.  I guess I should be angry with the guy that convinced us to give Lenovo machines a try for the next refresh (That was me by the way).
I really have no idea how to proceed with this one.  This is first time in my career that I have ever been treated like this.  I really have no idea what to say.

I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt on this one, there is a message at the top of the forum stating:
"Welcome to Lenovo's Discussion Community!  Please note our guidelines when posting."
    if you read the Forum Guidelines it states quite clearly;
    Title threads appropriately
. The title of a thread should accurately reflect the subject of the discussion and be as technically specific as possible.  Avoid inflammatory or emotional statements that do not aid the development of the conversation. Thread titles are indexed not only for search functions within the forum, but often externally in Google, Yahoo, etc. Proper thread titles will aid the active members of the Lenovo community, as well as non-members who may be searching more broadly. Example of a good thread title: T Thinkpad Blue Screens after suspend . Example of a bad thread title: Stupid computer locks up - worthless piece of junk. Moderators may alter thread titles to be more meaningful if less than appropriate titles are chosen.
I'm certain the edited title represents the actual real hardware problem at hand better than the original because it's more descriptive and accurate and will therefore attract the attention of the members who have experienced the same or similar situations to comment and offer advice based on their experience.
Please do take time to read our guidelines as I'm sure you'll find some other helpful and informative tips in them.

  • T510 boot issues - power button flashes

I have a T510 that is acting really strange.
The laptop will do the following once shut down for any extended period of time.
When I open it up and press the power button the power button, keyboard light , hdd light will all flash. 5 seconds or so will pass and then it will do the same thing, never actually booting up. I'll pull the power and batteries and repeat the process and the thing will do the same thing. Eventually it will boot if I repeat the steps enough.
This just started happening recently. It will run fine once the system actually turns on. I have updated all drivers, I have updated the BIOS and all other software. I am highly doubting this is a windows issue as it never even POSTs.
The flashing lights almost act like an error code but I couldn't find anything regarding 1 quick slow flash by the power button.
    Any suggestions?

Maybe the keyboard cable or the keyboard itself? Nothing shows on screen during a false start?

  • T510 eSATA issue

    Hello,
I have a problem with eSATA port of of my T510. I found simillar topic, but for Lenovo 3000.
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/eSata-problem/td-p/302448
I have same sympthoms - while using USB 2.0 connection to my external disk - no problems. When I use the eSATA port the drive is detected, but when I try to copy more than 10-20 files the copy hangs... Looks like driver issue, but I couldn't solve it.
Also tried to find "Rapid Matrix Storage Manager", but couldn't find it in "Control Panel->Programs and features".
I guess it's not there, because this tool is not available for T510 according to
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-74582.html
Does anyone know how can I solve this issue?
    Regards,
    Pavel Pavlov

    Hi everyone,
I have a T420 and i'm encountering issues with eSata port. I was not using eSata before.
    Specs:
T420 i7 4GB RAM with NVS 4200M on Windows 7 64bits with all latest drivers (as far as i know) Video settings in bios set to OPTIMUS.
Eset Smart Security, Malware Bytes, HD Sentinel
Freshly restored to factory onto SSD and then update via Lenovo Site & Windows Update.
    ESata Drive:
1.5TB Seagate drive plugged via eSata dock to T420 eSata port and is not working (see symptoms below).
Dock is working perfectly on T420 if plugged via USB2.
Dock with same HDD and same eSata cable working perfectly on another eSata capable machine under windows 7.
    >> The dock + hard drive + eSata cable does not appear to be the cause of the problem
    Symptoms:
Very long boot from the hard drive plugged to Esata.
When copying a file to eSata drive it starts then freezes or fails. Speed is dropping and system freezes requiring to unplug the esata plugged drive.
eSata is not usable at the moment on my T420.
    Troubleshooting
    Deactivating Eset Smart Security
Latest Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI  Controller Driver installed 11.2.0.1066
Write caching disabled on the external ESATA Drive.
    AHCI enabled in Bios
ThinkVantage ToolBox "Enable Quick Hardware Checks" DISABLED
Tests made with T420 docked and undocked + when on battery only and on AC Power
Tests made with a different ESATA Cable.
A lot of reading on the subject with similar situation described dating back 2011 or 2012 but never a solution posted or update of the status.
    >>> No Solution found so far. I cannot use the ESATA port on the LENOVO. It's very frustrating.
Can any of you support in that situation and advise what could be the cause and how to solve that or if it's a general issue. I doubt that since some T420 users seems to have a working eSata Port?
    Thanks again.
    Kind regards,

  • T510 DISPLAY Issue: Intermittent high Contrast/Brightness

Hi folks - This is my first Lenovo forum submission and I will do my best to describe the problem with my laptops' video/display. I'm all ears for your suggestions.
    *Issue*
The display would occassionally dip down in brightness/contrast then change up to a very HIGH contrast level on its own. The desktop icons, background image & browser images become un-sightly bright BEYOND your normal Lenovo Power Manager settings. All the white hues turn even brighter, and some hues are NOT viewable at all on certain backdrops. Usually, it resolves itself after several minutes. Then it's business as usual.
I do not believe it has anything to do with the Power Manager settings (e.g. Idle Time, brightness control, Battery vs AC power, etc.). It simply occurs on it's own then disappears. A reboot can help and so does closing the lid and re-logging into Windows. But who wants to practice that technique after paying over $1600 for a professional grade business laptop?
I found only ONE forum message that came close to reporting the problem, found in the body of a message and NOT as a subject (SEARCH:  "screen image fades as if you lose contrast")

  • T510 Webcam issue.

I have a T510 with integrated webcam, but when I'm at my office I use my T510 in a dockingstation with an 22'' screen. In this screen is also an integrated webcam (probably lenovo L2251X). But when I have my laptop closed in my dock, I can't use the webcam of the monitor and I use it to Video Conference.
Does anyone has an idea, solution?
    Thanks in advance.

    hey rrjnoo,
i believe that both T510 and L2251X has their own camera software/drivers.
could you uninstall both and then install the camera software/driver for the L2251X and then try again ?

  • CUDA Issues with CS6 Mac

    All,
I'm currently having a really big problem with my Mercury Playback Engine and CUDA support.
    I'm running 10.6.8 with a GTX285 graphics card.
After a long time getting the card to initially start working with CS6, I came across the current problem. I have to switch CUDA drivers every day. Basically, if the computer is restarted, I have to load the CUDA drivers from NVIDIA back onto the machine.
I've been flip flopping between 4.1.29 and the most current version. I can't seem to find anyone having this problem and the computer is starting to have performance/rendering problems after a week of doing this trick.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Ryan

This sounds like a problem within OSX rather than Premiere Pro.  It's hard to know what the problem is without more information, which I guess you don't really have.
When you go to System Preferences and click on the CUDA button (usually bottom row) what driver version and GPU driver versions does it say?
Have you tried completely uninstaling the drivers from your system and installing them from scratch?
We're runing with a GTX285 and not seeing these problems, so it almost has to be a system configuration problem.

  • Premiere CC to AME - H.264 nightmare rendering problems with CUDA on rMBP

I've been struggling for weeks trying to troubleshoot and narrow down my encoding nightmare on my own and I have finally succumbed to getting the forum's or Adobe's Help.
    Problem:
Rendering a Premiere Pro CC project with via Export Media > Queue to AME in H.264 causes the encode to randomly fail on multiple projects.
I find it quite amazing that this error happens as I surely am not the only one rendering ProRes to H.264 on a new Macbook Pro!
    Symptom:
Output preview starts to flicker then encoding stops randomly, preview window turns to a black screen or simply stalls while the Elapsed Time keeps rolling, PProheadless crashes in Console, encoding sometimes resumes after several minutes post the crash (but sometimes not) however the final output in such case is garbled before/after the crash. Computer is useable. All other software shutdown. Not using computer during encode. Can reproduce virtually every time.
    Hardware:
    Early 2013 Retina Macbook Pro
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

    Attempts to solve the issue:
    Tried encoding without external montior
Tried encoding with source on internal HDD, output internal HDD, source exterbak RAID, output internal HDD
Tried encoding with AME while Premiere is open in the background and without it opened in the background
Uninstalled other software that could mess with the graphics: Colormunki, Parallels.
Software mode is fine on all attempts in AME however encoding takes 2-3x longer. On a $3000 laptop it's not really great.
Encoding directly via Export Media > Export without Queuing to Adobe Media Encoder seems to work fine. I have not tried this too many times because I need to render multiple outputs and doing it without AME means a lot of 'sitting and waiting' to click Export for the next format. This is not an option.
    Tried deleting the Media Cache
Completely reinstalled OS X 10.8.4 from scratch with no other software running and tried to export. Same problem.
Performed Apple hardward test. No problems.
    To Test:
I'm planning on installing Bootcamp so I can test the problem in the Windows version and I could pinpoint it to a hardware problem rather than a software problem.
    Notes:
Problem happens with CUDA and Open CL modes although in Open CL mode, the whole computer tends to freeze intead of just 'stalling'.
Editing and playback inside Premiere is OK! Even encoding out of Premiere is OK directly but not useful for me as I need to render each project to 5 different H.264 formats.
I hope you guys or Adobe's Support can find a solution to this problem because I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I've submitted a bug report but their reply is not very comforting:
but their bug report says "Due to the volume of submissions we receive, responses to inquiries are generally not possible. However, we may contact you if we need clarification on your submission." Nice.

Yes I considered your "solution" of just upgrading to Adobe CC but on principal I don't want to have to shell out more money to "fix" the problem. I was able to get an Adobe technician to view my screen in real time. He asked me where Prem Pro was after I opened it and my response was "precisely". The only evidence that Prem Pro is open is that there is the taskbar there with what appears to be fully functional drop down tabs but as far as the panels/workspace goes non-existent! He has "escalated" the matter I'll let you know what occurs next. I have tried using the software mode and there is no change. Like you I have wondered about a hardware proplem but I have checked via Disk Utility and there doesn't appear to be any? The CUDA issue well a) I am not sure how I would revert to previous drivers and b) when I re-installed Prem Pro from disc (that's version 6.0.0.) the only render option it gave me was Software only but that was also greyed out. Prem Pro still did not open up as it should!
I'll let you know what transpires.

OK I found the performance issue with 6.0.2 atleast so far that I am seeing are the Hyperthreading cores are not being utilized on Windows. I will list the registry changes below. Unfortunately these will not work on OSX.
I will also insert image so you can see the registry locations for each.
Type Regedit in the search. Go to the following location
    HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Change the Large System Cache from 0 to 1. Right Click on Large System Cache and select Modify. Change Value data from 0 to 1 and hit ok.
The Core parking requires searching for the Following Registry Key.
    0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583
    - Go to Regedit
    - Find this key by selecting Edit and then Find at the top:- " 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 "
    - Within this key, there is a value called: " ValueMax "
    - This value represents the % number of cores the system will park - the default 100% ie: all Cores are potentially park-able
    - Change the value from 64 to 0 so the " ValueMin " and " ValueMax " are both zero
    - You will have to find the key a few times and repeat the process for each time it is found - the number of instances will depend on the number of power profiles in your system
So Far the Playback performance after those changes is back to normal.

  • Plug-in 5.8.0 Compatibility Problem with Pr 8.2

    Hi Guys
I'm running Win7, SP1 with a NVidia Quadro FX 3800 card. Is it me or is CC2014 a bug laden step backwards?
Apart from the serious CUDA issue users are facing, since a couple of updates ago I get a compatibility problem. Whenever I try to launch Audition or AE (or even SmartSounds) from an open Pr project, I get an error message saying "Premiere Pro version 8.2 is not compatible with Premiere Pro Plug-in version 5.8.0." The issue first appeared in 8.1.
Has anyone else faced this issue and how can I resolve it (before I throw in the towel and go back to CS5!?)
    Regards,
    Graham

Thanks, Ann. I hadn't realised there was a 5.8.1 update, which seems to have solved the problem (I thought it was something deeper as the error appeared when I tried to open AE through the DL.

  • Premiere CC render causes system audio to fail/skip/choppy

    Hello,
When I link media, render, or import media into Premiere CC 2014 my system audio (iTunes and Google Play) immediately artifacts and is choppy, skips, and sometimes becomes muted for a few seconds.
Again, it only occurs when I'm processing media after it was offline or when I'm rendering a sequence.
    Anyone else have this issue?
    System Specs:
    Apple iMac 27" (Late 2013)
    3.5GHz Intel Core i7
    32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
    3 TB Fusion Drive (Local)
    18TB Promise Pegasus R6 RAID (External 1)
    8TB Gtech RAID (External 2)
    OSX 10.9.4 (13E28)
    Software Specs:
    Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1
    8.0.1 (21) Build

  • RMBP CUDA Playback Serious Issues/Glitches

Just purchased a new rMBP and am running Premiere 6.0.2 and with CUDA 5.0.45 installed.  Here are the system specs:
    - 756gb SSD
    - 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    - 16 GB Ram
    - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    - OS X 10.8.3
I'm experiencing serious playback issues and crashes in premiere on both internal and exteranal display with both CUDA or OpenCL enabled.  With CUDA playback the monitor window turns black, freezes white, or gets replaced with content from other windows that are open.  It generally works great for a few minutes when I first open premiere, but then everything wigs out.  The timeline and audio will play, but no video shows up.  This generally causes the source window to freeze up as well.  In OpenCL, both the windows turn into digital glitching as soon as I open up premeire.  This has happened while testing RED 4k as well as Canon 5D MKiii 1080 footage.  The only way premiere is running smoothly is through the software only mercury playback.  I've disabled graphics switching, etc. and tried any fixes I've found so far, but no luck.
Here's another link to a similar forumn on Creative Cow that is discussing the same issue I'm having.
    http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/930479
Any info would be awesome.  I have another few days to decided if I want to keep the computer or not with a full refund from Apple, so I'm trying to resolve any issues.

  • T510 Wireless connection issue

I've had a T510 with the Centrino Advanced-N 6200AGN wireless for about 6 months now and it's been great. However, several days ago it started to not connect to my home network's wireless.
I've reset the router numerous times and rebooted the laptop to no avail. I've deleted the connection profile and recreated it with no change in behavior. All of my other devices both wireless and wired all work perfectly fine with no issues. I can also connect to other wireless networks with this laptop just fine.
Access connections shows that it is connecting to the router and then just sits at "Waiting for IP configuration" until it fails. Once it fails, if I go to the diagnostic tools to find the detailed error message it shows "Error code 031" with a recommended action of "The DCHP server on this network failed to respond to the request your system made for automatic IP address configuration." Clicking on Repair has no effect.
However, I check my router during these connection attempts/tests and I can watch the laptop show up in the DHCP clients with an IP address so it isn't an issue of connecting to the router. It also disappears from the DHCP clients once I manually disconnect, but at no point does the laptop actually bind an IP address to the wireless device. If I delete the DHCP client entry from the list of DHCP leases, the next connection attempt adds the laptop to the client list correctly but the laptop still does not set an IP address.
Running any of the Windows 7 Professional diagnostics has no effect either, it just says there is a problem with the IP configuration (duh!) and can't fix it.
The driver firmware version for the wireless device is 13.4.0.9 which is the most current listed. The system is also current on all other system updates, both Lenovo and Microsoft.
Does anyone have additional suggestions for troubleshooting/repair? This issue is extremely odd.

Of course as soon as I post something about the issue it starts working.
The only thing different I tried was plugging directly into the router which had the same issue as the wireless where it talked to the router but wouldn't get an IP address set to the device. I restarted the Windows "DHCP Client" service while plugged directly into the router and it magically worked once the service started again.
Looks like it was a Windows issue of some sort.
