Tab control doesn't highlight when tabbing

I have to navigate through my application without a mouse, using the tab key, return key, etc. As I tab through the controls I've noticed that as a control receives focus it is outlined with a black box. This doesn't seem to be true, however, for the tab control. Is there someway I can get the tab control to be highlighted when it receives focus via the tab key?

There are ways you can do it by using attribute nodes. You can monitor the tab controls attribute node to see if it is in focus, then change color, size, or display the page, etc. Here is an example.

I'm on Firefox 3.6.21, and I got this problem today after a Greasemonkey update (To version 0.9.10, apparently).
Disabling Greasemonkey solved the problem, and re-enabling it reproduced the problem (middle-clicking links to open in new tab did not work, merely highlighted the link).
I should also note that while Greasemonkey was enabled and the bug was affecting me, Ctrl+Click to open links in new tabs was also broken.

Using a jQuery list box placed onto a tab control doesn't seem to work for posting?

I developed a U.I. in Dreamweaver for a product and have several list boxes that use the onChange modifier to collect what the user selects from the list. I use the onChange=this.form.submit() function to grab the user's selection from the list box..
When this dropdown list box code is placed onto a form, it posts properly and I can retrieve the user's list selection. If however I place the list box code onto a Tab page from a jQuery Tab Control, developed in Dreamweaver, the posting doesn't seem to work.
I must be missing something because identical code is working fine when the list box code is placed on a form yet when the code is repeated from within a Tab, it isn't working.
The code is simple, and shown below). The list values are coming from a MySQL table.

I got a external Apple Wired Keyboard (w/ NumPad), caps lock mapped to control doesn't work with tab + caps lock + shift

I got a external Apple Wired Keyboard (w/ NumPad) since I'm a developer. I have used control panel > keyboard > modifier keys to make the caps lock key the control key. I can't get it to work when I press caps lock (which maps to control) +shift + tab (which I use to change tabs backwards).
Any ideas? It works when I use the regular control key, and it works on my built-in MBPro keyboard. Thx!

Hi Steve, Welcome to apple discussions.
Hmm, that is a strange problem. Well, you've already done what I would suggest which is to go to the keyboard settings and click the "Restore defaults" button in the modifier keys window and try again. If that doesn't work then you can restart the computer and check. If that doesn't work you can try to reset the pram. Hold the optioncommand+PR buttons after you hear the startup chime, it should chime again, I let it chime a third time just for good measure and see if things look better.
If that fails then you can try making another account and seeing if the caps lock works in the new account. There might be some strange error on your account that would be corrected for in a new account. After that it gets more labor intensive. Do a system re-install, do an erase and install.
You might consider a trip to the apple genius bar there in Honolulu if can. The should be able to run through all that for you. You're still under warrantee so take advantage and get some help.
Oh, and just a disclaimer that I learned from Adam on the maccast podcast. Make a full, complete backup including a time machine and bootable (like superduper or carbon copy cloner) disk before you do any of the above or take the unit it for service.

its working fine for all the cases except one.

What version of LabVIEW?
I have seen a bug in LV 8.0 and 8.2 where:
If you DEFER PANEL UPDATES,
Set the TAB control to tab X
Un-DEFER PANEL UPDATES.
then the TAB control will show tab X in front, but what's on the page is from some other tab.
In other words, it changed the tab doohickey itself, but didn't change the contents.
The workaround was to change the tab via a PROPERTY NODE : VALUE function, rather than a local variable.
I suggest you give that a try.

Tab widget doesn't show first tab when site is loaded

I have a website consisting of only one page. This page has a tab widget that consists of four tabs. Tab one holds an accordion widget, tab two holds a slideshow widget, tab three contains another accordion widget and tab four holds just a .jpg with a hyperlink.
Now, when I upload the site and I view it in my browser from the server, the site opens showing tab two with the slideshow - not tab one with the first item of the accordion widget open as I would expect - and want - it to. And further more: When I subsequently press the first tab, it opens with the last item of the accordion widget active - not the first item - and pressing tab three, it opens with the 3rd item (out of four - so in this case it is not the last item as is the case for tab/accordion one) of the accordion acitve.
Is there a way to set up the tab- and accordion widgets so that they "instruct" the browser to show tab- and accordion items in a certain order upon opening the site? And if yes: How..?

Horizontal scrollbar of waveform chart in tab page resets to end when tab page switched

I've got a VI in LV 2012 with a chart in one of two pages of a tab control. Whether compiled to an executable or not, when the waveform chart contains data that is no longer being updated and the x-axis range doesn't show the last point of data, the horizontal scroll bar auto-adjusts to show that last point if you switch pages (back to the chart) on the tab control. I've tried turning off Autoscaling but that doesn't stop the effect.
Additional issues:
On some of these attempts at reproducing this, the X-Axis will even change scaling, zooming in on the data.
When data is pushed left by this bug to allow displaying the furthest data point, if the leftmost area of the chart was blank before the data was pushed left, the data pushed left into the formerly blank area will not be displayed. This happened only when the X-Axis was manually autoscaled prior to pushing the data off the right edge of the chart, and only if the x-axis scale was not changed. If the tab pages are again switched at this point away and back to the chart, the data re-appears.
The chart is a stacked plot if that makes a difference, Also, the tab control is not linked to any event handlers.
Also, the scrollbar works fine if you scroll such that the rightmost data points are on the chart along with blank area to the right, whether there is more data off the left edge of the chart or not.
Last, the Y-Axis of each stacked plot is unaffected by any of this.
I hope this isn't a duplicate - I didn't find it in the forums.

Thanks for the quick response on this. Again, the charts are awesome except for these minor fiddling details. Sorry about the terminology confusion - I didn't find anything in the Help system naming the legend buttons, and unfortunately I can't edit the prior post. When I said "AutoScale LocK" I meant "Scale Lock", and "AutoScale Once" I meant "Autoscale".
Here are the issues, hopefully clarified:
1. If any chart elements have Scale Lock set, pressing the AutoScale button for any plot causes these other plots to autoscale as well. Note these are not plots with multiple Y scales, they're stacked plots with separate y-scales for each plot. Changing the "Advanced->Auto Adjust Scales" parameter had no effect on this issue.
2. If none of the chart elements have Scale Lock set in the scale legend, pressing the Autoscale button for the X-Axis has no effect if the x-axis was previously set to show all the data history but then panned such that some data falls of either side of the chart.
This may have been confusing, so here's a breakdown of the steps to re-produce the problem using the VI I previously attached.
a. AutoScale all elements of the chart, and turn off Scale Lock on all elements
b. Move the data to the right in the chart, so the left half of the chart area has no data (e.g., set the X-Axis range to -5 to 6 seconds)
c. Press the X-Axis AutoScale button. The X-Axis range will not change from where it was in (b).
3. The Y-Axis will also auto-scale when returning to the Chart tab if Scale Lock is enabled for the plot with the fix for the x-axis scale in place (restoring the Xscale.Range parameters from a local variable). If the fix is not performed, this doesn't happen.
4. Pressing the Scale Lock button on one of the plots causes the X-Axis scale to be lost IF there is data past the maximum displayed X-Axis range. It looks like it set the X-Axis to the same problem range as before the fix was in place. I don't know how to build an event case for this, except for possibly "Mousedown?".
One more:
5. Enabling Scale Lock on any plot auto-scales any other plot that has Scale Lock enabled (assuming the user changed the Y-Axis range from the previously auto-scalled range). Obviously this is linked to #1 above, but worth noting.

Well, I still want to be able to highlight it with a mouse down. I want to turn automatic selection off when a user is tabbing into the control or it gets its focus programmatically.

When is press the tab it doesn't open another tab only if i press open in new tab it does it how to fix that?

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

First tab not getting "TabPanelTabSelected" class when tabs created from dataset

Greetings all. I've got a tabbedpanel widget whose tabs are
created with a spry repeat region. works great, except none of the
tabs get the "TabPanelTabSelected" class on initial load. I tried
setting the defaultPanel in the constructor, but to no avail.
here's the div that creates the tabs:

Thanks a lot Kin. I now have it working, mostly. I changed
the contentgroup div so that it repeated over the RequestCounts to
create the table. However, when I did that, obviously it drew the
table each time through the loop. So I changed the table's spry:if
to also look at the current status names for equality. only then
does it actually draw the table for the status that's been clicked.
the final version appears below.
Now, I do have two problems though.
1) I can no longer use the spry:loading state. If I have
this: <div spry:state="loading">loading...</div> right
under the "TabbedPanelscontentGroup" div, I get an error that
tpIndex is not defined. So...do you know how i can get this
functionality back?
2) One thing I needed to implement was "persistent" tab on
data refresh. I added a loadInterval on the RequestCounts dataset,
and thus everytime that interval was up the tab went back to the
first one. So in the updateRequests() function, i set a variable
named 'selectedTab' to the clicked rowid. Then, in the
tabObserver.onPostUPdate function, i have the dsRequestCounts
current row being set to that variable.
The only problem with this is that the "requests" dataset
then gets loaded twice when the interval causes the data to reload:
once for the first row, and then once for my 'persisted' row. This
makes sense, but i just don't know how to fix it. i'm pasting the
code into this post...maybe someone can see some way to get around
this?
Basically, the behavior I want is this:
a) on initial page load, load the requestCounts dataset and
use the first row of that dataset to load the requests dataset
(this works)
b) when a user clicks a tab, load the requests dataset with
the rowid of the clicked tab (this works)
c) when the loadInterval causes the RequestCounts dataset to
be refreshed, use the 'selectedTab' variable as the CurrentRow of
the RequestCounts data such that the Requests dataset is loaded
with the correct row and the selected tab is correct
So the only rpoblem i have is with c, and the only problem
there is that essentially what happens is the requests dataset is
loaded twice.
Thanks to any and all for advice getting the "loading" state
working and the refresh behavior correct!

IPhone vol control doesn't function when on cradle

Is this a BUG? When on the cradle and playing music, the volume control ceases to work as soon as a stereo output plug (3.5mm) is attached to outboard sound.

I'm not sure if I am the first one to notice this but, line-out volume on the iPhone is not consistent and can be affected by the volume level setting prior to connecting to dock.
An example, I have a ipod connector in my car. if I connect my ipod to my car stereo with the volume on the iphone set low, music coming through the stereo is lower. To increase this volume I have to disconnect the iphone and turn up the volume then reconnect.
Also, I've noticed that if I play a youtube video and turn up the volume during video play back and then connect the iphone to my car dock connector the line-out volume is even louder.
I'm not sure if this is because the connector is not designed for iPhone specifically but I've noticed this behavior with most ipod speakers.

Tab control background color matching

I have a system style tab control. I realized the when the program runs in exe mode, the background color of my label on the tab control doesn't match the backgound color of the tab control. The background color of the tab control is different between exe mode and development mode. Anyone help? How do I match the color? Thanks!

Tab control event Keypress

Hello,
I'm using a Tab control and can't find out how to handle the following situation.
We know that when operating a Tab control we can jump from Tab to Tab by pressing <Ctrl-Tab>.
When at the last Tab I would like to jump to another conbtrol and not again to the first Tab.
Unfortunately in this situation <Ctrl-Tab> doesn't generate an EVENT_KEYPRESS.
Is there a way to handle this situation?

I don't understand why you cannot get the keypress event: I have tried to modify TabExample example installing a callback on the tab control and properly get the keypress event on Ctrl+Tab. Here the code for the tab control callback function:

Tab control

Hi all,
I have a tab control with 3 tabs. I was wondering how I can do the following:
1. I want to show only 1 page of the tab control without the tab header name when i start the program.
2. When i hit ctl + shft + , I would like my tab control to display all 3 tabs with the header.
3. When i hit ctl + shft + , I would like my tab control to display only the first tab with no header.
Has this ever been done? Can it be done?

Sure. It doesn't do exactly what you want but should be simple to modify. To control individual tabs, you use the read only property pages. This returns an array of references. You use an index array function to get a specific page. For example, if you want to manipulate page two, index element 1 of the pages property. The returned reference can be used to create properties for just page 2.

Indicators show thru to front page of tab control.

I have a tab control with boolean indicators on the second and third pages. When the indicators are activated (mine blink when certain tests are selected), they show on the front panel. I have tried to "move to front" the tab control but that didn't work. The property node for the tab control doesn't seem to have anything to help either. Any ideas?

which does change as the tabs change.
