Telephone Directory in CME..

Hi,
I have implemented CME / CUE in three locaitons connected through WAN. I can call anyone in the Network. I need to create a Directory where i can see the Names with there Telephone Numbers. I should see all three branch telephone entries maped with the Names.
Thanks...

You can use an external LDAP server as a common directory and point the CME URL to use that server for directory lookup using this command.
url directory

  • Making a telephone directory in InDesign 5.5

I am trying to make a telephone directory for the entire campus. I have all faculty/staff in a spread sheet, saved it as a csv file. I then put it InDesign - put the appropriate fields then tried to do multiple layouts and I am realizing it doesn't "flow."I thought I would have to create at least two InDesign templates one for the middle and then one for the back but neither flows correctly.
    Can anyone guide me?
Basically the middle of the book should like this (but with multiple pages that the data flows until the last record)
Then this is the back of the directory which is in alphabetical order. I don't need to format it this way I just need it to be one record on top of another, then put into a second column then flowed until the last record.
    Thanks!

ah ok, you never said you were data merging them.
in short, data merge doesn't have a feature like microsoft word where there is a "next record" TEXT field which lets the records flow on.
instead, data merge works by merging the elements on the page, so if you were to merge the file and in the options turn on the multiple record feature, you'd see that many text boxes were generated but they're not threaded together... but the text boxes do have record one, then record two, then record three...
indesign's data merge is best suited to generating data where one record changes per page. yes, it can do many records per page, but this is ideally suited to people who are imposing their own business cards many up on a page; or people making picture heavy catalogues with set amounts of records per page. indesign's data merge is not built for catalogue-style in-line data merges similar to microsoft word's mail merge to catalogue.
for your purposes, i'd use XML but that is user unfriendly. there are CSV to XML converters online (assuming your database isn't too huge) and a great resource called "A Designer's Guide to Adobe InDesign and XML: Harness the Power of XML to Automate your Print and Web Workflows" written by James Maivald and it is about the only easy to pick up and run with book out there on the topic. There is another book by Grant Gamble on the topic and no offense to him, but my brain was full by chapter three.
otherwise, aftermarket plug-ins such as ones made by cacidi systems or emsoftware may help.
or, does this really need to be a data merge solution? could the text not simply be placed into indesign rather than using the data merge feature? i'd imagine the data is already in the correct order, just needs formatting. if that is the case and the excel file is available, i'd save it out as a tab delimited TXT format and place that into indesign and then format it with nested styles.

  • Two column telephone directory style report

Does anyone have an example of a two column telephone directory style report (2.0,2.5,3.0 or 6.0) that they would be willing to share?
    Thank you.

  • Listing Skype Number in local telephone directory ...

What is the process for getting a listing in the local (Ireland, in my case) telephone directory (phonebook) using my Skype Number (which is a geographic Dublin number, where I reside). The publishers of the directory (which is available online and distributed throughout the area in paper form) indicate that only service providers can update the telephone directory. I know that other PSTN and VOIP service providers add/update phonebook listings for their users. What about Skype?
So what is the process for doing this with Skype Numbers? It is important to us that we can be listed in the telephone directory with our Skype Number.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Aimi,
thanks for your response. However, I see that as a failure in Skype's duty as a service provider. I bought the Skype Number recently with the intention of holding on to it for the long term so that I could use it for my business, print it on brochures, letterheads and business cards etc. It is important that I be able to have it listed in the business pages of my local area telephone directory and in the online telephone directory. Surely you can see that as a reasonable expectation. Only service providers can update this directory. Otherwise I would do it myself. The publishers won't deal with individuals or individual busineses - only telephone service providers, so I need your help with this.
I'm sure that other service providers have some churn in their number assignments too, but they don't use that as an excuse for not giving their customers a telephone directory listing. Skype needs to step up to the mark here and fulfill its responsibilities as a service provider and issuer of geographic telephone numbers.
Are you saying that the only way I can do this is to transfer the number to another telephone service/VOIP provider and have them list it for me? In other words that having a Skype Number and a telephone directory listing with that number is not possible if Skype is the service provider?
    Thanks for your help.
[All business owners thinking of using Skype Numbers, please watch out for the reply. This could influence your decision to use Skype or some other VOIP/SIP service provider.]

    Hi,
We're hiding the decisionservice directory structure in the JDEV application navigator.
A user is not supposed to do modifications in that directory, it's pretty much deployment
    artifacts only.
Can you elaborate on why you want to see that in the application navigator ?

  • Mobile Telephone Directory

Mobile Neighborhood Directory.  I am saving the data from Word 2010 directly to a PDF.  I am editing the pdf with Acrobat 6 Pro (very old).  The email links will work in the edited doc and start the email app, but not the telephone number recognition dialing ability for a mobile telephone.  Will Acrobat Standard XI provide this capability on the mobile device so one can touch / click on the number to dial?

This would be a function of the PDF reading software, not the software used to make it.

  • Sending Telephone Directory, Pictures and Music from Nokia 2330 to Palm TX

I'm trying to connect my Palm TX to a Nokia 2330 Classic to send telephone numbers, pictures and music to my Palm. There is no problem using bluetooth to dial from Palm to Nokia 2330. Now, how can I send my info from 2330 to my Palm TX? Any ideas anyone?

I don't think iTunes has a conversion tool.  There might be third-party apps out there, but one sure-fire way to do it is to burn your tunes to a CD, then re-rip them back your PC as .mp3 files.  A little clunky, but it's a way.

  • Telephone directory from XML

    Hey
I have a big challenge. The task is to generate e phone direcotry in an adobe application. first i think indesign is perfect. i became all directory entries in a xml file. but now i have the problem that i didn't understand how i set various entries in a textbox.
    An entry look like this:
              Testname
              Marcel
                   Musterstrasse
                   86
                   6000
                   Dorf
              0413332211
the entries have different skins. it will be controlled by the type-attribut.
    Can anybody help me?
(sorry for my realy bad english)
    kind regards
    Chris

    From the CS4 XML help:
An attribute provides additional information about an XML element. Each attribute consists of a name and a value. Attributes appear in the Structure pane; THEY ARE NOT PLACED IN THE DOCUMENT OR USED AS CONTENT IN THE DOCUMENT. Include attributes with elements for the benefit of files and applications that will use the XML files you create in InDesign.
In other words, ID doesn't use the attributes for anything. They are only useful if you're exporting XML from InDesign.

    Hi,
I have enabled all Controls Allowed Through Proxy.
I can authenticate from a Solaris 10 client, but the password policy is ignored. If I bind same Solaris 10 client directly to DS the password policy is applied.

  • Changing Directory layout phone 7945 in CME

    Hi guys,
I have problems to change the search layout in the personal directory on CME.
Sadly my client does not accept to do the default procedure for search, where he has to press the directory key, down to option 5 and choose how to look.
So I need to change the search scheme within directories when she press the directory key already show the search by name or last name
Some documents show how to change the Soft-keys but that does not help me, I need to change the directories to search layout.
    I'm using CME 9.0

  • CME local Directory as File

    Hi,
is there a way to make a company wide adressbook of customer as File ?. Is it  possible to give the cme the Numbers and Names over  a XML Files ?
    Philipp

    Hi Philipp,
To replace the Local Directory in CME with your own custom directory, you need a web server that is reachable from the phones.  On the server, you need to create at least two .xml files.  The first one is a Menu file and your directories url should point to it.
The file format looks like this:
    Select a directory
    Sample Directory
    http://x.x.x.x/directory.xml
Of course, you need to replace 1x.x.x.x with the ip address of your web server.
The second file is a Directory file.  This is the "directory.xml" file referenced in the Menu file, and it looks like this:
          System Fast Dials
          abc
          2700
          Help
          2708
This will work for up to 32 entries.  If you have more than that, you have to break it up into multiple pages.  Navigating between pages can be done one of two ways.  Your directory.xml file could actually be another menu, similar to the Menu file above but with multiple entries pointing to different Directory files, or you can add a Next softkey in the Directory file to load the next page.
Here is how you would add a Next softkey (you have to redefine all of the softkeys):
        Dial
        SoftKey:Dial
        1
        EditDial
        SoftKey:EditDial
        2
        Exit
        SoftKey:Exit
        3
        Next
        http://x.x.x.x/directory2.xml
        4
This goes somewhere within the tag, either at the top or the bottom.  On subsequent pages, you can also add a Prev softkey to load the previous page.
    Refer http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmedirs.html for more information.
    Hope this Helps.

  • I am really sorry but I am still stuck. Please help.

Please can someone help me with the following code. I have a number of questions. So far all buttons that I have coded actions for work fine. When The program saves it does it correctly as I have seen the text file. However I have some problems.
    1) How can I declare the arrays in another way without setting them to "" when the program starts. I need the program to start and show the previous saved arrays instead. I dont know if my method used for retrieving data from the file is correct either?.
    2) When retrieving the values from a file that has example (all are string values). ADAM SANDLER 111 222 333 MICKY MOUSE 222 444 666
Where I want them to be in the follwing arrays as an example.
    String name[1] = ADAM
    String surname[1] = SANDLER
    String home[1] = 111
    String work[1] = 222
    String cell[1] = 333
    String name[2] = MICKY

    String home[2] = 222

It's pretty easy to write objects to file, but it depends on what you want to do with that file. Do you want it to be a human-readable text file? Is it only to be used by your program? The file is to be used by my program to save to and to read from. But I understand now that saving each entry as a string and not writing it to an array may be easier. Do I use the buffered reader instead of InputStreamReader? Oh sorry I forgot to mention that the file I save to will later be used when I convert my application to a database type/SQL tyype aplication.
Edited by: Yucca on Mar 24, 2008 8:06 PMIt sounds to me like object serialization would be the easiest for what you want to do. Read through this:

  • Is database Engine necessary or should I use one in my Java application?

I am writing a program which similar to a telephone directory kind of application. I have a database and I am thinking to use JDBC with mySQL for the database.
My question is that later when this program is ready and I am going to burn it to CD, what will be happen with mySQL? Can I add mySQL (or a similar program)?
Is it not better to make a database by Java objects or arrays within Java? What is the smart way to this when it comes to a program which in the background you have database??? Thank you for sharing your expertise...

Is it not better to make a database by Java objects
or arrays within Java? Unless you plan on writing a relational database and SQL engine on your own, the best bet is to get a real relational database.
Hypersonic SQL is small and embeddable in Java. Cloudscape might be good, too. Derby is going to be part of Java 6, unfortunately. PostgreSQL is a terrific relational database that's free.
What is the smart way to this
when it comes to a program which in the background
you have database??? Thank you for sharing your
expertise...The smart thing is to get a real relational database and forget about doing it yourself. Databases are far more complex than a few arrays or objects.

  • Warning this is very long code but i need help to see if I am on right trac

I have done all the following code myself and it is the buisiness layer for my application. I have tried to follow recommendations on previous posts and I would like to be told where I can clean up my code and how? This is not complete and it looks very long to me but I need help in order to be better. There are 4 button vlivks and I have not completed them all. The criteria for application is that phonebook will accept new entries if they have names surnames and phone numbers that are not longer than 10 characters for display purposes but can change this. No duplicates are allowed. No editing of a existing entry must lead to a duplicate entry either. No new entry or edit may result in a new contact having no phone numbers.
Many thanks for your time in advance,.....
