I have en template and make some changings in an not editable
area - I save it and go to "modify" - "Templates" - "update pages"
- choose "files that use: Mytemplate.dwt" and press start - but
Dreamweavermake some change´s I don´t ask for.
The path to my CSS i "css/styles.css" but after the update of
pages Dreamweaver have change it to Templates/css/styles.css - Why
Some other places it have make some other path with the
Templates/ in front of.
How can this happen and what can I do about it ?
In the top of my not html-files stand
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/skabelon.dwt"
codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

> The path to my CSS i "css/styles.css" but after the
update of pages
> Dreamweaver have change it to Templates/css/styles.css -
Why ?

> Some other places it have make some other path with the

1- no other files such as css or js or subfolders should be
inside of the
Templates folder. If any files other than .dwt template files
are in the
Templates folder, use the Files Panel to move them elsewhere
within the
site.
2- Open the template. Do a File->check page-->check
links.
fix all broken links so they work IN the template page.
except for paths in custom javascript, dw will manage the
paths fine as long
as the correct path is set in the template, so that the path
is right from
the location of the template.

  • Remote file template not updating on website

Hello I am very very new to dreamweaver and have been handed a website that I have to maintain and make changes to.
The website uses a template called index with further nested templates as shown
The index template contains the code for the Menu Bar and footer and although I have been able to make other updates and changes I am finding that any changes to the code on this template do not show up on the site. The strange thing is that both the local and remote code has updated as I would like it is just the website itself that is not changing. When I view the website source code it is different to the remote file code. I assume that the link between the two is somehow broken but I do not know how to fix it. Is there a trick to fixing such a problem or am I wrong about this being the problem?
Here is the remote file code which is that same as the local code - I have out the code that is not updating in bold and underlined it:

Thank you in advance for your help

Jon Fritz that did actually work for some of the pages but not others. I upadted each invidivual page, except the main page as I have not finished the content and now some of the pages are acting strangely.
    Here is the website http://www.genesi-fp7.eu/index.html
As you can see every page except the 'Contacts' and 'Links' page is now reading the correct code when you click on the 'Consortium' tab. The strange thing however is that the footer has updated on the 'Links' page suggesting that this part of the template has updated. Both these pages are based on the Index-misc nested template. The code is copied here:

          <h1>Introduction to the G.EN.ESI Project</h1>
<p>The sustainability of industrial products, particularly  household appliances, is an important issue today.  Energy consumption in the  residential/domestic sector is about 20% of world consumption, and associated  greenhouse gas emissions exceed 35%.   Household appliances contribute greatly to these values and thus require  particular attention as far as sustainability is concerned.</p>
<p>It is well known that decisions taken during the early  design of products are very important in determining total product cost.  It is possible to hypothesize the same for  environmental impacts – i.e. the sustainability of a product is largely  determined during the early design stage. In order to allow designers to make  well-informed decisions, new design methods and tools are needed to provide the  basis for determining the degree of sustainability of a given product or  process.  Many eco-design procedures and  tools have been developed but they are often far from a practical day-by-day  application in company engineering departments, and they are not well  integrated with computer-aided design tools.   This project wants to make up for this limitation and to develop an eco-design  methodology (called G.EN.ESI) and a related software design tool (called the  G.EN.ESI platform) able to help product designers in ecological design choices,  without losing sight of cost and typical practicalities of industry. The  software platform will propose a guided process towards eco-design among  several design choices based on the different scenarios of product lifecycle.  The proposed approach will be applied to the household appliance field but it  can be easily extended to other mechatronic products.</p>
<p>The project started in February 2012 and will continue until  January 2015.</p>

  • Template not updating child pages

Hi,  here's a link to the conundrum:
    http://theexperience-exchange.co.uk/stop.html
This page (as are a few others) is based on a template document (stored in a Templates folder in the site root).
I added an editable region in the form of a new div with some text etc.  When I do a 'save' I get the update files dialogue box, but it doesn't update the child pages.
I did look on the forum for an answer, althought there are similar examples of this issue, they don't seem to have had any dircet help.
As ever, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I'm signing off for the night, catch up with you all in the morning.
    Thanks in anticipation
    RP

Let's start with the obvious things.
    1. Are you sure you're editing the correct template.dwt file?
Your Stop.html page is referencing this one.   internal_pages.dwt
    2. After saving your template and updating the child pages, did you upload the child pages to your server?

  • Template not updating online files

I use one template for 62 files which I have already
uploaded. I made a change to the template which updated my files
offline but do I have to re-upload all these files again? When I
just upload the template, none of the other files online
automatically updated. This is my first use of templates and I
assumed that if you modify the template then the change will carry
over to each associated file that already resides on the server
which would be great. What should I do to keep from having to
re-upload each file after I make a change to the template?
    Thanks, Steve

    >>do I have to re-upload all these files again?
    Yup. That's hw Templates work.
    >>What should I do to keep from having to re-upload

Nothing you can do, again it's just how Templates work. You
    can however read
about server side includes (ssi) in DW Help and other places
    (Google) and
use them to replace some pieces of your Template. For example
    put your menu
(navigation) in an Include file. Change just that file when
    you need to
modify your menu. Then upload just that Include file and it
    will be (what
else?) *included* in all your pages.

  • Question on templates and updating linked files

OK I have a master template file. Let's say it is named
a.dwt. I used a.dwt to create another template (b.dwt) that had
more content on it than a.dwt. I would use b.dwt to create a group
of similar looking pages which still had all the elements of a.dwt
but also the additional content of b.dwt.
Now if I make a change to the a.dwt template, all pages
created from a.dwt change except b.dwt. So either I forgot to
create the b.dwt by going to file->new->page from
template->and then save it as a .dwt OR maybe it's not possible
to have a secondary template that gets updated when the first
template gets updated thus causing all pages from the secondary
    template to get updated?
Is there any way to go back and make b.dwt update
automatically whenever a.dwt gets updated? The scenario I have
right now is that I have to make certain site changes on both a.dwt
and b.dwt instead of just making the change on a.dwt and that
change flowing into b.dwt and its spawned pages.

    >I think what possibly happened is that I opened a.dwt and
    then made the
    > addition of the form element to a.dwt but then simply
    saved as b.dwt
    > instead of
    > FILE | New From Template
    Yes, I think that's a possible scenario.
    > There will be about 15 pages that will look the same
    (have the
    > same form) except that at the top it will say "Send mail
    to Person X"
    > where
    > Person X will change.
I see. Are you using "mailto:" on each of those forms? This
    method of
sending form data is notioriously unreliable, you know? It
    depends on a)
your visitor's browser knowing what to do with such a link,
    and b) your
visitor's email client knowing what to do with such a link,

visitor not being put off by the security alert message that
    may pop up when
they click. Nevermind the fact that it fails completely in
    public locations
that do not have an email client installed.
Why not do this the right way with server scripting? In that
    case you could
have a single page with a single form, and let the visitor
    select a name as
the recipient from a list/menu field.

  • Pages and Child Templates Not Updating

I'm having a problem in Dreamweaver CS5 where pages and child templates are not receiving updates made to the parent template. When I update the template, sometimes some files using that template will update, and some will not. Repeatedly updating the template sometimes forces the changes, but other times it does not.
For instance I was working on a 50 page site earlier, made up of 1 master template with 5 child templates. I made changes to the master template, and it went through the update process, saying all the child templates and files have been updated. However when I open some, not all, files, they are not updated.
I manually went through the entire site and hit 'update page from template', and that seemed to work. I opened a different site with only 1 template, did an update, and it only updated some of the files. I updated the template again, saved, and it then proceeded to update a few more randomly selected files.
This was happening sometimes in CS4, but in CS5 it has become a bigger problem. Please let me know how this can be resolved.
Edit: This is on a freshly reinstalled CS5 with all updates.

Sure. It's Dreamweaver MX Templates by Brad Halstead and myself - ISBN 0-7357-1319-7.  I spend quite a bit of time explaining nested templates.  Sadly, nowhere do I say you should avoid them.  But you should.
There is a master template that controls top level navigation and then five child templates that give different left-side navigation based on which section of the site the user is in. You can see this in action at www.homerenergy.com.
You should see how easy this is to do with server-side includes and a single template file.  It's the best of both worlds.
You can see this in action at www.homerenergy.com.
Yep.  http://validator.w3.org/unicorn/check?ucn_uri=http://www.homerenergy.com/&ucn_task=conform ance - even if you would leave the nested templates in place, you would sure want to fix those.
The section-specific navigation is very easy to manage either with template conditionals or with server-side includes.  You can see this site - http://www.ent-sys.com - where I have done the section navigation on interior pages with template conditionals.
However, your site is small, and simple.  Nested templates can work OK in such circumstances.  But I have never seen a use of nested templates that couldn't be done more simply with some other approach.

  • Wrongly updated the newest iOS for my iphone 3GS

As I pluged my iPhone 3GS into a new laptop, I wrongly updated the newest iOS version into my phone. This causes a few content loses and the phone runs very slowly. How can I restore/recover the right iOS at my 3GS? Thanks a lot.

Downgrading is not supported, so that is out of question.
About the lost contents. Plug your iPhone in to iTunes of your previous laptop (if you still have it); right click on your phone's name and hit "Restore from backup". Later you can move your iTunes library from your old laptop to your new laptop by following this.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer

Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer
First i install CS6 on the new computer
    copy the projects
    import the websites
Now, when i change any template the pages do not update any more. New pages working correct. Also manuell updating works.
    Any Idea?
Where are the info about the join template and the pages. Seems on the old computer - but where?
    Thx

    hm?
now I made a new page from the template on the new machine - and find one difference:
    New Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>....
    Old Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>...
The slash / after template=" is not there on the new machine. If i remove the slash on the copied pages and restart dreamweaver then it works. A lot of work, but i can solve my problem this way.
Maybe there is some checkbox for path handling...?

  • Dreamweaver template files updating, but javascript/jquery not being called on random pages.

    Hello,
I have been tasked with updating the navigation on a site that is using a Dreamweaver template (DWT) as the base file. The navigation was originally built using jQuery navigation UI, however this did not address all of our needs and I have updated it with another version of an accordion.
The .dwt file only is only controlling the navigation and the head of the site.
I have integrated the new xhtml structure and added/removed javascript/jquery into the .dwt file. I saved the file, therefore updating all of the relevant .html files, and verified that the accordion works.
However - the accordion does not work for all of the xhtml files. Some files, seemingly at random, are not pulling in the javascript.
When opening the relevant .html files, I can verify that they have all been updated with the new xhtml and the correct javasctipt. However, when viewing the .html files that are not displaying correctly with FireBug, I can see that none of the jquery/javascript is being applied to the navigation (classes are missing that are injected into the xhtml, but the structure and css is correct).
I've done some research and the only issues I've been able to find are related to .xhtml files not being updated with the correct code, but in my case all of the affected files have the correct xhtml and scripts in the head.
Does anyone have any light to shed on this subject? I am quite puzzled.

While I understand that looking at code is the ultimate way to find a solution, the intent of my question was not "how do i fix this" or "what is wrong with my code" but rather "does anyone have any idea as to why this would be happening". Or even, "where would you start to troubleshoot this".
I made my question general as such because I intended on trying to troubleshoot on my own in order to better understand the issue.
Thank you for stating the obvious, not all first time forum posters are completely unaware of how to ask questions properly.

  • Dreamweaver template not updating Contribute pages

Currently I'm trialing Dreamweaver (MX) and Contribute
    (3.11), to check
that it's a workable solution for my company, in terms of
    editing and
auditing, but right now I'm having a problem.
I have some templates (.dwt files) that I create in
    Dreamweaver, for
use with Contribute, i.e. I create the template, other people
    create
the content for our site based on the those templates.
The issue is that when I make a change to the template, I
    would expect
the pages created in Contribute to be refreshed to use the
    new
template, but that doesn't appear to be happening. The only
    way I can
get the page to be updated is to edit the page in Contribute,
    go to the
Format menu and choose 'Template Properties', then hit OK
    again to
close this dialog. I then see the page refresh with the new
    template
    changes.
Am I doing something wrong? I would expect, as I mentioned,
    to have all
pages automatically updated when the template is saved, and
    published.
Is there a setting I need to turn on, or a procedure of
    publishing the
template that I need to adhere to?
    any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Mark. While I think I've found most of
the things you mentioned since my first post, it is useful to get
confirmation of my finding, which appears to be consistent with
    your post.
Here's what I've found, and later, why I'm not really liking
    it:
If I edit the .dwt file in Dreamweaver and try to save it, I'm
prompted to only update those files I have locally that reference
    the template.
I can only update those local files that are checked out,
though the saving process will check them out automatically
If I create a new page using Contribute, I must refresh the
    templates first
    My concerns are:
if I can only update those files I have locally, then do I need
to have the whole remote site stored locally too? My company site
is huge (as it's translated into 6 languages) and has multiple
contributors/editors. It sounds like I will have to download the
entire site before I edit a template, and put it back again
afterwards. Is that right?? it sounds rediculous, so I'm sure I've
    got it wrong.
if I have the files locally, I must check them out before or
while saving the template. However, I then have to check them back
in manually. Again, with potentially 300 to 400 pages per template,
that's a lot of manual checking-in. If the saving process can
automatically check pages out, can it also automatically check them
    in again??
Like you, Mark, I find it strange that Contribute requires a
manual refreshing of templates. I've searched all the options I can
find, but I don't see an auto-refresh templates setting, which
would be sooo useful. As it stands I will have to instruct each
editor/contributor to refresh before they create a new page, and
    pray that they do.
any further advice from Contribute/Dreamweaver users would be
greatly appreciated. How do users with very large website handle
this? Are there any tricks or hints that you can pass on?

  • Template Not Updating Files

I am helping someone with implementing CSS on a website. She
created the entire site in Dreamweaver MX using one dreamweaver
template. I did a remote get of all the files from her ftp site,
including the template file. So now I have the entire directory
structure on my local computer as is what is on the server.
I opened her template file and added a link to the style
sheet I created. However when I went to save the template file,
dreamweaver didn't ask me if I wanted to update the files that were
created previously with this same template. What could be causing
the template to not update all of the HTML files associated with
it? Is it because they weren't created on my local machine?
Please help a VERY FRUSTRATED guy :-)

This is the problem - look at the markup below. You say that
    this is a child
page, yet the markup still uses -
    <!-- TemplateBegin....
which means that the page is NOT a child page, it is a
    template page. This
must mean that you used the wrong procedure to create your
    child pages -
rather than creating them with FILE | New > Templates >
    Site Name > Template
Name > Create, you must have just opened the template,
    added new content,
and then saved the page with an *.html extension. That will
    never work.
Your alternatives now are to recreate each page from this
    template, using
the proper method, and copy and paste your existing page
    content into the
new page, finally saving the new page over the old page. Do
    this for each
page you have created (or someone has created) improperly.

  • Template not updating pages properly

I have several pages, all started from the same template.  The path to an image in the template is   <img src="../index.php" width="140" height="200" alt="Balgonie Baptist Church Logo">  but on the pages that are updated from this template they are:
<img src="index.php" width="140" height="200" alt="Balgonie Baptist Church Logo">  .  The 2 periods from the source path are not there on the pages.  I think something like this happened before, what am I doing wrong?  I'm a newbe.

#1 .PHP is not an image extension. It is an HTML page containing server-side code.
Images should have file names with .jpg or .png or .gif.
#2 template.dwt files reside inside a Templates folder.  That's why links in templates contain the leading dots -- ../images/somefile.jpg
#3 When you create a new page from template and save it to the root of your site, DW correctly removes the leading dots for you -- images/somefile.jpg.  At least that's how it should work.
