Test Stand app builder

I would like to find out how to create a stand alone application out of the following scenario without either the LV
editor or the TS editor being present on the computer. (LV 7.1, TS 3.1, XP Pro) As far as I know you can't make an executable out of the TS software. It has to be called from a LV app.
1) I know how to use the LV Application Builder on strictly LV aplications.
2) I have a LV application as the main program. It calls the main TS sequence. It just has a tab control on the front
panel which uses active X controls to plug the TS responses into the LV controls. I have a Sequence File Tab, Execution Tab and a Report Tab as well as a button to control which TS execution model to run.
3) The TS software calls many LV vi's (not the main LV vi).
4) It has been debugged and works.
 Thats it.
How can I build an installable app (without the editors)?
I'm guessing that there are built in tools in both editors (besides the LV App builder) that need to be run in a
certain order to make this work.
Thanks.
GTB

Hi GTB,
After you have created your TestStand sequences, it is best to use TestStand Deployment Utility.  The tool is quite
simply to use as the Deploying
TestStand Systems KnowledgeBase and Chapter 14 of the TestStand Reference Manual
give you lots of assistance on using this utility.  Chapter 14 gives you
step by step instructions and information on properly deploying.
Overall, the steps that are mentioned in those documents
are:
1) Create a TestStand workspace (File » New Workspace File).
2) Create a new TestStand project and add it to the workspace (right-click your workspace file and select Insert
New Project into Workspace).
3) Add your TestStand sequence files.
4) Right-click on your workspace and select Insert
Code Modules. This step will grab all your code modules (LabVIEW VIs) and
add them to your workspace.
5) Launch the TestStand Deployment Utility (Tools » Deploy TestStand System)
You don't have to create any LLBs before using this utility.  Just add
your sequences, insert your code modules and then go through each tab in the
deployment utility and you should be good to go.
Let us know if you have any
more questions.
Best Regards,
Jonathan N.

  • Updating my .ipa in DPS App Builder for testing is not working

    Hi there,
I've build my .ipa file in DPS App Builder for testing on my iPad before I publish it to the app store. No problem. I tested it and saw some modifications to make. I made the changes on my folio, updated it in the folio builder of indesign (on the cloud). Then I get back to DPS App Builder and rebuild an .ipa file from the "Manage" and "Modify" windows, it download and test my certifates, seems to work ok. Then I've created the new .ipa file (after erasing the old one on my desktop and iTunes) but when I synch it back on my iPad it's not updated. It's still the first version of my folio without the changes.
I tried to create a new app from the beginning but the single edition serial number does not work anymore. So my only solution is to update my folio, right? But what is the right way to do it? Am I missing something? I didn't find any answer in the step by step guide about that.
Or is it possible to delete completly the first version in DPS App Builder to recreate it without losing my single edition serial number as I didn't submit it to Apple yet?
Do I have something to do in the Folio Producer?
    Thanks for your help.
    Julien.

Single Edition Serial is one time use thus modification is not possible from your end directly in case you wish to use the same serial number. For such cases you need to contact DPS Support, who can get an approval on a serial number reset after reviewing the need.
In this case, I'll take this offline with you in reference to forum post # http://forums.adobe.com/message/5597607.

  • Integrate Vision Builder 2009 (VBAI), into Test Stand 4.2.1?

Does anyone know of an easy way to integrate Vision Builder 2009 (VBAI), into Test Stand 4.2.1?
earlier versions of Vision Builder seem to accomidate this very easily.  But i have not found the same ease to make this work in the newest version.  any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your support.
Well...yes I followed the instructions in the ReadMe.html file.
I have loaded the sequence "Vision Builder AI TestStand Examples.seq" into TestStand.
TestStand crashes after some delay  when trying to select the first test step "Run Inspection once".
TestStand obviously has problems loading the Vision Builder API functions and the engine (whatever is necessary).
As I could not succeed testing VBAI 2010 from TestStand, I then tried the LabVIEW example which is also located
    in the \examples folder.
I had no problems loading the "LabVIEW API Examples (Local).vi" into LabVIEW 2010 and execute it.
This example works without any problems with a simple USB Webcam.
I can test different "Inspections" and studied the API functions in this VI.
So the problem is only related to TestStand.
I am wondering whether TestStand has problems with the evaluation version of VBAI 2010.
When executing the LabVIEW example the VBAI engine asks me first if I want to evaluate the software (as it is not activated yet).
I never reach this point from TestStand. It crashes before.
Another point is that I am asking myself why the test step "Run Inspection Once" is the first test step the TestStand sequence.
Comparing the sequence of steps with the LabVIEW VI, you can see that there is a differnce in the initialisation sequence.
The LabVIEW VI launches "VBAI Interface - Launch VBAI Engine.vi" first before all other API VIs.
I could try to change the TestStand sequence and introduce additional initialisation steps before "Run Inspection Once".
I simply fear that TestStand crahses again before I have been able to change the sequence.
Ok...another thought...on your system it is working fine using the example TestStand sequence?
This means that the initialisation of the VBAI engine is automatically executed.
Which process is responsible to initialise the VBAI engine in TestStand?
Perhaps I have to configure something ...somewhere in TestStand.
Ok... that's it for now... i will try out a couple of things....
    Thanks again for your support

  • Exception in javascript library when testing Mail app with IE9/ Safari

    Hi,
I have almost finished my mail app, but a strange issue that only appears with IE9 prevents me from successfully completing the verification process and therefore I can not publish my app.
The issue is very similar to this post, which could unfortunately not have been answered so far:
'OSF is undefined' script error in o15apptofilemappingtable.js
    file when Mail App launched
I have tested the app successfully with the following browsers: Chrome (40.0.2214.111 m), Firefox (35.0.1), IE 11 and IE 10.
    In IE9 I first get:
    App
    Error Something
went wrong and we couldn't start this app. Please try again later or contact your system administrator.
    When
I then click "retry" I get:
    App
    Error This
app may not load properly, but you can still try to start it.
    After
I click start the app works. The debug console of IE indicates that there is a problem in the o15apptofilemappingtable.js file:
SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'GetContext' o15apptofilemappingtable.js, line 11 character 110934
The problem should be the call to: "window.external.GetContext()" in the file mentioned above.
Important to mention is, that when I build and deploy the sample mail project that ships with Visual Studio it just works fine (this is a difference to the other thread from above). There must be something special with my code but even after days of research
I can absolutely not figure out what it is. In contrast to the sample mail app, my project is an ASP.NET MVC application by the way (if that is important).
To isolate the problem I tried several things:
    * I have removed all other javascript libraries to make sure that there are no conflicts between them.
    * I removed all javascript code except the Office.initialize= ...
code to be sure that there isn't a problem with my custom javascript code.
But whatever I tried it doesn't help and basically I am fishing in troubled waters as I do not have an idea what the real problem is and why it is only happening on IE9.
    Best regards
    Stefan

    Hi,
in the meantime I noticed that I also get this problem with Safari.
I started to debug the office api and could isolate the problem further.
Please forward the following information to the responsible microsoft engineer as it contains valuable information to fix the problem.
The Exception I get happens becaus of a call to window.external.GetContext() in in the o15apptofilemappingtable.js.  The calls happens because in the function OSF.InitializationHelper.prototype.getAppContext, the value of this._hostInfo.isRichClient
is true. Looks like in IE9 and Safari the api thinks it is running in the desktop version of outlook (but of course it is not and therefore the call to window.external fails -> I guess only available/set in desktop environment).
The api thinks of running as rich client becaus the XdmInfoValue does not exist in o15apptofilemappingtable.debug.js line 155 (it is undefined). I am not a javascript specialist and don't know what xdm stands for (cross domain? X-Document?) but however:
the xdm part which should be passed in the window.location as a hash value is not set in IE9/ Safari.
At this position I lose the scent and don't know where the xdm part is passed/added to the url. Perhaps in the osfruntime.js? Unfortunately I couldn't find a debug version of this file.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Is there a way to create a database with Test Stand?

Anyone know of a way to have Test Stand create a database? My company standard MS Office suite is Microsoft Access 2010, and TestStand does not support the .accmdb extension type(format), so I have to create new databases using old formats. I'm worried about backwards compatability down the road since good ole Microsoft doesn't seem to care about legacy formats.
I'm still a beginner with databasing, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TestStand 2012 SP1, and  we are using a modified Generic Recordset (NI). The problem we are having right now is that the Build SQL instructions are not creating the database tables the way we are configuring them from the "Statements" and "Column/Parameters" tabs under Database Options.
What is happening is when we validate the schema, and drop all schema tables, it empties all the database tables, but then when you build using the TestStand generated sql file, we get errors(shown below) we are not understanding, and we can no longer write to the database and LabVIEW throws a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" error like this
    "Possible reason(s):

  • DPS APP Builder Error Code 1

    Hello,
I'm getting an Error Code 1 message when trying to download the test APP from the DPS APP Builder. I've tried re-building the document (a process that takes almost 8 hours in my case as our APP features 110 articles including almost 1000 images), updating it, generating new certificates and any other workaround mentioned in a previous discussion about this same subject. Nothing worked for me.
The only workaround I haven't tried is deleting the folio from ~/Library/Preferences/StageManager.BD092818F67280F4B42B04877600987F01 11B594.1/Local Store/dmp.
Apparently, there's nothing called "StageManager" in my MacBook Pro. Not in this route neither in any other route.
Any idea about how to solve this? (if possible without re-building once again the whole document) We can't wait until the error code 1 bug is fixed in future Adobe updates as we need to submit the APP to Apple next week.
    Thanks for your time.

    Anyone can help??
    Update my latest experimental results.
I found that issue was folio package related.
Because when I use another folio package to the same app item in App Builder, this error message does not appear.
But the original package in exchange, this error information occurs.
Are there helpful to solve this problem?

  • How to delete an old app in DPS App Builder?

    Hi,
I was wondering how to delete an old app in DPS App Builder when the delete button is inactive?
I had purchased a single edition and build an iPad App. After download the Developer app from DPS App Builder and tested on my iPad, I'd found some page number errors so I'd created a new app. Inorder to activate app, I need to insert the serial number. But it says "this serial number already been redeemed".  Is it because I already use it to build the old app? If so, how to delete the old app because the delete button is inactive for the old app but the new one?
Thank you so much for your kindly help, really appreciated!!!

You need to call product support and have them reset your serial number. In the future you should test your content thoroughly using Adobe Content Viewer before building your app with the serial number. We make it rather painful to update when you are using a serial number for single edition

  • LabVIEW 5.1.1 App Builder doesn't work on WinXP or 2k?

    G'Day All,
I have a client that needs some apps written in LabVIEW 5.1.1 built into exe's, but I've found that once I install the App Builder on my Windows XP and 2000 PCs, I get "dist build app image subvi is not executable" - I've tried opening the wiring diagram to fault find, but it is understandably passworded. Has anyone come across this problem, and if so, how do I get around it?

LabVIEW 5.1.1 is not supported under Windows XP. The first LabVIEW version that we tested and do officially support under this OS is 6.1.
On Windows 2000, you may get this error if you install the Application Builder 5.1.1 on the machine that has LabVIEW 5.1 on it. Both versions have to be the same.

  • Need Help testing iOS app created in Flash Pro Cs5.5

I've followed several instructions on how to develop a simple iOS app. I've managed to go all the way through and Publish + create the .ipa. I'm able to then add the file to my iTunes library, but when I then try to add it to my iPod Touch (2nd Generation) I get the following error:
The app "XXXXXX" was not installed on the iPod "XXXXX's Ipod" because it is not compatible with this iPod.
I've even tried it with a simple "Hello World!" app but I get the same error.
I'm using Flash Pro Cs5.5 on a Windows PC.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having the exact same problem with my iphone 3G. I tried publishing the exact same simple flash app to my iphone, which I already previously tested succesfully, after having downloaded flash 5.5, and now I get the following message (which, I believe, is identical to yours kinant87) :
"The app "Main" was not installed on the iPhone "Norgaard" because it is not compatible with this iPhone."
I was trying to make another small app, when I got this problem, which is why I went back to re-test the app I knew was working!
I've reinstalled all my apple certificates, and also tried using flash builder 4.5, with the same result.
I also have not jail broken my phone, and was starting to think perhaps the iPhone 3G was no longer supported?

  • NOT FOUND WCE2013 (update 5 or 11) Platform builder and Embedded App Builder in VS2013 update 4

    Hi MS MVP,
    I installed WCE2013 update 5 on VS2013 update 4 in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 successfully.
However, Open VS2013, I cannot found BSP builder and App builder.
I guess .net updates in Windows update causes the PROBLEM.
    I trialed some test case:
    - Install WCE2013 update5 on Win8.1 x64, VS2013 update2 : only see BSP builder in new project templates, BUT App builder missing. After upgrading VS2013 to update 4, BSP builder disappears in new project templates.
    - Install WCE2013 update5 on Win7 x64: not thing changes in VS2013 update4. Downgrade VS2013 to update2 gets similar failure.
    Please HELP!

I didn't answered my question, but I got it to work without having to re-install.
Delete all these files and folders from the eclipse/plugins and eclipse/features folder of your Flash Builder installation folder
    com.adobe.cslib
    com.adobe.inverurie
    com.adobe.xmp
Open the CS Extension Builder plugin package
Copy all .jar files from the plugin directory and paste them into the eclipse/plugins folder of the Flash Builder installation
Copy all .jar files from the features directory and paste them into the eclipse/features folder of the Flash Builder installation
Extract every jar (ex: com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034.jar file is extracted into a com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034 folder)
    Delete the .jar files
    Restart Flash Builder
Everything works fine so far. There is a small glitch where the "CS Extension Builder Start Page" seems to miss its stylesheet, but the panel is working anyway. At this point, it's fine by me. And I'm still not able to uninstall the plugin with the "Installed Software" window (the button is grayed out).
So much for being lazy. And for wanting to repair my mistakes, of course.

  • App Builder/Run Time Install Broke?

I have full up version of LabView 5.1.1, running on Win98.
I went through the Application Building Example on page 12 of the
    Application Buidler release notes.
I then installed the sample app on another Win98 box. The application
installation went OK until it ran the install for the LabVIEW runtime.
Then I got the following error:
    "Setup Initialization Error
Setup requires a different version of Windows. Check to make sure that
you are running Setup on the Windows platform for which it is intended.
    Error 102."
I also get this same error if I run the LabVIEW runtime install
    directly.
As I said, both machines are Win98. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Mike T

I am not sure if this is your exact problem but you might try it . I found
with the run time in 5.1 would not install properly . On the target machine
I did a runtime engine install from the APP builder disk , not from the 5.1
disk . Then things seem to get sorted out after that . I still haven't been
able to do a stand alone disk that installs the runtime engine and
application together yet. More for the lack of trying after I got a work
around (I hope?) . That was with win95 and 5.1 , not sure if the same sort
of thing will be true for 5.1.1 and win 98.
    Hope that helps

  • Test Stand LabView adapter 8.6 run time will not run 8.5 VIs

I’m trying to run a script I developed with a dev computer on
a regular PC set up with a Test Stand User Gui, and run times for Test Stand
    and Labview.
With the Test Stand Labview adapter set to 8.6.1 all of my
ENA(Agilent Network Analyzer) calls fail for “VI Version is too early to
convert  to the current  LabVIEW version.”  The ENA library is written in 8.5.  If I set the adapter to 8.5.1 then all of the
VIs developed in 8.6 fail.  In addition
it will not run any VIs that I save back to 8.5.  I installed a demo Labview development
version (2010?) and everything ran fine with the adapter set to Development
    System.
I am not sure what to try next to get it to run on the
    regular PC, any hints.
    Test Stand = 4.2
    LabView = 8.6

One of the many things I tried was saving the ENA library to 8.6, but I could not get it work.
This is the Original library I installed and was trying to Convert (8.0 upgrade agena.zip)

I am about to try this one. (8.2.1 Upgrade)

I am pretty new to labview so I am not sure how to make the save to previous version workfor libraries, but I can easily do it with individual VIs.  For libraries, it creates a new directory, and puts in all of the files and then asks me about saving the lib files as something else.  This is where I think I get it wrong.  I tried it again today and got the same results.
    I greatly appreciate the Help

  • What is test stand ? Why is it used, how to get going ?

    Hello All,
I am LabVIEW user and very new to test stand, have few basic questions,
    1. Why teststand was introduced ?
    2. In LabVIEW we write VI's and build a project to execute a big task, how is this done in teststand?
    3. I did download some of the pdf from NI website, but not able to visualise what needs to be done,
Pls do share if you have more insight to Teststand.
    Thanks

    Hey systemcrash,
I will try and answer your questions the best I can:
    1. http://www.ni.com/teststand/whatis/
TestStand is an automated test executive (ATE).  It is an off the shelf solution which makes your life easier.  It handles report generation, user management, sequencing (i.e. test flow), result collection, pass/fail analysis, common User Interface, database logging, etc...  Basically, all the crap you don't want to develop in LabVIEW.  But it gives you consistency and commonality for all your tests.  If you look at the layers of the test system TestStand would be at the top like this:
    TestStand
    LabVIEW (or other software)
    Hardware Drivers
    Instruments
    UUT (unit under test)
    2. In TestStand you have the development environment (Sequence Editor) and the User Interface.  They can both execute tests.  The User Interface is an application written in LabVIEW (or other programming languages, ships with TestStand) which gets deployed to a test station so that testers can execute your test.  It does not have the ability to edit the test (in TestStand tests are called Sequence Files).  However, the Sequence Editor can edit the tests and would be used on the development machine.  There is a deployment utility in TestStand which allows you to create an installer.  In that installer you would include the TestStand Engine, the User Interface and all the dependencies for your test (Sequence File).  Then the user just opens the User Interface and runs it.
    3. NI does offer TestStand courses which can be helpful.  I recommend going through these PDFs though first:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373200c.pdf
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/323436a.pdf
You will get more out of the classes if you have starting playing around with it first.
    Hope this helps.

  • USB/Serial Drivers and App Builder Installer Questions...are drivers included in the Installer with the LV runtime engine?

    Hello all,
I'm wondering if someone can help me out with how drivers and all are treated with applications distributed with App Builder, used to create a stand alone, full install of app and labview engine with Installer.
What has happened  is, my application was created using the NI branded USB to RS232...and USB to RS485, and they work great.
On the application when running..you fire it up, it finds the USB to serial device, and I have a dropdown that finds the available COM ports to use (along with setting parity, etc).
I've installed on different computers (without previous labview installs) with the installer. They all worked.
The customer has received the installer....and despite us telling them to use the NI branded USB/Serial interfaces..they are trying to work with a different USB/serial cable.
They say the COM ports aren't even showing up when they run the installed application.
So, I'm not sure where to start. Is this a driver issue?  Does the App Builder Installer...install the drivers for the interfaces I was using with it? Is there a way for the person to find and install a driver on their own...or would I have to somehow find out a driver for what they use....then, basically redo the App Builder Installer build...to include that driver with the executable I send back out?
I guess I basically need a better understanding of how drivers for external access/communications are handled when you use App Builder to create a stand alone application complete with the labview runtime engine...and nothing else.
    Thank you in advance,
    cayenne

The main thing is that LV uses VISA to talk to serial port whether native on the machine or from USB dongles that you plug into the computer. It sounds to me like their dongles aren't working.
Can the customer see the ports in the Windows Device Manager? Can they access them through something like hyperterminal? How does your program find the USB/Serial devices?
