Text Resource

Hello,
I have a quick question concerning Text Resource.
For example, after creating a notification we can edit and modify its content. However is there a way to modify the name of the notification ?
Or only solution is to copy and create a new notification ?
Regards,
Raph

i don't think so... however you MAY be able to pull off your config XML file and find the appropriate tags in there, alter their values, and reload the file.
i vote for copying the stuff to a new resource, however. having staging profiles and policies and such that you can test with is.a.good.habit!

  • How to set text resources avoiding automatic page update with c:set tag

    Hello everyone,
    I'm developing my web application with JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 in order to support two language locales (en and de). Following this guide I've performed the following steps:
    Creation of two property files (Resources.properties and Resources_de.properties) with the key-value entries;
    Modify of faces-config.xml file adding these lines:
    <locale-config>
            <default-locale>en</default-locale>
            <supported-locale>de</supported-locale>
      </locale-config>
      <resource-bundle>
          <base-name>view.Resources</base-name>
          <var>res</var>
       </resource-bundle>
    In the project properties > Resources Bundle I've checked:
    Automatically Synchronize Bundle;
    Warn about Hard-coed Translatable Strings;
    Always Prompt for Description.
    In the same place I've set the default project bundle name to view.Resources.
    In a test JSP page I've a outputText with the value #{res['HELLOWORLD']} where HELLOWORLD is the key in the property files. All works fine, and the correct string is shown based on locale browser settings.
    Anyway, when I use the "Select Text Resources..." menu in any text value choosing a value from the default property file, JDev automatically adds the following tag:
    <c:set var="customuiBundle" value="#{adfBundle['view.ViewControllerBundle']}"/>
    setting the value of the text in #{ViewControllerBundle.HELLOWORLD}.
    There is a way to avoid this behavior? Can I manage the resources in a different way? I would to choose a value from the list in order to get the res.KEY value instead of ViewControllerBundle.KEY value.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Manuel

    don't select from menu - go to source and write it . The problem with the tools is they have a certain way of doing things and don't think we should spend time customizing jdeveloper rather concentrate on the work in hand.

  • 11g Add Text  Resource Values in a Resource Bundle (Bug? - minor)

    Hi,
    When you are adding a new Text Resource Value in a Resource Bundle the "Save and Select" button becomes active only when you enter a value for "Description". I believe we should be able to input text resources having no Description if we would like so.
    Notice that the "Project Properties/ Resource Bundle / Always Prompt for Description" check box is not selected.
    Best Regards,
    Elias.

    I have made a small mistake in the post above as the line
    *<c:set var="viewBundle" value="#{adfBundle}"/>*
    should be read as
    *<c:set var="viewBundle" value="#{adfBundle\['nsi.isbs.uicli.bundles.ResponsesBundle'\]}"/>*
    The forum application removed the content inside square brackets because I had not escaped the brackets in the text.

I received errors for swatches, gradients, contours, patterns, styles, system shapes, and the tool presets. • How to Get Resource value which are referred in code behind file using IResourceProvider

    Hi Everyone,
    Currently I'm working on moving the Resource file from "App_GlobalResources" to Database by using IResourceProvider. I created a CustomResourceProvider project using ResourceProviderFactory and able to get the resource values from DB which
    are used in aspx page.
    But i'm not able to get the values which are referring from code behind file.
    Ex: Label1.Text = Resources.Common.Car; // This is still coming from resx file.
    Can any one please let me know how to get the value from DB instead of resx file which are referred in cs file.
    Appreciate your help.
    The below code uses the ResourceProviderFactory which calls this method and gets it from DB. Please let me know if you need any more info.
    public class DBResourceProviderFactory : ResourceProviderFactory
            public override IResourceProvider CreateGlobalResourceProvider(string classKey)
                return new DBResourceProvider(classKey);
            public override IResourceProvider CreateLocalResourceProvider(string virtualPath)
                 // we should always get a path from the runtime
                string classKey = virtualPath;
                if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(virtualPath))
                    virtualPath = virtualPath.Remove(0, 1);
                    classKey = virtualPath.Remove(0, virtualPath.IndexOf('/') + 1);
                return new DBResourceProvider(classKey);

  • Local Resource not being read from database

    I created a Customer Resource Provider for my project.
    This provider is executing properly for Global resource requests (see sample #1 reference below).
    However, for Local resource references (see Sample #2 below), it is not loading anything.  Can anybody help out or spot what is wrong?

    Based on your description, this issue is related to the Web development, am I right?
    Since the ASP.NET has his own support forums, so if it is related to the web project, I suggest you post this issue to the ASP.NET forum, and there you would get dedicated support.

  • Java.text.* i18n

    Sorry in advance if this is not the correct area for this question. I posted this in i18n, but there doesn't seem to be a high level of activity in that group. So I'm cross-posting here in the hopes of a response to a basic question.
    According to the FAQ's sun.* packages should not be used. I've been reviewing some older apps that use sun.text.*, sun.text.resources.* for i18n stuff. What packages/classes should be used instead? I'm thinking java.text.* .. but as there is no documenation on the sun.* packages I'm a bit in the dark.
    Any hints/links/advice would be greatly appreciated

    Are you refering to the DateFormats and Locales that
    are in sun.text.resources? Yes
    What classes are being used? sun.text doesn't look like anything in
    java.text. DateFormatZoneData and LocaleData.

    The English and German versions of UI are working fine; however, the Chinese version is missing.
    I checked inside the generated JAR file (company.com~i18ntest.jar) and found the following files :

    There is no *_zh.properties file in there !
    I am wondering whether I have missing something or WD-Java for CE 7.10 does

  • Internationalization-How to change JHeadstart Generator Text default

    Hi everybody,
    I want to know if it is possible to change the jheadstart generator text defaults ( like save, go, find, details ,advanced search, quick search, ...).
    Besides, is it possible to add a non-supported language to jag. I have read the internationalization section and it says that users should "Translate the entries in the generated Resource Bundle for their locale." but suppose that you have a lot of generated page, then you forced to change a lot of generated text. Isn't it possible to change or add our local translation of jheadstart generator text and then benefit form reusing them ?
    Best Regards,
    Navid

    I also found the below paragraph in the help section of Generator default locale Property in the application definition file. I had seen this in the previous releases and I was exactly searching for this functionality. But, I believe this is not for the 10.1.3 version since we don't have JAGLauncher.jar in the 10.1.3. I also tried to use this method to oracle.jheadstart.addins.jag.10.1.3.jar but it does not have any effects.What am I doing wrong ?
    Best Regards,

    "The Locale used to look up the generator text resource bundle, for example GeneratorText_en.properties. English (en) and a few other languages are shipped with JHeadstart. If you generate with a non-supported language, you will get English texts in your Resource Bundle, which you can then translate. You can easily add your own locale by copying and translating the GeneratorText_en.properties (which you can find in the JAGLauncher.jar file) and putting it in the Java class path. When Enable NLS property is set to true, preventing the generation of hardcoded text, this property is used to construct the NLS resource bundle name. Allowable values: add the right language to your browser settings and take the first or only abbreviation mentioned there. (default value = en) "
