There has to be a quick audio fix.

Suddenly when I drag clips from the bin to the timeline, it doesn't bring the audio. These clips do have audio, and now even the clips that I dragged yesterday, when the audio was fine, aren't dragging their audio onto the line. I must have switched something, right?
  Mac OS X (10.4.8)

So, somehow I fixed it, by resetting the sequence settings, I think (God I'm a noob) but Now, each new clip I drag in, which I am laying text over, requires a new track to be added so I can have my text over it. I can see the video and audio clips trying to go in, but each new track makes them split further and further, I can't just have them be on T1 and A1.
Also, it seems like Final Cut is moving really sluggish which seems strange because I would have thought the machine I'm running it on would be able to handle it.

  • Please Help! There has to be a quick .js fix for Spry dropdown to work for iPads...

    I know I can upgrade, download, purchase or any combination of these to get and use a new dropdown menu format that would work, but that is not what I want to work on learning today.  Our top coder/developer is out of town right now, and I am just trying to fix a menu bar that was done in CS4 with Spry 1.6.1, and I have to believe that someone out there knows the fix to get it to work on an ipad.  I can make the parent li not a link and it still does not work.  Here is my .JS code:

    SpryMenuBar.js
    This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar.  You should have no need
    to edit this file.  Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
    used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
    menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
    showing that submenu until the timer fires.

  • There has to be a fix to this!

    Everytime that I try to play songs that I have purchased, it asks me to authorize my computer. I have many times and it still don't work. I have even deleted the sc folder contents and even that didn't work. I have de-authorized then re-authorized and that did not work. I deleted free songs and that didn't work. I have logged on as administrator and tried a few things and that didn't work. Sometimes, after I plug my ipod in and authorize my pc before trying to play a song, my purchased songs will play. (***???)
    I am trying to avoid re-installing iTunes.
    There has to be a fix for this. Do I really have to get a zune to have a mp3 player that works when I want it to???
    PLEASE HELP!

    I posted the issue above. I forgot to mention one more thing. If I don't plug my ipod in and then authorize my computer, sometime the songs will play. If I plug my ipod in and try and play the song off the ipod, not only will they not play but now the songs that were playing on iTunes wont play.
    What's going on here???

  • IPhone - serious email issue - there has to be a fix?

    Iphone Model MC608LL
    Version 4.3.1
    Firmware 4.10.10
    Cellular ATT
    Mail Charter
    I have a new iPhone. It will not drop the mail connection to the email server. Please read the following thread before responding if you would please. I have been working on this for days, I am not a super techie, but I do know what is happening, but also that there has to be a fix for this, or the iPhone has a serious flaw. Or, if needed, instead of 'flaw' I will just say a serious shortcoming compared to every other smartphone on the market!
    Thanks, I hope you can help. If I can't get this fixed soon, I am going to switch back to my WM Blackjack (old model, not even the BJII)!
    There is a lot more information here (I'm working this with ATT as well).

    OK got this figure out. Thanks for your help!
    Here the deal (with Office 2003, not sure about newer versions). Originally I just set the incoming server to imap.charter.net and tested. Now this was with my existing pop accounts (Outlook). The rest of the settings looked the same as they should for imap. That test failed as I mentioned.
    What you need to do is delete the pop account completely and then add it back. When adding it back, there is an option for imap, pop or others.
    Now when the account is setup, it does looks identical to the pop account with the exception being of course the incoming server is imap.charter.net and not pop.charter.net. But there are obviously other settings/changes that are made when an imap account is created.
    Bottom Line.
    1) Delete all of your PC/Laptop Outlook pop accounts (don't modify).
    2) Recreate them all as imap accounts.
    3) Set your iPhone up as instructed (all imap).
    Thanks again for your help, I hope this helps others too. As another poster mention, this could be a charter thing, if so now we know!

    Hi DSfromMO2,
    I have this happening to me too... it is frustrating enough for me to pitch my computer out the 4th floor office window.  I found somewhere on these forums a solution which worked for me, but only for a short time.  I'm back to having this stupid glitch.  Anyway, the "temporary" solution seems to be to boot into Safe Mode by holding the Shift button down when you hear the startup chime, then let go when you see the Apple logo on the screen.  You'll see you've done it right because it'll say Safe Mode somewhere on screen (upper right hand corner?).  Restart again normally and your Mail should be free from these weird demons, but they'll be back.

    help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

    There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
    If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • Ok there has to be a
    I have transfered music from my Jukebox2 to my Zen vision by doing a mass transfer i.e. clicked on all music of course it took a couple of hrs to do, some of the music files went into folders by artists then album and a lot of them went straight to the root directory of the Zen (very annoying, and was part of the problem?for?the other post I put up), i deleted all of them and just tried to do an artist at a time however all the songs went to the root directory again, so now I have found that only a few songs from each album has been stored in the Zen correctly and I have to compare each albums songs and do a tranfer that way skipping all duplicates, a very long task there has to be an easier way or a fix for this problem.
    The Zen vision and other newer MP3/Video players are MTP devices.
    This is a change from older style MP3 players that where just a flash device that plugged in, and when you copied files you copied them to a FAT6/32 file system.
    With the newer devices the MTP protocol "tells" the device about the file and recommends where to store it.
    But ultimately the computer is issolated from directly accessing the file system on the device.
    (Personally I think this was done as Microsoft has started to enforce their FAT file system patents, and the media players wanted to get away from using a FAT file system.)??What does this mean:? Well it means you see the issues you are seeing now.
    Depending on how you are "viewing" the media player device sometimes you are actually seeing a representation of the directory structure on the multimedia device, and other times you are seeing a "view" of how the device "thinks" you want to see your content.
    If you don't have any ID3 tags on music, it often "appears" to be in a root folder when the music is viewed/listed on the device, as the system doesn't know where to put the file in the "virtual" view of the file system.
    If it is tagged with artist/album etc....you tend to see the Artist/Album/Song view. Many of the media transfer applications try to "cook the books" and force the music into specific folders, or modify tags to maintain a standard view of the music on the device.
    Unfortuantly this means that if you try to transfer content using two different tools "Creative Mediasource Organizer" vs. "WMP" you can end up with duplicate files as discussed in other threads. What can you do about it:Use the Creative Media toolbox tool to clean up the audio tags for yoru files, or at least the ones that don't seem to be getting "put" into the right place.
    Unfortunatly I have not found an easier way of really taking care of this, and the same problem occured on my sansa as well as my Zen Vision M. So I know its not a creative labs specific problem.
    The only way I have been able to get consistant organization and view s of files is to clean up the artists/album tags prior to transfer to the device, and?always use the same media transfer application. I would check out the file tagging on the files that are not getting put into the correct directories, and my best guess would be they have partial or incomplete tags that don't include the full artists/album/title information.
  • Is firmware update (G4 Sawtooth audio fix) mandatory for upgrading to OSX?
    Ive heard that you have to use the old Mac OS 9.1 to update the G4's firmware before installing OSX tiger. My problem is that ive bought a G4 without any existing operating systems and only have OSX tiger to put on it. I think the firmware is just an audio fix or something,
    has anyone updated without it?
    Sorry but no. You have to use Classic to update it. Yeah well PC has no need to update firmware becuase they don't use Open Firmware, I think it's a UNIX thing. Not really sure on it, but if you'd like to know you can go to http://www.openfirmware.org
    By the way, if you want Classic I can send you a disk that worked for my G4 AGP, I ordered two by accident. It installed in literally 2 minutes. It's extremely easy to install and it's worth it, booting up with new firmware is quicker. Not by much, but with a 450 mhz processor you'll notice the difference!
  • Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000
    Issue:
    Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000
    Scenario:
    1. All the crystal reports are designed by using Crystal Report 2008 Version -- 12.3.0.601
    2. All reports are uploaded to CMC (SAP Business Objects Enterprise XI, Product: 12.1.0)
    3. using Front-End .net Winform
    4. Crystal Report is binding is done using Business View Manager (since having more than one databases)
    5. Business View Manager Connects to Oracle using "Oracle Server" connection
    6. Loading reports as follows
    string queryString = string.Empty;
    SessionMgr sessionMgr = new SessionMgr();
    EnterpriseSession enterpriseSession = sessionMgr.Logon(userName, userPassword, serverName, authType);
    EnterpriseService enterpriseService = enterpriseSession.GetService("InfoStore");
    InfoStore infoStore = new InfoStore(enterpriseService);
    enterpriseService = enterpriseSession.GetService("PSReportFactory");
    Object psrfObject = enterpriseService.Interface;
    PSReportFactory psReportFactory = (PSReportFactory)psrfObject;
    queryString = "Select SI_CUID, SI_ID, SI_NAME, SI_PARENTID From CI_INFOOBJECTS " + "Where SI_PROGID='CrystalEnterprise.Report' " + "And SI_ID=" + ReportId;
    InfoObjects infoObjects = infoStore.Query(queryString);
    InfoObject infoObject = infoObjects[1];
    ReportDocument crDoc = new ReportDocument();
    crDoc.Load(infoObject, enterpriseSession);
    7. All the reports are getting loaded properly and i am able to dynamically set the report parameters
    8. After executing report, some of the reports take more than 10 minutes, due to which shows following error
    Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000
    Note i have done following:
    1. I have checked stored procedure running through oracle for more than 10 minutes (1 hr, 2 hrs)
    2. Tried simply running crystal report without front-end running perfectly more than 10 minutes (1 hr, 2 hr)
    3. When i run .net winform application for specific reports which takes long time, gives "Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000"
    Also i have done lot much R&D and spent almost weeks to get resolution but not getting any solution out of it, please help me in this case
    Still i am getting same error, please help me, if you have any idea, clue with respect to this error on winform
    This error is specific to RAS. The default CORBA request timeout is 10 minute = 600000 ms. When the RAS SDK does not get the reponse back from RAS server in 600000 ms it throws this message. Why it works in InfoView\CMC what I believe you refer to as "Front End' application is because InfoView\ CMC don't use RAS.
    1. First make sure that a smaller report wich runs pretty fast ( 1-2 min) works. This will confirm that there is no connectivitiy issues between RAS and RAS SDK.
    2. If you get the efrror for every single report, even the smaller ones, make sure the box running RAS and RAS SDK code( in case they are 2 different) can ping each other with IP, shortname and FQDN. If there is a firewall between them, the RAS port needs to be opened for bidirectional communication. By default RAS chooses a random port for communication with SDK but within CMC you can configure it to use a specific port and open it.
    3. If the issue is specific only to reports that are long running, typically more than 10 minutes, then you need to inclease the CORBA timeout to a value more than what the reports typically would take to process. This is done on client code side or IIS in this case.
    Here are the steps:
    Make the following changes on the application server/system.
    Open RegEdit by going to Start > Run and typing in regedit.exe. Then click Ok.
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Report Application Server\Client SDK\CorbaAdapter
    Change the value of SendRequestTimeout(ms) to 100000.
    Change the value of WaitReplyTimeout(ms) to 6,000,000 ms. The default value is 600,000 ms and may not be long enough.
    Restart IIS by going to Start > Run and typing in iisreset. Then click Ok.
    Retry the failing application.
    This error should be easy to fix
  • I cannot sign into App Store. "unknown error" and then "We cannot complete your request. There has been an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)"
    I cannot sign in to the App Store.
    I changed countries a few months ago and updated all my account info and everything was working fine, until recently, while trying to upgrade my softwear to Mavericks, which I cannot do. My apple Username and password work fine on iTunes and on my iPhone. I can also access all my account info when I sign in through the website. It just will not work for the App Store on my Mac Pro.
    When I click "Welcome" under Quick Links it asks me to sign in. I sign in with my Apple Username and Password and then it DOES NOTHING
    When I click on "Free Upgrade" and then "Install" on the mavericks software, it asks me to sign in again. This time it says "unknown error" and then it says "We cannot complete your request. There has been an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)"
    I''m completely blocked. I cannot procede without being able to update my software.
    Please help me.
    You could try this.
    Back up all data.Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Reboot and test. If there's no change, restore the item you deleted from a backup, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, you may need to recreate some of your settings in the Network preference pane.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
