Have any of you had experience using the XPDL file generated by the Process flow component of OWB to execute the Workflow in non-oracle Commercial and/or Open source Workflow engines?
If so I'd like to hear about it. I'm attempting to do the same and think that the Oracle Workflow component is too much work.
    I appreciate your responses.

  • RED Workflow questions with Mac Pro (including third party plugins)

    Hello all,
I’ve been searching many forums for the better part of a day trying to get some workflow questions sorted. I’m experiencing (very) slow export times, and mediocre playback for a machine that should be screaming fast.
Here is what I’m working with:
    2014 Mac Pro
    -2.7 GHz 12-core intel xeon E5
    -64GB Ram
    -Dual AMD FirePro D700 6GB
    -1TB Flash Storage
Editing all footage off 96TB Raid 6 mini-sas server (getting about 1100mbs read/write rate according to AJA system test) which is faster than any Thunderbolt/TB2 drive array I have.
Media I work with is footage from the RED Epic (normally 5K) as well as DSLR footage from the 5d.
    Software:
    -PrPro CC 2014 (8.1)
    -Magic Bullet Looks 2.5.2
My question(s) pertains to RED post-pro workflow in combination with third party plug-ins and the different approaches to make it more efficient.
Right now, majority of the clients need a 1080p HD master, and they are generally anywhere from 2-8 minutes (usually). So my sequence settings are as follows:
    Video:
    Editing Mode: RED Cinema
    Size: 1920 x 1080
    Audio: 48Hz
    Video Previews
Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
    Codec: MPEG I-Frame
    1920x1080
    Maximum Bit Depth unchecked
    Maximum Render Quality unchecked
    Composite in Linear Color checked
    Export Settings
    H.264
    1920x1080
    VBR 1 pass
    Target Bitrate 12mbs
    Max bitrate 12mbs
    Maximum render quality/depth/previews unchecked
    Issues I have:
-Playback is fine at 1/2 or even full, but once effects (especially magic bullet looks) start to go on the clips, it’s very choppy and has difficult playback at 1/4
-Export times (especially with magic bullet looks) will take the better part of 1-4 hours for a video that is 3-6 minutes long. This doesn’t seem like it should be the case for a maxed out MacPro
    So my questions are:
Do these seem like the right sequence/export settings for mastering at 1080p? If not, what would you suggest?
Would using offline editing help at all?
Do you place your effects on adjustment layers?
Is there anyway to improve export settings when using an array of filters?
Have you stopped using third party plugins for their inefficiency in unreliability and switched to more integrated applications like SpeedGrade?
Is there any other tweaks that you would suggest for RED workflow with PrPro?
Should I consider switching to FCPX or (besides the iMovie-likeness) does it carry problems of its own?

The biggest issue is that most people have is that updating OS X causes certain folders to be set to Read Only. See this blog post: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

It's a nice base system. How about an additional speedy disk for media cache files. You also did not mention which version of OS X you are running.

The Red Giant website does not indicate that this software is yet updated to work with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1). Proceed with caution here.

I would not use this plug-in until you get the OK from the manufacturer.

    Again, I suspect your plug-in.
Keep in mind that exports are largely CPU based but you can make sure that GPU acceleration is enabled for AME at the bottom of the Queue panel.

    It's OK.

No need when you should be able to edit natively. Relinking might also be an issue.
    thisisironclad wrote:

That's one way you can do it with the benefit of being more organized.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    I do. Of course, that's a preference.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    Try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write(Hopefully you checked this out already)
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCLYou have AMD GPUs.
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot

I really shouldn't answer that question.

  • Third party address validation in ESS pages using workflows

Can anyone help out in giving some ideas for solutioning the following.
Address entered in the page "Main Address: Enter New Address" of
Employee Self Service needs to be validated using third party PL/SQL API. This PL/SQL API is available in the same schema where HRMS objects are available. After the validating the address, user can be shown recommended or invalid address message when address entered is not valid. User can accept the recommended address or reject it in which case the original user entered address would be saved.
ESS pages are using workflows. What is the best design to call the third party address validation from the workflow and show the page with recommended address/invalid address message with "Accept" and "Reject" options. Can anyone help out on what are the technical possibilities to implement this address validation in the ESS page?.

After the validation, user is shown a page with "Ok" and "Cancel" options ( please note as said earlier we are not going with "Accept" or "Reject") along with recommended address if the address needs to be corrected. If user clicks "Ok", user will be in the Address update page and can edit the address with the recommded address. If user clicks "Cancel", control goes to next page by saving the address what ever is entered intially.
After passing through the validation logic in the work flow process and based on the result returned, can a OAF page be invoked which can show recommended address with OK and Cancel buttons?

  • Developing Third Party Connectors for the Universal Worklist

    Hi,
We need to develop a third party connector for the Universal worklist.
In order to retrieve the workflow items we want to use a web service that will be developed according our needs.
The documentation that I found regarding the UWL states that in terms of connectivity we can use Web based protocols such as HTTP and Web Services, but i couldn't find any example for this, besides the SONIC.
Has someone already developed a third party connector? Examples?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best practice for exporting a dps folio so a third party can work on it?

    Hi All,
Keen for some thoughts on the best practice for exporting a dps folio, indd files, links and all, so a third party can carry on the work. Is their a better alternative to packaging each individual indd file and sharing the folio through adobe?
I know there have been similar questions here in the past, but the last (that i've found) was updated mid 2011 and I was wondering if their have been any improvements to this seemingly backwards workflow since then.
    Thanks in advance!

Nothing better than packaging them and using Dropbox to share. I caution you

  • Third Party Sales - Automatic Purchase Order Creation- via  SO event

    Dear SAP Gurus,
We have a requirement to have automatic PO Creation for Third Party Sales Process.
To achieve it what I have done is
    a) I have created an event linking using transaction SWETYPV:
    Object = BUS2032, Event = ALECREATED and ALECHANGED ,
    Funtion module  = PUR_ORDER_CREATE_VIA_SD_EVENT.
Also I have modified the Sales Organization data to pass Purchasing Organization,  Purchase Order type and Purchasing group . Its working fine . Its creating purchase order automatically.
My question here is , I'm I doing the wright method for automatic PO creation as soon as a sales order is created.
I beleive this will call for PO creation for all Sales order not only restricted to third party sales . Will it affect performance of the system or will it ignore since there is no purchase requisition.
Please advise on the pros and cons of this process

We use a fairly standard Third Party process. We use the Item Category to drive the Schedule Line Category, which is flagged as Third-Party. On the Material Master (Purchasing view), the Material is flagged for Automatic PO, same on the Vendor Master. Workflow automatically kicks in on SO save to trigger the creation of the PO for the Purchase Req.
Unfortunately, Workflow is a bit of a dark art to me, so I couldn't tell you what we have in place. My feeling is that it is bog standard though.
    Cheers, Paul.

  • ChaRM integration with third party tool

    Hello,
I have some talks withn customers regarding a scenario where Change Requests comes from a third party tool like HP Demand and Portfolio Management.  A possible scenario is when there is a request for change which goes for a complex review and process approval before going directly into the ChaRM creation, without going into a service desk ticket.
I imagine a kind of web service similar to that of the Service Desk but in this case to work with the SDCR or SDHF tickets, so that external systems can interchange data with those Charm tickets.  Does anybody face such type of integration??  What other alternative path you follow for this requests which do not come form a incident/problem workflow?
    I appreciate your comments.

  • Third party plug-ins for develop module

It's been a while since this has been brought up, so I thought I'd restate this request in the current context.
One of the major things that's missing from the Lightroom ecosystem is a way for third parties to produce plug-ins/extensions for the develop module. The advantages would be numerous:
    1) Ability to add exotic features that may not appeal to a large audience (although in combination all these features would), such as negative inversion, alternate tone curves, color correction and replacement tools.
    2) Third-party versions of features that users have been clamoring for: color space clipping, lens/perspective correction, multi-parameter noise reduction.
    3) Community buzz (if approached more openly than the Photoshop SDK)
As for the implementation, maybe it's a good idea to let developers use a combination of Lua and PixelBender (2.0)? The combination would allow for platform-independent code that is still fast. Also, the plug-ins should get to choose from (at least) two entry points: (1) after demosaicing but before color mixing (B&W) & tone curve, and (2) at the end of the pipeline.
Here's hoping for the SDK appearance in LR3!
    Simon

There have been numerous requests for third party plugin (or some way to extend the Develop module) over the years.  I agree it is a critical item that needs to be addressed ASAP.  Hopefully in LR3.
What I find most interesting about this particular request is that Simon has pointed out that Adobe already have the technology (Pixel Bender) and just need to apply it.  Its already in Photoshop CS4 and Flash 10, and is used for non-destructive editing in those apps.  So I'd be extremely disappointed if it doesn't make it into the next major release of their workflow/non-destructive editing tool.  You'd have to be an optimist to expect it anytime before LR3.
The only real question remaining is will Pixel Bender, as it currently stands, meet the full needs of the LR plugin developer community?  e.g. Could Noise Ninja or Nik plugins be ported to Pixel Bender?  My guess is "not yet".  Then Adobe need to figure out how much to change LR, how much to change Pixel Bender, and indeed how big a first step they take when adding Develop module extensibility to LR3.  Lets hope it is enough for developers of the most popular plugins to invest the time and effort to develop LR specific versions of their products.
    My 2c worth.

  • How to reinstall a corrupt, third-party plugin?

    This is a multi-level issue.
After purchasing and installing Recosoft PDF2ID (a very useful and clever plugin that allows a user to open PDFs right into InDesign), I noticed that InDesign would hang on Quit. Becasue this hang (and my subsequent force-quite maneuvers) became the norm, I decided to disable PDF2ID, the one third party plugin I had added to ID, using the "Adobe Exchange Manager".
After I did that, "magically", ID resumed it's normal quit process; in other words, no more hanging but just a simple, happy and definitely terminal Quit.
I contacted Recosoft and they replied " We have tens of thousands of PDF2ID installations (amongst various users) and this is a first". So, in other words, I should not have an issue myself because other users do not. That's logical, right?
I then decided to enable PDF2ID once more just so I could obtain some sort of crash log on Quit; something I could send Recosoft for them to examine and possibly find the problem.
When I did enable the plugin again (Exchange screen below, last item enabled), I got a "Startup Alert" -also attached.
Only one time, the plugin loaded and, as expected, ID hang on Quit.
After that I could not get the plugin to load again (but got more "Startup Alerts").
I emailed Recosoft again and send them the Force-Quit log. they told me that they saw no issues and, furthermore, they added "You should contact the Adobe Exchange store to download it and install it again.".
    I did.
After spending 2 useless hours with Adobe on the phone, they told me (in an email I asked them to send me) that "The plugin is from Recosoft & not from Adobe, we have helped you [not true at all] with the installation & activation of the plugin but we cannot help you with the usage of the plugin." I never asked them to help me with the usage of the plugin. I asked them to help me reinstall a plugin that I had purchased through Adobe Exchange, a function that apparently Exchange cannot perform.
So, I purchased a plugin using Adobe Exchange. The plugin somehow went bad and impairs the normal functioning (quit, to be precise) of InDesign. Recosoft won't help because I bought their plugin through Adobe Exchange and Adobe won't help either (but is happy to send me an email with a lie embedded in it) because it is not their plugin ... Who should I call now? Apple because I'm using a Mac? The manufacturer of the chair where I sit while I work?
Maybe they are the ones who are supposed to help me get a replacement plugin installed. You tell me.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the condescending advice. I did contact the vendor first. That's obvious, a no-brainer. Their (Recosoft's) reply was: "... contact the Adobe Exchange store to download it and install it again." Later they explained that because the plugin was acquired through Adobe Exchange and because they only sell that PDF2ID Lite version through Adobe Exchange, I had to ask you for assistance.
In short, although they indeed build and provide the plugin, it is Adobe Exchange the engine that does the work to download, enable and/or disable a plugin. Exchange does nothing, however, to replace a bad plugin; there is no setting or button or whatever to re-download from source, replace a bad file and reinstall. The only options are enable and disable plugins OR purchase a plugin again. The latter is not a solution, really.
What's interesting to me (other than this thing is still an exercise on pointing fingers) is that when a third party plugin to be used with an Adobe tool is added to your workflow it immediately acquires an Adobe-designed icon, a reflection of Adobe's brand. In general, one does not want to stamp a product with one's own brand unless one is ready to take some sort or responsibility for that product. Adobe appears not follow that logic though. You add one of your branded icons to a product that (it is obvious to me) you take zero responsibility for, one that I can't expect Adobe to support ...

  • Avtivation of BC set from Third party system

    Dear All,
We are using BC sets for configuration of regular business organizational units. We also have a workflow in third party system (like MS Share Point) for approval of such elements. Now we are looking to call BC sets for configuration of these elements Via third party system upon approval in workflow.
Kindly help me to understand the feasibility & possible approach to develop the system.

    Hi,
Your question if i understood correctly.
You cannot transfer the BC Set from one system to another.
BC sets are used to have a snap shot for your customizing in SAP.
This are predefined by SAP, which as per mine knowledge you cannot transfer from an external tool to SAP ECC.

  • Prevent Rounding on Third-Party PO

We use a Third-Party process, whereby a Sales Order is created including items with a certain Item Category. Workflow then converts the Requisition into a PO. Generally this process works, however we can get into a bit of a problem if the Master Data is not setup correctly. If the appropriate Purchase Info Record is missing, the PO item quantity will be rounded up to the Rounding Value from the MRP1 view in the Material Master. For example, the Customer orders a quantity of 6 EA, and the PO quantity rounds to 5,000 EA ! I realise that if the correct process is followed, and the PIRs are correctly maintained, this is not an issue. However, when it goes wrong (which it does occasionally), it can get quite messy, and very time-consuming to resolve.
I cannot see why, logically, anyone would want to round the quantity on a Third Party PO, given it's very nature - if you want to round, do it on the Sales Order. Therefore I am a little suprised that I cannot find any config to control this at either the PO Header or Item level, or that SAP didn't hard-code it. I would be grateful for any assistance.
    Cheers, Paul.

you have to see the processes separatly.
Rounding in sales order serves your outbound requirements e.g. that the order quantity is a multiple of a unit (e.g. if you sell in drums a 200 kgm then you want only 200, 400, 600 allow in the SO)
Rounding in material master serves the general storage and procurement requirements.
Rounding in info record may serve specific procurement requirements, maybe under price aspects.
In case of 3rd party order you may have conflicts between sales and purchasing process, you can always change the unwanted rounding in the PO back to its original value, it will then not round again.
But can you explain why you round to 5 in material master MRP views, while you round to 6 in sales orders? From my point of view it is quite strange that you define the rounding for one and the same material differently, even it is in different processes.

  • ALE third party: User name in change log of PO item is updated inconsistently

    Hello,
We're running third party process, where changes in SO item are auto updated into PO item via workflow. Normally, user who changed SO item is updated in change log of PO item. However, there are several cases where workflow user is updated in PO item change log. There seems to be an inconsistency here. Do you have any idea? I've searched SAP Note but could not find any.
    Thanks,
    Duc.

    Hello Jurgen,
Checking data in system, I found one thing:
if change document of PO item is created later than change document of SO item, change user in PO item is workflow user; in the other hand, if change document of PO item and SO item are created at same time, change user in PO item is same as change user in SO item.
So I guess root cause of issue is: Change User in PO change log depends on which task system is doing (updating SO item or updating PO item) at the time the log is recorded; due to this, the t-code in log is also different (ME22 for workflow user and VA02 for normal user).
    Is it correct?
    Regards,
    Duc.
