Tmobile WRTU54G-TM

Sorry if this has been 'asked and answered' before (probably LONG before...), but I'd like to get 'authoritative' input for something I'd like to research and determine if it is possible to accomplish:
A client is using Tmobile VOIP using the aforementioned WRTU54G-TM 2-line VOIP wireless router with 4-port hub.  What they would like to do is to place this in their network and NOT have it change (route) the network addresses being assigned to devices 'behind' this router so even their wireless devices are all "on the same network" as the wired devices BEFORE this unit,  In essence, preserve the same 'network and subnet mask' that is being issued by their DSL router via it's integrated DHCP server. ... Rather like operating this unit like an 'access point' instead of a router.
Under most circumstances, I might try to assign this router a static IP outside the scope of the DHCP range the DSL router would supply, then plug the (gigabit) Ethernet network cable into one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the rear of this router - but apparently this does not 'facilitate' a connection to Tmobile's VOIP service.  My thought would be that this COULD work, but 'no joy' so far.  Obviously I am doing something wrong - or at least, not right, in any case...  When attempting to do this, the connected telephone devices do not get a phone line connection and the status light(s) that normally indicate proper operation do not illuminate.
Any input ...? or am I just 'spinning my wheels' in this effort...?

Before connecting a Linksys router to another router, make sure they have different IP addresses. This is a must to avoid IP address conflict on your the routers. If both them have the same IP address, change the second Linksys router’s IP address.
There are two methods in cascading or connecting a Linksys ADSL gateway to another Linksys router:
1] Cascading the ADSL Gateway to a Linksys Router (LAN-LAN)
2] Cascading the ADSL Gateway to a Linksys Router (Internet-LAN)
But according to your scenario you would like to opt for the second option so here is the link which will help you in configuring: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=e6be94963af148329e09448d27f2a289_4273.xml&pid=80&r...

  • HELP ME Please ! No Blue Lights on both of my WRTU54G-TM Routers behind a WRT54GX2 Router

    I've had this configuration installed and working for the past two months as such:
    Motorola Cable Modem - COX Cable ISP - 15Mbps down / 5Mbps up ; actual rated is higher on speedtest.net
    Linksys Router - WRT54GX2 (I'll refer to this as main Router)
    Linksys T-Mobile Router - WRTU54G-TM - with 2 SIM cards (this is VOIP router 2 for two lines)
    Linksys T-Mobile Router - WRTU54G-TM - with 1 SIM card (this is VOIP router 1 for one line)
    Network Topology:
    Main Router:     192.168.2.1    router mode ;  DHCP ON; Wireless ON - SSID: alpha
    VOIP Router 2:  192.168.2.2   bridged mode; DHCP off; Wireless ON - SSID: beta
    VOIP Router 1:  192.168.2.3   bridged mode; DHCP off: Wireless off
    Both VOIP Routers connected from Internet Port on Router to LAN port on a 10/100 switch
    All of this was working fine for the past two months, it even survived some Southern California power outages and came back with flying colors; UNTIL YESTERDAY...... VOIP Router 1 blue light ceased in the morning - Troubleshot it myself and then with tmobile/Linksys and verdict was a defective modem.  VOIP Router 2 was still going strong UNTIL I decided to power cycle it to see if that would help with VOIP Router 1; well the blue lights never came back on;  To make a long story short - after pulling my hair out and talking to tmobile/Linksys again; I was able to get the blue lights to come on both VOIP Router 1 and VOIP Router 2 if I connected one of them directly to the cable modem and the other VOIP Router  2 directly to VOIP Router 1.  I also did a hard reset on both VOIP routers back to factory defaults (did this before as well). Now,  I can't even have a switch between VOIP ROUTER 1 and 2 and get a blue light on the second one.  What in the world could be causing this, does anyone have a clue?
    Now you may ask why do I need it setup like I had it originally, Cable Modem is downstairs ; Main Router downstairs was in place to isolate the Network from the VOIP Routers in case I needed to reboot the VOIP routers - which I had to do a few times in those two months. So I still had Internet access in the house when I rebooted the VOIP routers.  I also wanted my phones upstairs, not downstairs and that is where the VOIP routers were situated.
    I've searched thru this forum and googled elsewhere, but haven't found any solutions that work.
    So can anybody help ?????  TIA

    OK, Here's an UPDATE, I believe that I have found a firmware bug in the WRTU54G-TM  v1.00.21 code.
    In order to get the blue lights on two WRTU54G-TM Routers, VPN - IPSEC passthru must be enabled on the 1st Router, or else the blue lights will not come on the 2nd Router.
    fyi...  I have 3 sim cards in the 2 Routers for 3 phone lines, 1 Sim card slot is empty.
    I reset both WRTU54G-TM Routers to factory default and plugged one  directly in to the cable modem and the second WRTU54G-TM into the first.  I rebooted the cable modem and routers in order and in a few minutes, I had 3 blue lights for voice on the routers (YES!).  Ok, so now I tried reconfiguring the Routers the way I want them.  I only need wireless on one of them, not both, so I turn off the wireless on the first router, I also disable all 3 VPN passthrough options on both routers and disable the firewall on the 2nd router.  Now I lose the blue lights on the 2nd Router.   Well after some troubleshooting, I have found that the IPSEC VPN passthru option MUST be enabled on the 1st Router to get the blue lights on the 2nd Router.  I have reproduced this very easily by disabling the IPSEC on the first Router and the blue lights will go off on the 2nd Router -  I have to re-enable the IPSEC on the 1st router and reboot the 2nd Router for the blue lights to come back on the 2nd Router.
    Thanks, Tom

  • WRTU54G-TM not keeping its IP address, generally being annoying

    I bought a Linksys WRTU54G-TM for the TMobile @Home service.  Setting it up is proving to be absurdly frustrating because the webbased interface refuses to acknowledge that I have given it an IP address.  I set the IP to 192.168.1.20, static IP, configured as a bridge, etc etc.  Every time I was able to bring up the web interface the IP address was listed as 0.0.0.0 on the main page, but the Status page showed the correct IP.
    I shut off the wireless router part because we already have a wireless setup -- ironically a WRT54G Linux-based Linksys router that's been working without a hitch for 3 years.  Since the TMobile router and the main router are in wholly separate areas of the house, we're using a Zoom wireless access point so it can still remain part of the network.  The Zoom access point has been working flawlessly for around 2 years.
    After a few minutes of trying to figure out **bleep** is going on, now the router is not responding to 192.168.1.20 at all.
    At this point I'm getting overly frustrated and about to chuck the thing through the nearest wall.  Why doesn't the webform keep the IP address?  Why does the router seem so keen on reverting to 192.168.24.1 when I've never set that as an IP address?  I won't even get into the fact that the router isn't letting me use the phone ports because that's a whole different can of worms.
    Has anyone else had this amount of trouble with the WRTU54G-TM? Did I just get a lemon?

    There's one the WRT54G Linux-based router that's serving as a DHCP server.  I've disabled the DHCP server on the TMobile router and told it to use a static IP address (192.168.1.20, WRT54G is at 192.168.1.1).  So far everything is working fine even though the web interface continues to deny that it has a proper IP address -- but only on the initial form; going to the Status page still lists the proper IP.  It doesn't appear to be causing any issues other than annoying me so I'm letting it fly (otherwise the router itself would be flying).
    There was an issue earlier with the router forgetting about the connected phone when I was transferring a large file across the network but that hasn't reappeared.  We're getting some static a few seconds into phone conversations but I'm attributing that to a cordless phone that the soon-to-be-Mrs insisted on using.  Hopefully I'll be able to talk her into a VTech DS6121 setup, or something similar, so that won't be an issue going forward.  Wish me luck

  • WRTU54G-TM Router Internet Problems

    I have a Linksys "Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports" (WRTU54G-TM) that I got through the T-Mobile at Home service. I've been using this router for a while but it has given me a lot of trouble. Every 2 weeks or so, the phone connection and/or internet connection will be lost. That forces me to restart the router. However, restarting the router normally fixes the problem only temporarily.
    When I restart it, everything works for a while. However, every 15 mins or so, the internet connection will be somewhat disconnected again while the phone will usually keep working. I say "somewhat "because the sites I had open will keep working but it won't be able to open any new site. So every 15 mins, I'll restart the router and load every site I intend or am likely to visit just so it'll work while I restart the internet or if I'm lazy and do not want to go restart it again. As you can imagine, this gets to be a pretty annoying and tiring process. This problems normally lasts 4-6 days. After 4-6 days of continuous restarting, the internet & phone will work perfectly...at least until another week or 2 have passed and the phone/dial tone stops again, causing me to restart the whole procedure over.
    This has been happening to me for over a year a now (maybe 2 years? I cannot remember). I'v called T-Mobile and Linksys many times and they just tell me to do a hard reset, upgrade the software. etc. I have even gotten the router replaced 3 times now, which I hate because it takes forever to set it up with my DSL router (made by ActionTec) from Qwest, my service provider. You see, the two routers conflict & I have to change the setting of the Qwest router each time to make them work in harmony.
    Does anyone know how to fix this? I've been asking people, calling for support, & searching online for all that time but I have yet to find a solution. Could it be that I have two routers?  I believe both are needed as I have a Voip home line from TMobile but the DSL connection from Qwest. And I doubt that is the problem but it's always possible. It is a very arduous process to obtain internet connection everytime this problem occurs, and it occurs very frequently. So, any help would be much appreciated.

    Before anything else, make sure the firmware is up to date. You can download it from here and follow the procedure. If you already have updated the router.
    To setup your connection to your ISP, check the procedure here.

  • Linksys WRTU54G-TM and Trendnet tew-631brp not playing nice together, HELP

    Ok so, since getting the tmobile@home service I have been having nothing but issues with my setup.
    My current config setup includes the Comcast Cable modem <to WAN port of> Trendnet tew-631brp <LAN to WAN port of> Linkysy WRTU54G-TM and the WRT set to bridged mode. WRT firewall disabled, Wifi Disabled, Main router is the Trendnet with Wifi-N enabled. No machines are hard wired to my routers, I use only the Wifi-N from my trendnet.
    Now the internet works as expected, except when you go to use the VOIP phone. When you pick it up, the net connection drops out and the Trendnet router reboots.
    I have tried making the WRT the main router and having the Trendnet be the secondary, I've turned firewalls off, I've added them each router to the DMZ and nothing nothing nothing will fix this issue. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    I just tried adding the WRT as the main router and the 631 as the secondary router, and it still won't work. Would the NAT cause an issue when it's set-up this way as well? This is so confusing.

  • WRTU54G-TM try this to fix blue light problems, dropping service and disconnects

    I spent a ton of time on the phone with T-Mobile, Linksys and the internet company to solve the problem of the router kicking off frequently.
     The last suggestions, which has worked so far is to log into your router.  Change the MTU from automatic to manual and then type in 1450.  Save and it will reboot.  Wait until your back online and you should have NO problems.  Linksys says this is the workaround until tmobile releases the ok on new firmware.
    if its blinking blue either call tmobile and have them deactivate the voicemail on that line or you need to set it up.
    Good luck.

    Hi,
    I just started the t-Mobile @ Home service with the WRTU54G-TM router this weekend and had all sorts of issues with the router rebooting and dropping the blue-light.
    I have AT&T DSL with a 5100 Speedstream modem.  Before getting the Linksys router, I had a 5 year old Netgear wireless router that had a rock solid internet connection - only dropped it 3 times over a 5 year period.
    After having a full day off issues with the t-Mobile Linksys router, I decided to try reconfiguring my network so I had the Netgear router in between the Linksys and the modem.
    I downloaded the latest set-up wizard from Linksys and ran it (and followed the instructions to the "t"), and chose the option to keep my existing network (with the netgear router) and add the t-Mobile Linksys router to the existing network.  Since the Linksys has better wireless and security features than the old Netgear router, I still have all my wireless traffic going through the Linksys (I turned off the wireless features of the Netgear router).  All the Netgear router is doing is keeping the internet connection alive.
    So far (it's only been one day), I've seen a dramatic improvement - haven't lost the blue light once and everything seems to be running fine.  If you had an existing router that worked will prior to adding the T-mobile one, I would encourage you to try this set-up, since it has worked very well for me.

  • AE with comcast or tmobile@home

    I have the AE 802n running my home network. I have Comcast for internet and cable, I also have T Mobile for my cell. Both Comcast and T mobile require another piece of equipment. T Mobile requires Linksys WRTU54g-TM router, this does not have 1g ethernet or 802n. Comcast needs eMTA (embedded Mulitmedia Terminal Adapter). Is anyone using either of these systems with AE? How do you use two routers? I want to keep my 1g ethernet. Any experiences with Comcast digital voice or T mobile @home service would be welcomed input.

    The Gigabit Ethernet is only going to benefit your local network so just make sure that all your Ethernet devices are connected to the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
    I would suggest that you connect the Comcast device to your internet connection. Then connect the TMobile device and AEBS each to LAN ports on the Comcast device.
    If you have no 802.11g devices you can disable the wireless portion of the TMobile device and configure it so that it's DHCP server is disabled. Forget about the Ethernet ports on the TMobile device.
    Configure the AEBS to work as a bridge (not distributing IP addresses).

  • Use wrtu54g-tm or wrt54g v.8 as Wireless router?

    Hi - already have the wrt54g v.8 as my network router attached to a comcast cable modem. leaving comcast phone for the tmobile@home service and now have their wrtu54g router. any thoughts on the relative performance of these two as routers? eg., should i just replace my existing router with the wrtu54g or should i plug the new tmobile router into the existing router? many thanks.

    if you are just going to be using the wrtu54g as a phone adapter then you can connect that to the wrt54g with no problems, you may need to forward some ports on the router as well.
    the best recommnedation is to just repalce the main router for the mean time and the wrtu54g function almost the same way. that way you would not have too may device plugged in.

  • Can't connect Samsung WIFI cell phone to Tmobile using Airport time capsule

    I am using Tmobile for cell phone service and Comcast for high speed internet. I am unable to mske a WIFI cell phone connection. I get Tmobile ISP errors. Talked with Tech support from Apple, Tmobile and Comcast.
    Took the phone and the time capsule to the local Bridgeport apple store. They managed to get the connection up and running with my router. My phone also worked with their store network. We had to open UDP ports 500 and 4500 both ways and also IP protocols 50 and 51 both ways on the time capsule to make it work.
    With the same settings, it does not work at home using Comcast.
    Help is appreciated.

    I still can't use it the way I was hoping because it then becomes a T/M back-up disk and not a normal usb/firewire disc.
    You are first mounting the drive on the desktop, correct?
    Not sure what you mean here.
    You can drag/drop files normally or copy/paste files to the drive icon on the desktop, just as you would a normal drive that is displayed on the desktop.
    Or, double click the drive icon on the desktop and drag/drop files into the open window there.
    Tell us the steps that you are using to mount the drive on the desktop. What happens after each step?

  • Tmobile web n walk manager wont start

    hi.
    first of all,i have to excuse myself for my bad english,i am from austria so englsih isnt my native language.
    my girlfriend bought a macbook air a while ago and she says she didnt updatet the os since then,if its important to know.
    so,she got an usb data modem to connect to the internet,namely this one:
    http://tmobile.at/privat/servicehilfe/Download_Center/SoftwareDownloads/index.html
    its the web and walk compact
    i then told her (shes now working 800 km away,so all comunication about this problem with her is about phone) that she shall "install" the software provited on this page for the mac, the intel version since the mac air is based on an intel chipset afaik.
    (and i must say i know nothing about macs! i didnt have to,because i dont have one. she sayed she wants one because of the design...women...gosh..i know its stupid..but now its done)
    so,first it all worked out.
    the programm starts,she could connect to the internet, all is fine.
    then,she wanted to send an sms via the programm,this option is providet by the software.
    as soon as she hit the sms button the programm crashed and was gone.
    she tryied to restart it but it want start anymore.
    what we have tried is to find the plist file coresponding to the application name,something like com.stefan...MM0_23.plist in the library inside the preferences.
    so far she found it and copyed it on the desktop so its out of the library.
    well,didnt worked out,the app is still not starting.
    the error message was something like
    parent process launched 118 (the number at the end is changing?)
    so,she is a dau,so am i.
    i really know that someone should know about there os but well....its so beautifull.....i swear to god...and the fact that shes 800 km awawy doesnt help either and she cant send me the complete error message via mail because she cant get in the internet
    what i am asking for,no,begging for is that someone could please post a dau friendly solution.
    maybe even download the dmg file and look where the plist file or files are located so we can find them..well that means if that is the problem.
    another idea of me is that she could try to make another account and log in with that and try it from there..would that help?
    i really hope someone could help me out there...
    dude,i would buy u a beer...
    thanks in advance

    its the e220 im realy sure about that
    ok,thanks for the info,in about3-4 hours i will know more because then her work day ends
    and afaik is the macbook air based on an intel chipset,so we wil use the intel installer.
    thanks for all the help,i really hope it will work out
    edit:
    ok,one more stupid question
    what exactly is the apn?
    what do i need to know for that?

    I have an iphone 2g unlocked for tmobile.  For the past 2 years it has worked fine then out of no where I get this message "your selected cellular network is no longer available" and the service cuts in and out all day.  It can't find tmobile on my phone for some reason but for 2 years previous it could no problem?  tmobile says it is a problem with my phone and not their service.
    Any ideas what to do?

    I would just explain that this just started happening, that nothing has changed on the phone, that it is an original iPhone and I wondered if they are implementing a change in coverage with their Edge network in my area.
    If you restore your phone, you will be given an option to back up your phone at the beginning of the process (see step 6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414).  You will be given the option to restore to that backup at the end of the restore process.  Your messages are stored in the backup so restoring to the backup will return the messages to your phone.  Be sure to import your photos and videos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and back up your contacts somewhere before restoring your phone as these sometimesget lost in the restore process.

  • How do I use iSync to share info from MacBook Pro to Nokia 6822 (TMobile)?

    Hello! I just got a new MacBook Pro and a new cell phone - a Nokia 6822 (currently I have TMobile Cell Service). I saw at this address: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html
    that the Nokia 6822 is an iSync compatible device.
    Sorry for such a novice question - can somebody direct me what this means for me? Can I keep a To Do List & calendar appointments on my MacBook Pro that transfers to my phone? If so, HOW DO I DO THIS?
    Can I update To Do list using the keypad on my Nokia 6822 and then sync that data back to my MacBook Pro too? How?
    I'd love comments from people who use this technology and what you think of it, too.
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1.83 GHz Processor, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM Memory

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    In Mac OS X, contact information is maintained in the Address Book and event and task information in iCal. iSync is used to synchronize this information with a mobile handset like your Nokia 6822. To enable this service, you must pair your mobile handset with your computer using Bluetooth, accessible from the Bluetooth pane of the System Preferences application.
    Once paired, you enable synchronization by launching iSync and selecting the Add Device… option under the Devices menu, then configure your synchronization parameters by pressing the mobile handset icon—which appears in the main window of —to drop down a pane in which you select the individual synchronization parameters for your device.
    There is a Help file accessible in iSync which explains how all of this works.

  • How do I create MP3 files on my new iphone from old tmobil voice mail msgs?

    Hello! >>> iPhone master techies......... help~!~ I'm an "X" TMobil customer who recently switched to ATT and purchased an iPhone 3G. I forwarded 20 voice mail messages from my old TMobil phone to my husbands TMobil phone before having it disconnected and switching the sim card over, as salesman I bought phone from at ATT store said I'd lose them all if I didn't do this. They're ''THAT'' important to me to save, my grandbaby's messages, too dear to ever lose.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Question: I was told by a manager at an APPLE store "to turn the voice mail messages now on husbands tmobil phone into mp3 files", which could then be downloaded to my iphone [as sound bites??]. Does anyone know how this is done and if so, can you PLEASE tell me how to do this? If you need more of what the manager at Apple said to me, I'll continue with that, just ask.
    it's an iPhone specific question to me > regarding _my new_ iPhone.
    sorry if this wasn't the right place to put the inquiry but for a new person trying to figure this phone out, it's pretty confusing. I'd invite anyone to try to get info [from any number of sources] with any luck or help.
    having said all that, I thank you for this post, if nothing else, I can call them and see how much to have them do it. doesn't seem an unusual request should be pretty straight forward and easy to do if you're in the know, I am not.
  • Can I get my Sprint 4S to work on Tmobile?
    Ok, here are the facts:
    iPhone 4S sold by Sprint has both CDMA and GSM capabilities. Sprint will unlock your iPhone for international GSM use, but not for domestic carriers like ATT, Tmobile, or even CDMA Verizon.
    My iPhone 4S has been unlocked by Sprint and will work abroad. I want it to work with Tmobile or Solavei here in the US.
    My question is: If it has GSM capabilities and it's already unlocked for international GSM use, is it at all possible to get my Sprint iPhone 4S working on Tmobile US? I've read that you can buy a 128k SIM card and that solves the problem but I'm wanting confirmation or any other tips or jailbreaks I could possibly use to make my iPhone usable on Tmobile.
    My main motive is not really to get away from Sprint, it's to make my iPhone worth something if I need to sell it after my contract is up. As it stands, I can not sell my iPhone for anything because nobody wants to use Sprint because everyone knows how bad it is. That makes my iPhone worthless. That ****** me off. I used to be able to sell my iPhones every year, pay out my contract, upgrade to the new iPhone, and be left with $20-$100 for the whole transaction. When I tried to do that for the iP5, I was shocked when someone offered $250 for my iP4S with 64GB.
    So again, any help from anybody who has tried this would be greatly appreciated. I already bought some 128k SIM cards to try out and I'll post results when I get them.
    hexonxonx wrote:
    Only the Verizon iPhone 5 will work on AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US
    Well, the officially unlocked iPhone 5 will, and the AT&T iPhone 5 will work on AT&T's network(obviously), & the T-Mobile iPhone 5 will work on both T-Mobile's & AT&T's network, as it is officially unlocked.
  • I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on tmobile. I have restored the phone but every time I put in my SIM card for t mobile it says no service. How can I fix this?
    I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on the t mobile network. The thing is, I've tried restoring the phone so I could use it. I haven't tried my sim on other phones yet. But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. I don't have a data plan for tmobile tw! Hopefully someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!
    If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked.  I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed.  eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money.  I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot
