Tnsping returns ok but sqlplus can not connect

Hello List,
this strange behavior is happening on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition running an Oracle 9iR2 (9.2.0.5) version. The name of the instance (quality9) is also the name of the tns string. When it is issued a tnsping quality9, it returns ok:

Now, when it is issued an sqlplus user/pass@quality9, it returns an error:

For other client applications as dba studio, the same happens. The file sqlnet.ora was moved to sqlnet.ora.bk in order not to be used but it did not help. Also commenting its unique parameter, SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS), did not help. Tried, as a third workaround, create a regedit value USE_SHARED_SOCKETS=TRUE but again the same.

Tnsping does not tell you if the service name given in the tns entry in the tnsnames.ora file is correct or not. Make sure that the entry in tnsnames.ora file contains the correct value for service name.
ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor
Cause: The service name specified in the connect descriptor is incorrect, or the database service is not registered with the listener.
Action: Perform these steps:
Check to make sure the SERVICE_NAME specified in the connect descriptor is correct.
Ensure that the database instance is running. If the instance not running, start it so that it can register with the listener. You can use the Listener Control utility SERVICES command to see what services are currently registered with the listener.

I have tried to reset the network settings, nothing has worked. I can connect to the internet via my iPhone personal hotspot and all other wireless devices are operating normally on my home wireless network.

I am also having this issue. My boy just got an iPod 4 touch, upgraded to iOS 6. I have a D-Link DGL-4300 108G Wireless Gaming Router. With the iPod I can connect to the router, get an IP address (either DHCP or Static) and even browse through the menu on the router, but I can't connect to the internet.
With a DHCP IP address the iPod give the error "Not connected to the internet" with the static IP address it takes a long time when trying to connect to a website but then it gives the error "server stopped responding".
Clearly the issue is in some setting in the router. I've tried setting up a filter so that the iPod will always have access based on MAC address. I've tried changing the various wireless connection settings, all to no avail. I would greatly appreciate some guidence here.

Hello All, I have installed on my linux the 10.1.0.3 oracle client and I can do tnsping to my tnsnames.ora databases but I can't connect with sqlplus... I have an error: ora-12154
I have readed metalink documentation and I think everything is ok, but still can't connect... :( Can anybody help me please?

Also, make sure it is using the correct tnsnames.ora file.
Do you have multiple copies of this file in different directories?
post the contents of your sqlnet.ora file as well.

Guestnetwork is visible but I can not connect any device

Hi there,
I us an Airport Time Capsuale, Version 7.7.1.
I created a Guestnet, all fine so far.
Now I try to connect with my Iphone or Ipad to test it and I can not connect.
I can see the Guestnet, I type in the password and the device is trying to connect. trying trying trying but not connecting.
Going back to my private Network, all fine, direct connection.
Any idea what is missing or happening to work proper?

The first thing to check is the setting for Router Mode on the Time Capsule.
Open AirPort Utility, click on the Time Capsule, click Edit, and click the Network tab at the top of the window.
Check the setting for Router Mode. If it is now set to "Off (Bridge Mode)" the Guest Network feature will not operate correctly in that setting.....unless....you have another Apple router on the network that is acting as the "main" router for the network.
Can you provide the make and model number of your "modem"?
It is possible that the Time Capsule needs to be in Bridge Mode to work correctly with your "modem".
If this is the case, then unfortunately it will not be possible to enable the Guest Network feature using the modem that you have.

This what Apple's iTunes specific error codes support article says about that particular error.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Linksys Wireless Router BEFW11S4 - Shows connected, but I can not connect to the internet

I have a Linksys Router hooked up to a cable RCA modem using Comcast Cable. There are 3 laptops that hook up wirelessly to the router and they have been working fine for the past two years. However, recently all three laptops can not connect to the internet for some reason. I checked with Comcast and they checked out the modem and tested it and it works fine. When I hook my laptop up to the modem with an ethernet cable, it works fine and I can get on the internet. When I hook the modem up to the router and try to connect wirelessly it appears to be fine. It shows that the router is connected there is connectivity on all our laptops, however when I open a new internet explorer page to get on the internet, it does nothing. A blank page appears and the webpage will not load. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it the router or the way it is setup in the admin page or could it be possibly something else? Thanks.

As it shows connected under wireless ....check the Ip address under wireless network connection .....
If it shows Ip 192.168.1.X ....with gateway 192.168.1.1 ..... try to pnig the gateway address ...
If getting reply try going online ....
Also disable the firewall first.....

Oracle/Linux works fine. Telnet,Ftp etc. to Linux works fine as
well.
I don't get an error message but sqlplus freezes completely.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please consider that tnsping is only an echo requester for the
listener daemon, not for the database as well !
Should try the following on linux:
"lsnrctl status "
Which services(ORACLE_SID's) are supported by the listener ?
Do they map to the unique identifier (ORACLE_SID) of your
instance ? (ps -ax |grep ora)
If they don't map change your listener.ora and reload your
daemon. (lsnrctl stop...lsnrctl start)

Time Capsule has green light, but I can not connect to the internet. Help please

Just got a new Time Capsule. After a few tries, I finally got the green light. But I now can not conect to the internet. Help please.

Problem Solved.....call ATT and they gave me the information I needed....account is a PPPoE. Use your ATT email address as the username, and then ATT provided the network password. Enter the information, update, restart. Now, internet access is achieved.

Here's how you can potentially use your AirDisk with TimeMachine (beware that YMMV), but it should work as it works with every other "unsupported" device.
1) Mount your AirDisk so it appears on your Mac
2) Open Terminal.app
3) change directories to the AirDisk's root folder located in "/Volumes"
ie: cd "/Volumes/AirDisk Name"
4) execute this command to "bless" the drive to be used with time machine:
touch .com.apple.timemachine.supported
5) Start TimeMachine and if all went well, it should recognize your AirDisk drive and use it for TM.
This should also work on NFS shares, SMB shares, AFP shares, basically anything. It has worked up until the last developer seed, so unless they yanked this at the last minute, it should still work.
Now, the reason why Apple removed this feature may be due to the unreliability of the AirDisk, so be cautious.

I Got an iPad air 2 yesterday and had no problems downloading apps. The pad has been synced to my phone. Today I am unable to download apps on either devise Tried logging out of iTunes on both but now can not connect to iTunes and do not receive an error code.

Federated Portal Network Blues - can not connect to WSRP producer

I'd like to embed some JSR-168 portlets into my SAP EP but fail immediately when trying to add the WSRP content producer.
I have a setup of two portals, one is SAP EP 2004s (SP13) and the other a JBoss Portal v2.6.4. I'd like to share my JBoss portlets to SAP and vice-versa for evaluating the interoperability of SAP systems with the real world.
But alas, I'm struggling on the basic setup of my SAP EP...
Here is my problem:
When I configure a WSRP-producer it all seems to work right but I can not connect to it, e.g. I can not register and test the connection. The connection test fails because of :
Producer object was found
Could not retrieve the WSDL file; the handshake URL may not exist or may be invalid
The SAP systems runs behind no proxy at all, so this can't be the issue. When testing the same WSRP producer URL from JBoss portal it all works fine. The URL I used was a WSRP test site from Oracle, see [http://portalstandards.oracle.com/portletapp/portlets?WSDL].
Does anyone have a glue what might be missing on my SAP Portal? The standard log gives me no clues at all I've been tail minus effing the thing for hours...
The SAP documentation - SAP Library, various E-Learning things - couldn't solve the problem for me...

I have the same problem. I can connect from others computers but I can not connect anymore from my laptop runing W 8.1.
I uninstalled and reinstalled sype many times, installed the last version, I tried all suggestions in the FAQ,, same result:
"skype can not connect".

When I set up a guest network on my time capsule nothing can not connect to this network

I have an airport time capsule and I set up a guest network on it. This network is visible, but I can not connect to this using my mac, windows lap tops iPhone and samsung galaxy note 4.

Actually the TC is the main router, but the problem is when I put this on NAT DHCP mode
The device that you call your "modem" is very likely a modem/router or gateway type of device that combines both the functions of a modem and router in one package.
The Guest Network feature will only work correctly when the TC connects to a pure modem.....not a modem/router or gateway.
To see if this is really your problem, please post back with the make and model number of the device that you call your "modem" so we can see exactly what you have.
