Too late to go back to alltel plan??

I'm a little irritated with this new data plan deal with Verizon. Mostly because I found out I had to get a smartphone before July 7th to keep my unlimited data plan I already have on my EnvTouch. This isn't what really irriatates me though.
I had an alltel plan till about two weeks ago. It was called local B 400 minutes for 30.00 a month. I also had the unlimited data 29.99 which was a verizon data plan. I work for the government so I get an employee discount 18 percent on voice, 20% on data. Well I figured out that if I switched to a Verizon plan I can get the discount on voice and the discount on data and the total bill will actually come out cheaper then my alltel plan and unlimited data. Now this new data plan comes out and I will lose my discount on data and my bill will now be more expensive then had I just left it the way it was with the alltel plan.
Since I just did this two weeks ago Verizon sold me on the idea that I would save money (which I am, but not for long when they take away my data discount) and now they are changing it do you think there is anyway they would let me go back?

Uhm... what?
What new data plan?  You are completely getting a lot of misinformation here.  You are not a new customer and you get to KEEP your data plan.  Any discount you have will stay there UNLESS the company you work for changed their agreement with Verizon.

  • Is it too late to go back to IOS 7?

I Made the mistake of upgrading my iPad to IOS 8 and now one of my GIS mapping apps I use for business will not run. I spoke with the developer and they said it would take some time to get this worked out. Is there any way at this point to revert back to IOS 7.1.2?

I read on another post that Apple has already closed the window to downgrade, and the only possible way would be to jailbreak the device. I wouldn't do that though.

Why on earth don't you tell people to back up contacts and photos before they update software? There was no mention of the need to back up until it was too late. I have lost hundreds of valuable phone numbers and photographs.

The update process DOES back up contacts and photos, unless you interrupted the backup. The manual tells you to sync contacts to an app on your computer, and to import photos regularly to your computer. So Apple DID tell you to back up, you just didn't bother to read it.
If you didn't sync yet (and even if you did) connect the phone to your computer, right click on its name, and choose "Restore from Backup". If there's more than one backup choose the one with a timestamp before you updated.

I have in Intel iMac OS X 10.8.3 and haven't yet backed up anything.  Please advise on best ways of backing up everything (external drive etc?) before it's too late.

Buy any external hard drive - USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt, etc that is compatible with your Mac. Opinions will vary, but I use Western Digital externals without problem, others will suggest LaCie, but there are no shortage of other manufacturers making equally good drives, I'm sure. It's preferable to buy a drive that is equal to the size of your internal HD, some will say twice the size. Mine are less than the size of my internal HD, but I don't have masses of data.
The simple and free option is to then connect the drive to the Mac and turn on Time Machine. Leave the drive permanently connected and it will backup your data regularly.
An alternative, and my preferred option is to use SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner to make regular bootable clones of your drive. Some (me included) keep multiple backups - clones and TMachine.
When I had my HD replace recently I re-installed from the clone and was back where I left off in around an hour.

I plugged in my iPad to my Windows 8 computer via USB- 30 pin iPad 3 connector cable because I wanted to downgrade my iPad for a reason. I did the method where you completely shut off your iPad, hold the power button for 3 seconds, then simultaneously hold down the home button and the power button, etc. I forgot that my computer had a virus that my dad was about to remove, but it was already too late. The apple "boot-up" sign disappeared like right when I released the button, and my iPad wouldn't turn on anymore. It has been about an hour now, and it still doesn't work. Do you guys think that I have any chanceof waking up my iPad ever again?

What do you mean by "downgrade my iPad for a reason"?  You cannot downgrade an iOS device.
A virus on the computer should not affect your iPad unless it has been jailbroken, it has no access to the operating system otherwise.
Clean up the computer, then do a reboot of the iPad by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, you will have to restore it using the recovery mode, instructions for doing that are found in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for the reply. The project I am working on is a test project for a customer. They could potentially want a number of their educational subjects presented as an interactive text book. The intent of this first project with them is to establish a logical workflow that will allow us to efficiently estimate costs and allow for review throughout the design process. Having worked with customers on creative projects in the past I can anticipate that they will want a number of changes made once they see a working version of the interactive text book.
It is a grim reality that no project can be fully edited and planned prior to working on it and I know revisions and changes are always made once the customer can see their product. It is ok with me if there is no easy way to pass the text back and forth from the customer and me without having to reformat everything but I just want to know that is the way it works in order to provide a realistic time estimate for the project.
My hope was I would be able to export the formatted text, allow them to make edits and then reimport that formatted text. The style sheets I am using are from one of the iBooks Author templates.
Do you know if there is a way to use (or export ) this style sheet so it can be used in a Pages Document?
Or, would the best option be to have the customer install iBooks Author? This would require the customer to have a mac and the software so it doesn't work for all cases.
Another idea I was considering would be to export the book as a PDF and have the customer add markup and notes to the PDF.
All of these options do not seem too great to me.
I am open to any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • Text looks too pixelated when played back

Here is the situation. We have a project to produce a banner for our school that will be played at an arena. This is to played on one of those huge banner screens that go around the entire place. The dimensions are 6046 x 32 (I know that sounds crazy, I'm still waiting form them to call back to confirm if those are the right dimensions). When I put the text on there it looks way to pixelated in play back. Any thoughts of what I could do to make it look presentable?

    chapp_stl wrote:
I spoke with the powers that be and they said the original dimensions are correct.
This is not supported by your following statements but it my pleasure to misunderstand stuff.
    chapp_stl wrote:
I'm just hoping we can send this off to the place that will play it to see how it looks before it's too late.
Yes, that would be great. I may have missed it before, you're sending them what? The only thing you'll get from Livetype is a Quicktime movie or a still image. If they want a still, do it in Photoshop. I'm still having a really hard time believing the stadium expects you to deliver this thing intact, self contained. It is more likely they want your design and specifications and then they'll create it using the display's proprietary software. Whatever runs the thing, it's probably on a PC. Make sure you know what you're expected to provide.

Another question for those of you that have done this before, is it better to section the spacing out in thirds or fourths, etc.? We have a seven word sentence with our web address on it. I'm just hoping it doesn't cut off the words in the wrong spot.
There's nothing to break up. You make a sentence and animate it across the width of the format in one movie. Don't ya?

  • Too late to buy warranty?

Just bought a Dell Studio MT Desktop Q8200 November 30 (3 days ago). I did not buy an  extended warranty at the time. I wasn't aware of the arrangement Dell had w/Best Buy about warranties until today and I would like to buy a extended warranty now. Is it too late to do this?

    Hey Kbp13 -
Congratulations on your new Dell desktop.  I purchased one a few months ago in our stores and thus far I have been quite pleased.
The good news is that you do have 14 days from date of purchase to buy the Performance Service Plan.  Keep in mind, the store may ask you to bring the tower in to have it inspected to ensure that it is in like new condition.  Your best option is to contact the store prior to driving there and receive clarity from them.
    I hope this helps!

  • Too late to switch?

I want to change over to the unlimited data plan. Right now I have a feature phone with the $10/25MB month plan. Is it too late to change if I'm going to switch online? I wanted to get a pre-owned iphone but I didn't know if I ordered one today or tommorrow and changed the plan(which you have to do anyway) would I be grandfathered into the unlimited plan or does it take effect when you physically activate the phone. If that's the case I guess I'll have to go to the verizon store tommorrow and get a brand new iphone.(the phone online wouldn't get here until Thursday or Friday) Does anyone know? Thanks for any info.

Sorry for the late response. I hope you were able to find an answer for this issue. If you upgraded to a smartphone before 7/7, you will be able to keep the unlimited data plan. If you haven't upgraded yet, you will be able to choose from our new data pricing.

  • Is It Too Late to Create a Version Set?

I have several photos that I edited and saved, but I did not save them as version sets.  Now I would like to convert each of them to a version set -- the edited photo on top of the original photo.  Is it too late to do that?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Sorry, I forgot to mention the details -- I'm using PSE8 on a laptop with Win7 (64bit).
Yes, my terminology is confusing because I'm fairly new to this and not exactly sure what I'm doing.  I am following the example of an Adobe technician who led me through a process whereby I could move photos from one catalog to another.  I have 5 catalogs, two of which contain many thousands of photos each.  The other 3 catalogs are more specialized and thus smaller.  My Flower Catalog, for instance, contains a couple thousand pictures.
This is my routine:  I download my photos into one of the larger catalogs (File>Get Photos from Card Reader).  If I have a photo of a flower in the group, I edit it and save it in a version set or stack.  Then, in order to "move" it to the Flower Catalog, I select and copy it (Ctrl+C).  Then, in Explorer, I open the Flower Catalog and paste it. Then, when I return to PSE8 and open the Flower Catalog (a watched folder), I get the message that a new photo has been found and do I want to add it to the browser. (This photo, unfortunately for me, is not the version set or stack but only the top, edited, photo.)  I add it to the browser.  The properties show that its location is now in the Flower Catalog.  Then I go back to the larger catalog and delete the flower photo from that catalog (not the hard disk).
A convoluted system, but it works except for keeping the version set or stack intact.
Does anyone have a better, foolproof way of moving a file from one catalog to another?  Especially a way that will keep the version set or stack together?

    Hi Barry!
I owe you a proper Thank you! You were right about me needing to update my software. I have been pretty clueless about many of the computer applications I've heard of, but I've learned a bit by doing what you suggested.  I was able to "fix" my iphoto and a I got a few other nice changes after updating the 3 free updates that were available to me.  Thanks so much! - One thing that was so wonderful about getting my iphoto "back" was being able to  share my photos with my Dad for this weekend-during his 88th birthday!
I'm glad I found you in our "community".  Hopefully,  I can learn enough to help others too, eventually.
    All the best to you,

  • Forgot to switch to Point Banking after Elite, made a purchase; too late?

I know that it's never too late to switch to Point Banking, but I was wondering if there's any way to bank points from a certificate that was earned after achieving Elite status.
What happened was that I lost Elite status at the beginning of this year, so I was back to certificates, after having been on Banking for a number of years in a row.  I achieved Elite status around October, but forgot to switch back to Banking.  Picked up a PS4 GTA bundle and some other things on Black Friday, and then I received an e-mail today informing me that I had a certificate issued and waiting.
Is there any way to convert that certificate back into points and just bank them?  I was eligible for banking before the purchase, so I'm hoping I can do that, but I understand if I can't.
    Thank you!
*disclaimer* I am not now, nor have I ever been, an employee of Best Buy, Geek Squad, nor of any of their affiliate, parent, or subsidiary companies.

    Hi cr_client,
Congrats on again reaching Elite status!
If points were converted into a certificate before you officially changed your certificate preference to BANK, then there may not be much we can do.  Once a certificate has been issued, it cannot be cancelled and the points added back into the account.  If you were to redeem the certificate and process a return or cancellation, then the certificates point value would repost to your account within 3 to 6 business days.
I would like to go over your My Best Buy account with you in a bit more detail to ensure that it is properly banking points, so I will be sending you a private message.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the little yellow envelope icon at the top of the page.

  • When I Googled MacKeeper, several items warned against downloading it. Too late! In order to reverse the process, I'm told I need to unencrypt anything that was encrypted. How do I unencrypt? Thanks so much.

When I Googled the word MacKeeper, several items that appeared warned against downloading this item.  Too late!  I've already downloaded it.
I was told that, before reversing the download, I needed to unencrypt anything that was encrypted.  How do I do this?

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Then a dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Do not empty the Trash after dragging the MacKeeper application to it. Let the application delete itself.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.
