Topics Found Dialog

My See Also button displays the Topics Found Dialog. The
problem is that each topic listed has a Location column value that
displays the old version number for the product being documented.
This does not match any text or directories that I have in the
project.
Note: I verified my MainWin has correct title bar text - but
this is not a title bar issue. It is the text displayed for each
line under the column labeled Location.
Anyone know where this information is stored?
Thanks --
Michael F Weart

I think it's the Project Title in File > Project Settings.
I don't think there is anything in the Single Source Layouts that
would contol it, but if the project setting doesn't fix it, it
might be worth a look.

  • Topics found dialog results - unusual situation

    Hi everybody,
I'm having a pretty annoying situation. I'm building a HTML (.chm) help based on the imported microsoft word file.
The structure of the file is something like:
    ====================
    Header1
    ..Header2
    ..text text text
    ...Header3
    ...text text text text
    ....Header4
    .....Header5
    .....text text text text
    Header1
    ...etc
    ====================
I used pagination for headers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 during import to create a topics list. It all looks pretty, and when I search for a keyword it finds all those topics.
Topics found dialog box also distinguishes different topic titles for index keywords. The problem occurs in the TOC tab. Since in my source word document there is nothing between header 1 and 2, or header 4 and 5, a topic generated based on the pagination for Header1 would be a single line containing that header. When user clicks on the book link in TOC that links to that topic a one line is shown.
I tried importing first topics based on header style1 (via pagination), then import again header style 2,3,4,5 and it worked, although in such case when I click on any index keyword it doesn't distinguishes different topic titles in the Topics found dialog box. It always shows the index keyword name instead. Search still works that way.
Any ideas for a workaround? I'm stuck. Please help. Thank you,
    Kind regards,
    Kamil

    For clarification:
In the Table of Content whenever I select any book I want to display topics based on Header Style 1 (load everything that starts with header1 and ends with header1 in the selected topic).
At the same time, when I select keywords from the Index list or use the Search tab I want to break down main topics more detailed way (based on header styles 1,2,3,4,5...).
Example: Because now my topics are created based on style Header1 only, topics found dialog box doesn't distinguishes subtopic names (title "Importing" is shown twice where it should be "Importing" and "D Importing Data").
    Is this possible at all?

  • Topics Found Dialog window

I use the Topics Found Dialog window at the bottom of my X5
topic pages. When I press the Related Topic button in preview the
Topic Found window is a nice size. When I publish the project,
however, the Topic Found window is much smaller. Is there a way I
can adjust the size of this window?

I think it's the Project Title in File > Project Settings.

  • RoboHelp X5 "no topics found" in "Search" tab

There has been one workstation used for RoboHelp HTML
development/compiling and has no issues. A second workstation was
built with the same application/version (RoboHelp X5.0.2). After
compling projects on this second workstation, when a .chm file is
opened and the users perform a search via the "search" tab there
are "no topics found". If the same project is complied on the
initial workstation, topics are found via the "search" tab. Anyone
have an idea on what is causing this problem on the newly built
    workstation?

Below is information from the workstation that does not seem
to be compiling correctly. I registered the .dll, but the "search"
still did not function (did a compile of the project need to occur
after the re-registration?). I will be getting the result from the
workstation that is compiling properly shortly and will post the
    result.

  • "No Topics Found" RoboHelp8 (CHM File)

Using the "Search" feature in my .CHM file has begun to return a "No Topics Found" error.
For a little history, we have been using this same project for several years, long before I took over. Until this latest build, searching worked fine. Beginning last week, searching returns a "No Topics Found" result. I can find and access topics using the index, so I know that they are there but no luck using general search. I've tried manually adding keywords to several topics (under the general tab) with no luck. I've also restored backups of the project (from compressed .RAR files) and generated a .CHM with the same results.
The cause of this seems like it would have to do with some kind of setting that's been changed but I have no idea what. The only changes that I have made have been to the .CSS files we use (font type, size, and color changes), the addition of a few new topics/pages, and the use of J-Query witin those new topics.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

I found this thread where Rick Stone has suggested a possible cause.

  • Additional items found dialog during capturing

first of all why when i hit capture does fcp appear to do a scan of all my sequences in the open project. the clips i'm capturing are new clips and have nothing to do with what's in any sequence. in addition it takes about a minute to scan all these sequences so it's slowing down the process immensely. and then i get an *additional clips found dialog* where it's telling me that it found "32 items outside of your current selection have been found to reference media about to be processed during this process." "if you select continue, these items will not be added to your selection and they might be taken offline."
this is sheer madness ... the clips i'm attempting to capture are unique clips to the project. and i don't need fcp to waste time scanning my sequences. is there any way to turn this "feature" off. and i don't to either add clips to my selection or have clips taken offline if i select continue. btw only the newly logged clip is selected and no other project is open.
i'm sure the answer is simple but i can't find it ...

When you're setting up your capture, are you giving distinct names for 'Reel' and 'Description'?
If so, not sure what the deal is. If not, you should be.
FCP relies specifically on the REEL info to determine which physical tape the media was captured from. Then it's best to type a name in the DESCRIPTION, so you don't end up with a slew of files named...Untitled 01, Untitled 02, Untitled 03...etc.
    Let us know.

  • Is there any way to limit search hits to only the topics found in the TOC?

Hi. I'm interested in creating multiple TOCs for a project. Included will be TOCs that only have a subset of the project topics and books. Is there a way to restrict searching to only those topics and books that occur in the TOC?
    Thx.
    -kt

    Hi there
There are a couple of ways to accomplish this goal.
The long way around is to select all the topics that are not in the TOC and look at their properties. On the General tab is an option to exclude the topic from any content being found in the search.
Note that with this method, the topic won't be found even if another topic links to it.
The other way is to look at the Single Source Layout options. For WebHelp, it will be found by first clicking to expand the Content Categories area, then clicking to select the category. Once you do this, there should be an option to "Exclude Unreferenced Topics from Output".
Note that using this method, if another topic links to the unwanted topic, it has then been referenced and will still be found via search.
    Hope this helps... Rick

  • RH8 webhelp:  No topics found on search

Generated files from earlier versions of my project deliver search topics. Generated files from a recent version does not.
How do I fix the problem at the source project level?

    Here's what I did.
    1. Create a new blank project.
    2. In Project Manager, add New> Folders to the Project Files folder, being careful to copy the folder names from my most recent project.
    3. Imported topics into each folder from my most recent project.
    4. Imported the Table of Contents from my most recent project (New Table of Contents, Copy existing Table of Contents).
    5. Imported the project skin on the Project Set-up Tab from my most recent project.
So far so good.  I risk breaking links and can no longer see the creation date on my topics, but at least I have an operable search.

  • Search Tab not working - No topics found on all words

I have a RoboHelp X5.0.2 Build 801. Help project that has

was working. I took a backup of the project and it's output. I am

Using the same Help project I recompiled last week and the

    my computer.
Update for Windows XP (KB900485) on 4/26/06
Security Update for Windows XP (KB913580) on 5/10/06

  • Window Size for "Select a Topic" Window

Is there a way to change the default settings for the "Select
a Topic" window for the See Also control? I want the window to be a
little bigger. Right now it displays too small.
When creating a See Also control, you have an option in the
Display Options window of the wizard that allows you to choose
"Topics Found dialog." Therefore, when viewing the site help and
the user clicks the See Also control, a window displays that allows
the user to select a topic. This window is the one that I want to
    enlarge just a little bit.

  • RH9 FlashHelp Related Topic popup menu behavior

Hi. Recently upgraded to RH9 from RH7. Output is FlashHelp. Use IE7.
Discovered that when clicking on Related Topics button, page scrolls up and popup menu appears at the top of the topic, rather than appearing next to the button as it used to. Is there any way to resolve this buggy behavior? Attempted to recreate the button, used the topics found dialog option, etc. Get the same result regardless of changes to Related Topics options.
This issue occurs when I generate the output and test locally, as well as when it's published to our server.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

    Try Tools > Update DHMTL...
It's a wild guess and beyond that, I have no other ideas. Sorry.

  • Multiple issues with See Also controls when importing topics (RoboHelp 9)

I was wondering if anyone has found workarounds to a very flaky area of RoboHelp...
Suppose you create several topics A, B, C and D, each with a See Also control in it. Let's suppose all the topics are assigned to the same See Also keyword, say 'Alphabet'. At a later date you create a new project, and need to import your old topics. The following problems arise:
    1) When the topics are imported, RoboHelp does not recreate the 'Alphabet' See Also keyword in the See Also pod. However, the See Also functionality works (sort of) when the project is built. It is not possible to manually add the 'Alphabet' keyword in the See Also pod, because RoboHelp tells you it already exists! The result is an invisible 'Alphabet' See Also keyword, to which you cannot add further topics. As a workaround, I found it is essential to manually add the 'Alphabet' See Also keyword BEFORE importing the topics, and RoboHelp will then correctly assign A, B, C and D to it. However, this can be very awkward if you have hundreds of topics to import and are not sure what See Also keywords the topics reference.
    2) When the topics are imported and the project is built, the See Also control does not work as expected. In RoboHelp, right-clicking the See Also control and choosing See Also [] Properties... reveals that the options you previously set, such as 'Popup menu' or "If no topics are associated with any of the See Also keywords..." have been lost! So all those nasty Topics Found dialogs return when you build the help (instead of popups). If you have a See Also control placed in every topic for consistency, it will never grey out if the topic doesn't belong to any See Also keywords.
    3) When the topics are imported and the project is built, the current topic's name appears in its own list of See Also topics, i.e. it self-references. So for example, if you are viewing topic A and click the See Also link, topics A, B, C and D are listed, instead of just B, C and D. However, when you create new See Also keywords in RoboHelp, assign topics, and build the help, they work correctly and do not show the calling topic's name.
I spent hours analysing the HTML code of files I am importing, and the code of brand new topics created in RoboHelp, and I can see no obvious differences apart from some -1/0/1 flags in the green Metadata section preceding the SeeAlso code. I even tried changing these flags in my import files to exactly match the flags of new topics that RoboHelp just built, but when importing they still don't work. Clearly RoboHelp stores crucial See Also information elsewhere in the project, but does not make this reliably transportable by adding it to the HTM files that it builds, despite the huge Metadata comment block.
Adobe needs to put a lot of work into making it possible to cleanly re-use files as content re-use is a very common, and often critical, requirement.

    Hi there
After reading your post, I come away being unsure about your goal. Is the goal here to simply advise others as to what they may encounter using the See Also functionality? Or is your goal to advise Adobe about what you would like to see changed?
If your goal is to advise Adobe about what you would like to see changed, you need to visit the Wish Form at www.adobe.com/go/wish and file an official request. Otherwise, it just gives you a nice warm glow that you had your say here. But it won't have much of any effect on the product.
As far as any workarounds, I might suggest the following. You seem to be regularly creating a new projects and importing content. And if that's the case, I might suggest you create a template project that would already have these things in place so that as you add content, the expected keywords and links and whatnot are already in place. My thought is that this action would ease much of the frustration you are facing.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Related topics functioning

I have had a few issues with the Related Topics buttons.
    1) Even if I choose the Topics found dialog, it doesn't display. The topics display only in the pop-up menus.
    2) There is a delay of at a least a second, and closer to 2-seconds, before the RTs display. Works OK when viewing the output on the hard drive, but very slow on the server.
I was also having issues with the topics popping up only at the top of the page, but there were suggestions here on editing the JS, and I was able to fix.
    Ideas on the other issues?

    Hello again
Okay, I had some time and decided to test this out. I notice that when generating WebHelp or FlashHelp, all you are able to get is a popup and not a dialog despite specifically choosing the dialog if your browser is Firefox. IE seems to allow presenting the dialog. Unsure about Google Chrome, I didn't test with it.
I tested by adding two controls with each one configured differently. WebHelp and FlashHelp flat refuse to do a dialog and instead only do the popup unless IE is the browser.
    I tested in versions X5, 7, 8 and 9.
Hope this helps a bit... Rick

  • See Also popup menu not working

This had been posted before, but my situation is slightly
    different.
I have 2 See Also text hyperlinks and one Releated Topics
text hyperlink on each topic in my online help.
All are set to dislay topics in a popup menu.
The help is being generated to HTML help.
Once generated, one of the See Also hyperlinks displays in a
Topic LIst Dialog instead of the popup menu.
The other See Also and the Related Topics hyperlinks are
    dsiplayed with the popup menu.
I have checked the OPTIONS setting in the .HHP file and there
    is no reference to Language.
I added one and it still does not solve the problem.
An older version of this source works fine.
    Any ideas????

    Hi Michael
When you insert controls, if you look behind the scenes using
the TrueCode tab, you should see that RoboHelp HTML inserts two
distinctly different blocks of code. One is called a "design-time"
control and is displayed in green text. The other is the basic code
used by the HTML Help compiler. This section is displayed in gray
text. So you have two places to look for this setting. I'm only
referring to See Also controls here.
In the "green code" area should be a line that reads:
    <param name="DialogDisplay" value="1" >
If the value is 1, the control produces a popup. If the value
is 0, you get a topics found dialog.
In the "gray code" area should be a line that reads:
    <PARAM NAME="Command" VALUE="ALink,MENU">
If the value is Alink,MENU, the control produces a popup. If
the value is Alink, you get a topics found dialog.
Also, I just noticed you posted this identical question in
the RoboHelp for HTML Help forum category. Please don't cross post!
This is outlined in the forum guidelines you can read by
    clicking
    right here.

  • Search in Help Viewer always returns "No matching help topics were found".

    Hi!
    I'm running 10.3.9 on 14" iBook G4.
Recently re-installed OSX from CD after a hard disk replacement. Help viewer was fine on the original / old installation of the same version number of OSX.
The CD installs a version earlier than 10.3.9. Possibly 10.3.4? Cannot recall... is this important?
After HDD replacement, went through all the updates fairly rapidly, and arrived at version 10.3.9. Excellent! Except one thing (there may be more, but I've only discovered this so far!)... searches in Help Viewer return the same message irrespective of what I search for. I type the search string (e.g. "dvd" ) in the search bubble in the Viewer window. The message is as follows:
[bouyancy aid with question mark logo] No matching help topics were found
I have tried the usual things, without success, of:
    - Removing the Famous Four cache and preference files/dirs.
    - Repairing permissions. This repaired a few 'permissions'.
    - Rebooting.
I think the icon of the bouyancy aid is a comic irony, but very well suited to my situation. Anyone out there with any suggestions on how to fix, please?
    RSJ

    Excellent pointers, thanks!
I haven't quite got it working, yet, but have got it to a point that is better than nothing.
Very peculiar -- discovered that, after trying many of the troubleshooting ideas without success, the solution was to hit the "back" icon on the viewer to get to the list of help topics satisfying my search criteria... cannot work out why. It would appear that, for some reason, the viewer is skipping the page with the help topics, and going directly to the "No topics found" page. Curious. I am wondering if one of the above activities (from your help pages) may have helped.
Anyway. Thanks very much for your help on this, and your *very* rapid responses.
    Yours most impressed,
    RSJ.
