My trackpad will sometimes not register clicks. It is NOT a hardware issue, it is a software issue. What it is doing is not registering the LOCATION of the click. If I go to click on the x to close a window, sometimes it does nothing. Why? Because it thinks i'm clicking on the title bar. So if I click again on the x too fast it minimizes the window instead (like it would if you double clicked on the title bar.
The click is indeed registering, for me, just not in the right place on the screen. I resolve it by clicking somewhere else such as on the main window or a different browser tab and then for some reason it realizes where it's supposed to be and I can go back and click the X to close the window properly. Works this way every time it happens, without fail. But what causes it to happen in the first place I don't know.
Oh, I have a 13" macbook unibody in case that matters and I am running Lion with everything up to date. This has been going on for EVER.

I bought a new iMac last year and was busy so I didn't use it much. Along with a trackpad and a wireless mouse. The mouse works as expected however the trackpad will not scroll a Safari Window.
It will scroll when connected to my 5 year old Macbook. I took the trackpad to an Apple store and it worked fine on the geniuses laptop there.
It just doesn't scroll a windwo on my iMac. I have experimented with the settings endlessly but it just doesn't scroll. I tried calling tech support and they said take it to the apple store which I did. I just now noticed that in a safari window the slide bar disappears when I use the trackpad. but reappears wheh I use the mouse.
I hope I don't have to lug the entire computer back to the Apple store. It seems like a software issue to me. Any suggestions welcomed here.how do you try to scroll ?
some people are used to trackpads scrolling when they move their finger out in the right side or the likes
with newer macs one scroll by placing 2 fingers beside eachother and moving them up and down -

this is not working, ever since i have new OS also noticed the on friends mac before... the solution u recomended is NOT working for me. before i usualy clicked cotrol or cmd and then pinchout with two figers and zoom worked i want it the same way..

Trackpad will not recignise commands
M laptop will not recognise any commands on trackpad. Will only recognise dashboard from a mouse & will not recignise anything from keyboard.

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the trackpad will not respond and the keyboard is having trouble too. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Just installed Lion and now my trackpad will not zoom
Just installed Lion and now my trackpad will not zoom in and out and the direction of going up and down have reversed.
I have had Lion since it was first released July 20th, and I have noticed that I can not zoom in on everything that is on the internet, some things seem to not be able to be zoomed in on. Are you saying that no matter what website you go to (this one for eample) the zoom function does not work?

Black MacBook Trackpad Will not respond.
My trackpad will not respond to any gesture. The button will not work either. Does anyone know how to fix this?
do you have a mouse plugged into your macbook? Is your battery expanded and pressing on the bottom of the trackpad? If its the later, remove it and take it into an apple store. Mine was just replaced for free yesterday.

My trackpad will not connect to my mac
My TrackPad will not connect to my iMac. It used to work fine (via Bluetooth) then one day it stopped. I changed out the batteries but still can not get it to re-connect. The green light on the TrackPad flashes two (2) quick blinks.
Any suggestions?Hey there, my iMac has had this problem for the last week or so. I have tried the folowing solutions:
Reset PRAM
Reset SMC
Removed device and paired it again
Changed batteries
The only way it reconnects is if I hold the power button on the MTP until it flashes, shortly after it pairs again. In subsequent restarts there are no pairing issues. Strange thing is if I then leave the iMac for a day or so and start it up, it will not pair with the MTP causing me to take the above mentioned action.
This is a problem that has only occured after the most recent 10.9.3 update was installed. This leads me to believe it is a problem related to the update. Does anyone here have a permanent solution to this problem?

Trackpad will not select user after Mac restart
Trackpad works fine normally but after restart of Mac, will not click on user (cursor moves over it) so I have to use a mouse to click & enter password. All software is up to date. Any ideas.
The following was suggested on another thread but I've tried it & it doesn't solve the issue:
System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click
Tap to click
Secondary click
Uncheck the boxes to it if they are checked and recheck them back.
Any other ideas? -
In the past 3 months I have been having trackpad issues. I can select, but will not scroll. In options, it actually says trackBALL instead of trackPAD. I saw a post somewhere on the internet of how change it back to trackPAD and it worked for a few weeks and then all of a sudden it switched back to trackBALL, I can't find that post anywhere and I forgot what actions I took.
I have done many many battery pulls, I wiped all my installed applications. I am contemplating doing a reset to factory settings, but I am afraid of what headaches will pursue so I thought I would ask if anyone has a solution.
My OS is 7.1.0.694I would then suggest to either try updating your OS or even downgrade it if necessary.
We'll tackle this as a software issue and not a hardware issue as long as you're getting some kind of action from the trackpad. If at anytime if stops responding entirely, we'll know it's related to hardware.

My Trackpad will not slide! Help!
I was updating my settings on my trackpad so that I could use the 1-finger tap and the 3-finger slide, and suddenly, it stopped working. I haven't used the swiping motion before, but now I want to, and it will not do it. It will still scroll, and I am able to use the curser, but if I want to swipe from screen to screen, I can't.

The latest Skype version 6.11
when I turn on skype I don't hear that creepy start up sound. sometimes I do. when I try to change my status it won't let me. it just don't do anything.
when I try to call I don't hear the calling sound. no one can see/accept my calls. I can't accept anyone's calls either.
when I try to call someone and try to hang up it won't do it. it just keep calling. no ringing sound at all.
when I try to quit the icon sits on the task bar (it says signed out). alt/crt/del doesn't show that Skype is runing so I can't close it at all. I have to reboot my PC to actually close it.
everything worked fine until last Sun 12/5.
I deleted completely from the PC, unistaled, and instaled. it won't work. not even older versions.
I have a laptop with Win Vista with 6.11 version Skype - and it works perfect.
I have another PC with Win7 (my son's) - with Win7 and 6.11 verson Skype - it works
it works fine on Android Tablet and iPad.
I have done nothing that could do what it did.
Do you think that that latest change of gadgets could harm Skype?

My magic trackpad will not work (at all) in Parallels (W7)
The trackpad works beautifully on my Intel iMac (Lion) 10.7.2, but will not work at all under Windows 7 on Parallels. All latest updates of everything to my knowledge.
I find no notes on this either on the Parallels site or here. Am i the only one in the universe having this problem. To be clear, there is no response from the pad whatever - nada, bupkis.
Maybe I have to pair it manually with Windows? That seems odd since everything else works fine that is connected to the iMac.
Tips, hunches, soothing words?

Craigthe apple drivers will make the hardware work with windows it will not make everything work just as they do on osx in terms of geatures and the likes so likely it's as good as it gets

X300: TrackPad will not move mouse cursor for several seconds after clicking any TrackPoint button
I have a new X300 with a clean install of Windows XP (SP3) and all of the latest drivers from the Lenovo website. Whenever I click any of the three TrackPoint buttons, the TrackPad is not able move the mouse cursor for about 2 seconds. During this time, I can still move the cursor with the TrackPoint. I did not experience this behavior with my previous laptop, which was a ThinkPad T42 running Windows XP (SP2).

Perhaps the order of installing servicepack and several drivers is important.
I start off with an SP3-integrated installationof Windows XP, patch it fully first and then go on with driver updates (Chipset first, then ACPI, LAN, WLAN, Sound, Graphics, Input devices.
At least its possible to get it working flawlessly, my Installation proved that.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND INSTALLING SP3 AS AN UPDATE, ONLY START FROM SCRATCH USING AN SP3-INTEGRATED SETUP. -
My iMac mouse and trackpad will not scroll or swipe. as far as I can tell, the settings are correct.
I've had this Imac for a year and have had no problems until the mouse and trackpad both stopped scrolling a few weeks ago. I'm guessing it is some setting that is causing this since both are not working but I'm about to toss this out the window cause Apple makes it nearly impossible to use the software without the ability to scroll and swipe. I have checked the obvious settings. Please Help!!

Just recently, my Magic Trackpad stopped being able to zoom in/out. Batteries are okay, checked for updates (only found 1.0 update, which is for pre-Mountain Lion platforms), upaired & repaired, and still, no ability to zoom. It stopped suddenly while viewing a webpage, and hasn't worked since.
After reading similar discussions, I opened Sys Pref's, unchecked the zoom option, closed & reopened Sys Pref's, rechecked the zoom option box, closed Sys Pref's and the problem still remains.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
