Tracks for different Service Packs

Hi,
We have been developing a Web Dynpro application with JDI Scenario 2+ on WAS 6.40 SP12.  We recently released the product into production and decided to upgrade our JDI Server to SP15 but our other servers remain at SP12.
After the upgade to SP15 on the JDI Server, the SP15 archives were mistakenly checked-into the development track. Now when we build an SCA and attempt to deploy it to another machine that has not been upgraded to SP15 the deployment fails. Looking at the manifest in the SCA file it specifically requires SP15 versions of the SAP components.
I have tried to check-in the SP12 archives to the track but when doing so I receive the following error:
com.sap.cms.util.exception.checkin.CMSKAlreadyCheckInException: Component (Vendor/Name/Location/Counter sap.com/SAP-JEE/NIGHTLYBUILD/20050422042400) specified in the file (D:\usr\sap\JTrans\CMS\inbox\SAP-JEE_SP12.sca) is already imported into the system (Domain/Name Tst/MRCMO_D)
Any suggestions on how I can change this track back to building archives that requires SP12 instead of requiring SP15?

Hi Jason,
after changing the track have a look at the buildspace in CBS Web UI to make sure that the three compartments in the buildspace are empty. If they are empty you can try to check-in the SCA files into your track without doing a restore system state via the check-in tab in transport studio.
If the buildspace is not empty clear the compartments that were created for the three SCAs via CBS command line tool first.
If nothing else helps you can use the CBS command line tool to also upload the SCA files. The drawback is that CMS is not informed about this and probably tells you that an older or newer version is checked in. A simple way to check if the correct SCA file is checked in is by comparing the number of DCs the three SCAs contain with a track that definetly contains SP12 SCAs. This comparision can be done in CBS Web UI.
Have a look at NWDI reference guide (help.sap.com) for more details about the command line client.

  • Installing different service packs into one server

    Hi,
    I was just wondering is there any way in which i can incorporate different service packs into one server?Any clue with regards to this is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
    The basic concept of applying SPs in Java is to add the new functionality and remove the gaps which were in previous releases. And always when we are using the Java instance the current SP is recognised. Before the deployment of a software component, the SDM server performs additional version checks. Only new software components that have a higher counter than the counter of the old software components can be deployed.
    When we apply the SP in Java, following things are checked:
    The vendors and the names of the SCAs are the same as the ones of the software components that are installed on the system.
    The releases of the SCAs are the same as the ones of the software components that are installed on the system. JSPM allows updates only within one release.
    The support package levels of the SCAs are higher than or equal to the ones of the software components that are installed on the system.
    If the support package levels of the SCAs are equal to the ones of the software components that are installed on the system, the patch levels of the SCAs are higher.
    Checks for modified software components
    If the provider of an SCA is different from the original provider, SAP AG, of the software component that is installed on the system, this SCA has been modified using the NWDI.
    Checks on foreign software components
    The JSPM checks if, after the deployment of a software component, the dependencies on other software components are fulfilled.

  • Is it possible to have different service pack between Exchange servers.

    Is it possible to have CAS Exchange 2007 running service Pack 1 and Mailbox server 2007 running SP2? In my env I need to have SP1 running on CAS server for some applications but also need to install SP2 for migration. Application cannot be upgraded so
    I am thinking to keep one CAS running SP1 and upgrade other Exchange 2007 servers to SP2. Please suggest.

    Hi,
    It is recommended to have the same service pack level on all Exchange 2007 servers, different service pack level may have potential effects.

  • Error Using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3

    Hi,
    Im using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3. The connection is succesfully, but when I use de statement.executequery() method, there is the follow exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'PEC_COUNTRY'.
    This is my code:
    ResultSet resultSet;
    Statement statement;
    Connection connection;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver").newInstance();
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;user=sa;password=");
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT COY_INX, COY_NAME, COY_ICO FROM PEC_COUNTRY
    ");When I make the last instruction, occurs the above exception
    Thanks in advance
    Luija

    The way you are connecting, the default database used will be 'master' and i guess that the table PEC_COUNTRY was defined in another database.
    If it is the case you need to specify the database name.
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;DatabaseName=yourdb;user=sa;password=");

  • SLD on different service pack

    Hi,
    Our XI system is being upgraded to SP16 in a short while. Now, we have a DEV system, a Quality Assurance system, and a Production system. Our SLD is installed on the DEV system and functions as a central SLD, so QA and PRD use the same SLD.
    My question is: Is it possible to have the SLD on a different service pack than Production? We want to implement SP16 on DEV first (which includes the SLD) and then QA and finally Prod, but there is going to be a gap of one to two weeks. Will the production system (which is on SP12) still function correctly, or do we have to upgrade the service pack on all systems at once?
    Thanks in advance!
    Yordy

    Hi Yordy,
    Theoretically, the SLD can have a different SP (as long as it is equal or highr, it is okay). What needs to be the same is the CIM model version.
    Cheers

    Regards,
    Ravi Duggirala

    Hi Ravi the following are my answers to your points:
    1) Can we install SAP for Professional Services pack on a running ECC 6 system?
    Yes
    2) What is the Impact on existing ECC 6 on this installation?
    No impact on the existing set up. We have to add cProjects suite with ECC 6.0.
    3) What are the perquisites for Installing SAP for Professional Services?
    If you are looking for full IS-Professional Services then you need CRM, ECC, cProjects and BW. If your organization is into NPD and if you have critical mass in resources then you can go for xRPM also.
    4) Integration with Microsoft EPM server possible? To which extent?
    I don't know exactly what is EPM?
    5) Is SAP for Professional Services is available in any SAP Enhancement Package for ECC 6?
    ECC 6.0 service pack 11 will have some part of modules specified above. But CRM and BW are seperate modules, which needs to be installed seperately.
    You can award points if at all this info helps you.
    Apart from can you eloborate on your requirement. I can help you if at all you are interested.

  • Using several UMTS access points (APN) for different services

    Hello,
    I wonder if it is possible to use several UMTS access points (APN) for different services.
    situation:
    1) The iPhone is used for business AND private purposes.
    2) The company's mobile telephone contract includes a APN, which is only usable by the employees' mobile phones.
    problem / question:
    Is it possible to define two access points in the iPhone, that for example the exchange account uses the company's APN, while all the other apps use the standard APN of the carrier?
    Problem is, that some iPhone's benefits like Push-Messages are blocked by the carrier's APN. Now, I have to switch the access point by installing the appropriate profile every time I want to check my e-mails or vice versa for using "normal" apps.
    I hope you can hep me.

    Mitch

    Thanks for your help! This really helps a lot! We actually only want to replace the autonmous access point with the controller solution and make one WLAN available at another site. From what I can see, this is possible with our current solution - we just need to switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3 and purchase the corresponding amount of supported Access Points (I think we should be able to get some refurbished ones).
    Am I correct in assuming that the Access Points we want to replace (AIR-AP1230B-E-K9 with 802.11b radio only) cannot be upgraded to lightweight ones? Since if I understood document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html correctly, this is not possible with access points that only have 802.11b radios.
    Regarding the switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3: Do we really only need to perform the steps I described in my first post?
    And one last question regarding REAP. As far as I understood this is only needed when local traffic needs to be maintained in case the connection to the WLC becomes unavailable. So we really don't need it if we want to access resources that are only available over the WLC?
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Different service packs in admin server and managed server

    Hi,
    Has anybody successfully used a WebLogic 6.1 SP1 managed server that
    connects to a WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 admin server?
    BEA's docs claim:
    "The Administration Server must be running the same version of
    WebLogic Server as the Managed Servers in its domain. The
    Administration Server must also have the same or later service pack
    installed as the Managed Servers in its domain. For example, the
    Administration Server could be running version 6.1, Service Pack 2
    while the Managed Servers are running version 6.1, Service Pack 1."
    This is precisely what we want to do, but it's not working. In this
    case, we need to run the admin server and managed server on the same
    machine, but we need the managed server to run SP 1 to work around a
    bug in SP 2. So to our initial installation of WebLogic 6.1 SP 2,
    where I run the admin server, I added a second installation, this time
    WebLogic 6.1 SP 1, with a different BEA_HOME. When I start the
    managed server from this second installation, I can see from the logs
    that it is starting up correctly as 6.1 SP 1. But then it fails with
    a ClassCastException when connecting to the admin server (I have
    included the stack trace below). This seems typical of version
    compatibility problems I've had when I've tried connecting to a server
    with a client of a different version.
    But in this case, you are supposed to be able to have the managed
    server with a lower service pack. Does this work for anybody? Has
    anybody encountered the problem I'm having? Note that the servers are
    not clustered, if that makes any difference, and we have a custom
    security realm in addition to the default file realm (though "system"
    of course is in the default file realm).
    Thanks in advance for any help,

  • Prerequisites for OS service pack upgrade from SAP end.

    Hi All,
    I Have AIX 5.3 OS at TL 08 and Service pack 1 level JS 23 and JS12 blades.

    Hi,

    1) How to configure a condition to check Windows Service pack (may be more than 1 Windows favor such as XP, Win 7 and Win 8) and how to remediate in case client is not complying with Windows requirement.

    4) where can we see the logs of none-complaints logs and find out the reason for non-complaints
    appreciate if someone can please give us a proper document to achive the above task or send me any working senario configuration steps.

    1. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)  remediation remediates Windows clients from a locally managed WSUS server, or  Microsoft-managed WSUS server with the latest Windows service packs, hotfixes,  and patches (WSUS updates) for compliance. You can create a WSUS remediation  where a NAC Agent integrates with the local WSUS Agent to check whether the  endpoint is up-to-date for WSUS updates. You can also duplicate, edit or delete  WSUS remediations from the remediations list.
    You can configure Windows clients to  receive the latest WSUS updates from a Microsoft-managed WSUS server, or locally  administered WSUS server for compliance.

  • Any workarounds for xp service pack 1?

    I own windows XP service pack 1. Does anyone know of a way to use this with Bootcamp/Leopard on my Mac Pro? I also own a Vista upgrade set and that wont work either. Errrr!
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    No, you cannot use Windows XP SP1 under Boot Camp. However, there is a way to create a Windows XP SP2 CD from the files on your Windows XP SP1 CD and the full Windows XP SP2 update (downloadable from Microsoft). This process is called slipstreaming and should be done on a PC.
    http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html
    You can also use a program called nLite which handles the slipstreaming for you. All you have to do is to copy the files on your Windows XP SP1 CD onto a folder on your PC and download the SP2 update from Microsoft. Then launch nLite and choose to integrate the SP2 file. I repeat, these must be done on a PC.
    You can also install the Vista upgrade using Boot Camp. The trick is to not enter your product key when you first install Vista. Then after the Vista (trial) is installed launch the Vista setup program again under Vista and choose to upgrade Vista.

  • Sequence for Updates (Service Pack / Fix Pack)

    Hello everybody.
    I'm a bit confused about the update strategy.
    Until now I was convinced that the strategy for the updates is or should be like this:
    Service Pack 1 --> Fix Pack 1.1 --> Fix Pack 1.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 1.x
    Service Pack 2 --> Fix Pack 2.1 --> Fix Pack 2.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 2.x
    Service Pack 3 --> Fix Pack 3.1 ...
    and so on, and so on.
    There shouldn't be possible to install, e.g a Fix Pack 2.1 after the Service Pack 3 is installed.
    But because of an problem with the connection server under Windows 2003 I'm not that sure anymore.
    The story in short:
    We've got installed the Service Pack 4 on the Enterprise.
    After a few Windows updates the connection server didn't start anymore.
    In the forum some say that this issue is fixed with the Fix Pack 3.6.
    So first I wondered why the issue occurs on a system with a higher patch.
    But the I've seen in the SAP Service Marketplace that the Fix Pack 3.6 is released after the Service Pack 4. Does this mean it is "more up to date"?
    Is my image of the update sequence incorrect?
    Thanks for any explanation in advance.
    Regards
    PS: My connection service problem was solved by uninstalling the windows update KB2509553 and a restart of the system.

    Hi,
    the explanation of this is the following:
    At some point they start with the development of SP4. Lets say they start the dev. of SP4 during the release SP3 FP3.5. So all fixes after FP3.5 wont get packed into SP4. Thats why FP3.6 will fix a bug which SP4 wont. With the release of FP4.1 this fix from FP3.6 will be packaged aswell into FP4.1
    I hope this made it clear.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • Are admin and office clients always updated for each service pack.

    Hi,
    I am investigating upgrading our BPC version from 7.0 SP3.   The question I have been asked by my business clients is "do the admin and office clients of BPC always get updated with each service pack?"  I assume they do because the install guide indicates that you must update them to the same version as the server.  Upgrading the client versions is always a concern here because since we don't allow the automatic update our plans have to include packaging an SMS deployment to over 500 workstations of several different configurations and locations.

    Hi,
    Yes, there are changes in the clients in every service pack. This is why it's important that the version of the client matches the version on the server. We've seen issues where there was a mismatch and no one could log in because of the changes in the client.
    I would advise always updating the clients when adding a new service pack.
