Transferring a movie file from iphone 3gs to pc

i have a file thats 320mbs that will not upload to mobileme or be sent to my computer, its too large to email, i really want to get this file off my phone in fear of losing it, help?

OK, try this. Launch itunes, connect your phone, go up to File>Add to library. Then browse to your iphone name (Which is shown as camera in windows Explorer). All the photos and videos should be shown. Select the video you want to copy and click Add. This should copy the video to your pc(given the size, this might take awhile). Then just go to Library>Movies and see if it shows up properly.

  • IPhoto reads wrong date of .mov file from iPhone 3GS...help!

    Hi all
    Need some help/advice please.
I have a bunch of files I am importing in to iPhoto that were initially downloaded to a windows laptop. I used Graphic Converter (GC) to successfully rotate and align the creation/modified dates so iPhoto reads the correct date. Now GC edits the .jpg and .avi file metadata fine, but wont edit .mov files from my iPhone? So now the iPhone videos are strewn all over the place in iPhoto compared to where they should be date-wise. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
The .mov files in GC show the correct creation date, but iPhoto reads the actuals file's modified date instead of the internal creation date? So strange?
    Thanks
    Jared

iPhoto gets it's date and time from the Photos Exif metadata, not the file creation or modification dates. It will only use those if your photos have no Exif.
If you subsequently export these files then the created and modification dates a re very likely to change.
You can adjust the date and time rather more easily in iPhoto (Using either the Photos -> Adjust Date and Time and/or the Photos -> Batch Change commands) You can also write the corrected date and time to the Exif of the oriignals files, and export it along with the file in the future.
I'm not sure what's up with the dates on these mov files, but Movies don't have an Exif. You might want to check with the makers of Graphic Coverter for help.
You know that you can move pics and movies around inside iPhoto, right? Drag them from Event to Event?

  • .MOV files from iphone - audio but no video in QuickTime

iphone 3gs, latest DirectX and Quicktime. Downloaded .mov files from iphone don't play correctly in QuickTime. The audio is there but there is no video, just a black screen.
I tried switching the video to "safe mode". This does show the video, but its terribly choppy and unwatchable.
I believe something changed recently with an update to itunes or QuickTime. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

How do I get this file to play?
By installing the proper video codec component if available as advised by application. See the video "Format:" entry in finder "Info", QT "Inspector", or "Property" window. Basically you must have the same playback decoder installed on your second machine as was used to encode the video the first. Sounds as if the component configurations on the two machines are not the same.

I cannot play .mov files (from iPhone) in Premiere Elements 10. Is there a solution?
It used to work fine. I wonder if the problem has something to do with the recent iPhone update. Is there any Premiere update I can download?

Well, if it used to work... and then you updated your iphone and now it does not work... that seems to ME like the iphone update changed something in the files
But, exactly what is inside your mov files?

  • Mov files from Iphone lagging when attempting to edit in imovie.

Recently I imported a couple videos (mov files) from my iphone to edit them in imovie.. but for some reason they keep lagging. when I drag the mouse across the clip the playhead line doesnt even keep up... All videos I shot in the past have been edited just fine without lagging and they still don't when I checked them in my events.. So I have reason to believe its the file but they're all Mov files. If anyone has insight on these I will appreciate the help...Thank You.

    Hi Tyler!
Of the options you list I would choose 'Raw DV'. iMovie is designed to handle a DV stream @ 13GB per hour, for editing and transfer to iDVD.
But ask the vendor to confirm that his 'Raw DV' is designed for transfer to iMovie 6 on an Apple Mac, and before he loads up the hard drive you are supplying make sure that it has been formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • Transferring HD movie files from Sony HDR-SR7 to Macintosh computer

I am contemplating buying a Sony High Definition Camcorder Model HDR-SR7. That model has a built in 60 GB hard drive on the camcorder. I would like to transfer the HD movie files to my PowerBook G4. I am told that a USB cable is available with a dock for the HDR-SR7 camcorder. My question is whether that USB transfer option is compatible with the MAC OS. Specifically will I be able to transfer the movie files from the camcorder to my PB G4 internal hard disk? I am not necessarily interested in editing the movie files---just want to transfer. If the USB option does not work are there any other options that will allow me to transfer the movie files ?

Elliot: I know you say you don't want to edit, but this thread could be interesting for you:

  • Transferring music/files from Iphone 3gs to new computer

    Hi
I have previously transferred music form my ipod to an old laptop, both have since broken or been updated.... so lost the info for the website yamipod...I have had a look to help move everything but for some reason it doesn't work on my computer!! Wrong file and I tried installing two of three recommnded programs (FinalTorrent was one) it still wont let me do it....
I also checked out (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1202) but it doesnt give me the options as shown on screen...
I don't know if I'm being thick (pregnancy brain!!) or not but i really need easy to follow help to save my music on my iphone!
    Thanks Jules

    Hi Jules,
You must use iTunes software only for syncing music to your iPhone. Yamipod is a third party iPod manager not supported by iTunes.
Since iTunes is dependent on your internet connection, I doubt that FinalTorrent will work.
Make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements for an iPhone 3GS.
    iPhone 3GS Tech Specs
    Windows system requirements
    PC with USB 2.0 port
Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 9.2 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access

  • Delete partially copied movie file from iPhone. Shows grayed out in Videos on the iPhone but it doesn't show up in iTunes.

    Hello.
I have synced my iPhone 4S with iTunes and I got an error while copying one movie. Now this movie shows up grayed out in videos on the iPhone but NOT in iTunes. Hence, I cannot delete this partially copied movie from my iPhone. And since it is grayed out, the right-to-left swipe does not work. I have resynced with "no movies" option so that every movie would be deleted and indeed every movie was deleted except for the problematic one. I rebooted the iPhone several times in case it was a glitch. No success. I even tried tools like iExplorer and DiskAid but I cannot find this **** file. Is there any way to delete this partially copied file from the iPhone without having to restore it?
    Regards,
    HawkeyeQ

    Hi adtsalmon,
You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Here's the link to the Movie Rentals FAQs site FYI:

    Hope this helps!

  • IMovie09 Hangs when importing 3 minute .MOV recorded from iPhone 3GS,

    Hi All,
Ok, so I have had a quick search to solve this but had no luck, and I am a Mac newbie, so please be gentle
Here is my problem - I recorded one of my kids singing a song with my iPhone, sync'd this up with iTunes, converted it to iPod compatible within iTunes (for the iPod video to be able to chew it).
Now, we have an xmas idea for the grandparents, that we can get both kids singing songs, video them and give the grandparents a dvd for xmas
Hurdle 1: When I try to import the .MOV or the converted for iPod Video friendly version into iMovies, I get the beachball/hourglass.. The video that I'm trying to import is 3.4 mins in length - I tried several times, and this morning left it running when I left for work, so it has had 13 hours of processing and no joy, so I have had to force app to exit again... (Hey, I though macs just 'worked', what's this ctrl-alt-del stuff :P )
This is the first time I have loaded iMovie and I have tried logging in with a new account too in case something has got mashed with my main account.
The mac is 3 months old and I am still finding out what apps it has
Thanks for any help / pointers My backup plan (already working) is to continue on my windows PC, as that seems to quite happily play with the .MOV file etc, but I would rather use the mac as it should be better geared for this stuff But tbh I am struggling already to get the mac to do it's thing - I thought iphone -> mac would just 'work'
Oh..I have installed nothing else on the mac apart from snow leopard & configured email accounts and the iMac came with iLife 09 installed.
    ty in advance
    Andy

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I didn't have iPhoto launching when i connected my iPhone, but I've launched it manually now.
This time, in iMovie, I have 48 images appearing in 'iPhoto videos' under the event section of iMovie.
Is this the correct behaviour ? Or should I only see one image to represent the video (Asking because if I have 3-4 movies on the iphone, I will have a lot of thumbnail images in the event window I think.
Just for the sake of it, I tried importing the video again ( to see if things worked after using iPhoto), and iMovie still beachballs, but if I can use the iPhoto method that is fine, although it seems odd behaviour to be presented with 48 'images' of the same movie.
Would I need to run everything through iPhoto before it appears in iMovie ? I'm guessing that the import movie selection doesnt work..
Thanks for replying, and feel free to point out any newbie basics that I am misunderstanding

  • LR 5.3 won't import .mov files from iphone 5s

I'm running Mavericks and LR 5.3 and have had trouble importing video files from my iphone 5s.  All of my software is up to date.  It seems that LR is having trouble connecting to the dynamic link server.  It doesn't work even when I disable my firewall.  I've already purged my video cache in LR.  Is there anything else I should try?

There are many, many posts of this nature in these forums.  See, for example:
    iphoto won’t import mov video
For many, rebuilding the XPC helper cache solves the problem off the bat. In terminal try this, and reboot:
    sudo /usr/libexec/xpchelper --rebuild-cache
The above posted by Andy Ball on a thread related to a similar problem with Aperture:
Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion
    Other things to try:
    1. create a fresh iPhoto library and try that.  (hold down opt while launching iPhoto)
    2. create a new OS X user (in system preferences) and try there.
In my case – and many cases – neither of those things work either, which means the problem is system wide.  Again suggesting that the xpc helper solution might work. But for me it did not either.
There are other suggestions that there are conflicts with Perian (on Yosemite) and flip4mac.  In my case uninstalling both of those didn't solve it either.
So maybe one of those solutions will work for you, results apparently vary.  But this is a huge unresolved issue many others are having as well.  I have a case with a senior apple advisor open, still unresolved. His suggestion of course, at this point, is an archive and re-install. I'm not ready to go there yet.
BTW, another thing he had me try was to import the file with Image Capture (which works).  Then open it in QuickTime Player X.  Then try exporting to 480p.  Does QuickTime crash?  It does for me.
    My summary:
    1. Files successfully import with Image Player.
    2. Files play with QuickTime Player X.
    3. QuickTime Player X crashes when exporting to 480p.
    4. Files import with iMove.
    5. Files fail to import with iPhoto (unrecognized format as with OP)
    6. iPhoto import failure/errors are system wide and not specific to a library or a user.
    7. rebuilding xpchelper cache and rebooting in my case does not resolve issue.
    8. same videos import fine in iPhoto on a totally different system (laptop running same versions of OS X 10.10 and iPhoto 9.5.1)

  • HT201302 Transferring large video file from Iphone

My video file is extremely large and won't transfer by click and drag to hard drive. I have tried every way possible.  Any suggestions?

Windows XP cannot import video files larger than 500 MB using Camera and Scanner Wizard. You can transfer these files directly from your device by selecting them in My Computer and dragging or copying the movie files to your computer's hard drive. If that doesn't work, you'll have to try third-party software, like this:

OK, try this. Launch itunes, connect your phone, go up to File>Add to library. Then browse to your iphone name (Which is shown as camera in windows Explorer). All the photos and videos should be shown. Select the video you want to copy and click Add. This should copy the video to your pc(given the size, this might take awhile). Then just go to Library>Movies and see if it shows up properly.

  • Attempting to transfer large mov file from iphone to PC

I've got a large mov file I'm trying to transfer to my PC.  I have 57 GB of free space on my PC, yet I'm told there's "not enough storage" to complete this operation.  Any ideas? Thanks for your advice.

Via computer iTunes is the only way.

  • Transferring 6,000 photos from iphone 3GS to iMac OS X 10.6

i have finally purchased an iMac, haven't yet performed the 'switch' from my Windows XP desktop and haven't connected my iphone to the iMac yet since my Apple salesguy said everything would be erased from my phone if i did that without first bringing in both computers so they could do the transfer for me. But i want to transfer the photos from my iphone to my iMac NOW and not wait for everything to be transferred first....has anybody done this yet, and if so, did you lose everything on your iphone ? I don't want to synch my phone yet as i'm afraid i'll later get duplicate contacts and calendar info when i later do the switch from pc to imac. I also have MobileMe but not sure on the details of using it with my new imac if i haven't yet done the switch...again, don't want duplicates. Thanks for any help anybody can offer.

There are some applications that let uses access the iPhone without having to go thru iTunes. You may have to set up iTunes to not sync when the phone is connected first.
A couple of them are DiskAid, iPhone Explorer 2.005 and iPod Access Photo 1.7.1.
If you have iTunes set to open when the iPhone is connected and sync automatically you might want to zip iTunes, delete the unzipped iTunes before connecting the iPhone.
You did set up iTunes and iPhone to use the full sized image files and not a reduce version, right?
