Transfert column_name to a value in other table

I have a very large file that I receive and use sqlloader to load it to a staging table. I would like to be able to take the some column_name of the staging table and convert to a value and insert it into another table and the value attached to this column would also be inserted into that table

Hi,
I am trying to update one table based on the values of another table. Since you can't use From in update statements, how do you execute this?
For example i have to tables, Table A and Table B. I want to update a column or columns in Table A based on another value in Table B:
So if the column in Table B was 1 then column in Table A would be Yes, if Table B was 2, then Table A would be Yes, if Table B was 3 then Table A would be N/A and so on...
Any help would be appreciated.

Displaying filed value or other table filed in ALV output table

Hi,
I have a vendor leadger report displaying vendor balance statement witj all line item details, all data is present in One final table this final table i hvae shown in output but along with this in the first line in output i want to display openig balance of that vendor and in the last line i want to display closing balance of that vendor in the period for opening balance and closing balabce i have that amount in the diffrent tables or fileds how to display that amount in output along with my Final table .

    Do this way
1) get the opening balance
2)   append that line to final table
3) then append data from other table in final table where data for all line item
4) then again get closing balance
5) append that data in final table and you will get first line as opening balance ,then middle data and last closing data .

Here u go.
Interface 1:
Put a filter in ur TABLE1 on attr.name='PRODUCT_CODE'.
In Target TABLE2 map
SERVICE_ID = TABLE1.SERVICE_ID
PRODUCT_CODE=TABLE1.ATTR_VALUE
Use IKM SQL Control Append.
Interface 2:
Put a filter in ur TABLE1 on attr.name='PROVIDER'.
In Target TABLE2 map
SERVICE_ID = TABLE1.SERVICE_ID
PROVIDER=TABLE1.ATTR_VALUE
Make SERVICE_ID as KEY (when u click on the target column in the Properties u can see KEY under Target Column Properties)and use IKM Oracle Incremental Update.
P.S: I assume Oracle as source and target.

How to set the value of the column as the value of other table coulmn.

dear friends
i have a table SO_D having coulm (so_no,item_cd,qty,rate,unit)
and anather table so_tax(so_no,tax_code,tax_percent,tax_amt,item_cd,flag)
now i have ALL VALUES in the first table i.e so_d
but in table so_tax i have all values except item_cd.
the values in the so_tax table comes from so_d by the formula ((qty*rate)*percent(which in so_tax table))/100) corresponding to each item_cd
here so_no and item_cd are primary key in so_d and foreign key in the so_tax.
and for each so_no the item_Cd is unique and my repeat for new so_no in the table so_d.
now i have the problem that in the table so_tax the value in the coulmn item_cd is blank .
but the tax amount is calculated for each item_cd .
now i want to update the table with the item_Cd values ad they are in the so_d table according to the tax amount calculated by using above formula.
please suggest the solution..
any query please ask

Deleting rows from table based on value from other table

Hello Members,
I am struck to solve the issue said below using query. Would appreciate any suggestions...
I have two tables having same structures. I want to delete the rows from TableA ( master table ) with the values from TableB ( subset of TableA). The idea is to remove the duplicate values from tableA. The data to be removed are present in TableB. Catch here is TableB holds one row less than TableA, for example

The goal here is to remove the two entries from TableB ('Test') from TableA, finally leaving TableA as

1. delete from TestA a where rowid = any (select rowid from TESTA b where b.Name = a.Name and a.Name in ( select Name from TestB ));
Any suggestions..
We need TableB. The problem I mentioned above is part of process. TableB contains the duplicate values which should be deleted from TableA. So that we know what all values we have deleted from TableA. On deleted TableA if I later insert the value from TableB I should be getting the original TableA...

How to select rows based on values from other table?

I need to select all rows from TABLE1 whose time column is NOT between fromTime and toTime from TABLE2.
For example, those table contain following rows:
TABLE1
|id |time |...
|1 | 10 |...
|2 | 20 |...
|... | ... |...
TABLE2
|fromTime|toTime|
| 3 | 6 |
| 10 | 16 |
| 20 | 25 |
So, in the case above the first and second rows shouldn't be returned by the query since 10<=10<=16 AND 20<=20<25.

Can retrieve value from one table, but not the other (exception thrown)

I hope some friendly soul can help me out here. I have a local Access database file. I am able to get a value from all tables except for one, which throws this error: "System.NullReferenceException:
Object reference has not been specified to an object".
The rather simple lines of code when working is this:
Dim email As Object
value = MyDataSet.Tables("Table")(0)(1).ToString
Msgbox(email)
However, when simply changing from "Table" to "AnotherTable", the exception is thrown. I
have seriously no idea why. I've made sure the datatypes are the same and that the values are not NULL.
What gives?

Going with your last reply, you should be accessing data via the strong typed classes that get generated.
Example using Microsoft Northwind database accessing the customers table in a MS-Access database. Note the check for Rows, we could even go farther if we are questioning issue with the data via try-catch statements writing errors to the IDE Output window.
I would highly recommend never referencing rows without first checking if there are rows and secondly never reference columns by ordinal index, always use the column name. One example with ordinal positioning, suppose someone did SomeDataTable.Columns("SomeColName").SetOrdinal(3)
and you expect the ordinal position to be 1 ? things will crash-n-burn. Food for thought :-)

Delete a user from a table whose name is a foreign key in other tables

Dear All;
I am trying to figure out an easy way to do this. I just recently took someone application who utilized 500 tables. I am trying to delete a user from a table called member_table. However, I am having problems doing so because the user name is a foreign key in other tables which has a relationship with this member_table. I really can't naviagte through all 500 different tables and start deleting the user from each table . hence, I would like to figure out a way to delete the user from the member_table without getting the error message

Unless you want to find and re-create all of the FK's that point to that field so you can make them ON DELETE CASCADE (note it is the FK not the PK that has that attribute), you will need to either delete that member id from each of the child tables individually or update each one individually to either null or some valid value in member_table before you can delete the id from member_table.
You can find all of the tables, and the corresponding column_name that have an FK relationship to memeber_table with the following:

I have an Oracle SP for comparing 80 column values across 8 table pairs in 2 diff DBs.
However, it is taking hell lot of time around 6hours to process 10,000 records.
Can anyone suggest how to fine-tune this?

Tables prefixed with X are the temp tables to store data of DB-A.
The report will be originally based on DB-B, so DB Links will not be required for @PROD1.WORLD tables.
This is a test region, so I have pointed to @PROD1.WORLD to test with Prod Data.
SEC_COMPARE_CONFIG is the config table containing the table_name to be reported, corresponding temp tables to store the data and the columns on which it is to be reported.
There are in total 8 tables- 90 rows and 8 temp tables.
SPOKE_TO_HUB_SEC_MTCH_TBL records the securities on which it is to be reported.

Help with Reading values from static table in a .pdf file

Hi guys,
Pls try to clear this doubt of mine.
I basically have 2 files. Both are .pdf extension and they have tables in them. I need to compare certain values in one file with the corresponding values in the other table in the second file.
I need to do this programatically in c# . net
I have tried using packages like pdfbox and stuff which convert the pdf file into text. But cant I get the table as an object or something using which I can access the required rows and columns?
Also, these tables are static information. They are not a part of a form or anything like that.
Please help me with this.

How to get string value from database table using Visual Studio 2005?

Im developing plugin in illustrator cs3 using visual studio 2005. I need to get the values eneterd in database. Im able to get the integer values. But while getting string values it is returning empty value.

In the above code im geeting project D which is an integer value. But not able to get the project name.

Copy selected values from a table control into another table control

hi there,
as seen in the subject i need to copy selected values from a table control into another table control in the same screen. as i dont know much about table controls i made 2 table controls with the wizard and started to change the code... right now im totally messed up. nothing works anymore and i don't know where to start over.
i looked up the forums and google, but there is nothing to help me with this problem (or i suck in searching the internet for solutions)
i have 2 buttons. one to push the selected data from the top table control into the bottom tc and the other button is to push selected data from the bottom tc into the top tc. does somebody has a sample code to do this?

How to retrieve 2 values from a table in a LOV

Hi
I'm pretty new to APEX. I try to retrieve two values from a table using a LOV. I have a table named DEBIT with then columns SITE, NAME and KEY
I want to display NAME to the user in a list. When the user select an item from the list, I want to retrieve the data of the SITE and KEY column of this item in order to launch an SQL command based on this two values.
How to retrieve thes two values whant the user chooses an item from the list ?

From what I understood about your requirement, you want a 'select list with submit' which displays "NAME" and based on the value selected, you want to get the corresponding values for "SITE" and "KEY" from the table.
Step 1: Create a select list with submit, say P1_MYSELECT 
Use something like this in the dynamic list of values for the select list: 
SELECT NAME display_value, NAME return_value
FROM DEBIT 
Step 2: Create a page process of type PL/SQL block. Also create 2 hidden items P1_KEY and P1_SITE. 
In the PL/sQL, write something like:

v_key DEBIT.KEY%TYPE;
v_site DEBIT.SITE%TYPE;
CURSOR v_cur_myvals IS
 SELECT KEY, SITE
 FROM DEBIT
 WHERE NAME = :P1_MYSELECT;
