Transform in perspective

hi, usually when i press Cmd + t i can trasform my layer.
let's say i have a simple shape, if i transform i can chose prospective but it wont make it longer or shorter in perspective. Today searching the web i found a psd file where for some reason i can do that.
here is a gif of what this psd file does. i press transform, and it let me change lenght n witdth based on perspective. amazing! how do i do that??
http://it.tinypic.com/r/2le5gn9/5
i noticed theres a small icon on the layer, is it that making the magic? how do i do that?
http://it.tinypic.com/r/hwyfq0/5 <- icon on the layer
please help me:D

You would make a window, as if you are looking straight at it.  It can have several layers.  Once done, you put all the layers into a smart object.  Then you can transform them to fit the wall.  In the attached image, I started out with the windows all squared up then put them in smart objects to shape them to the walls.  I also had several different layers within the smart objects so that I could move some layers to look like the window was open to different distances.

  • Perspective transform for Smart object.

    Hello!
I working on the  Photoshop with Smart Object with link to Illustrator. How can i transform perspective for Smart Object in Photoshop? There are accessible to me only Scale Rotate and Skew, others is gray out.
    Thanks all!

That's a special type of SO you've got: Vector SO. Right-click it in Layers panel and pick Convert to Smart Object. That'll put the VSO inside a SO which you can transform with perspective.

  • ANyone have a good link or tutorial of words in 3d perspective for ps

I want to make a 3d word in perspective view. So that the closest point to the user is large and gets smaller.
I tried a couple of tutorials from Google search but cannot get pass the text transform part because all the buttons are greyed out and I can't select anything.

Are you hoping to use the CS5 3D features, or use faked 3D (ala Transform> Perspective)? To use faked 3D on a type layer, try Layer> Type> Convert to Shape. Then Edit> Transform Path> Perspective. Now grab one the left side corner control points and drag the box taller.
If you want CS5 3D text tutorials, try http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/3d/3d-logo-photoshop/ for a very comprehensive look or http://av.adobe.com/russellbrown/Basic3DTextShadow_SM.mov for Russell Brown's text centric tutorial.

  • Upload picture from database, transform picture in FLash

    Hi, all.
I just want to do a test: I made an swf file that is to be
embedded in an html web page. Inside swf I want a picture to be
upload from database ( for customized purpose ), say ASP, or XML.
And new picture will replace that old one inside swf. Further more,
e.g. I upload just a picture that is a piece of tile. When it
appears in swf, it should be tiled 5 by 5 and transformed for
perspective. Is that possible with AS? if yes, could anyone offer
help? And how to write interface code -- ASP or xml communicates
with FLASH, to upload picture from database? Thanks.
    -percy

probably but i'm not sure what you're trying to do. you can
certainly tile the uploaded and then loaded image into a 5x5 grid.
    this is easy.
and you can distort that grid in various ways including ways
that make it appear the 5x5 flat sheet is rotating in three
dimensions. this is not so easy but can be done using someone
    else's code.

  • Transform tool working

My Transform tool doesnt work completely. Its very un predictable when attempting to use CNTRL + SHIFT, I dont get an opportunity to move/ transform the corner I'm clicking on. I click then start the drag, hold down the CNTRL key and nothing different happens. It will occasionally work if i scroll with my mouse but thats very rare. Im trying to add perspective with out having to place it into the perspective grid and i dont want to have to take it to photoshop transform the perspective and then live trace it to get the desired result when i know i can do the same thing using the transform tool in illustrator.

    Bugge,
I did just that and i got no result. I clickDrag, then hold Ctrl and for some reason it doesn't allow me to "grab" the corner. Then if I hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt, the ClickDrag on the corner I get the opportunity to get a Perspective Transformation. But I cant seem to ever isolate one corner and manipulate it accordingly.

  • Transforming Layers and Paths at the same time

    Hi
Does anyone know how I can transform(scale, perspective, distort, etc.) a layer and a path at the same time?
    Thanks

    1. Draw your path
    2. Make it a vector mask linked to the layer you want to transform (Make layer active, then Layer>Vector Mask>Current Path)
    3. Hide the path (command-H)
    4. Command-T
    5. Command-H again to make the path (vector mask) visible
    6. Do your transform

  • How to attach jpeg photo images to AI artwork

How can I transform the perspective of a jpeg photo image and view the results in AI?  Also, how can I attach this image over another AI vector artwork?  Do I have to convert this rastor jpeg photo image to a vector image before I can do this?

How can I transform the perspective of a jpeg photo image and view the results in AI?
Use Object>Envelope Distort to transform a JPEG or any other image. Once the image is in a distortion mesh it can be distorted using the "Free Transform" tool or you can edit the mesh envelope by altering the mesh points directly, giving you endless control of the distortion.
Alternatively, you could use "Effect>3D>Rotate" to put a bitmap image into perspective.
Also, how can I attach this image over another AI vector artwork?
Not sure what you mean by "attach". You can group the transformed image with other objects. Or, if you find it helpful, you can expand the appearance to perminently distort the image.

  • Photoshop 7 shape problem

    Hello,
I'm learning Photoshop with a copy of Photoshop 7.0.
I apologise for what may seem a simple question.
I'm trying to create a rectangle (with a horizontal orientation) with the corners slightly rounded but with the shorter left and right sides at an angle of about 80 degrees, that is, splayed slighty outwards like the bottom half of a pyramid.
Would anyone know how to accomplish this while retaining the slightly curved corners?
    Thanking you,
    Alanodale.

If this looks like what you want ( pictured below),
then draw your rounded rectangle and choose:
    Edit>Transform Path>Perspective.
Then pull out one of the bottom corner handles to
    the right or left.

  • Photoshop or Illustrator to create bumps like a cupcake would have?

Which is better to use? Photoshop or Illustrator to make the bumpy lines a "flat" (ex. think of the shadow of a cupcake maybe) cupcake icing at the top would have? Like this except more professional looking (made this in a couple minutes):
And how would I make it?

I prefer Photoshop, because a) I am shite with Illustrator, and b) IMO a thing like this is all about shadows and highlights, with pretty much no lines at all.  So my version started with a number of vertical black lines, which I copied and inverted.  That gave me the case flutes, so I Free Transformed using Perspective to taper the two layers.
The wavy lines are something I could not have done so easily even a week ago, as they were very easily produced using the new Distortion effect in Lazy Nezumi.  That tool is the best $20 add on for Photoshop by miles.  I just laid an arbitrary sine wave across the page, and used FT to match the pitch to the case, and Warp > Curve to make the curve.  The lines were used to mask the case to, and then turned off.
The pink top started with a flat ellipse filled with pink.  That layer was copied three times and spaced out using the Move > Align tools.  Then FT to make the perspective.
OK, it did get just a tiny bit tricky here, but only because you need a lot of layers, and need to keep track of them.  I made a selection of all four layers combined, and used that to add a layer mask to all the topping layers.
Each pink oval has two versions - one sharp, the other blurred, so I could have a soft transition between the layers.
The hard versions also have drop shadows, which are there to give the shadows between the pink layers.  I had to rasterize all those drop shadows with Create Layer, so I could mask out the over flow, but the afore mention layer mask took care of most of that.
It would be nice if I could have used Layer styles for the highlights, but that would have been tricky because of the curves, so I ran a straight white line which I FT'd to shape and then blurred.
The cherry is all layer styles.
Hundreds & Thousands used brush dynamics. 100% scatter jitter.  100% Hue jitter.  Fully hard brush.  The the smallest drop shadow I could manage to make them look real.
There is an upside down drop shadow on the case layer, to make the pink top look like it is overflowing the case, and a tiny Bevel & Emboss because it looked better.
Two shadows beneath the case, one hard and small, and one big and soft.  That is the minimum I'd do for shadows.
About an hours work, but if I wasn't doing that, I'd be practicing some other way, and if we didn't enjoy the process, we wouldn't be here.

  • Warp Tool Arch not consistent

I'm distorting some bottle labels to fit bottle shots that were taken at a different camera angle. I'm running into a problem that I think has existed since the warp tool was introduced, and I've never found a solution.
When I apply the warp tool and choose arch, the top of the distortion is perfect and my label has a beautiful curve on it that matches the angle of my bottles. However as I look down the label, the distortion becomes more of a 'moustache' shape where only the centre arches, and the edges are not following the distortion properly.
Why does this happen and what can I do make the bottom of the label follow the same curve and distortion as the top?
    Thanks for any help!

You also stated that the arch at the top was different from the one on the bottom. My solid red rectangle show other wise. You could dupe it and see top fits bottom.   You stated toe were doing it for different camera angles so you may hat done ther transforms  for perspective.  Your not working on a 3d object surface texture to distorting a 2D image.  If your label was a squared up rectangle vertical and horizontal the distortion should be uniform. This Gif might show you it too.  If you have extended try adding a 3D bottle and adding it your label as a surface texture,

  • Using "Image/Transform/Perspective" on a layer?

    Hi,
I'm new at this.  I have a shot of a big room with empty art frames on the walls.  I have rectangular layers that are shots of paintings that I want to drop into the frames, but of course the paintings layers have to be skewed to show the perspective angle (trapezoid) that matches the room.  Problem is, it seems that I can only use Image/transform/perspective on the painting files before they become layers.  This means guessing the perspective, then moving them into the background, which is trial&error at best.  It's very hard to guess the appropriate perspective when the file isn't a layer. It seems that once the painting files become layers, the "perspective" option is no longer available.  I can use "skew," or "free transform," but not "perspective."    "Skew" doesn't work, because while it will allow changing the rectangle into a paralellogram, it won't allow me to change the rectangle into a trapezoid. "Free Transform" doesn't work for the same reason.  So, How do you apply the "perspective" function to a layer?
If I knew how to change the rectangle by grabbing one of a selection's corner anchor boxes and fixing it place, that would help because I could create my own trapezoid, but I don't know how to do that.  Does anyone?
    Thanks!

I've no idea why all the transform options aren't available; they are here.
    Anyway, try this:
Drag or copy/paste the painting in. It will come in as a new layer.
Convert that layer to a smart object (Layer > Smart Object > Convert..). Reduce the smart object opacity to 50%.
Choose Transform > Distort and move the corners individually into place.
When you're happy, set opacity back to 100% and rasterize the smart object.
The beauty of the smart object in this case is that you can transform repeatedly without any additional quality loss; it will be rendered only once when you rasterize.

  • Perspective transformation

perspective transformation is still not working well:
when applying an vertical or horizontal correction the image slides out of the frame, leaving an gray border at the other side.
with scaling you can get the content back, but you loose resolution
please add a "move slider" (best for LR3-compability)
    Stefan

the program knows the borders of the picture and could keep all 4 in the frame.
with PTlens it is able to do this manually by moving the tilted picture
in LR you need unwanted scaling.

  • Transforming perspective of smart objects

I am trying to bring a poster that I've made in Illustrator into a photoshop image(a storefront).
I am pasting the .ai file as a smart object so that in the future, I can swap in other posters that are made in AI. I also will need to distort the perspective of the posters. The problem I'm having is that when I place an .ai file as a smart object, my only transform options are scale, rotate, skew and warp. Ideally I'd be able to use distort, which isn't available. As a last resort I could use warp.
However, when I use warp on a smart object and then go to edit contents, the layer opens as a .psb file rather than opening in Illustrator. Is there any solution for this?

What about rasterizing your poster in it's actual size in the photoshop parent doc. Then save it as a smart object. Then apply a Warp to the smart object.
Then when you have an alternate poster to place just open the smart object and place the new poster (rasterized) into the same .psb file as a new layer and update.
Then it will take on the existing Warp of your previously placed poster.
The only additional step for you would be the rasterizing of the illustrator art.

  • Perspective Transform in Javascript

    Hej everyone,
I'm working on a script, which should do an automatic perspective correction. Unfortunately the only way I found out until now is some code, generated with the ScriptListener Plugin - and I am having a hard time figuring out what the values / maths are doing. For better understanding what I'm trying to achieve, here is an image:
The yellow colored area is the original image. Green is the image I'm trying to get. I need to do an perspective correction on the top anchor points. Doing it manually it works fine. However, when I look at the script, the scriptListener is generating, I don't have any clue what the values in there are meaning. Perhaps there is some kind of math I don't get. I can't get any match regarding the values by doing it manually, and the ones the listener writes.
Anyone an idea? Is there anywhere an angle or distance of how the anchor points are being moved?

I know of this thread. but it didn't gave me any insight.
To make it a little bit easier:
Yellow: Box with 100x100 px dimensions. Doing a perspective transform (manually and listening with scriptListener) of 45°.Top Right Handle. The only values that have changed are die width (from 100% to 300%) and the angle (45°).
Now, this is what the listener gets:
