Problem pasting russian text

Hello all-
I sent some English InDesign source files to a translation company for a document, and received back translated Russian InDesign source files. After sending a pdf to the client for review, I received back a marked up pdf, with some requested changes to some Russian text included in the redlined pdf.
When I copy the russian text in the Acrobat pdf (contained in a Highlight box) and paste it into my Indesign Russian source file, the characters change. Sometimes the word will paste into a text frame correctly, with overrides. When I clear the overrides to apply to paragraph style I need, the characters change to something different.
Has anyone come across this kind of problem? The client reviewer inserts text changes using standard Acrobat markup features, but this text isn't pasting into InDesign correctly. (Happens in both CS4 and CS6)
I would appreciate any thoughts on this!! Thanks in advance...

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro,
and have both CS4 and CS6 available, same issue on both computers (XP). I
have attached an example, a page from the PDF that I received from the
client with a Russian word change. The new word will paste in ID with Basic
paragraph style applied, but when I change the style to one of my own
styles the characters change. I discovered that some of my other paragraph
styles do not change the characters, just some of them. Maybe a setting in
my styles is different? Maybe this helps.

Scrubbing on iPad. Improvements ideas of russian localization

Hi, i'm a russian user of iPad.
When i'm watching video, or listen to music, small hint appears, when i grab a playhead with finger:
+Скорость скраббинга: высокая+
+Отрегулируйте скорость скраббинга пальцем.+
The english version is:
+High speed scrubbing+
+Slide your finger down to adjust the scrubbing rate+
English version is good enough to understand.
But, with russian version, i see usability problems:
1. There is no word "скраббинг" in Russian language. No one can understand it. I've never understood this, until i've accidentally slided my finger down.
2. Nothing hints, how to adjust scrubbing speed. When i translate russian version back to english, it will sound like so: "Adjust the scrubbing speed with fingers". Of course, the question is "How ?".
Solution ideas:
Instead of "скраббинг", to use a word "перемотка". This word is widely known in Russia.
So, the final hint may sound like this:
+Скорость перемотки: высокая+
+Потяните пальцем вниз, чтобы её уменьшить.+
Also, some visual hint can be displayed, like arrows, pointing down.

Translation Manager Business Object XIr3, problem

Hi,
I have a problem with the Translation Manager Business Object XIr3.
If I understood well, it permits multilanguage users to see for example reports with their own language, setting up the preferencies, logging in InfoView.
Now I have installed it and I choosed two languages: English(UK) and Russian.
The problem is explained better in the following table:

If i change HS_LANGUAGE parameter to UTF16, i can import them in nvarchar2 properly, but it's not what i need.

Not sure if that hack will work:
set in the odbc.ini within the Postgres DSN:
ConnSettings
=SET CLIENT_ENCODING to 'ASCII'
Maybe it will then maps youe Unicode Postgres during connection handshake to 8bit characters.
But that's really just a hack without any guarantee that it will work because your Postgres database is using UTF-8 encoding and your Oracle database is using CL8 character set. So You can't import them into varchar2. This will only work with a Unicode Oracle database character set, else it needs to map the PostgreSQL columns to a nvarchar.

Pacman to show all the files inside a package that is not installed

Can pacman list out all the files that any packages provides without having that package installed? I learned that pacman -Ql linux does this but the linux packages is installed on my system. Thanks!

I am trying to use it but it doesn't work right with my options. I want to find any package that gives a directory called "russian" but it isn't finding one I know does called "festvox-ru" as I show you:

Russian Translations problem with Translation Tool Package

Hello Everybody.
I'm doing some translations and whenever I try to paste a Russian text into one of the messages in TTP, the app transforms the Russian characters into question marks. For example:
Предупреждение: Контактное лицо X не имеет связи с Бизнес-Партнером Y. Но Активность будет сохранена.
TTP Transforms it into:
??????????????: ?????????? ???? X ?? ????? ????? ? ??????-????????? Y. ?? ?????????? ????? ?????????.
Did anyone come across with this problem?

It looks like Translation Tool Package does not support russian character set and that's why it is displaying as '?' which means character is not recognized by the application.
Are you able to type the russian text in a note pad?? If you can type and text is proper, Operarting System is able to recognize russian characters, and not the TTP.
If it displays '?' in the notepad also, it means OS is not able to identify the Russian character set. In this case, you need to install the russian character set in the machine.
Can you please provide which CRM mobile release you are currently using. In case if you are using CRM 5.0 or above, you can translate the texts using Mobile Application Studio itself.

Bug report: Russian Translation Messages

There are several incorrectly translated messages. Better translation is below. English original is back-translated, so could be not exact in all cases. Russian text should be replaced.
Mail - Setup - View/Actions (Почта - настройки - отображение и действия) - "удалить подтверждение сообщения" (remove message confirmation) should be "подтверждение удаления сообщения" (confirm message removal)
Blackberry World Setup / General(Общие настройки) - 'Cохранить на карту памяти' (save once to SD card) should be 'Cохранять на карту памяти' (usually save to SD card)
Blackberry World Payment methods - 'Методы оплаты' should be 'Способы оплаты'
Clipboard Select / Select all should be 'Выделить' / 'Выделить все' (as select/highlight), not 'Выбрать' / 'Выбрать все' (as 'choose') phone-wide
SMS is translated as 'Текстовые сообщения' (Text Messages) in Russian. Untranslated 'SMS' or at least 'Сообщения' (messages) is much more common for Russia.
A message after doing a software update check is not correct: 'В настоящее время установлена самая последняя версия ПО' (Latest software version is currently installed) - should be 'В настоящее время установлена последняя доступная версия ПО' (Latest available software version is currently installed)
"Ожидание подключения для передачи данных" message (Waiting for data connection) during set-up doesn't fit the screen, should be wrapped or cut.
"Новый часовой пояс <...> время отправлено" (New timezone... time sent) notification during the initial set-up should be 'время установлено' (time set).

Urgent: want function module to translate text into russian language

Hello All,
My requirement is that, field is fetched from std. table. This fiels of data type string, i.e., it contains text. I want to translate this text into russian language before displaying this in output. For otr text, i used se63 to translate. But, this text is not otr, it is dynamically fetched from diff. std. tables. So, se63 is not working here.
Please help me as its very urgent.

I don't know if there's an unique solution, you should try to open an OSS message
All tables with description should have the language (usually field SPRAS) as key fields
so u can try to read a record and create a new one but with the new language:
select * from makt where spras = 'ZH'.
   makt-spras = 'E'.
   makt-maktx = ......
   insert makt.
endselect.
But it's better to analize the risk
