Transparent Button Link to URL not working when I publish

I am using mulitple tranparent buttons (over text) as a link to open a URL file in a seperate window on our company intranet. I created this file 6 months ago and it always works fine. Today, I needed to update the file and add another transparent button to link to a new url. When I preview the file, everything works fine and a browser window will open showing the correct web page but when I publish the file, nothing happens. None of the links work.
I have updated this file in the past and I have never had a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions. This should be a two minute update for me but has turned into a big problem.

Hi Jeff
What you might consider doing is to declare a common output folder. Then flag that folder as safe. Normally that's a one off and it just holds. But you do have the option of clearing the list of "safe" folders. Perhaps something clobbered that at some point.
Additionally, once you copy the content to a web server and view it in the browser using a URL, you shouldn't have any concerns. The link should work for all users.

Link to URL not working in RH X5

Good morning,
A client asked me to include a hyperlink to an internal site of theirs. After I gave them the WebHelp, they said the link doesn't work (I can't test it here as I work offsite without access to their intranet). They said there is a space missing which would account for it not working. The problem is I copied and pasted the URL into the project from the client's email. Here is the URL copied from the client's email to me - you can see the 2 spaces between ACH and Forms. :

When I right-click on the link in my topic and check the link properties and when I look at the code on the True Code tab, I can see the 2 spaces (not the code for the spaces, of course, but you can tell there is an extra space) so assumed all was well. Yet on the client's end there is only a single space. And if I copy the link from the True Code tab in RH and past it here, for example, or into an email, it comes out like this:

The double space has been replaced with a single space. I can't explain how or why that would be changed after I put in the hyperlink. Is there something about HTML or RH in particular that doesn't allow double spaces so removes one?

Have you tried %20%20 in the code rather than spaces?
Just a guess.

Links to images not working when saving to JAR

Hi
Okay Ive created a Java GUI app with Eclipse and it all works fine until I try to save it to JAR.
Basically the images don't load.
grassIcon = new ImageIcon("images/grass.jpg");
antIcon = new ImageIcon("images/ant.jpg");
lionIcon = new ImageIcon("images/lion.jpg");
is what I am using so the images are in a folder named "images".
I've checked the JAR file and it does contain the folder with the images and it looks like everything else is running.

Captivate 5.5 project -links are not working when i publish to the IE server

I was wondering if someone had a solution to my Captivate 5.5 project with external links.
Here is my problem:
I have a page that has an external link that opens another window.
For some reason the window will open in preview. However, when I publish to the IE browser it does not work.
Does someone have a solution to this problem? I saw some verbiage that stated adjusting something swf file. I don't quite understand were to change this file. Is it in Captivate?
Any information you have is greatly appreciated.

Google for information about Flash Global Security.
It looks like you need to trust the publish folder location as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.

Hotspot links on graphics not working when you Zoom.

Just noticed something.
When I have a graphic, jpeg or a .gif, and create hotspot for links out to other website, they don't work when the viewer zooms his browser.
Is this normal? is there anything I can do about it.
It was not an issue until super large screen have been coming out and people are going to start zooming within Safari etc...thanks.

Murray makes a good point about "how small" the number is anymore. (see attached) Mac is still a minority of the PC market, but in the last five years, they have more than doubled their share, and with iTunes, and now Safari running on Windows, the number of "what appears to be" Mac users is climbing as well.
Case in point. My dad. He's 72, and only started using Windows about six years ago. There's no way he'll ever buy a Mac. He's got enough on his plate just trying to learn XP at this stage. But... he used to listen to jazz on Radio@AOL. I showed him iTunes, and the radio it has. AOL offers one station, or at least dad could only find one. iTunes radio has more than 100, and several different types of jazz. So he's a Mac product user now, even though he's on a PC.
Same with Safari. I got him to switch to Firefox a few years back, but I also put Safari 4 on his new machine earlier this year and I showed him how it works. He likes the panoramic top sites view, because he can choose his favorite news sites from there by looking at the page in the preview. Now he's adding to the stats for Safari users... again without a Mac.
You're right about losing even one customer to a perceived faulty site design, even if it's their browser that makes it look that way. The notion is "Hey, if I can't even get into his site, how can I be sure he knows what he's doing as a photographer?" Then even if they do get a hold of you, and hire you they may be skeptical of your work. I've been there. It cost me a few hundred bucks. I can't afford that again.

Some page links not working when I publish iweb site to desktop folder?

I just created a photo website using iweb. All the links to pages, etc. work fine in the programme but when I go to publish it to folder to check it on a web page some of the page links don't work?

Even though you have deactivated the iWeb navigation menu, the navigation layer still exists and is blocking your custom links. Open the Inspector Page tab and try changing the value for Header Height to zero. See if this does anything for you. If not, then try increasing the Header Height value incrementally. This pushes the navigation layer down your page and maybe out of the way of your custom links.
Of course, there is also the question of whether you custom links are placed on the page as a header element or as a regular page element. You can put elements into the header or footer layers by holding down the Apple key while dragging the elements until you see the header/footer outline highlight in blue.
If your custom links are header elements, then increasing the header height to push the navigation layer down will probably help. If your custom links are page elements, then decreasing the header height to zero might be more likely to help.

HTTPPOST is not working when i publish to azure

but when i am trying to add something its not working.

What is error message? I suggest you could try this solution:
Please make sure that the Microsoft.SqlServer.Types is referenced and marked as Copy Local = true AND you have to bring over into your BIN directory the dependency for the file which is sqlserverspatial.dll .
And if it doesn't work, please share the error message for further support.

Links in PDF not working when viewed in browser

Whenever I view an interactive PDF in a Firefox window the links in the PDF don't work. They work in other browsers like Chrome and Safari, but in Firefox they are as dead as normal text.
It also says: "This PDF document contains forms (even though it doesn't). The filling of form fields is not supported."
Why is Firefox's PDF viewing and editing capabilities so poor when all the other browsers have not trouble with it?

hello, the pdf viewer is still somewhat experimental and under very active development - you could try if the same error is occurring in the current development version, which you can download as an addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi
in case it has the the same rendering problems, you could then file a bug report at https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues (a github account is necessary for it though) - please also provide a sample document where the error is apparent!

Absolute URLs not working when file is on a remote server.

My client has asked me to provide a template for an investor relations section of their website. The HTML page or template for this page will be at the service providers site, but all the images etc. for the page will be linked to files on my clients server. Everything looks fine, but the absolute URL's in the .swf file back to my clients site aren't working.
This is what the service provider's guidlines say, but I'm not sure where the code is supposed to go:

the easiest way to deal with security issues is to avoid them. if all files are on the same server, use relative urls.
otherwise, you may have to deal with security issues. whether you do or not, and if you do, how you deal with them, depends on what you're trying to do.
you may be able to use System properties but you may need cross-domain security files.

Buttons not working when I publish my HTML 5 project and play in LMS

When creating an HTML 5 project in Captivate 8, my project plays fine when i preview in web browser, but when i upload to my LMS the project won't autoplay and the buttons don't work. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to fix it?

I can partially answer my own question (if anyone is having the same issue): I disabled the sound click on the buttons and also deselected "Hide Selection rectangle for slide items in HTML5." I'm not sure which provided the fix (or if it is a combination of both) but the buttons now function the way I want (Note: this is a responsive project).
I still can't get the course to auto play. I wonder if that is an LMS thing because it autoplays when I preview the project in browser...

"Log In" button in Safari is not working when trying to log in to network

The work around is to leave iWeb default nav bar and header enabled, add your home made nav bar (outside/below of iWeb default nav bar).
Then turn off iWeb nav bar and header when you are done.

Javascript is not working in the published file

I using the javascript in the captivate 5.5 to generate the text from variable in the textbox. It is working when I press the F12 button, But it is not working in the Published file.
I called the function in the button and I written the script in the slide.
