Transport costs in COPA

Hello,
We are trying to assign transport costs to copa, we execute VI01 transaction and we do account assignment. It appears account assignment fully completed but when we display the profitability segment there are some of the value fields that are empty. We have checked that when we register vendor billing documents it works correctly and all the fields have their corresponding value.
Maybe we have to customize something for transport costs?
Thank you very much
Beatriz

Hi,
If you want to study COPA Infirmation refer this may be you will get idea
Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
Purpose
Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) enables you to evaluate market segments, which can be classified according to products, customers, orders or any combination of these, or strategic business units, such as sales organizations or business areas, with respect to your company's profit or contribution margin.
The aim of the system is to provide your sales, marketing, product management and corporate planning departments with information to support internal accounting and decision-making.
Two forms of Profitability Analysis are supported: costing-based and account-based.
Costing-based Profitability Analysis is the form of profitability analysis that groups costs and revenues according to value fields and costing-based valuation approaches, both of which you can define yourself. It guarantees you access at all times to a complete, short-term profitability report.
Account-based Profitability Analysis is a form of profitability analysis organized in accounts and using an account-based valuation approach. The distinguishing characteristic of this form is its use of cost and revenue elements. It provides you with a profitability report that is permanently reconciled with financial accounting.
You can also use both of these types of CO-PA simultaneously.
Integration
Profitability Analysis, alongside Profit Center Accounting (EC-PCA), is one of the application components for profitability accounting.
Features
In the application component CO-PA, you can define your master data, the basic structures of this form of profitability analysis. This includes both units you want to evaluate (characteristics) and the categories in which you analyze values. In costing-based CO-PA, you define "value fields" in which to store your data for analysis. In account-based CO-PA, the values are structured by account.
Using the SAP master data (customer, product, customer hierarchy) or CO-PA derivation rules, the system can derive additional characteristics based on the ones entered manually or transferred from primary transactions. The combination of characteristic values forms a multidimensional profitability segment, for which you can analyze profitability by comparing its costs and revenues.
If you reorganize parts of your company, such as your sales districts or customer hierarchies, you can change the assignments between characteristics for data that has already been posted.
The actual postings represent the most important source of information in CO-PA. You can transfer both sales orders and billing documents from the Sales and Distribution (SD) application component to CO-PA in realtime. In addition, an interface program is available to let you transfer external data to the R/3 System. You can also transfer costs from cost centers, orders and projects, as well as costs and revenues from direct postings (G/L account postings in FI, orders received in MM, and so on) or settle costs from CO to profitability segments.
In costing-based CO-PA, you can valuate incoming sales orders or billing documents to automatically determine anticipated sales deductions or costs. You can also revaluate your data periodically to adjust the initial, realtime valuation or add the actual costs of goods manufactured.
In CO-PA Planning, you can create a sales and profit plan. Whereas both types of Profitability Analysis can receive actual data in parallel, there is no common source of planning data. Consequently, you always plan either in accounts (account-based CO-PA) or in value fields (costing-based CO-PA). In costing-based CO-PA you can use automatic valuation to calculate planned revenues, sales deductions and costs of goods manufactured based on the planned sales quantity.
The manual planning function lets you define planning screens for your organization. With this you can display reference data in planning, calculate formulas, create forecasts, and more. Planning can be performed at any degree of detail. For example, you can plan at a higher level, and have this data distributed top-down automatically.
In automatic planning, you can copy and revaluate actual or planning data for a large number of profitability segments at once. You can also transfer planned sales quantities from (costing-based) CO-PA to Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) for the purpose of creating a production plan there.
The Information System lets you interactively analyze existing data from a profitability standpoint using the functions of the drilldown reporting tool. There you can navigate through a multidimensional "data cube" using a number of different functions (such as drilldown or switching hierarchies). The system displays data in either value fields or accounts, depending on the currently active type of Profitability Analysis and the type to which the report structure is assigned. (Each report structure is assigned to either costing-based or account-based CO-PA.)
You can change the display parameters online directly from the displayed report. You can store report structures with predefined sort orders, number formats and so on, and execute these online or in the background at any time.
Hope this helps you
Prem.

  • Transportation Cost to be flown to CO-PA

    Hi,
We have developed Zreport for Transportation Cost. In that we are arriving at Trip Cost by calculating total cost divided by total litres. Client needs the same cost to be flown to CO-PA. Is there any work around & User Exit available.

    Hi Varsha
You need to develop your upload program using BAPI_COPAACTUALS_POSTCOSTDATA (or similar to this, you can search in SE37).. This program can post to COPA using whatever logic you have

  • How the Trading Goods mapped in to Product costing and COPA in Controlling

    Dear Experts,
I have a trading goods scenario in my client. How the mapping into Product Costing and COPA.
They just purchase FG products from Vendors and Sell to their Customers, they received FG Products to Main Plant from Vendors and then sends to Branches from Main Plant, In between some expenses accured like Transport, Fright etc. this is my scenario.
How the settings to be made in Product costing and COPA.
I am waiting for your favorable reply.
    Thanks,
    KBR.

    Hi Bhaskar
I believe branches are also created as Plants
    You have 2 choices....
Choice 1: If the Freight amount is known @ the time of Transfer from Main plant to Branches, include the same in STO so that inventory value in Branch = Purchase Value + Freight amount
CHoice 2: If thats not possible, then inventory value in Branch will be same as the Main plant... The expenses incurred on freight needs to be posted to a cost center... Then allocate them @ month end based on revenue / Quantity sold etc using KEU5
Whichever choice you make, Product Costing is not relevant and required as well... You dont need to do any CK11N
If you want to see in COPA Purchase value separate and the Freight, etc separate - Then choice 2 is the route for you

  • Excise duty costs in COPA

    Hi,
We are implementing COPA in an up and running application. As you are aware two accounting documents are posted during billing process. First document posts revenue and cost based on the sales order conditions to PA. There is another document is posted in CIN dispatches from a manufacturing scenario.
    Request your help for
a)second FI document accounts for excise duty cost. How to take this to PA?
b)second PA document will get generated. In this document how do we suppress quantity information. As both PA documents have same billing document and there by billing type. This avoids duplication of quantity posting. This cannot be done in initalizing as billing type is same.
c)how is it handled i.e. whether any user exit is used for this purpose.
    Please respond.
    Cheers
    Yesh

    Hi Yeshwant
THere is a std way of doing it.... Tax conditions dont usually post to COPA because balance sheet accounts are assigned to COPA
However, if you are using Costing Based COPA, there is a way to do it
    1. You will be already having excise condition types in SD Pricing Procedure, say, EXCS
    2. Create a statistical condition type, say, ZEXD....
    3. ZEXD will have a condition record of 100% based on the EXCS
    4. Map ZEXD to a VF in KE4I....
When VF01 is done, the excise duty will also be posted to COPA...
I have myself done this and it works.... No need to post to COPA from the excise document...

  • Transportation cost before the reception of the material in MIGO (Stock in transit)

Does it exist a way to make a reception of materials in transit and post the transportation cost before the reception of the material in MIGO ?
The  material is own of company before to be receipt in plant.  We need to pay the transportation before that material is arrived at plant.
As the value is an important cost, we need that this cost be linked with the cost of the material.  We can put a condition, but it does not work if the material in not receipt in MIGO.  We can enter a subsequent debit memo, but the invoice of the reception should be enter in the system and by the way the reception too.  So how should we process to link the transportation cost with the material if this material is not received at plant and by the way in MIGO.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
As of my knowledge, system will allow to process the shipment document - create shipment cost document and vendor invoice also, even before doing GR for the PO. Please check the scenario and revert back if you are getting any error.
If you want the shipment cost as delivery cost, refer the note: 427944 - Info: Shipment costs as delivery costs during goods receipt

  • Shipment costs in COPA

    Hello,
We are trying to assign shipment costs to copa, we execute VI01

fully completed but when we display the profitability segment there are
some of the value fields that are empty.
The fields that are empty are "Material", "Distribution
channel" and "Division", and all of them are filled when the SD bill document is
registered. I don´t understand why the system does not take them to the
profitability segment because they are fixed value fields.
We have checked that when we register vendor billing documents it works

iis it just in OKB9 we need to put the GL account to Profitability segment
the GL account we use is 53000000  and from OKb9 based on plant it picks a Cost center  and From cost center we settle it to COPA
    Is thre a better way

  • Activating Account based Copa in the existing Cost-based COPA

    Hi Sap CO gurus!
Please advise me for the following issue.
Presently, My client using Cost-based COPA for segment wise reporting.( Already activated).
Now they wanted the reports in Account Based. Is it possible to activate the Account based now? Will the system allow us to activate or not?
If yes, What will be the implications? I want to know the pros and cons for that.
If not, How Can I edit the COPA settings( Operating concern)? Or shall I delete the Operating concern and create one new one?
Can you please explain the impact of each situation?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Rama

    Hi Joe
You can deactivate Account Based COPA, but you will have to do a thorough testing so that you are aware of the issues that can crop up
The IMG Menu is SPRO > Controlling > Prof Analysis
You will have to do a testing of how the open sales orders would behave... The open sales orders mean Sales Orders where PGI has been done, but billing is pending AS WELL AS Sales orders which are just created, but no Logistics movement (PGI) has taken place... You will have to do testing on both types of sales orders
      - When you do PGI after deactivating the account based COPA, you may face error. Because, COGS GL account is a cost element in Account based COPA, where as in Costing based COPA, it is usually not a Cost Element
      - Also do a billing from an open sales order and see if you get any error there...
Similar issue can arise during variance settlement also, because the variance account is not a cost ele in Costing Based COPA.
Test out the above scenarios and do share your experiences

  • How to raise PO for a material with transport cost but no material cost?

    Hi experts,
My client wants to raise a PO in SAP for a material that will be purchased free of cost.
He only wants to invoice the vendor for delivery/transport costs.
Now, as I see it, a free-of-cost PO is not possible because it does not allow adding any pricing conditions. May be I am not aware of some tweak that is available.
Please provide your help on this. Thank you.

    Hello,
Firstly Prepare a Po with a line item that you want, then chick the Free check box.
then go to the Item tab (below), go to conditions & add freight (Freight % or Freight (Value) ) with the required amount.
you can change the Assignment from the Vendor to a Transporter / Freight forwarder, that you want.
That is it. you will have a Po with no Commercial Value but just Transport Cost.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Invoice transport costs with multiple account assignment

    Hello Gurus,
    My problem is the following:
    1) I create two sales orders with the same forwarding agent "A"
    2) I create the two deliveries with the forwarding agent "A"
    3) I create a transport for those two deliveries and the same forwarding agent A
    4) I create the shipment cost for that transport.
So now we have the situation:
    2 orders --> 2 deliveries --> 1 transport --> 1 shipment cost
when i go to transaction MIRO and I enter the delivery note number I get one line item with the total transport cost.
If I click on the option "Multiple account assignment" I get a breakdown of all the amounts but I can not see which costs refers to which delivery.
My question is: Is there any way I can link the amount to the delivery number or at least to identify which cost is linked to which delivery number?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Miguel

gr non valuated is done in case ur procuring the material for direct consumption so at the time of gr no posting to accounts occur but at the time of invoice recipet the system debits the g/l account and crdits the vendor account
this multiple account ***. is also necessary to mark with gr non valuated and gr check box so that u can change the account assignment at the time of invoice and that acc. assg. should also be changebale in backend .

    Hi Lakshmipathi!
Thank you for your answer, but I´m still having some questions:
Where do I have to load  the USD 500 amount ? In the sales order?
I have to put several sales orders / deliveries into the transportation document, so I donu2019t know whatu2019s the amount for each sales order / delivery at the moment of creation of each document.
In addition, I have information of the transportation document that modifies the calculation of the expense of freight. At the moment I create the sales order, I do not have the cost of freight.
That´s why I have to calculate everything when I create the document with transaction VI01. In this moment, I have the whole information.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Transport cost

    Experts such Forum.
I have a query, select the transport cost function, but I have a problem in transmitting the transport cost purchase order(VI02). Since this standard created by an order with unknown type of complaint and use the service type of position and assigns the default document type shopping.
I wonder if there is the possibility of changing the type of position, type of complaint and modify the proposed order by default.
Look in the settings and I see no way to make these changes. I would appreciate if anyone knows how to do it, I could share it.
