Transport of Charasteristics & Class

Dear Gurus,
I have created Characteristics usting TCode CT04 & Class using TCode AL05.(Navigation path is , SAP menu-Logistics-Central Functions -Document Management System -Classification -Master Data)
But I am not able to transport to the same.Can you let me know How Can I transport these details?

Hi Damodar,
characteristics and classes use internal keys which are valid only in the system and client where they were created. So transporting characteristics and classes may create conflicts with these internal keys in the target, as the same internal key may already have been used there for a different characteristic or class. So I generally would not recommend to use transports here.
The intended way is to use distribution via ALE. The relevant message types are CHRMAS (characteristics), CLSMAS (classes) and CLFMAS (if you want to distribute classifications too). You may need to distribute additional objects like change numbers, if they are used. Distributions can be started manually with transaction BD91, BD92 and BD93 or automatically triggered by change pointers created during update processing of characteristics, classes (and classifications). Take care to distribute in sequence CHRMAS, CLSMAS (and CLSMAS). Don't forget to distribut additional objects if necessary.

How can I use ALE methodology to transport the release class, release characteristics and release characteristic value assignment from one client to another client ?

Step 1: Move Characteristics to the target system/client (ALE).
i). In the source system/client, execute transaction BD91
This generates one idoc (logical message type CHRMAS) for each characteristic.
ii). In the source system, check the status of the outbound idocs using transaction WE05, selecting message type CHRMAS.
All outbound idocs should be in status 03 (Data Passed to Port OK).
iii). * Only exception is when target system is D94 client 110. In this case the idocs go to status 30 (IDoc ready for dispatch) and an extra step is required to release the idocs to the target system. In this case, using transaction SE38, run report RSEOUT00 to release the idocs.
iv). Check that the idocs were received and posted in the target system:
Log on to the target system & execute transaction WE05, selecting logical message type CHRMAS.
v). If any idocs are in status 64, run transaction BD87 to re-process these to status 53.
Step 2: Move Classes to the target system/client (ALE).
In the source system/client, execute transaction BD92
This generates one outbound idoc (message type CLSMAS) for each Class.
Step 3: Check Config & classification data in target system/client

PR Release Strategy- transport of charact/class/ values using ALE

Does anyone have the information relative to ALE set up for release strategy-
I am using transactions BD91 for characteristics; BD 92 for Class and BD 93 for the actual values into release strategy.
I need the information as to what needs to be set up in Development client and receiving clients ( Q and Prod) for these transactions i.e., RFC destinations, define ports, Identify Message types & setup partner profile configurations etc

Transport of Message Class

Hi,
I have added a set of messages to a message class for different kinds of developments. So the messages are under different transport requests. I want to move the transports up in the landscape. Does the sequence of transports for the message class matter because I cannot move all the transports up in the landscape at this moment.

Hi Alam. To answer your question...... maybe. And the reason I say this is, it would be a problem if you had created the message class and put it on the one transport, then put other messages on other transports. Of course this would cause a problem. But if the message class was pre-existing and the transport only have messages tied to them, then there is absolutly no problem with sending them out of sequence, the skipped messages will simply be blank in the message class in the target system.

Transport for material-classes

Hi.
Does anybody knows a way to transport classes which are created on a development- or test-system (transaction cl01) into the production system?
We are working on a SAP ERP 4.7 and use a development, test and production system. To create a class and the concerning characteristics (characteristics stored in a database table) with the necessary tables and transport them into the production system I need some help.

I´m sorry for my unclear wording. I mean classes (cl01) and characteristics (ct04) for the classification of materials. I think that it is not easy to transport them into a productive system out of a development system because you can create the classes even on the productive system. Because of that the keys of the transported classes maybe is already in use ;-(
But maybe there is another way to transport (IDOC, ...) such classes.

hi M K,
try SE24, your class, and go to menu 'Go to' -> object directory entry,
click pencil icon and give your package name, will raise request.
SE10 to release and STMS from prod to import.

SE24 Global class transportation failed

Hi,
I have created one global class with two methods in it (Development server). When i checked the syntax errors in these methods there are no errors. But when i transported this global class to quality system, the transportaion failed and when i checked the syntax errors of these methods in quality system , it is giving one error saying that 'include report 'zcl_pricing============cl' not found.
this zcl_pricing is the global class created in development server.

are you sure that class and methods are in same transport? Check object entry.
If class and method are in same transport, go to quality system (SE24) and check if class is available. Maybe all you have to do is activate it in quality system.

Transport characteristics+classes of clasification system: release strategy

Hello,
Someone know how I can transport the characteristics+classes of classification system for the MM release strategy.
I think that the values must be assigned manual in each client but I do not have to recreate manually the characteristics+classes.

The OSS solution to transport the clasification is via ALE.
I will create a LSMW batch to load the clasification system.

The classification data need to be transported by ALE as described in
notes 86900 and 45951. The only other solution is to enter the data
manually.
You can obtain information about how to set-up ALE in the Online
Documentation CD (R/3 Library -> CA - Cross Aplication Components ->
Business Framework Architecture -> ALE Integration Technology ->
ALE Quick start).
However, if you can't set-up ALE, you can re-create the classification
data again in your target system.
For that you have to:
1. assign new values to the characteristic master data (trx. CT02)
2. assign the new data to the classification system (trx. CL30)
3. verify the consistency with trx. CL24. Please see note #186809.
For more information, please see note #365604.

"The transport of release procedure customizing data can only be done ina restricted manner. Please take a look at attached Note 86900 and
follow the procedure described in this note, in order to correctly
transport your release strategies.
Classification data can only be transported via ALE as per note 45951.
Note 45951 explains what class data for the release strategy will
be distributed from one system to another.
It does not describe how to implement as this involves a lot of
explanation and is truely a consulting issue. Customer may consider

Transport Class Messages from SE91

Hi gurus;
One question: For the IP we had created some messages assign to one class message em SE91 transaction. But now I don't know how can I transport it to the productive system.
Can any one help?

You can try this:
- Enter t-code SE03
- Choose 'Include Objects in a Transport Request'
- In 'Selections by type and name', choose radio button 'Selected Obejcts'.
- There, click on checkbox at empty line.
- In the first input field available (2nd of the column), enter MSAG if you want to transport a message class, or MESS if you want to transport a message class number
- In the input field at right, type your class name, or type your class name+message number concatenated (ex: if class is ZTSCPM and message number is 003, then type ZTSCPM003).
- Execute, and then hit 'In Request', and create the request.

Hi,
Please read note 131664 regarding the use transaction KE3I to transport operating concern structures.
In principle you can transport a new value field with a transport of an operating concern - part 'Structures: ABAP Repository objects' in transaction KE3I.
You need to perform the following steps:
1. Value field added in source system thro tcode KEA6
2. Regenerate the environment of operating concern in source system (tcode KEA0)
3. Transport using KE3I (select: ABAP repository objects)
4. Regenerate the environment of operating concern in target system.
Via transaction code KE3I you have the option to transport specific object classes. If you select 'Structures: ABAP Repository objects' the following settings are transported:
Cross-client objects in the SAP Repositiory
- Tables and structures of the operating concern (CE1xxxx - CE8xxxx)
- Domains and data elements for CO-PA characteristics
- Master data tables for CO-PA characteristics (without data)
Cross-client control tables
- CO-PA field catalog
- View directory
Normally we advise customer to add a new value field/characteristic to
DEV then transport to QAS and then transport to PRD. This ensures that
the operating concerns in the 3 systems are in sync.

Class Won't Activate But Methods Are Active

We have a problem in our production system where a new method has been transported to production but when trying to activate the class I get an error saying "Method <methodname> does not exist"
The confusing thing is that this method DOES exist but somehow somewhere there is some kind of reference missing.
The BSP application based on this class works fine. All the methods are active and get called, yet the class itself won't activate.
I have seen this problem once before in a report program and the solution was to re-write the report not using OO-ABAP.
However our current problem is this is a BSP appplication and we not only cannot do that but simply there is 2 years development in this.
Can anyone offer any suggestions ?

Hi David,
I don't know the reason for this bad situation.
Have you take a look in the protocol of the transport?
Is the transport finished without any errors?
Contains the transport the whole class or only a part of it? May be that transport was not complete.
So you could create a new transport that contains the whole class in the transaction SE80 and transport it again to the productive system.
When the problem still exits, you could open a call in the service market place.
Perhaps SAP will then take a look on your system and find the reason.

Transportation of release strategy

Hi guys,
We heard that in ECC 6.0, we can transport release strategy for PRs and POs along with characteristics and classes. I have the following doubts on this
1) Can we transport the values assigned in the strategies also with this functionality ?
2) From MM side can we configure the strategies in the normal way i.e. creating characteristics, creating classes, creating release groups, creating release indicators, configuring release strategies (or) we need to follow any other procedure for transporting the strategies
Any suggestions on this

I dont think this functionality exits of transporting the charcterisitcs & classes.
In ECC 6.0 also this functionality does not exist as per my knowledge.

Transport of ABAP Programs via File

I want to transport an ABAP-Program into my training-system at home (SneakPreview 2004s).
Because there is no connection between the systems, I search for a solution via filesystem.

Hello Armin,
The approach for downloading to a notepad maynot be very be useful The report will have includes,function modules etc... Also it will have screens which you cannot download on notepad!!
So do one thing. Include the report with all its components : includes,screens etc..in a transport request. Do it though SE80 transaction. Once done release the transport request. This will result in creation of data file and co file.
Now at OS level you can get these files and then you can copy them on CD/DVD. Put these files i the respective folders of your target system and import the transport.
If this is Z report and has a Z development class/message class I would suggest including it also in the transports. Development class/message class availability before the report import happens is a must. So include every thing in the transport and use data files and co-files.

IN SE24,if do a syntax check for the class
include report CL_EX_TEST======CO not found .But in devolopment system,i am not getting any error.

The previous answers are misleading because you obviously do not transport a standard class from DEV to QA system. Instead I assume you are using class CL_EX_TEST within your z-class.
Please check in table <b>PROGDIR </b>whether their is an entry for CL_EX_TEST======CO (protected section) on the QA system. I guess it is missing.
If so have a look at the DEV system how this entry looks like and add it to table PROGDIR on your QA system.
This is a common error (at least for me) with standard classes:

Why "Interface SQLData of class not found"?

Could anyone please help me?
I use JDK1.2.2 with Oracle 8.1.5.
I wanna try the example of SQLData Implementation here: http://technet.oracle.com/doc/oracle8i_816/java.816/a81354/samapp6.htm#1016717
But I just got the error message keeping saying that "Interface SQLData od class EmployeeObj() not found".
What's up with it?

It is possible that something went wrong when you imported the class into your TEST system.
The error message could imply that the corresponding record is missing from table TRDIR.
I would recommend to make a small change of the class in your DEV system (e.g. change description) and transport the entire class gain into the TEST system (context menu within SE80 -> create Transport Entry for entire class).
After the import you should go to SE24 and activate the class to see if everything is ok.
