Transporting variants to other systems

Hi
This is kind of a basis issue, I have a report transported to Quality ( and to production). Now i have to create a variant in Development server and transport it to Quality (as i do not have rights to create variants directly over there).
I understand that in case we have named the variants CUS&<variant> , it gets transported to other system along with the report.
Now the scene is , my report is already in production, and i have to supply the variants from development server.
Revert at the soonest.

Hi Alok,
You can create the varinat in the dev system & tie it to a Transport Request using the standard Program RSTRANSP.

Hi Jeff,
No Jeff there is no standard method of transporting variant from one system to another w/o using transport..
but you can do one thing..you can download variant properties for respective program from one system to a flat file and upload the same in to the system where you need to transport the variant.
For this you will have to write two program one for downloading variant and other in target system for uploading..
You will have to read variant attributes from following table
     1. VARID
     2. VARIS
     3. VARIT
     4. VARI
read this table with condition on you program id..

Generating transport for report to set it up on other system

hi friends,
how can i package a report i wrote with the corresponding ddic-tables that are needed in a convenient way so i can send it to somebody and it can be imported into their system and be executed easily ?

There are two ways to do this:
1. Create a transport request for the report, copy the same from the \usr\sap\trans directory into a cd and send it across.
2. Download the report (Utlities > More utilities > Upload/Download > Download) into a txt file, send that across. The developer on the other system will need to upload the file into a new report and save it. Note: All includes in the report will need to be downloaded separately.

Transporting Transport Request from One System to other

I want to create tranport request from ECC 5.0 System to ECC 6.0 system.

Hi,
You cannot transport request from ECC5.0 to ECC6.0.
Instead follow this:
<b>In ECC5.0</b>
Include all the objects into a transport request & provide the transport request no. to BASIS.
BASIS team will create 2 files for you based on the transport request no.
<b>in ECC6.0</b>
Provide the 2 files to BASIS Team & ask them to import them.
The objects would be available in ECC6.0

Release of a transport does not copy file to other system

Hi All
I am struck with an issue. When I release a transport request from my DEV server, The corresponding files donot get copied to the local transport directory of QAS system, resulting in the non listing in the import queue of the QAS system.
I have checked the mentioned
1. STMS configuration is all active and all nodes are attached to the domain controller (DEV) with all green buttons
2. Single global transport group is configured for all the systems
3. QAS server can access the global transport directory in DEV system
4. RFC connection to QAS server from DEV server is fine
5. RDDIMPDP is scheduled in 000 client of DEV system through DDIC using Report RDDNEWPP
6. RDDIMPDP is scheduled in 000 client of QAS system through DDIC using Report RDDNEWPP. However, in SM37, the schedule does not get displayed.
7. The /sapmnt/sap/trans directory of QAS system is writable
8. /usr/sap directories of DEV and QAS system is shared as saploc and sapmnt
Any ideas of what could be the error.

Hi,
All Systems belonging to the same transport group must share
the same DIR_TRANS. You need to setup diffrent Groups, if you like
to use a local transport directory.
WARNING: When using diffrent groups, but DIR_TRANS on these systems
points to the physical same directory, your transport files will get damaged
when trying to operate them !!! Read the documentation carefully to know
about the pitfalls of local transport directories.

Transport type when copying transports to other system

Hello,
probably a simple question. I have to transport couple transports from one system to another, there is no link between the systems.
I have created one (mass) transport which include objects of these transports, but I am not sure what type of the transport should I choose (transport of copies, relocations (it is not clear to me)), also I do not want to release the one big transport to Q systems transport queue. I just want it to create the cofiles to move to other system.
So question will be how to copy this one transport (via cofile, data file), or if it is possible to release transport without target system?

Hi,
Please ensure that STMS is configured in your system, since it is a stand alone system you can make it as a Domain Controller also. After that goto transaction se10 and check for the transaction which are in modifiable state. Then relese the transport starting from the inner request corresponding the transport request created by you.
Note that once you release this trasaction data files and cofiles are created in trans directory, and you have to manullay copy these files to the system in which you want to transport these files.
After that goto transaction stms_impot in the target system and add this transport request and import it. the data in the transport reuest will qutomatically gets imported the.

Problem in transporting Variants - "You cant transport client-specific obj"

When I tried to transport one of the variants (of a program) from DEV to QAS (quality system), it gave me an error that: "You cannot transport client-specific objects".

The program is Not a local object. I am trying to assign the variant to a transport via. SE38->variant->display->utilities->transport request-> request number.
Is there a way to modify this variant from client specific to "non-client-specific".
Also, please let me know hoe do we copy this variant into a new variant which is not client specific (i.e. a global variant).

How to transport variant deletion

Hi All,
I need to delete some variants from various systems like development box, SIT and UAT systems also.
I have deleted the variant from the dev. system but now when I try to put it in the transport request, I am getting the message that the variant does not exist.
I am unable to put the variant deletion in a transport request.
Please someone help me in deleting the variants from the SIT and UAT systems... How do I transport the variant deletion..?

Hi,
Try to re-create the variant in the Development system with the same name and put the object in a request. After this you can delete it in the development system. This way your deletion should get transported to other systems.
This may also depend on your configuration. You might have to delete the variants manually in each system.

it cannot be transported....you will have to create it into the different systems...but you can transport the table which contains the entry for these bex variants....
the table name is RSRVARIANT may be you can transport his table with entries

you can create a transport request in SE38 for the variants of a program. You could then use transaction SCC1 to copy those changes from one client to another.
To create transport:
1) Go to transaction SE38 and enter the program name.
2) Click the radio button next to the "Variants" subobject and click the "Change" button
3) On "ABAP: Variants" screen, select menu path "Utilities -> Transport request"
4) Enter the variant(s) you want to copy into the "Variant name" box.
5) Click the execute button and save the data to a new change request.
To copy to new client:
1) Log on to target client and goto transaction SCC1.
2) Enter the source client and change request number from above.
3) Click the execute button.
Please note that if you're doing this in a downstream system (i.e. not a development box) you may need to change the client settings temporarily to carry out the client to client copy in SCC1.

Transporting issue from Developement System to Quality System

Hello Experts,
We are facing a problem in which address details in developement system are getting displayed and when the same code is transported to the quality system then the address fields are not getting displayed.
While debugging we found out that there is a variable which is calling the view (responsible for displaying address fields) in the developement system but the same view is not called in the Quality System.
We tried all sorts of backtracking but could not find where the variable is getting the values from.
Kindly Guide.

I am transporting a process chain for deleting ODS change log from dev system to quality system. It is working fine in the dev system, but when transported to quality system, its process variants becomes empty for all the included ods change log delete steps. object_type and object_name field in variant becomes empty.

CTS+ : Error while importing transport into Portal QA system

Hi All,
we have configured CTS+ for Portal systesms, then we have created a
test transport in Portal Development system (PD5). SOlution manager is the communication systesm. We are also able to release this transport from transport organizer web UI.
This tranpsort is available in transport queue of Portal Qua system , but on importing this transport in PQ7 we are getting following
error
Problem during file access, stopping. Error is:'The file (/usr/sap/trans_SM/data/PD5K900003/Test_CTS_20110215_031956.epa) does
not exist on the filesystem.'.
We have checked in /usr/sap/trans_SM/data/PD5K900003/ file
Test_CTS_20110215_031956.epa exist.
CTSDEPLOY and sap.com/com.sap.tc.di.CTSserver connection are working fine.
Kindly suggest.

Error checking transport group configuration in System BQS

Hi Everyone,
I made a client export from Production to Quality. It went successfully,, I noted the requests numbers and transported them from PRD to Quality, but while transporting there was a tp error(which i did not note), next i went to the quality import queue and saw all the 3 requests had come. But when i click the adjust queue icon im getting the following error message "Error checking transport group configuration in System BQS" . Afterwards i tried to delete the requests from quality to retransport from production but still im not able to delete those requests from quality. Can anyone help me solve this.

regarding the error message:
"Error checking transport group configuration in system"
It's mostly related to the TMSADM RFC destination. Kindly follow the below mention steps:
1. Logon to client 000 with user DDIC.
2. STMS > System > Overview > Select the system in which you are logged in > Click on the menu says EXTRAS > Generate RFC Destinations
Perform the above steps in all the systems configure in your TMS. This should resolve the issue.

Problem during import of 121 transport requests to productive system

Hello
We have problem during import of transport requests to productive system. Import of 121 transport requests stopped very soon in phase "N" (in TRBAT I have only one entry and in TRJOB as well).
In sm50 there is an BGD running under user DDIC in client 000 now for 14453 seconds (program SAPLSDB2). This should be import.
In SM37 I can see it as job "RDDGEN0L" with repport"RDDGENBB". Based on some literature it should perform "Converting all structure changes generated by the import and recorded in table TBATG, other than the structure changes to matchcode objects." Very interesting that TBATG has only four entries related to 2 indexes in table "DFKKOPK" , one in table "DFKKREP06" and one" ENQU" for EFKKEXC". (only this last one has not status error)
For fist two indexes I know they are not present as objects "LIMU""INDX" in any transport request beeing imported.
Also on productive system there is no"VOL" and "ZOL"indexes for table "DFKKOPK"(instead they are created on test system ie. not transported from development to test system)
Last command for that process is "CREATE INDEX "DFKKOPK~HKO" ON "DFKKOPK" ("MANDT", "HKONT", "OPBEL") PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 002 TABLESPACE PSA

are you importing these transport requests simultaneously into production?
I would suggest you try doing in smaller groups of 5 or 10 and then see whether you are able to import the requests

Why do I have multi language versions in other system....

Hi All,
Could you let me know why do I have multi languages versions when I transported the form to other sandbox system.
Let me breif my probem. On development system I have one form and since we do not want other languages versions to come into picture so I deleted all of the languages versions and kept only original version which is 'DE' in which form was created. When i see the version logs it also shows me only 'DE' version since I deleted rest of other versions.
On development system form works fine since we want language 'DE' to be called for any language and inside the form it takes care for all the languages.
But when I transported it to other sandbox system form is not working fine since when transported it is now available in all the languages and when testing is done for this form in sandbox system it does not work since for example when testing is done using 'HU' language form gets called in 'HU' language and it is available on sandbox system and as a result form does not work since in 'HU' language form is not correct, and also when versions are seen on sandbox it shows the form active or translate in all the languages.
Is there anything that needs to be done while transporting the form...I only want that on sandbox system only version DE should be available..like the way it is in development system.
