  • Trex Issue - Search Results Mysteriously Disappearing

    Hello All-
    I have a strange issue with my TREX searching.  Here's what is happening - I run a search, the results come back saying there are x hits.  If I start paging through the results, I get about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way when suddenly the hits drops to some number less that x hits.  Where have the remainder of my hits gone?  I've checked out SAPNotes and SDN but haven't had any luck.  Has anyone seen this behavior before?  My guesses are that it is either hiding duplicates (and I'm missing some sort of switch) or some of the results are bogus (for instance, I have some documents that won't preprocess and perhaps these are coming up as bogus hits).
    I'm on EP6 SP 14/KM SP 14/TRex 14....

    Hi Jim,
    the number of search results is the total number that fits to your search term without any respect to the permissions.
    But the search results that are displayed on the result page are only those that you are allowed to see. As a consequence, you can only see new pages with search results as long as there are additional search results that you are allowed to see

    Hello gurus,
       I am going to be working on monitoring TREX (used primarily with e-recruiting). There is a TREX server installed up and running and I want to work on monitoring it and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. I wanted to ask you all to help me out with this. Do you have any recommendations on how to keep the TREX performance high and monitor it for any problems and troubleshoot the issues that may arise...
    Is there any guide for this and if there is one, please point me to the guide and also please let me know your suggestions and recommendations for monitoring the performance of the TREX. I basically am looking in the point of how to monitor the indexes.
    I am also getting an error "Index is temporarily not available. Index = ses: xx_xxxx_xx_xxx_ne error 2972 index state idle. I am seeing this error in index admin. In Index landscape, I am seeing a lot of corrupt indexes.
    Could anybody please help me fix this issue for the client?
    Any suggestions/recommendations?

       Our TREX is with E-recruiting and not the portal. I would like to know where is the place to monitor indexes if the trex is connected to the e-recruiting? If it is portal, we go to the system admin -> system config etc.... I do not know where is the trex index monitoriing if it is erec... Could you please let me know?
    Also, is there a way to turn on the master index server and turn off the slave index server?

  • TREX search in Talent Management not working

    Hi,
    How does userid role authorization effect how TREX's search function?
    I have a scenario where the search function works for one userid but doesn't work for another userid. These userids are tested by being tied to the same employee via PA30 infotype 0105 subtype 0001 (testing being done one userid at a time of course).
    Is this an authorization issue or a TREX issue?

    I've encounter the same problem - copied the ID (which works) into different name and granted exactly the same profile in both back-end and portal. Apart from that, we also granted SAP_ALL/NEW and Portal Super Admin but still not able to use the search functionality with message " No Relevant Records Were Found for This Search ". Looking foward for your reply.

  • Advanced talent search - trex

    Hello,
    we do have the following issue with the advanced talent search:
    The search result shows 17 lines, but only 3 lines contain a name and person number.
    The other 14 lines are empty.
    The three displayed persons do have a picture assigned (archive link).
    We suppose that persons without an assigned picture are just not displayed.
    So we don't now how to resolve this problem. We don't have modified the advanced talent search.

    Please see the document Common TREX issues which specifies:
    This issue occurs when Business Partner objects (object type BP) do not exist or are not synchronized for each Central Person object (object type CP).  See this blog on Business Partner objects in SAP HCM Talent Management.
    So basically run the synchronization report to create/sync missing BP objects and it should be resolved.

  • TREX Search issue

    I am using TREX search for equipemnt in R/3 itself. It is working fine in sand box environment but has some issue in quality server.
    It is not filtering data for one maintenance plant. For Ex. - When I give a keyworld and maintenance plant A as parameter it is working fine, giving me filtered results on maintenance plant. But when I give same keyworld and maintenance plant B as parameter it is giving me results from all plants including B also. In second case It should give result for only plant B.
    Can anybody give any idea where could be the problem?

    can you give us the exact syntax you´re using to add the filter parameter? Could the name of plant B contain any keyword that triggers another function / causes some confusion in the search request?

  • Trex "synonym search" and  taxonomy "search from here" issues

    Hi Trex experts
    I have two minor issues regarding Trex and Taxonomies
    <b>Taxonomy</b>
    I have created a Taxonomy and need to add the “search from here” function so it’s possible to create a more specific search from within one are of the taxonomy.
    When I add a layout set where this command is enabled then it’s not shown.
    I guess that it’s my repository manager for the Trex repository that I need to add a service to, but I can’t figure out which one, or is this feature not possible for taxonomies?

    Is it possible to define “synonym” search entries? Like I need to create a dependency on a bunch of terms, like when a user for example search for “vacation” then search for “holiday” should be included automatically in the search result as well. Is there some kind of configuration file where I can add a list of dependencies?

       Related to synomym you should read this material:

       Related to taxonomy, the answer is yes it is possible.
    If "search from here" botton is not shown, is due to you don't create an index (search option).

  • RFC issue with TREX CCMS monitoring

    Hello,
    I have a TREX 7.10 instance (running on a Windows Server) and a SAP Solution Manager System 7.01 (on Unix Server) which is used as central CCMS monitoring system.
    I have configured CCMS Monitoring for TREX according to the pdf document that is attached to SAP note 897226 ('Monitoring TREX with CCMS. Alerting seems to work, the autoreaction method that I defined for e.g. unavailabitlity of TREX processes is triggered when I test it.
    In SolMan system, transaction RZ21, agents for remote systems,  I see that the agent for the TREX instance is in status 'Online'.
    But when I highlight this agent and click on the button 'Test Connection' I get  'Error when opening an RFC connection'.
    In TA SM59 of SolMan system I am doing connection check for the two TCP/IP RFC destination related with that TREX instance
    N3STAT.<hostname>.<Nr>   and
    SAPCCMSR.<hostname>.<Nr>
    For both I get the error 'program <hostname>.n3stat.<Nr> not registered' respectively 'program <hostname>.sapccmsr.<Nr> not registered'
    I am a little bit confused how to fix this. Can somebody help ?

    In the meantime I could solve the issue.
    The solution is that the registration command on TREX host had wrong parameters.
    I only have a pure TREX instance, no ABAP instance, no Java instance on the same host.
    In this case you have to register your agent at central SolMan system this way:
    sapccmsr -R pf=
    Don´t use the -j2ee parameter if you don´t have a java instance there.

  • TREX for ISA 7.0 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.0 issues

    We have just finished upgrading our ERP dev system to EHP4.  We have also upgraded our Portal with SAP E-Commerce to Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 and  ISA 7.0.  Both systems were on Windows Server 2003 and have been moved to Server 2008R2 through a System copy.  TREX was installed on the same host as our Portal/ISA system.
    After the move I reinstalled TREX 7.1 v44 on the same host as our Portal and ISA 7.0 system which is Server 2008R2 with IIS 7.0.
    Everything on the TREX side is in status Green.  I have tested the rfc and http connections. On the ERP side, I have deleted the catalogs from SRMO and re-ran "ISA_CATALOG_REPLICATION" many times.
    B2B still will not connect and I have traced down an error on the TREX side that I am assuming is the cause:
    - When I kick off a catalog replication job from our R3 system I get these errors in the TrexIndexServerAlert_<host>.trc file:

    Hi Neil,
    We have exactly the same problem. We installed a new SAP E-Commerce system on Microsoft Windws 2008 R2 with TREX Version 7.10.43.00. The TREX connection is okay. Also the catalogue replication works without any problems. The SAP support means it is a permission problem on the IIS. The problem isnu2019t solved yet and the message to the SAP support is in process.
    What is your effect with this link?

    I tried to use other locations like /usr/sap/D82 as installation location, inthat case it tries to create link like

    My server has /sapnt/D82 and /usr/sap/D82 as separate mount points.

    All my installations (>= 7.10.57.00) are running fine in /usr/sap/>SID> for years now.

  • E-Recruitment - Issue in TREX

    Hi,
    I have got the TREX setup done by my basis team. I have also configured the Talent group in ECC portal.
    I also have some of the applicants assigned to the talent groups.
    But still i could'nt get the search options working in E-rec Ex:- Job search for vacant positions from the Applicants login.
    Can someone provide information on what could be the other missing steps to make the T-Rex functionality work in E-rec

    Well,
    what Deepak means is the field "published" in that table.
    Each posting is marked in T77RCF_EXT_PUB or T77RCF_INT_PUB for indexing. If indexing was successful, that published flag is set to X.
    If it is not set to X (start_date and end_date need to be current), then you probably forgot to run report RCF_PERIODICAL_SERVICES periodically.
    First check if Report is running periodically. The check the notes I sent you.

  • Trex 7.0 index issue

    Hi All,
    In our portal system which is on SAP Netweaver 7.0 ehp1 with Trex 7.0 version, there is a strange behaviour.
    The index corresponding to the repositories although they get created on reindexing every time allow for searching for the documents on the portal for few hours only.
    After few hours , the number of documents indexed is greatly reduced at times to even 0 and hence the search does not yield any results.
    Hence, the search only works few hours from the point the reindex is done and stops working after few hours.
    Any suggestions for resolving this strange behaviour is highly appreciated.

    Can you give us a little more information about the problem that you're seeing? Is this happening to just one index or multiple? What type of repositories are these that you are indexing? Is there a rebuild schedule set up on the index so that they automatically rebuild every day?
    Looking at the TREX monitor, how many documents are showing up in the 'OK' column for your index?

  • Check Index Existence - Trex SOLMAN Solution Database Issue

    Hi Experts,
    I have done all the configuration part for having solution database functionality in SAP SOLMAN system. Our basis team has also installed TREX successfully.
    But while checking in transaction CRMC_SAF_TOOL, everything is green except Check ndex Existence.
    We are getting the below error messages:
    Failed [Check=Index Existence ,Knowledge Base=SDB ,Language=E]
    Failed [0 ]
    Failed [No. of Documents=1-]
    On discussion with Basis Team, I came to know that Indexes are getting created at putty level and while going to the indexes (Menu - Goto- Indexex (F8) in CRMC_SAF_TOOL, everything is seems to be fine and successful. No error there.
    Please suggest where I am going wrong as I am still not able to search in IS02.

    Sometimes this error is seen when an older version of Trex being used.
    Are you on a current version of Trex? If not you may want to consider upgrading to a current version?
    Additionally, sometimes documents saved via content management cannot be indexed,
    as no url can be determined for them.
    4. knowledgebase SDB_ATTACHMENT:
       The URL's do not get determined and this is why nothing would be
       put to TREX.
       Herefore, please follow the following note:
       685521 Logon data for /sap/bc/contentserver service
    This may explain the HTTP:/no. DOcuments =1- error ???
    So please ensure you have set the URL for the content server as per Note 685521

    I have successfully installed Trex version 7.00.44.00 on windows 2008 server and Now, when I am trying to upgrade patch from 44 to 50 gives the below error at DNS domain name parameter enter stage.

    I have hosts entries maintained correctly as below.Checked the following note but no success.Host is not registered in the domain but as a workgroup.Can please tell me what could be reason for this???

  • Trex Authorization Issue

    Hi All,
             We want particular objects to be searched and hence we created the TREX.We created the Index in the System Administration>System Configuration>Index Admininstration.
    After creating the Index, when we are about to add the data source for the folder we get the following error message(when we click the ADD button)"Authorization Required"
    "The repsoitory you are trying to access requires specific permissions which you did not provide.Make sure you provide the appropriate access information for this repository."
    But we logging into portal using administrator and still we get this error.Our Index folder is also in active status only and it does not contain any errors when creating it.
    Can you please guide me as what can be the solution for this error and hence we can enable the Trex to work.

    Hi Ramalakshmi,
    Please log on to the portal with a user who has one of the roles com.sap.portal.content_admin_role, com.sap.portal.super_admin_role, or  com.sap.portal.system_admin_role. Such a user has the maximum permissions inside KM.
    If even this user could not access the repository I guess there is something wrong with the repository itself. Please have a look at the default trace and check it for any messages related to your repository.
    In the standard delivery the index_service has the read permission (see the System Principal configuration in km). So if you didnt change it the index_service user should already have the permission to access the folder.
    Moreover, another test with a newly created CM repository with some test documents could make shure that the overall procedure is running.
