    Hi Ganesh,
    In order to access the Visual Administrator, go to Start > Programs > SAP J2EE Engine > Visual Administrator. After you login, you will see 2 nodes i.e. Dispatcher and Server. Expand the Server node. Then go to "Services" and expand it. Then go all the way down to "TREX Service". Then on the right hand side, go to the property "nameserver.address" where you will key in "tcpip://<nameserver>:<port>". Then hit "Update" and click on the "Save" button. Then when you go to TRex Monitor, you should be able to see the Name Server running. Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • How To Configure TREX Name Server&Port for UDDI  Service Registry Settings

    Hello Experts,
    we are using CE 7.1 SP 4 and I would like to use the trex service in the Service Registry.
    I use \NWA\Service Registry Configuration\Service Registry Settings\Keyword Search and want to test the TREX Communication using the Test Connection Button.
    If I do so, I receive "Connection to TREX not successful".
    When I press the Update TREX button I receive this exception:
    com.sapportals.trex.TrexException: TREX Name Server (including back-up servers) is down or not accessable. (Errorcode 7217)
    I tried to configure the trex.service with the two parameters: nameserver.address and nameserver.backupserverlist -> tcpip://myhostname.mydomain:30001 (Instance 00).
    I am not sure if the port number is correct -> is there a way to lookup the correct port number?
    Is there something else I should configure?
    Thanks for help, best regards

  • TREX-Name server error

    Dear All,
    We have configured TREX 6.1 on our Portal.
    The Installation is complete & now we are carrying out the post installation activities.
    We are getting the error like -
    "The name server is not running or no name server is configured in TREX Service Properties."
    Through Visual Administrator the TREX Service entry for name server are completed.
    When I stop/start the TREX service the  process for TREXNameserver is  running. I then go to the Portal & click System Configuration - --TREX Monitoring the above message comes & in the Task Manager when I check the process for TREXNameserver it is not running.
    Please suggest asap.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Please check if you have done the below
    Procedure
         1. On the portal host, edit the configuration file config_local.properties. The information below gives the respective locations of the file:
         <SAP_J2EE_Directory>>clusterserverservicesservlet_jspworkjspTempirjrootWEB-INFportalportalappscom.sap.km.applicationlib
         2. Insert the following line:
    trexserver=<hostname>.<domain>

  • TREX Name Server Disabled

    Hello,
    I am running EP6 SP2 Patch29.  When I click on System Admin - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Index Administration and the TREX Monitor.  I get a message that <b>Name Server Disabled</b>.  The other serivces listed are connected.
    I went to the TREX Server and I can open a telnet connect on that server on port 8355, which is what is configured as the Name Server port.
    Any ideas why I get Name Server Disabled when I looked at the TREX Monitor?
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Keith,
      Check the parameters(Name Server parameters .. if anything is disabled, change it) of TREX Service in Visual Administrator and check the parameters in topology.ini file.
    Hope this will solve your problem.

  • DNS timeout and Name Server timeout between two DC's

    Hi All
    My clients have a brand new domain built for them, with two domain controllers at separate sites, and one site is having some issues.
    At one site (where DC2 is hosted), all users are having 5-10 minute log on delays - once in everything is running without issues. Site where DC1 is has zero issues - they run smoothly, get a nice quick login etc. All users are using redirected folders and
    all have the same GPO's applying to them.
    DC1 also has periodic issues communicating with DC2 - nslookup using DC2 gives "DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds" on external AND internal queries, but then 5 minutes later will resolve perfectly. During the "DNS time out"
    period, trying to resolve DC2 as a Name Server also gives the error "A timeout occurred during validation".
    Not sure if these (slow logon and DNS/NameServer time out issues) issues are related but I am at a loss.
    Reverse lookup zones are fully created and populated, entries aren't randomly deleting themselves. Replication between both DC's is working fine, no errors and SYSVOL/NETLOGON are sharing fine from both DC's. Occassionally restarting the DNS server services
    on both servers will kick them back into talking - but only for around 30sec-1minute, after that they communicate periodically without problems and spend the rest of the time not resolving.
    Any ideas floating around, as I am at a loss here. We haven't been able to join more than a few test users to DC2's site for fear of them all calling every day due to long log on periods.

    Hi,
    Are you pointing each DC/DNS to the other one as primary dns in tcp/ip properties? Can you post a dcdiag /a /f:dcdiag.log from the DC2?
    Any warnings/errors in Application log on the client(s) facing issues after they get logged in ? Can you also confirm that users from site with DC2 are having DC at : set | find /I "LOGONSERVER" output?
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Calin
    Hi Calin
    The DC's were originally pointing at each other for the primary but others prior to posting here suggested that was not best practice anymore and said they should be the other way around - in any case, either direction doesn't resolve the issues.
    The only application error the users are getting is :
    The winlogon notification subscriber <SessionEnv> was unavailable to handle a notification event.
    The winlogon notification subscriber <GPClient> took 84 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logon)

    SYSVOL is sharing OK, these errors are occurring when DC1 is performing backups and comes good a few seconds later)
    The DNS failures are not on the NIC of each server they are the forwarders for the server, not sure why they are failing as DNS lookup is running fine and the IP's are resolving correctly within the forwarders.
    set | find /I "LOGONSERVER"
    C:\Users\Christopher.McCartne>set | find /I "LOGONSERVER"
    LOGONSERVER=\\NDC1-DC-V01
    NDC1 = DC1
    CAB1 = DC2
    The users are logging onto NDC1 currently as I did switch around their DNS servers to have DC1 as their primary to test if this resolved the logon times. It didn't so I've switched them back and will re-run the check to see which server is the logonserver.

  • Flat file connection: The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid

    I'm trying to execute a SSIS package via SQL agent with a flat file source - however it fails with Code: 0xC001401E The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
    It appears that the problem is with the rights of the user that's running the package (it's a proxy account). If I use a higher-privelege account (domain admin) to run the package it completes successfully. But this is not a long-term solution, and I can't
    see a reason why the user doesn't have rights to the file. The effective permissions of the file and parent folder both give the user full control. The user has full control over the share as well. The user can access the file (copy, etc) outside the SSIS
    package.
    Running the package manually via DTExec gives me the same error - I've tried 32 and 64bit versions with the same result. But running as a domain admin works correctly every time.
    I feel like I've been beating my head against a brick wall on this one... Is there some sort of magic permissions, file or otherwise, that are required to use a flat file target in an SSIS package?

    Hi Rossco150,
    I have tried to reproduce the issue in my test environment (Windows Server 2012 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2), however, everything goes well with the permission settings as you mentioned. In my test, the permissions of the folders are set as follows:
    \\ServerName\Temp  --- Read
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source  --- No access
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source\Flat Files --- Full control
    I suspect that your permission settings on the folders are not absolutely as you said above. Could you double check the permission settings on each level of the folder hierarchy? In addition, check the “Execute as user” information from job history to make
    sure the job was running in the proxy security context indeed. Which version of SSIS are you using? If possible, I suggest that you install the latest Service Pack for you SQL Server or even install the latest CU patch.

  • NWDI for the 04s preview fails with 'SLD name-server configuration error'

    After the installation, everything seems to work fine except that when I go to CMS, the links on the top seems to be hardcoded to point to http://pwdf3102:50100/dtr, even in the Domain Data. When I tried to change it to my local server, it keeps complaining about "Unexpected error; inform your system administrator: <Localization failed: ResourceBundle='com.sap.cms.util.exception.CMSExceptionMessages', ID='SLD name-server configuration error', Arguments: []> : Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key SLD name-server configuration error"
    Any suggestions on how to work around this? Thanks.

    Brian,
    Try to import the model file first by going to SLD->Administration->Import CIM Model. If the problem sticks, then try to remove the systems. The preview version has lots of pre-exist system name in the technical system, which you can find giving errors since they're not reachable. So you can remove them from SLD (Home->Technical Systems) if they are preventing you from procceeding.
    You need to go to http://server:port/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration to update the name server as well.
    Hope this helps...

  • Photoshop CS2: name server problem: Is there a solution?

    Hi!
    I have Photoshop CS2. I can't start the program anymore because of the already well known name server problem... (DEAR ADOBE!! HOW COULD YOU!!! )
    Now, what can I do? As far as I know I purchased the software for an unlimited amount of time (thanks to the fact that there weren't any clouds, halleluja!)
    Can anybody help me, please? Is there a way "around"?
    Thanks a lot!!!
