Trex preprocessor problems

Hi
I have tried to get our TREX server to index some documents on our portal. Yesterday I sucseeded in this and indexed a document. Today I only get a preprocessor error 6404 and the indexing don't work anymore.
I get this information in the log file:
#1.5 #00123F687FBD007C0000002700001A9C000460FC4A3445E7#1232536599765#com.sap.portal.roles.RoleNavigation#sap.com/irj#com.sap.portal.roles.RoleNavigation#Administrator#1055##x051s01_EP1_236131250#Administrator#b7b6e1f0e7ac11ddba2a00123f687fbd#SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_38##0#0#Error##Java###URL does not point to an object of type INavigationConnectorNode: portal_content/administrator/super_admin/super_admin_role/com.sap.portal.system_administration/com.sap.portal.system_admin_ws/com.sap.portal.system_configuration/com.sap.km.AdminConfig/com.sap.km.AdminSystemIndexes/relatedItems
[EXCEPTION]

Hi!
I have solved the problem, I got the 6401 error due to the wrong URL.
I found the URL in the trace in the TREX admin tool and I copied it to the web browser on the server where I run the TREX server. When I did this I got the error 401 in the web browser. I then tested to add the port number to the URL and then I could access the file.
I went to the URL generator in the portal and added the port number and then I could index the documents.

The trace continues with a lot of similar error messages.
All efforts to index a repository in the enterprise portal have failed due to similar errors (the TREXPreprocessor-Trace file shows similar error messages and the same error code 14128).
Does anybody know what might be the problem here?
    Kind regards,
    Christof.

    Hi Christof,
14128 = Operating system generated error
And in that case there are only two comments I can make:
    1) Have you gone through the documented post installation tasks?
    2) If 1=true, then log a support message to SAP, please.

  • TREX Nameserver Problems!

    Hi All
I am having a problem with my TREX Namserver on one of my portals.
In the TREX Monitor - Service Status i have a message:  <b>The name server is not running or no name server is configured in TREX Service Properties. Start J2EE Admin to change the properties.</b>
When I try and start the TREX Administrator i get this message: <b>No connection to NameServer <PORTALTST:30201></b>
I have set the Nameserver in the J2EE (go.bat)
Can anyone help! (BTW it is a new installation EP6 SP15)
    Thanks in Advance!!

    hi,
    The problem may be because
    1. You might have wrongly specified the name server address or the system name of the trex server itself in the trex services. also check if you have saved it and stop and start the trex service in the visual admin.
    2. Your trex instance might be stopped. Go to services in control panel and try starting it.
    Hope it helps...

  • TREX: indexing problem

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure TREX in our portal. I've created an index (search index) and I've assigned data to index (html files and pdf files).
When I test the indexing process in the TREX Monitor, I always see that some pdf files aren't indexed. I assign them to index again and again, but they aren't indexed. I get "Preparation Failed" for these documents and the indexing process doesn't continue (it seems that it stops).
What can it be the cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

    Hi,
There is no need to create new repository. You can add that folder as "Data Source" to Index. Then all files and folders under that folder will automatically indexed.
    Please follow the below steps.
    1. Create a new Index.
    2. Add folder (Whatever you created) as "Data Source" to index.
    3. Save data source.
Now you can get all your documents indexed.
Here note one points. You will not get all the documents indexed immidiately. This will depend on your TREX load.
Other wise if you want it immediately flush the particular index.
    1. Logon to portal as Administrator
    2. Navigate to 'System Administrator' -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> Cache Monitor
    3. Note the System ID of you local system from combo box under System ID
    4. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> System Landscape Definations -> Systems -> Content Management System
    5. Check that the same System ID Should be there. If not there please add it by clicking on button 'New'
    6. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service ->Scheduler Tasks -> Index Management Task Queue Reader
    7. Open "IndexServiceTaskQueueReader" for editing
    8. Add the same system ID under "System ID"
I think this will solve your problem

  • Portal & TREX Performance problems!

    Hi All
I am having an issue with a portal we have just implemented, in terms of performance and TREX processes.
It appears TREXIndexServer.exe consumes a large amount of processor resource and causes the portal to stop working. When the process is killed off everything goes back to normal!
Can anyone help me fix this?
    Thanks
    Phil

We currently only have 7 indexes running on the portal and they run twice a day once at 8.00am and 12:30pm indexing and classifying a total of around 300 documents. These are all stored in the database!
The Server its self is quite high spec and should not have a problem.
It seems that the TREX engine !
    Hope this helps!

  • TREX installation problems

    I have EP 6.0.2.4.7 on MSS 8.0, J2EE pl 22
The Portal is up. I tried to install TREX on the same server. However I had not installed the IIS before I started. I got an error during the TREX install about creating a site in IIS. So I decided to uninstall TREX cleanly and re-install after I got my ISS up. That way I hoped it would create the site this time.
However I guess the Control panel - Add remove programs does not uninstall TREX cleanly. Because I tried to un-install / re-install and this time it was not showing the TREX services as originally. One more pass at the same, and now I have errors during installation.
My question is, how can I remove all traces of TREX from this box ( while not touching the portal, J2EE, MSSQL etc.), so that I can start again just as if it was the first time......
    Regards, Sanket

Clear out all of your temp folders. TREX installation stores some information in the temp folders to be re-used. I've ran into the same problem and noticed that when i reinstalled with the same user my previous settings were remembered, but when I installed with a other user I could select the options again......

  • Preprocessor problems.

I am seeing what appears to be a bug in the C++ preprocessor. It is a difficult problem to describe, but easy to demonstrate. Given the following "code:"
    $ cat test.cc
    #define FOO(bar) bar
    one two three
    FOO(one two three)
    #define two()
    one two three
    FOO(one two three)
The correct output is demonstrated by the C compiler:
    $ cc -V
    cc: Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C 5.3 Patch 111679-08 2002/05/09
usage: cc [ options] files. Use 'cc -flags' for details
    $ cc -E test.cc
    # 1 "test.cc"
    # 2
    one two three
    one two three
    # 6
    one two three
    one two three
    #ident "acomp: Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C 5.3 Patch 111679-08 2002/05/09"
The C++ compiler appears to incorrectly remove whitespace in the fourth line:
    $ CC -V
    CC: Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C$$ 5.3 Patch 111685-09 2002/07/17
    $ CC -E test.cc
    #3 "test.cc"
    one two three
    one two three
    one two three
    one twothree
This prevents the macro "two" from being correctly recognized in any subsequent macro replacement. This only seems to occur when a macro name is used without arguments, as the argument to another macro.
Can anyone confirm this as a bug? Can anyone suggest a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Christopher Currie

Yes, it's a compiler bug. Unfortunately, there is no workaround currently.
The bug Id is 4763527. You could go to <http://sunsolve.Sun.COM/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=home> to check the status of the bug.

    Hi
i think the trex services in os is not started.
    Please do the following:
    1. Restart the TREX Service from the OS. In Windows go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Look for TREX Instance XX
    2. Check if the system process TREXIndexServer(.exe) runs. In Windows just open the Taskmanager and look for the process.
    3. Go to the TREX log folder "\usr\sap\trex_61\trace". Check for errors in the file TrexIndexServer.XXXXX.XXX.trc

  • E-recruiting TREX search problem

    Hi all,
I am experiencing a problem when searching from e-recruiting. Everything appears to be set up ok. Documents are being correctly indexed and all RFC connections are ok. Job RCF_PERIODICAL_SERVICES runs successfully.
When I do a test search from SKPR07 it only returns results if a space is entered between each letter of the search word. For example, if I search for the word 'skill' I get no results found but if I enter 's k i l l' it does return results.
A bigger problem is that no search results are returned from the user interface both for the external candidate and the internal recruiter.
As I say everything is being indexed correctly and I get successful results when performing a test search and a test index from the index category tab of the Search Server relation Monitor (transaction srmo).
Has anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions as to how this can be resolved?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim

I got a response from OSS on this so it is now resolved.

    Hi Sanam,
For the TREX Preprocessor trace, You define the maximum file size for the input and output of documents in INI file - TREXPreprocessor.ini
The default size is set to 'Unlimited'
Please check the following values maintained in the configuration file.
    Section: [ httpclient ]
    Parameter: max_content_length
    Default: Unlimited
    Also read,

  • Problem in indexing documents

    hi all,
I've created an index and checked The status in TREX Monitor it is showing that 69 documents got satatus ok. but my repository contains some thousands of files. how can i make all file to be search.but one thing wht i obzerved is day by day the number of files got status is increasing from 69 to 80 like that and i am unable to find how the no is increasing.so, how can we  make all the  documents got status ok.
    Regards
    gnana

    Hi,
Documents with more than 10kb were not indexed. The reason for this is, that doc´s smaller than 10kb are automatically transmitted to TREX by the crawler. For documents bigger than 10kb the crawlers only transmit the URI and then the TREX fetches them by itself.
The URL´s that are sent to TREX are normally built by the URL generator using the host entry. If you have a clustered landscape this might not work, because the Firewall, Load-Balancers, WebServers, or external authentication Systems might cause problems when they are directly called by TREX via the normal portal URL.
In this case you must specify the name of a specific server (e.g. http://server.com:50000) as Alternative Host in the URL Generator Service. But be careful with that setting. A wrong setting might crash your system.
If you have clustered system, be sure that the communication TREX to Portal can take place without problems. Take a look at the trace files of the TREX preprocessor, this should give you a hint on this.

  • TREX does not index documents

Now this one is a bit strange. We have created an index on a file system repository that contains a number of different types of files including plain text, MS-Word, Excel and Acrobat PDFs. The queue now has a red status showing a sizeable number of documents failed the preparation, but a few are ready to be transmitted.
We found that none of the MS-Word, Excel and Acrobat documents passed the preparation stage. Anything that passes preparation is either a directory or a plain text file, though this is not consistent either since a number of files that did not pass preparation where als plain text files.
What gives? Am I missing something here? Any hints would be very much appreciated.

    Hello Wolfgang,
we faced exactly the same problem. To be more precisely, documents with more than 10kb were not indexed.
A wrong setting might crash your system (happened on our productive layer unfortunately).
If you use SSL for the communication between TREX and portal it even gets more complicated. Fortunately I did not have to deal with that.
Thus, if you have clustered system, be sure that the communication TREX to Portal can take place without problems. Take a look at the trace files of the TREX preprocessor, this should give you a hint on this.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
