Tried to download latest update, system not compatible, now browser does not work even when I tried to download it again. I have bookmarks I'd like back.

I currently have a Mac, version 10.5.8. My Firefox had been running slow so I tried to download the latest version. When it had downloaded, a message popped up saying that this version of Firefox is not compatible with my system. Well, 'no harm no foul' I figured and I tired to go back to my previous browser.
But when I went to click on it, there was a large circle with a line through it. I couldn't open anything. Firefox had effectively been deleted from my computer.
Now it's ok if I can't run Firefox anymore but I had thousands of bookmarks, compiled over years that I would really like back. And I have no idea how to do that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The last version of Firefox available for OSX 10.5 was Firefox 16. Firefox versions 17-20 require OSX 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8 as well as an Intel processor (which you have).

Running an old version of your OS is dangerous and makes your system vulnerable to attack by hackers. Visit the Apple site to see about upgrading to a newer major version of OSX.
Using an old version of any internet-facing application on the internet makes your system vulnerable. You should always keep your system completely up to date.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If extensions aren't causing the problem, see below.

Hello, Yes I have tested this with Android Lollipop and found that when the tone is set to silent within the BBM settings I do not receive any audible notification. Testing summary: Access the More menu - Settings - Tone dropdown and set Tone to BBM
- Send a test message and an audible notification occursAccess the More menu - Settings - Tone dropdown and set Tone to Silent

Firefox update will not work but when I follow suggested link to do it manually, it says my version of Firefox is up to date.

Whenever I open Firefox, it keeps trying to do an update. Then I get the following error message "The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)" It then tells me to update manually at Blah, blah, blah. When I follow that link, it tells me that my computer has the latest version of Firefox. What gives?

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.

*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Keyboard not working even when trying to go to BIOS

Hi,
I have IBM Thinkpad R60 9458 A13 laptop having Windows 7 ,today its keyboard is not working but in Windows its function keys like brightness or sound is responding without pressing Fn key.
And no other letter or numeric key is responding.
I tried to boot the laptop and trying to press Thinkvantage button, its not responding.
I then inserted Windows 7 OS DVD and when prompt comes to press any key ..i tried all key but no help.
I then clicked on Compatibility option to have keyboard on screen which is working fine.
Pls advise what would have gone wrong

I’m sorry to hear that a few keys in the keypad of your Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is not working properly.
Check if the keys are working in different applications. Some keys such as the function keys F1 through F12 will not work with every program. An easy way to test this is to open notepad or other word processing program and trying the key. Try getting into safe mode and see if the keys work. Remove the key from the keyboard and clean it. In some situations dirt, hair, dust, etc. can obstruct keys causing them not to work.
Please try to get into BIOS mode and see if the keyboard is working there. Tap F1 key while system shows the Lenovo logo to get into BIOS.
1. If you are able to use the keyboard in BIOS, it could be a software issue. I would recommend in that case to do a System Restore which will revert the settings in your system to a previous time.
2. If keyboard doesn’t respond in BIOS as well, I strongly suggest you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Homesharing not working even when activated on all my devices

Hi everyone,
I have not tried Homesharing in a long time, but everything I can remind is that it worked perfectly. So, I have not changed my setting, since yesterday I have uploaded itunes 11 and Remotes 3.0 (but it is the same in Music) Homesharing is not working : on my iPhone and iPad I get a message asking to activate the system on my computer using my Apple ID.
Obviously I tried to re-activate it, but it was already in place.
I tried to de-activate it, to re-activated it, same on all my idevices, but no changes.
Does someone have a clue of what's happening to me ?
I'm using OS X 10.8.2, iTunes 11, iOS 6.0.1 on both my iPhone and iPad.

Exactly the same problem with the Remote App and Itunes 11 (and looking at this forum it is affecting a lot of people), tried a few different things with no joy. Hopefully someone will find the solution soon.

Firefox 5.0.1 Sync is not working even after info replaced and device added again.

No errors were displayed so I followed guidance in articles "Firefox Sync is not working" (Uninstalled Sync add-on, updated Firefox on all devices, and Replaced Sync data) and "Replace your Sync information" which worked to get identical bookmarks on desktop and laptop. I used the desktop data as the sync data and added the laptop as a device. But when I change bookmarks on the laptop the changes do not sync with the desktop. I don't know what else to do.

Thanks for the suggestion Ibai, but I'm pretty sure I did that and it still didn't work. In my frustration I decided to try XMarks, which is accomplishing my needs, but I'm concerned with this as a long-term solution because it was recently purchased by the "Last Pass" company, which disabled password sync. This is not a huge deal for me because I use 1Password, but I'm worried about XMarks somehow becoming incompatible with 1Password as the Last Pass company moves forward with encouraging people to use their password software instead. Since it is working now I'm hesitant to mess with it anymore. Does that sound reasonable or should I trash the XMarks add-on and reconfigure Firefox sync and make sure I click the Tools->Sync Now drop down to give Firefox sync another try? Pros/Cons?

My zoom/pinch/touchring of my Wacom Intuos 5 touch in Illustrator and InDesign V.2014.1.0 (latest update) is not working anymore.

First i thought that it had something to do with Yosemite (update OS X). I have already re-installed the driver software twice. No problem in Photoshop (latest version) so i think Yosemite or the tablet are not the problem?
Can anybody please give me some advice? Thank you in advance.

Did you run the cleaner tool in between the uninstall and the reinstall? If not, try it.

Latest update texts not working

I installed the newest update . Now texts are disappearing or it wont let me send/respond to texts at all.
i can read what someone has sent me a text and sometimes it lets me type a response but it wont send and then deletes. I have had to reenter texts 5 or 6 times - give up for 5 minutes and try again. i have rebooted...this is causing so much frustration that i may try to delete the current upgrade and go back to the previous version.\
The upgrade was very slow to install and it took an hour or so later for all my contacts to show up again etc ....
appreciate any guidance!

Adobe Flash does not work, even when enabled.

The Adobe Flash plugin doesn't seem to work. Well, it's there but doesn't show any Flash content. In other words, it just shows the background of the site (or blank). Sites are able to detect Flash if it's disabled. No other addons or plugins are interfering with it. I can't update Firefox or Flash.

* check IE works with Flash content at present
* download and install Firefox 14+
* uninstall Flash 11.3 and install Flash 10.3
* post back with how you get on
* note these are temporary workarounds until developers fix the problems.<br> Whilst these problems exist upgrading FlashPlayer as advised by Adobe Flash, or by Firefox's pluginchecker may not be a good idea.
First of all I note you seem to be using the old Firefox 5. That is no longer supported and is not secure. I would suggest you update to Firefox 14 either by using the menu option

Secondly note there may be some problems with use of the current Flash 11.3 versions. Some Firefox users are needing to uninstall tht and downgrade to Flash Player 10.3 (older but secure) or Flash Player 11.2
This problem has had developer attention for a few weeks but there is no sign of a proper solution yet. Note at least some of the problems relate to a new security feature ''protected mode'' used by FlashPlayer on windows systems above Windows XP.
As a Windows user you may wir=sh to check if FlashPlayer works ok on Internet Explorer ? It should do. (But you may have problems if you follow the official advice to use an Adobe uninstaller, you may need to review the IE installation of FlashPlayer afterwards.)
Note the fact that your problem relates to FlashPlayer 11.3 is at the moment no more than a guess, based on the number of known issues at present (and the sytsem information aside that indicates you are using flash 11.3).
The current standard official advice is :
Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 13 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Why do my themes not work even when enabled?

I installed a theme and enabled it. There was a message to restart FF4, so I did, but when it started, it was still the default theme. I changed it back to default, restarted, changed it again to my preferred them, restarted again, and yet it was still default.

I had this & I think the reason was that I had just gotten a blue tooth headset which was turned on but I had taken it off. So I think the sounds were going there.
Yes, after I figured that out, I turned the blue tooth headset off when I took it off. Now when I just checked the sounds, they are sounding on the phone.
I guess the same woud be true if you have any other blue tooth or other device like head set or speaker set up for sounds.

So I found the directions to uninstall itunes, I uninstalled itunes, apple software update, then I am unable to uninstall apple mobile device support. Since it says to uninstall them in order, I didn't go any futher. I did restart and got this message
