Trojan.spatet - Deskjet F2280 - HP Solution Centre

Hello. This is my very first post here so I hope it's in the correct place!
I recently had my new-look HP Solution Centre updated. This morning I scanned a document and had problems when I tried to print it - a lengthy delay. In the end, I had to delete the print request.
I ran Malwarebytes just now and it found two trojans. Under the heading 'Vendor' appeared Trojan.Spatet and two entries, one a file -   (C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\help\player\FlashPla.exe) and the other a corresponding Registry Value.
Is it just a co-incidence that the trojan appeared just after the Solution Centre Update? Or is this a false positive viz the trojan is in fact part of the HP Solution Centre software?

and now another problem! When I powered up just now, there was a window "SolutionCenter".
Its message was "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alernate path to a folder containing the installation package 'SolutionCenter.msi' in the box below."
The box was titled "Use source" and it it were the wordsCALS~1\Temp\7zS0463\setup\SolutionCenter".
Clicking OK took me back to the first window. Clicking Cancel, brought up another Message Box that said "(Exclamation mark in yellow triangle) An installation package for the product SolutionCenter cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'SolutionCenter.msi."
Clicking OK brought up a message "Please wait while Windows configures SolutionCenter - gathering required information." After a few minutes of this repeating itself, I hit Cancel. After several hits on Cancel, the blasted message went away.
Can anyone from HP help me please?

  • Deskjet D1460 not showing up in Solution Centre

I've recently been having problems with my HP Deskjet D1460, which I tried to solve by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver and all related software. A fatal error occurred during installation, the installation was reversed and a solution was downloaded. After following the steps in the solution, I tried to reinstall again, only to be presented with a message saying the software was already installed - turns out the installation hadn't been reversed after all. Further investigation showed that the printer was working, although the original issue had not been solved. I managed to trace the cause of the issue to Google Chrome, and by uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome solved the problem. So I now have a fully functional printer. But here's the problem - the printer is no longer showing up in HP Solution Centre. Prior to the reinstall, it appeared there but wouldn't display ink levels. Now it's disappeared altogether, but my other HP printer (Photosmart Plus B209a-m) is still there and displaying ink levels. Any ideas why the Deskjet has disappeared, and how can I get it back?

    Hi nintendoboy15,
Thank you again for the reply and the additional information. I'm sorry to hear that this printer software is being so stubborn for you, but I think I still have a few tricks up my sleeve
I'd suggest you go through this Fatal Error 'Error 1603 document, but do not do the uninstall/reinstall step. Once you've gone through that, I'd like you to complete the steps in this Resolving "Error 1606" document as well. You can do the uninstall/reinstall when it comes to it in this document.
I hope between these two documents you get a resolution!!

    Hi Armatic,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are attempting to install the printer on to you Windows 8 computer.
If you have the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable, please remove the cable from both printer and computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I am going to give you a link to the HP Deskjet F2200/F2224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver. Please save the download to the Desktop on the computer so that it creates it's own Icon.  This will make it easy to find when the download is complete.
Double click the new Icon and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.  The installation will prompt you as to when to connect the USB cable so please do not connect it before hand.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thank you for your time.

  • HHO Solution Centre Not Installing - "Hotkey/Software" Access Issue

I downloaded the driver for the Deskjet F4280 printer and while it did indtall, the HP Solution Centre installation was aborted because of no access to Hotkey/Software (whatever that means - Windows registry setting, I believe).
Without HP Solution Centre, I can't seem to control my scans (resolution, file path, etc.). When I press the scan button on the printer it goes directly to the scan function without allowing me to change any options. Is there a way to do all this without HP Solution centre?

    Hi there @Vabish ,
    Welcome to the community
I read about the error you are seeing which is not allowing you to use the printer software for scanning. You could try using Microsoft Paint as a work-around for scanning. However, if you would like to let me know which Windows OS you're running, I will look into some more troubleshooting for you!
    Have a great day!

  • HP Solution Centre reports unable to start as printer not installed; but I can print!!!

My Officejet Pro 8500 A909g suddenly stopped working. It was connected to my HP Pavillion dv9700 by wireless and has been for the last 6 months or so. My laptop is running on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I have made no software or hardware changes since I last used the printer; just a few hours ago.
I can now print again (having run through all the steps listed below), but can no longer use the HP Solution Centre to run any tasks as it reports that it 'cannot run because  the device installation is not complete'
In order to get back to printing, I did all the usual of shutting everything down...computer, router and printer...all to no avail.
Then I downloaded the latest printer software from the HP site (OJP8500V909_Full_14.exe) and first ran the uninstall section of that software; removing ALL of the HP software from my machine.
I used CCleaner to remove all traces including those from the registry as well.
I uninstalled and re-installed the software.... 3 times. (at least it gave me a chance to catch up on reading a good Terry Pratchett book)
Each time I varied the conditions relating to my antivirus... Kaspersky. First by leaving the AV running; then by switching off the AV and switching on the Windows firewall; and then finally by switching off both the AV and the Windows Firewall.
On each occasion, during the installation, the software 'finds' my printer on the network; reports that it is installing, but when it gets to the end of the installation and moves on to the part where it reads 'configuring the printer', it gets stuck and after waiting for some time with the green progress light moving from side to side, nothing further happens.
I have downloaded and run various 'help' bits from the HP site ; HPHNDU.EXE and HPPDU.EXE and printed the test pages from them as well as printing from Word and Adobe pdf; so there is now no problem in printing.
Now, when I run the installation software again without uninstalling, depsite inputting the IP Address of the printer, I still get the error message that no printer could be found on the network?????
    What have I missed here??
    Thank you

One very important place to remove the other software is in the "server properties" in your printer folder.  You need to click on your printer icon in the printers folder> then look for "server properties" , click it> go to drivers> remove all instances of your first printer you originally uninstalled.  For some reason the drivers get hung in this and have to be removed in order for you to configure your device- Let me know of any questions

  • Printing problem on Deskjet F2280 connected to JetDirect en3700 (Scanning works)

    Hi,
Recently acquired a JetDirect en3700 and after updating it to the latest firmware release (V.28.22.FF?) hooked up my trusty Deskjet F2280 to it. The printer is detected by the print server and I can scan pages using the Web UI but I can't print anything, even the test page button (the physical button on the en3700) doesn't produce any output.
I've installed the network printer on Windows 8.1 x64 and Debian Wheezy and while they can both see the printer, no output is produced when I send pages down to it.
When I connect the printer to both machines using USB I can print pages without an issue.
Here's the main page on the Web UI, stating that the printer is 'Online':
    And the full configuration page:
    Any thoughts/comments?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Follow the HP Print and Scan doctor by selecting Fix Printing and check if that may make any difference.
The tool can be downloaded from the following link:
    http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PDU
I would also suggest trying the following Fixit by Microsoft and check if that may help resolving the issue:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/printing_problems/en
If the issue persists follow these steps and check if that may help:
    Unplug the USB cable.
Uninstall the printer by following Start > Programs > HP > HP Deskjet 2645 > Uninstall.
Click both the Windows Logo and the R keys of your keyboard. the Run dialog appears.
    Type Spool and press OK.
    Open the Drivers folder.
    Open the x64 folder.
    Open the 3 folder.
Rename the HPBXPSRENDER.DLL file into HPBXPSRENDER.OLD
Reinstall the HP software and try printing again
    Hope that helps,

  • Maintenance Fuction Will Not Work on HP Solution Centre

I have my HP Pavilion laptop going to my HP Photsmart B209a-m printer via my Netgear Wireless router.
I can print  scan and read the ink levels in the Solution Centr, but if I go to >Settings>Printer Toolbox<  none of the maintenance function will work,
Message box “The computer is unable to establish a two-way communications with the device”
If I go to>Devices and printers and right click>Printer preferences>Features tab< and click the box Printer Services, all the same maintenance functions will work.
So there is a way out of this.
As I seem to working on a knife edge with this software, in case I lose all of the function again, I am do not want to try anything like reloading drivers etc. unless there is a definite reason/fix why this does not work.
But would appreciate an explanation and fix, or is it just poor software? Even running the troubleshooter before, I lost the printing function and had to do a restore.

Looking at other threads, it would appear that there was software problem with Solution Centr before ver 13.
I have been on to HP support because I could not find out which ver I have, they tell me I have ver 14 but were not clear how I could check this myself.
If this is the case there must still be a  bug in the sofware preventing my Toolbox from working.

  • Not able to use HP Solution Centre after installing on Windows 7

    Widows 7 Office Jet 6500 N
I have reinstalled drivers on 6 occasions, each time a diffenetnt problem. I now have it installed to work on a network and all seems OK except  I have no Solution Centre only HP Document Manager.  It asks me to complete the installation by connecting a USB cable. When I do that it gives me full HP Solution Centre but messes up my printers, insatlling Copy1 and I find I cannot print again. (I have also installed on a XP computer on the same network without any problems, all works properly with Solutions Centte etc)
Any ideas if I can have the HP Solution Centre as well please
    Thanks  Robert

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply.
I am not sure that it actually answers me problem.
I now have the printer and Windows 7 computer set up and working.  The only way I can work the printer for scanning etc is thorugh an icon called HP Document Manager which whilst fine it does not have the refinements that I have ben used to when using the icon HP Solution Centre in the past.  This allosw easier usaeage of scannong etc, ink levels, settings and so on. It is this that I would like to reinstate.
I am not using a Wireless Network rather a Wired Network
    Thanks

  • Solution centre not working for windows 7 and wireless all in one, altho can print ok

I have installed an officejet 6500 wireless all in one on my HP Elitebook running Windows 7 64 bit.
Although the printer installed - albeit with an error for Microsoft.net4 that was resolved after a re reboot - HP Solution Centre v14 wont start. Indicated device installation wasnt complete, plugged in USB and tried to uninstall/re-install all same thing.
Ran Network, scan and print utilities and have MacAfee and firewalls all dis-abled during install. After the error pop up it just closes.

How do i install the Solution Centre?

    OK.
    Thanks.
Install the full feature software driver package that is available at the printer's web support driver & software download section. This will also be based on the operating system you are using the printer with. Some operating systems may not be supported. The basic driver does not contain the HP Solution Center.
I would have been able to provide a link to the section but you did not completely identify your printer. Post the product name or product number in a post in your thread.

  • Solution Centre in Win 8.1 keeps runs device detection on every use

New Win 8.1 notebook. Connected the OfficeJet Pro 8500A A910g by USB. Windows detected and loaded printer driver, also loaded network driver as printer connected via wireless.  Disconnected USB cable. Downloaded and installed HP full software package. It went through device detection, wirless, could not find printer, gave it the IP address, it then found it OK. Went through all steps including opening an HP web page to sign up for something. It created desktop shortcut and enabled scan over network. Can scan from device to PC, works just fine. Next time I wanted to scan from PC, double click on desktop shortcut, UAC pops up, say OK can make changes. Goes through device detection agian. Eveything works. Closed Solution Centre. Re-opened it and same thing. Every time I want to use the Solution Centre I have go through teh detection process.  I tried running the .exe directly from Windows Explorer so there are no switches in the command line, no change. There must be a fix.

    Hi,
Please try following the steps below and let me know if that helps:
From the Control Panel go to View devices and Printers.
Right click the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and select Remove Device, next unplug the USB,
from the start menu's search bar type %temp%. open the temp folder and then open the newest installation folder which starts with 7z, then open the Utils folder.
For a 32 bit OS open the X86 folder, open the X64 folder for a 64-bit OS.. follow those steps if you aren't sure about your OS type:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03666764&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en
Run the RemovePreinstalledDrivers file and allow it to reach 100%
Go 2 folders up back to the 7z folder and locate the installation MSI file:
search for *x86.msi or *x64.msi, depanding on your OS type.
Right click the larger MSI file out of the 2 resutls, then click on Repair. if you get a prompt that it is only valid for installed software select Instal instead of repair.
Reboot your PC if prompted to do so.
Open the Officejet Pro 8500A software and follow the steps to reconfigure the device, then check for any difference.
Please let me know if that helps,

  • HP SOLUTION CENTRE - MISSING for HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner - after upgrade to Windows 7 or 8

Tearing my hair out after searching for months for solution - hope Someone Anyone can help.  I love my HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner and it is still working wonderfully 90% of the time - after a number of years.
However - when I upgraded to Windows 7 and Windows 8 (on other machine) - I had to download New Drivers for it.  These did not come with the HP Solution Centre - which is where I was able to select "Transparencies or Slides".
I have Adobe Photoshop and can scan anything else - but not the Transparencies and Slides for which I bought the machine.
Is there a way of downloading the HP Solution Centre or accessing this feature?
    Happy to hear any solutions
    Thank You
