Trouble passing a varible to INSERT page
I'm a novice and I'm having trouble passing a varible from
one page into the database.
I ultimately want to pass the word "Appliances" into the
database field name called CATEGORY.
The user clicks on: www.xyz.com/main.cfm?category=Appliances
to go to the next page. Then the next page has a <form> in it
and that same page has <CFSET category=#category#>. But when
the form posts the info into the database with the <CFINSERT>
on the next page, CATEGORY is empty.
I've tried: CFSET form.category=#category#>, CFSET
form.category="#category#"> and some other things. I've even
thought of doing this: <FORM
ACTION="insert.cfm?category=#category#" method="post">, but that
didn't work either (I thought I was pretty smart when I thought of
that). :-)
Now, I have JUST learned that I can use the <INPUT
TYPE="hidden" NAME="category" VALUE="#category#"> to pass it BUT
why didnt a simple CFSET statement set the variable and pass it to
the CFINSERT?
Thanks in advance!! -Tony
yes, <cfinsert> tag only inserts FORM values, that is
values defined in
the FORM scope variables (form fields, effectively). it will
not insert
any values defined in any other scopes.
a form will POST (submit) only data in its fields. that is
why the
variable you set with CFSET is not submitted - it is not a
form field.
so in order to use cfinsert you must have all data you want
to insert
into db in form fields. as you have found out, you can have
hidden form
fields to post/submit data too.
you could also pass the variable as part of the query string
of the
action page: <form
action="youractionpage.cfm?yourvar=<cfoutput>#yourvar#</cfoutput>"
method="post">, but that variable will be available on the
action page
inside URL scope, not FORM scope. in order for CFINSERT to
insert that
variable in this case, just add <cfset form.yourvar =
url.yourvar>
BEFORE your CFINSERT tag on your action page.
et voila - your variable is part of the form scope now and
gets inserted
with cfinsert tag.
hope this helps.

How can i pass a varible from a page to another
Hello ,
if i have 2 pages for example
page1.php and page2.php
and i have a varible at page1.php "$x=10;"
and i want to pass it to page2.php to use it . How ???
bec. i am doing a site and a user enters his username and i
want to use that username at many pages .
Can someone please tell me an easy way to do that . thanks in
advanceA better way, without using SESSION variables, would be to
have one page
link to the next with something like this -
<a href="pagetwo.php?variable=<?php echo $x;
?>">Page two
Then on page 2 have -
<?php $x =
isset($_GET['variable'])?$_GET['variable']:FALSE; ?>
Now, the variable $x on page 2 contains the value of the
variable $x from
page 1.

Hi Frank,
You should close this parameters with single quotation. Try this -
Select '<a href="javascript:popUp2('''
|| 'f?p=&APP_ID.:950:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::'
|| 'P950_TYPE,P950_CODE:'
*|| 'descr, Met'*

Hope this helps.

How to insert a specific picture to an existing pdf using Insert Pages
I have created a plugin button which I want to call the "Insert page from another file" behaviour method when pressed. Passing in a specific image file which is stored on my local machine.
So the user pressed this button and they are immediately confronted with the following dialog.
My problem is trying to get this file from c:\Sunset.jpg and pass it into the Insert Pages Dialog.
Could anybody explain how I would go about doing this.
ThanksThanks @Ironsenth At least I know not to go down this route.
I am not wanting to add a Watermark, but was confused as to exactly what I have to send to this method as arguments. I asked very similar questions on other discussions but kept getting given solutions which were too broad when all I wanted was to know a few tiny details. -

You're going to give us more information for us to help you.
What operating system? What version of InDesign? What happens when you insert a page (and how are you choosing to insert a page)? Does it happen with just one file, or does also happen on a clean new file? -
Trouble with inserting pages in Adobe 9 Standard
"Insert Pages" function was not available when trying to insert pages: from file: is greyed out and the pdf's were created in Adobe 8 standard, did try the combine function using the merge function but the signatures were lost and it did state that it was better to do a portfolio but when doing the portfolio you are unable to select the display meaning how to look at the portfolio which is not good, because basically the insert pages function allows you to look at all pdf's together in a straight vertical line and the portfolio function you have to click one pdf at a time to really view the pdf even though they all show in the portfolio and they are displayed horizontal.
I would think that Adobe 9 standard is compatible with pdf's created in Adobe 8 standard there has to be a work around to insert pages and have the option to put them before or after the pdf's that are already there.
I am hoping someone can give some insight on this issue with Adobe 9 standard.You're going to give us more information for us to help you.

Passing a file from one page to another
Hello,
I have a page in the application, which uploads a file.
I need to pass this file to another page, where it's going to be inserted in the table with some other parameters.
Is there a way to do it in Apex?
for example a temporally table that could store the file for later use??
Thank you for consideration.Here is a good tutorial on BLOBS.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
You may want to upload your file to a file storage table with some sort of sequence. You can store the value of the sequence and pass it across to the next page and look it up to re-insert (or better yet just add a foreign key reference). -
How to insert page in Pages 5 document?
In previous versions of Pages, inserting a new page into an existing document was a trivial operation. In Pages 5, it's a total mystery. I opened a template containing text and images and played around with it to familiarize myself with the Pages 5; and somewhere along the line, I clicked on the Insert menu and discovered that the first menu option was "Page". So to insert a new page, one simply selects Insert > Page, right? Wrong! I passed this tip on to another Pages user who was unable to find the "Page" command in the Insert menu. I then tried to figure out how this option had become available in my test document, but I failed miserably. No matter what I do, I cannot figure out how to insert a new page in an existing Pages 5 document. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thanks!
⌘ is known as the Apple key, pretzel key or sometimes the propeller.
In Unicode it is encoded at U+2318 ⌘ place of interest sign
Outside of Apple circles it is called the Bowen knot:
You used to be able to get it by typing control q in the Chicago font , but that doesn't work with Unicode fonts.

ASP How do you go to a detail page from an insert page?
Hi
I'm building a site in asp and I have an insert page that
once submitted should go to a detail page of the record just
submitted. There is a unique ID field in the database that is
generated by the database. I was thinking that the unique ID is the
key but I'm not sure that I can pickup the id that is generated
when I insert the record. Any suggestions or pointers greatly
appreciated.
Thanks
flapperYou can use @@Identity in a SQL statement to grab the
recordID of the newly
created record, which you could then attach to a session
value for passing
to the next page.

]Hi,
actually this mapping only identifies those requests to be handled by teh JSF servlet. Its not a redirect.
I see several namespace definitions in your page, but no taglib reference. Wondering how this is supposed to work
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html" prefix="afh"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af"%>
I assume the next crash you will see is when you add JSF components to
<f:view>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
<title>tt</title>
</head>
<body><h:form></h:form></body>
</html>
</f:view>
Note that mixing HTML elements with JSF is not a recommended approach

I'm having trouble passing a variable value called from a CFC
into Flex via RemoteObject. Basically I'm trying to pass the
current logged-in user to a Combobox as a string. The Web directory
in IIS is set to dissallow anonymous access and is set to
Integrated Windows Authentication. The CFC is in the secured
directory as well as the Flex app. If I change the CGI variable to
something like #cgi.remote_addr# among others it works fine so I
know it's not the actionScript or CFC code. Any ideas as to why
#cgi.auth_user# is passing as an empty string?? One more caveat. If
I invoke the function in my CFC from a .cfm page the auth_user is
displayed as expected.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------To use RemoteObject with PHP you need to download AMFPHP and
make some settings.
To download go here:
null.
To understand how to use it with Flex go here:
null.
This is a video tutorial of about 7-10 minutes which will show you
all you need you need to know to set AMFPHP in 'conversation' with
Flex.

<form id="form1" name="form1" method="post">

How to pass date parameter from one page to other in BSP application
Hello gurus,
In my BSP application i have taken an input field and made its type "date" and its value also of type date and have set showhelp .
Now once a particular date is given as an input i want to pass its value to next page. And in next page i have to fire a query based on the date entered in previous page...
Now my prb is that my date value is not getting passed to the next page.
I have used
navigation->set_parameter( name = 'BEGDA' value = BEGDA ).
to pass date parameter.....still parameter is not getting passed.
plz help me with this.....
thankx.....Hi Eddy,
By truncation i mean the entire date becomes 10 char including the ' . ' eg(06.12.2006).
so with begda being 8chars it takes my date as 06.12.200
as a result my query is not getting executed.
now i have tried to use a FM 'CONVERT_DATE_TO_INTERN_FORMAT'.
in my 1st page but still in 2nd page its giving me following error.
<b>The data that was read could not be written to the specified target field during a SELECT access. Either the conversion is not supported for the type of the target field, or the target field is too short to accept the value, or the data is not in the appropriateformat for the target field.
</b>

Passing parameters from one OAF page to another OAF PAge
Hello
I was wondering, if there is a possibility of passing request parameters from one page to another page in EBS ( E-Business Suite).
I tried using the following
a) PageContext.putParamater ( "MyParamater", "ParamaterValue")
b) I addded the above line of code by extending an page controller of the OAF page and personalized the page
When I am trying to retrieve the value by getParameter() in the next page. I am also unable to get access to the parameter in the next page.
I am trying the above code while trying to create expenses in I-Expense module...I would like to pass the ReportHeaderId from one page to another page for customization purposes. I Am not able to get ReportHeaderId in the ReviewPAge...There are no Business Objects in the Review page...hence trying the putParameter idea.
Any help will be highly appreciated
Thank YouWhat is the source of the parameter? If the source is a VO, you can use the method I have specified in my previous post regarding updating the button properties. For example, you can include the param in the destination URL of the button as such:
OA.jsp?page=/xyz/oracle/apps/.../myPG&retainAM=Y&addBreadCrumb=Y&myParam={@ParamSource}
where ParamSource is an attribute from a VO.
You can get this value via oapagecontext.getParameter()
Can you please give details as to the source of your params (param-1, param-2, etc.). This will help in providing you suggestions.

Pass parameters from JSP Dyn Page to WDJ Application
Hi,
I am trying to pass parameters from my JSPDyn Page to WDJ Application.
I am using NWDS 7.1 EHP1
My code is :
function to_WEBDYNHK()
EPCM.relaxDocumentDomain();
EPCM.doNavigate
('ROLES://pcd:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?DynamicParameter="hkparam%3Dqwertyuio"');
This method is being called on click of a button.
hkparam is the parameter in question.
The JSPDyn page is an iView and the WDJ application is a page and both have been assigned to a role.
In the properties of the WDJ Page, I have removed DymanicParameter from "Do not Forward These Parameters To Web Dynpro" property.
However I am getting null as the value of hkparam in my WDJ application.
The code used is :
IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
String param1= request.getParameter("hkparam");
What seems to be missing here.
Please help.
I went through the documentation on SDN but it does not seem to help.
TIA,
HimanshuHi Himanshu,
Try this code.
EPCM.doNavigate("ROLES:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?hkparam=Dmypass1123")
if the parameter is hkparam and the value to be passed is Dmypass1123. You need not change any design time property of the WD page, and WDProtocolAdapter should retrive the parameter.

Vishweshwara P.K.M.
