Troubleshooting Ringtones

I can't get the ringtones feature to work with iTunes since it says that it requires me to connect to the iTunes Service Disclaimer but then when I go there there's no option to accept the disclaimer to allow me to start creating ringtones. What am I to do?

iTunes ringtones is down at the moment (probably due to high demand on the server). You get the screen, but no option to proceed further. Try later.
Alternatively, try this:
1. open iTunes and log in
2. go to the store and choose account
3. click on reset warnings
4. locate a song you've already purchased that has the bell symbol indicating the ringtone option and click buy.
5. a pop up box will ask you if you want to purchase - choose yes
6. TOS will pop up - scroll to the bottom put a check mark by accept and proceed.

  • Troubleshooting ringtone/sounds after 1.0.1. update

I recently update my iphone w/the the 1.0.1 and since then, my ringer has not worked. The other notifications (email, text, etc) do not work either. When i receive an incoming call, my phone only vibrates. My ipod, alarm clocks still function. I have tried resetting the phone to it's original setting, turning it off & on, going to the general settings to make sure everything is on, but nothing has worked. Please help! I keep missing all my calls!

Since 1.0.1 vibrate does not work on my phone, but ringtones still do! I've tried reseting, but not restoring. The phone does not vibrate at power up as it did prior to 1.0.1. I'm waiting for the next update to see if things improve before calling Apple since I seldom need to be silent.

  • My iPhone 4 will not let me play my music I bought on iTunes or pandora or YouTube with out my headphones or speakers plugged in. I can play my ringtone without them plugged in but that's all. Also my iPhone will not turn off. Please help

I tried resisting my phone it didnt work. Please help? This is the first time it has ever happens and has been doing it for a week. The sound will only play without headphones or speakers is when I'm listening to my ringtone. And my phone won't turn off. It turns off then just turns back on.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • IPhone 5 not being recognized in iTunes (Mac). I have the latest Software update for iTunes, my iPhone, and my Mac. I have gone through the iTunes connectivity troubleshooting, no luck. Any suggestions/solutions?

The reason I found this problem is that I did a complete reset of my iPhone, so it reset all the content, through settings on the phone. That ended up deleting the ringtones I had. I tried searching up the same tones, however you can't "Install" already purchased stuff like you can in the AppStore.
I can't "iTunes wifi-sync" because you need to have connected at least once to the computer before you can wifi-sync, but because I reset my phone, it doesn't "remember" it once synced with my Mac cause I reset it.
I have gone through the "iTunes connectivity troubleshooting", nothing worked.
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_1
My iPhone charges fine with the USB-Wall outlet adapter, so its not the lightning connector or the USB connector on the other end of the cord.
All the USB ports on my Mac are functionning (working with other cords for printers, etc.), but still the iPhone persists not to be recognized in iTunes.
So I am guessing iTunes is the problem.
Any Help, Solutions, Suggestions, would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I had not tried that article, however I already went throught the troubleshooting assistant, which covers everything that article has.
I am about to try to delete and re-install iTunes though, which was mentioned in your artile link.
    Thanks for the help.
    I'll post my findings/results.

  • How can I sync the music and ringtones I want from my Mac to my iPhone?

I have an iMac, an iPhone 5s, iTunes 11.1.x, iCloud and iTunes Match. I can't find a combination that will put the music, smart playlists, and ringtones I want on the iPhone. At first iTunes wouldn't sync my ringtones or my smart playlists the iPhone. I finally got the ringtones on but it stubbornly refused to sync a smart playlist of my unrated songs. I turned off iTunes Match and iCloud syncing and managed to get the smart playlist on, but now the ringtones are gone again, including the ones I purchased recently from the ITMS. All I want to do is sync the music, playlists, ringtones, etc. from my master iTunes library on my iMac to my iPhone. The vast majority of my music (7000+ songs) was purchased through iTunes. Some of the ringtones I created from iTunes purchases, some were purchased and downloaded outright. I only care about iCloud as it relates to backing up my contacts, calendar and bookmarks. What combination of turn this on, turn that off and check this box will do this for me? Thanks.

Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

  • Issue with playing ringtones in iTunes with Windows 7

For some reason I am having an issue playing ringtones I've created via my iTunes library. It keeps prompting me to authorize my computer so I can play the ringtone in iTunes but my computer is already authorized (I run Windows 7, iTunes 9.0.3 and only have the one computer authorized). I deauthorized the previous computer the library was on when I purchased the one I currently use and haven't had any other issues. Despite not being able to play the ringtones in iTunes, they transfer and play on my iPhone and all other purchases in iTunes are playing as well. I've tried the various troubleshooting tips listed on this site (i.e. changing user account settings, de-authorizing then re-authorizing etc) to no avail.

I have the exact same problem, on a MacBook 10.6.2, iTunes 9.0.3. I went to the genius bar, and reported the problem through the iTunes Store. After some boilerplate troubleshooting recommendations, I finally got a response that "ringtones will not play in iTunes, they will skip over them".
This is definitely not how it used to handle ringtones, it is unclear to me if they are saying this is a bug, or an intentional deprecation of iTunes' function. I would recommend staying away from iTunes created ringtones, self made ones still preview fine in iTunes.

  • Trying to locate/reload my ringtones after hard drive re-imaged

My hard drive was recently re-imaged. Prior to this, I copied my entire music folder to an external hard drive.
After reinstalling iTunes, I recreated my iTunes Library, and my music was back. I also sync'd my iPhone to Outlook and was able to recreate my calendar, contacts, etc. However, my ringtones did not appear in iTunes. They were still on my phone.
I tried to transfer purchases, but the ringtones didn't transfer. Then I tried to sync it with the iPhone. (MISTAKE) and now the ringtones are gone from the iPhone.
Can I get these back somehow? Where in the library are the ringtones located? I have a few database files still on my external hard drive, and I'm hoping one of these has the ringtones I'm missing. But, I'm afraid to recreate the Library again, causing something else to be overwritten or disappear.
It's probably better to just re-create and re-pay for the ringtones since there were only 3 of them.
I also keep getting the error that the iPhone is currently sync'd to another library. (the old one from before the pc was re-imaged??)
    Thanks.

Are you referring to the serial number? If so make sure you're entering it correctly. Given the length of the serial number and the similarities between O and 0 and 1 and l it's easy to make a mistake.
See Troubleshooting Professional Application Serial Numbers and if that doesn't help try Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers for a way to get a new number.
    good luck

  • My ringtone won't work or any of my other sounds

Got a brand new iPhone and no sounds are working including ringtone, lock and unlock sound and I can't listen to music.

Make certain the mute switch is not on, there should be no red dot showing.
If a bluetooth headset is connected, all sounds will go through the headset.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Ringtone is not showing up on my iphone4 when i drag and drop.

    Hi

    Hey khdewey,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPod touch being recognized in iTunes on your Mac. The following resource may provide a solution:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591
Note: This article is for Mac OS X users. If you're using a Windows PC, please refer to these troubleshooting suggestions.
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
    1. Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    2. Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
    3. Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
    4. Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    5. Restart your Mac.
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens and you're using Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, please follow these steps.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Itunes install hangs due to ringtones.xib error?

When I try to upgrade or uninstall then reinstall Itunes 7.7, I get an error statement that reads:
error writing to file C:\program files\itunes\itunes.resources\ko.lproj\ringtone.nib\objects.xib. Verify that you have access to that directory
I have Windows XP and I am the only one with an account on this computer. Any ideas?

Why use the STATIC flag? Doing so overwrites the patch-in-place function
This is by design. The machines being built are on a closed network that will throw security alerts whenever unexpected network calls are made (e.g. an auto update poll).
    Can you just run <installer> /s ?
As part of the troubleshooting process I have run it with all flags in all combinations, including the basic "/s". The dialog is thrown regardless.
If there's a problem, maybe you should try the offline installer?
This is the offline installer. It's not exactly offline. Quite exasperating to be honest.

  • My iphone 4 says it can't connect to itunes store when I want to buy a ringtone for it.

  • I have a ringtone that is not showing up in the voicemail list in settings?

    IOS5  Iphone 4
I have a ringtone that I would like to have a as a ringtone when someone leaves a  new voicemail message.
The ringtone is installed on the iphone.  I can select it as a ringtone for phone calls in settings........ no problem.....
But when I go to settings on the iphone, the "new voicemail" ringtone option, the one ringtone that I want to use does not show up in the list.
All of my other ringtones are available accept the one I want to use? I have a total of 6 custom ringtones. 5 show up in "new Voicemail" drop down...

Here are the steps, from an Apple note. You said the eject key didn't work and there was nothing to drag to the trash ....
Try to eject discs using the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, holding down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-3 again.
If the disc still does not eject, for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service pleasecontact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with anApple Retail Store.

  • Is anyone having problem with ringtone repeatition????

I m facing this problem from the day i have buy dis iPhone 4s....its very irritating when u listen any message tone in a repeatition voice.....

Is this a stock or custom ringtone? What troubleshooting steps have you done? User troubleshooting begins with powering the phone off/on, if that doesn't help, then a reset by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release, if that doesn't help, this does not affect data. Then a restore, first from a backup and if that doesn't help, then restore as a new device or not from a backup. The restore will affect your data, will effectively erase everything on the phone and install new firmware and if from a backup will use the backup to put everything back on the phone. If you do a restore as a new device, it will do the same except you would have to sync all of your data back, so make sure everything is synced up as it should be to all of the supported applications (calendar/contacts).

  • Only one ringtone works for all contacts despite them having separate rings

I have 25 rings (is that too much?)
And 33 contacts. The majority of them have their own ringtone.
However, despite me assigning them a ringtone-- only one tone (the one assigned under "Sounds" plays for all of them.
I didn't have this problem before.

You said you did not have this problem "Before", before what? What changed?
33 is no too much, I have 50-60 or so, w/o issue.
    Try Resetting the iPhone
Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.
I have not seen this issue before, so basic troubleshooting may help.
