Trunking between separate buildings with same vlan numbering scheme

Hello
I have (2) warehouses physically next to each other.
Each warehouse has it's own WAN link
My Vlan design is the same across all my sites where each site has (Vlan 10 - 15) using a site specific subnet ip scheme.
I am now going to run a fiber link between my (2) warehouses and can create a trunk between the sites.
I am pretty sure of the answer but I think I am going to have to re-vlan one of the warehouses so I can add each sites vlans to the trunk.
That seems like a mid-major overhaul to one of the sites
Does anyone have any experience with this type of design and provide some guidance on steps to follow?

Many thanks, Jon. You are correct, I had not mentioned my intent to move servers around, originally.
What is not working, is that I cannot ping Houston from Atlanta and viceversa. For example, If I am logged into the ATL switch, I try to ping the HOU switch, but get no reply. In this example, Let's say that ATL switch is 10.11.1.2.. If I try to ping 10.11.2.2 (HOU) nothing. 10.11.1.x traffic should be tagged as vlan 10 in ATL, and 10.11.2.x should be NOW tagged as vlan 112 in HOU.

  • AP groups with same vlans , same ssid but different subnet.

    Hi Members,
I have a Cisco Flex 7500 in my datacenter and I need to connect 100 sites , each site with 2-3 APs , each side has its own network and is independent of other sites , the site only need to comunity locally and do not need to access any centralized applications.
I am trying to achieve this by Creating 100  different AP groups and assiging 2-3 AP in each groups for each branch, I will achieve WAN failover resiliency by creating flexconnect groug , the issue I am facing are as below .
1.Since all the sites has same setup , the AP and clients on all sites are in vlan 2 , so when I try to create 2 or more AP group with same vlan, it restricts me of doing so , I cannot create diffrent AP groups mapped to same Vlan .
2.If I keep the APs and Clients in the same subnet , I dont think it should be a problem , but I need your second opinion.
to give you an even better picture , look at the topology enclosed , and my question is if both STAFF and STUDENT APs are in same vlan but in 2 different broadcast domain , how would I create the AP groups.
    Thank you

Thanks for the reply Jenn , here is my situation.
I have 2 sites lets day , site A in virginia ,  site B in Maryland.
    SiteA - 10.1.1.0/24 - vlan 2
               10.1.2.0/24 - vlan 3
10.1.3.0/30 - WAN to central site where controller sits.
    SiteB - 10.2.1.0/24 - vlan 2
               10.2.2.0/24 - vlan 3
10.2.3.0/30 - WAN to central site where controller sits.
both the sites will have a single ssid "XYZ" and will switch locally only.
howin my understanding the way I will deploy this is as below
1.I will create WLAN with ssid "XYZ".
2.I will create 2 AP groups lets say "Site-A" and "Site-B"
3.I will map the APs in site A to AP group "Site-A" and APs in Site B to "Site-B"
4.I will create 2 dynamic interfaces one for each AP group , now this is where I am facing problem , when I am creating dynamin interfaces , I need to specify the subnet and vlans when creating dynamic interfaces , since the vlans used is same on both sites , its not letting me create 2 interfaces with same vlan id.
in my understanding HREAP is only majorly used for WAN failover and local authentication so I am not concerned about that right not , my prime work is to udnerstand the AP group and working.
if you still need print shot let me know I will have to go at site.
also validate if my thinking is right on the 4 steps I have mentioned above , I am new to wireless and whatever I have learned I have learned in last 10 days .
    Appreciate your help.
    Thank you

  • Idocs processing time between 2 idocs with same material

    Hi Gurus
we are getting 2 idocs from other system with same material, first idoc is process successfully, second one is not processing and error throughing - material is currently processing by user WF BATCH. can we set time gap between 2 idocs for processing, where we need to do this?
    Thanks in Advance
    Ramki

    Hi Ramki,
There is another option which you can consider with the help of an ABAPPER. Check if you can use the concept of enqueing.
Ex: When the idoc comes in the SAP system and updates the material quantity in the sales order, it has to get in to the VA02 in order to do this. Now when another idoc is sent along with this simulataneously to update something in the same order, it fails as the order is open by the first idoc.
In this case we write a check in the posting program and check if the order (Order number we get from the idoc) is open or enqued.
If it is enqued then there is a delay by calling an event. This event triggers a job which has a certain delay inserted in it before running.
    Hope this helps..

  • 2 spreads with same page numbers

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with indesign: I have 2 spreads in the document with the same page numbers (even in the pages panel).
I created one new spread and placed it before the other.
This is a problem since the page numbering inherit this.
I tried to solve it myself, then I googled the problem, but i found nothing.
Anyone knows how to solve it?
    Thanks!

The small black triangle above the second page 4 is a new section marker. In the pages panel highlight the second page 4 then select numbering and section options and change the start page to 6.
Oops I sent this before I saw your second post.

  • Cant communicate between nodes on the same vlan but on different switches (cat/nexus)

Very odd situation that I cant quite figure out.
I have two nexus switches connecte together with PO5
Each Nexus has PO6 which connects to a Cat3750
The nodes are all on vlan 46.
Nodes that are connected to the nexus switches can ping each other but cant ping other nodes on the cat. switch.
Here is an oddity. Nodes on the CAT switch CAN ping nodes on the nexus switches.
It would appear that the nodes on the nexus (or the switches themselves) do not get the arp requests.
Oddity 2. When I do show vpc I see on one of the nexus vlan 46 is active
id     Port        Status Consistency Reason                     Active vlans
    6      Po6         up     success     success                    1,31,34,46,200,600-605
When I look at the other switch I dont see vlan 46.
id     Port        Status Consistency Reason                     Active vlans
    6      Po6         up     success     success                    1,31,34,200,600-605
Comparing the configs I dont see a difference between the two (eyeballing sho run)
Here are the running configs for PO6 on both switches (identical)
    MTL-N3548COLO-1# sho run int po6
    interface port-channel6
      switchport mode trunk
      spanning-tree port type normal
      speed 1000
      vpc 6
Not sure what I am missing. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Drew

Your setup with vMotion on a separate subnet is absolutely correct. For the vMotion issues I'd suggest you google for vMotion 14% which will list a couple of KB articles with possible issues and resolutions/workarounds.

  • [boxir2-sp4] two separate CMS with same cluster name

How can I change the current cluster name.  Currently have two separate CMS on two separate servers but with the same cluster name.  They both show up on each others CMC -> Servers page.  This was not our intention.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

Login to CCM, stop CMS server, go to it's properties, go to Configuration tab, check "change cluster name box" and type new cluster name, click apply, OK, start CMS. Done
Make absolutly sure that each CMS is pointing to it's own CMS DB !!!

  • Does alias exist to differentiate between 2 classes with same name?

I have 2 classes (a domainmodel-class and a webpage-class) with the same name. Of course I get a naming-conflict when I want to reference the domainmodel-class from the webpage-class (because they have the same name).
I was wondering if there's a language construct in java to import my domainmodel-class under a different name / alias in the webpage-class.
Of course I could simply rename my webpage-class, but that has some impact which I'd rather avoid.
    Thanks,

Geert-JanNo, you can't do that. But one class can be imported, and the other one be used with fully qualified name all of the time.

  • Distringuishing between 2 classes with same name

    Hi,
I have just recently begun programming in Java on a software project with more than one programmer. On of my coworkers had us use the directory structure such that our packages are name with our domain backwards (ie, an example package is gov.lanl.gui). He was under the impression that by structuring things in this manner one would not have to worry about duplicate class names. So to test it he made a class called Point (knowing such a class existed in the Java API). When he tried to compile the code the compiler was confused as to which Point.java he wanted to use.
Is there a way to reconcile this without having to make sure a class doesn't already exist with the same name?
    thanks,
    Keri

I am confused by the statement:
When he tried to compile the code the compiler
was confused as to which Point.java he wanted to use.Why would there be more than one Point.java on his workstation? Did he extract the src.jar to his local file system? Please post the actual compiler error.
He is correct that the package structure allows for two different classes to have the same name. If you import java.util.* and java.sql.* into a class and then try to reference the Date class you will get a complier error. This is because there is a java.util.Date class and also a java.sql.Date class. This is one of the reasons that you shouldn't usually import an entire package. Another is that it can make complilation really slow. If you have to import both classes you can do so using the entire package structure in front of the class name e.g.
    java.util.Date utilDate;
    java.sql.Date sqlDate;

  • Function not found when package name exists with same name as schema name

Hi all, any help would be appreciated :)
I found an issue with pl/sql resolving a functions location when the db has a package name with the same as the db schema name.
    My example:
-- arbitrary test function, not in any package
    create or replace FUNCTION testFunc
         inTest     IN VARCHAR2
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN 'a';
    END;
-- There is a package called "FM" with functions that are not referenced or used in this example and the db schema is "FM".
-- The following PL/SQL fails with the message: "ORA-00904: "FM"."TESTFUNC": invalid identifier"
    select cursor (select testFunc('a') from dual) from dual;
    -- The following PL/SQL works:
    select * from (select testFunc('a') from dual);
As mentioned the function testFunc is NOT in the FM package. This issue does not happen when I remove the FM package. So it seems like there is an issue with cursors calling functions when there exists any package with the same name as the db schema.
Can anyone tell me why this happens and also what I can add to force the function that is not in any package to be referenced (without Oracle trying to look in the FM package)?
    DB: Oracle 11.2.0.2
    thanks!
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
In general I would not advice to have schema and objects with the same name.
Here is what documentation is saying here: How Name Resolution Differs in PL/SQL and SQL
PL/SQL uses the same name-resolution rules as SQL when the PL/SQL compiler processes a SQL statement, such as a DML statement. For example, for a name such as HR.JOBS, SQL matches objects in the HR schema first, then packages, types, tables, and views in the current schema.
PL/SQL uses a different order to resolve names in PL/SQL statements such as assignments and subprogram calls. In the case of a name HR.JOBS, PL/SQL searches first for packages, types, tables, and views named HR in the current schema, then for objects in the HR schema. As you can see above when using PL/SQL for your case Oracle searches first for packages, types, tables, and views named FM in the current schema, then for objects in the FM schema.
And because a package FM is found it is raising an error due to the fact that the procedure could not be found in that package.
    I hope this clarify.
    Regards.

    Dear Netprof,
Wondering if anyone has managed to do this in practice.
I have two sites separate by a LES100 circuit, which is currently configured as a trunk.
    I have 2 x 3750G-48-SMI's at each site (total of 4).
I want to have the same vlan numbering at each site, i.e vlans 10, 20, 30, etc for users and vlans 100, 200, 300 for servers then another load of vlans for DMZ and market feeds.
The same VLANs would be presented at both sites.
Is it possible to setup HSRP so that on each stack inter-VLAN routing can occur on each site if the LES 100 fails.
Any web links would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards, adrian.

Hi, many thanks for your assistance on this.
I totally agree, the best way would be to have a different default gateway configured at each site. However I have all the client machines with static addresses and this would involve a lot of work.
The vlans that are split between the sites has the majority of users at one site, so vlan 10 would have 95% of the users at site 1 and vlan 20 would have 95% of the users at site 2.
I was planning on balancing the HSRP between the switches so on vlan 10 the primary switch (active) would be at site 1 and secondary (standby) would be at site 2. The reverse configuration would be used for vlan 20.
I am thinking along the lines of something like this for the config, can I have your thoughts?
    Site 1
    Interface vlan 10
    Ip address 192.168.10.2 255.255.255.0
    Standby 1 ip 192.168.10.1
    standby 1 priority 110
    standby 1 preempt
    Interface vlan 20
    Ip address 192.168.20.2 255.255.255.0
    Standby 2 ip 192.168.20.1
    Interface vlan 30
    Ip address 192.168.30.2 255.255.255.0
    Standby 3 ip 192.168.30.1
    standby 3 priority 110
    standby 3 preempt
    Interface vlan 40
    Ip address 192.168.40.2 255.255.255.0
    Standby 4 ip 192.168.40.1
    Site 2
    Interface vlan 10
    Ip address 192.168.10.3 255.255.255.0
    Standby 1 ip 192.168.10.1
    Interface vlan 20
    Ip address 192.168.20.3 255.255.255.0
    Standby 2 ip 192.168.20.1
    standby 2 priority 110
    standby 2 preempt
    Interface vlan 30
    Ip address 192.168.30.3 255.255.255.0
    Standby 3 ip 192.168.30.1
    Interface vlan 40
    Ip address 192.168.40.3 255.255.255.0
    Standby 4 ip 192.168.40.1
    standby 4 priority 110
    standby 4 preempt
I thought CEF should only need to route the first packet and all remaining packets in the flow should be switched (not routed) ?
    Thank again for your assistance.
    Regards, Adrian.

  • SQL 2008 how to compare & identify data among 2 tables with same structure ?

Hello is there a TSQL way of comparing row by row for example comparing DateTimeStamp field in 2 separate tables with same structure in identifying if it's data was changed (If Table1.DateField > Table2.DateField THEN UPDATE it's entire row to match it's
    corresponding Table1 row.) ?
Probably thinking would need a cursor to loop through or are there other better ways via TSQL ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am assuming you have a PRIMARY KEY field or a UNIQUE field in both tables, which you should!
You can do this using "UPDATE with INNER JOIN". (SQL Server – Update Table with INNER JOIN)
    Working example:
    USE [TestDatabase]
    GO
    /* Create Temp Tables */
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Table1]
    [ID] INT
    ,[Name] VARCHAR(10)
    ,[ModifyDate] DATETIME
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Table2]
    [ID] INT
    ,[Name] VARCHAR(10)
    ,[ModifyDate] DATETIME
    GO
INSERT INTO [dbo].[Table1] ([ID], [Name], [ModifyDate]) VALUES (1, 'Vishal', GETDATE())
INSERT INTO [dbo].[Table2] ([ID], [Name], [ModifyDate]) VALUES (1, 'Gajjar', GETDATE() + 1)
    GO
SELECT [ID], [Name], [ModifyDate] FROM [dbo].[Table1]
SELECT [ID], [Name], [ModifyDate] FROM [dbo].[Table2]
    GO
    UPDATE T1
    SET T1.[Name] = T2.[Name]
    FROM [dbo].[Table1] T1
    INNER JOIN [dbo].[Table2] T2 ON T1.[ID] = T2.[ID] /* Join on Key field */
    WHERE T2.[ModifyDate] > T1.[ModifyDate] /* Update criteria */
    GO
    /* CleanUp - Drop Tables
    DROP TABLE [dbo].[Table1], [dbo].[Table2]
This Updates Table1 with latest values from Table2, You need to change the UPDATE statement for your scenario.

  • Multiple apps with same name

With all the trouble I've been having with App Store update inconsistencies, I went and looked at the directory where the .ipa files are stored. (These are the actual application files.) I was already aware of the multiple generations of files that are kept in the directory when apps are updated, but I noticed something else...
There are some applications that have the same name. In my case, I have more than one Solitaire game simply called "Solitaire" and I have more than one Sudoku game with the name "Sudoku". It looks like the way iTunes differentiates them is by giving them generational number. For example, one Sudoku program is called "Sudoku.ipa", and another is called "Sudoku 1.ipa". Then if there is an update to the first program, it gets the new name "Sudoku 2.ipa". You can see that different programs have different files sizes, but by looking at names there is no way to tell which is which.
I wonder if this factors into some of the problems with application updates and synching them to the iPhone? It seems odd that the same sequential numbering scheme is used for two different purposes: 1. Distinguishing different applications that have the same file name, and 2. Keeping multiple generations of the same program in the directory. It could get pretty confusing.

If I delete extra .ipa files when two different applications have the same name, then I need to keep track of which is the current version of what. "Sudoku 4.ipa" might be the latest version of one program, and "Sudoku 7.ipa" could be the latest version of another.
I wish Apple would create a naming scheme where every application has a unique name, and sequential generations are not used. This would make it much cleaner, and there would be no ambiguity as to either which program is which, or which version is which.
I find the safest way to get rid of all the dups is to just delete them all and re-download the app. The bugs in iTunes still make a mess of things, though.

  • 3750 bandwidth limitation between the same vlan over the trunk

    Hi All,
I have 2 3750G series switches on the trunk link. some machines are part of vlan1 on the switch 1 and some machines are the part of the same vlan1 on the other switch2. I need to limit the bandwidth between the switches for the vlan1. picture is attached.
I tried to do through the modulare policy frame work (class-map/service-map and policy-map using the police command) but problems are
    1) 3750 does not support output service policy, so i cannot apply the policy on the output of the trunk link.
    2) I can apply the input policy but it will be only for one machine but not for the others on the same switch. if i apply the policy on per port basis then every port has separate bw limitation. I require to limit the bandwidth on per vlan basis on the trunk port. like vlan 1 takes 10 MB, VLAN2 takes 10 MB on the trunk link when communicating between the same vlans.
Is there any solution for that scenario? your help in this case will be higly appriciated. As its the layer 2 communication, its hard for me to find the solution. if it was layer 3 then i can do it easily by using the rate-limit commmand on the interface.
    thanks

On the 4500 series we use vlan-range for this,
    conf t
    qos aggregate-policer 10MB 10 mbps 1250000 byte conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
    policy-map 10MB
    class class-default
    police aggregate 10MB
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,12,15
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
    vlan-range 1
    service-policy input 10MB
    service-policy output 10MB
    end
dunno if the 3750's have the same options

  • Configure Trunk carrying same Vlans on two separate uplinks on Cisco 3845

    Hi,
I need to carry 2 vlans(x & y) in a trunk to two separate redundant devices uplinked to Cisco 3845 on Fa1/0 and Fa1/1. I know I can create sub-interfaces on one of the uplink interfaces(i-e Fa1/0) with 2 distinct 802.1q vlans(Fa1/0.x & Fa1/0.y). But is there a way I can carry same vlans(x & y) trunked to my 2nd redundant device uplinked on 3845 from Fa2/0 ? If not then how should I get the 2nd redundant device uplinked to this 3845 router.
    Any tips.. ?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

IF both links are going to the same device then you can create a Layer 3 Etherchannel.
