Trying To Connecting Tables

Hi,
I have a recipes section in the site I'm building with DW CS4. There are 7 categories from which a user can pick (Desserts, Drinks, etc).
The first page of each category has a form on it for users to enter a new recipe. Once they've entered a new recipe, it's supposed to be sent to a new page (one for each recipe), and the title of it is shown above the form. Here's where the problem starts.
I entered two dummy titles as a trial run into the Desserts Form, Apple and Blueberry. The titles are showing up above the form, but no matter which title I click on, I am taken to the page for Apple. And the thing is, when I click on Blueberry, the url address shows Blueberry as the recipe ID. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening, and/or what is missing from the code?
There are two separate tables in my database, Recipes, and Categories, and each one has "Title" as the first field. The second table was created after I made the SQL connection in Dreamweaver.
Thank you.
This is the SQL Join that I have on both the main desserts page, and the one to which a recipe should appear on:
$query = "SELECT title".
"FROM recipes, categories".
"WHERE recipes.cat_id = categories.cat_id";
"AND category = desserts";
Here's the code on the Main Desserts page that I'm guessing is where changes need to be made:
Desserts
Drinks
Fowl
Meat
Pasta
Seafood
Vegetables
<?php do { ?>
<?php echo $row_GetRecipes['Title']; ?>
<?php } while ($row_GetRecipes = mysqlfetchassoc($GetRecipes)); ?>
">Previous Showing<?php echo ($startRow_GetRecipes + 1) ?>...<?php echo min($startRow_GetRecipes + $maxRows_GetRecipes, $totalRows_GetRecipes) ?> out of <?php echo $totalRows_GetRecipes ?> ">Next

Since you are using client to import table is it not required in local for tnsnames.ora?
For server you have set that helps after hosting the rpd file, I hope you are not using online mode to import table if you are doing that I dont think that will work...
Try to use your connection details something like below
Call Interface: Default (OCI 10g/11g)
Data source Name->localhost:1521/XE
If helps mark or else let us know your basic test to connect to database like tnsping from command etc..

  • Database account locked as it tries to connect different ports for 16 times

    I need a help in answering one of the issue encountered last week.
    I have created a database link and tried to access the information from a table using the program written in another language. The password provided was incorrect for that user while creating database link. So we expected that,while retrieving the data, Database connection has to be errored out as password provided is incorrrect.
    But unfortunately, user account was locked out. When i checked with DBAs they mentioned that it tries to connect 16 ports with in a min of time.we were shocked as it STOPS another scheduled jobs with that user. and affects production badly.
    As per the program, it has to connect only one time and yesterday we tried to execute the program in DBAs observation and it errored out as expected. Didn't tried for multiple ports.
    Now the question is, WHY the database connection established 16 times last week and caused user account locked. DBAs are unable to answer it. Any EXPERTs opinion on this would greatly appreciated.
    I have verified managing ports in oracle documentation, it was mentioned that if one port is busy it will try to connect to another port in the range of ports mentioned during the installtion. DBAs verified ports related file and it was blank. and they are not agreeing with this reason. Please HELP me in finding the correct REASON for this.
    is it a NETWORK issue or issue with DATABASE SERVER only?
    Thanks

    “iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.” Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so …
    iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
    Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
    Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
    Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
    Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
    Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
    Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
    Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

    NOTE:  no password for iTunes exists in my Keychain. Is this a problem?
    Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
    Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes.  Very strange.

  • Trying to connect to Oracle using Web App

    Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone here can help. This question goes out to anyone who has tried to connect to an Oracle database via web application written using Java Server Pages and Servlets. There is a specific file called the context.xml that contains the connection parameters to Oracle. Please note thread of conversation derived from a Java forum I've posted to earlier.
    The bottom line is that "orcl" is the SID value for the Oracle database. The connection pool apparently isn't able to create connection objects based on the SID value given. When I attempt to run the test.jsp page in the browser I get the error message noted below. I still don't know how to fix this and simply must get it working.
    Any advise is welcome.
    Alan
    I'm putting together a test page test.jsp in Tomcat that attempts to access my Oracle database running on the same machine. The point here is just to make sure I have the connection parameters correctly set before proceeding too far into the web application.
    In my context.xml file I have the following:
    <Resource name="jdbc/myoracle" auth="Container"
                  type="javax.sql.DataSource" driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
                  url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcl"
                  username="BASIC_USER" password="tiger" maxActive="6" maxIdle="3"
                  maxWait="10000"/> In my web.xml file I have the following:
    <resource-ref>
          <description>Oracle Datasource example</description>
          <res-ref-name>jdbc/myoracle</res-ref-name>
          <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
          <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>My test.jsp page simply attempts to open a connection with the database and to display data from one table.
    When I go into the browser to open the page I get the following SQLExceptioin error:
    SQL Problem: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor )
    SQL State: null
    Vendor Error: 0
    It refers to the SID value in the descriptor. Well...you can see from the descriptor that I've written "orcl". That is the SID. url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcl"
    At this point I'm spinning my wheels. I don't know what else to do to make this work.
    Please advise.

    Click to email this message
    Oracle docs say:
    ORA-12505:TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
    Cause: The listener received a request to establish a connection to a database or other service. The connect descriptor received by the listener specified a SID for an instance (usually a database instance) that either has not yet dynamically registered with the listener or has not been statically configured for the listener. This may be a temporary condition such as after the listener has started, but before the database instance has registered with the listener.
    Action:
    - Wait a moment and try to connect a second time.
    - Check which instances are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>
    - Check that the SID parameter in the connect descriptor specifies an instance known by the listener.
    - Check for an event in the listener.log file.

    So, according to this orcl is the correct SID parameter. Please advise further.

    In the ReportDocument.Load method it tries to connect using the using the connection information embedded in the Report File. When the application calls ReportDocument.Load(reportFileName). This
    tries to connect to the database using the connection information embedded in
    the "reportFileName". This was only realised on checking the ODBC Trace
    Log. The connection itself is not a problem. The problem is that the embedded
    connection information is related to OLD production system. And failed
    connections had raised some concerns.
    Note: I am using

    connection.
    Is there any way I
    can disable this auto-connect?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect to an OpenMQ server running on another machine with code like the following:

    There are two problems here. The first is a firewall problem. Although the Open MQ port mapper running on port 7676 wasn't being blocked, the port that mq tcp port was. I was able to solve this by creating an ssh tunnel and specifying a mqtcp connection.
    "Table 18–2 Message Broker Addressing Schemes"
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4916/6ngbm6hp4?a=view#gbnnt
    f.setProperty(ConnectionConfiguration.imqAddressList,"mqtcp://" + host + ":32782/jms");This solution is less than ideal, since the mq tcp port can change. In fact, if you reference the original post, you can see it has already changed on me. I could write code to determine what the port is and create my own tunnel, but that doesn't seem worth the effort just yet.
    The second problem is the lack of helpful error message. It's the sort of problem where you can't really blame any one party too much. Open MQ and Java are both just reporting the error message that they are given by the operating system. They should do a bit more than that.

  • Ora-12154 when trying to connect to database from fortran application

    I am trying to connect to database and run an simple select query to a table(without any where clause) using pro*fortran code.
    the connect strng is like
    exec sql connect :uidpwd
    where uidpwd = username/password@SID
    SID and tnsnames connect string are the same.
    The fortran (profortran) code is placed in the database server and there are no errors when make is run.
    Tnsping is working fine, also i am able to conect using sql*plus and run the same query.
    Please help
    Thanks and Regards
    Nitin

    Hi Nitin
    Thanks for the helpful! With your point I'm now Pro! Great thanks.
    By the way have your seen that?
    Files such as LISTENER.ORA, TNSNAMES.ORA, SQLNET.ORA, if configured manually, or copied and edited from earlier releases of Oracle Database may have record attributes that are incompatible with Oracle Database 10g release 2. The software cannot read such files. The required record format is stream_lf and the record attributes are carriage_control and carriage_return.
    This may result in:
    Inability to start the listener
    Services not registered with the listener
    Inability to connect to other databases
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
    Run the following command on each file affected:
    $ DIR/FULL filename
    An output similar to the following may be displayed:
    Record format: Variable length, maximum 255 bytes
    Record attributes: Carriage return carriage control
    If the output includes the preceding entries, then run the following command:
    $ CONVERT/FDL=SYS$INPUT filename filename
    RECORD
    CARRIAGE_CONTROL CARRIAGE_RETURN
    FORMAT STREAM_LF
    ^Z
    Otherwise herewith an interesting metalink note. Doc ID:      Note:437597.1

    harry,
    i am assuming you are using 6.0.8.8 of reports6i, which is base-release. there have been problems withthe OCA in this version. by using the latest patch you should solve this problem. for further details, please contact oracle support services.

  • Java.sql.SQLException:No suitable driver.....trying to connect to DB2 db

    I have just compiled a program that tries to connect to a DB2 database in order to create a table with fields and values and to update these. It compiled fine but when I try to run it I get the following error:
    General exception occured
    java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source)
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source)
    at Loader.main(Loader.java, Compiled Code)
    The name of the db is CHDTEST. The server where this database connects also has other systems and other databases. I don't know if I need to list the system as well. can the db be found without listing the system??
    Here is what is in my code:
    String dbName = "CHDTEST";
    String url = "jdbc:db2" + dbName;
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, "db2ad", "tsd4");
    db2ad being the userid
    tsd4 being the pw
    Can anyone help please??thanks, AL

    Hi,
    You must put ":" between db2 and you database name, for example:
    jdbc:db2:CHDTEST and not
    jdbc:db2CHDTEST
    gook luck

  • Trying to connect old Access97 Client to an Oracle XE server

    I'm trying to connect an old Access 97 Client app. to an XE server via ODBC. I don't know if it's possible at all, so far I've not been able to see the server from the "Link Table" in Access. I get ORA-12154.
    The XE Client contains no admin tool for ODBC, in this forum I've seen mentioned that XE ODBC uses "Instant ODBC" that have no setup, but does anybody know if what I'm trying is possible at all?
    And if it is possible; how do I do it?
    Assume I know nothing at all about what I'm doing!
    Per

    I don't know if it's possible at allYes, it's possible, I do it all the time!
    You need to set up the ODBC connection:
    Start --> Settings --> Control Panel -->
    Administrative Tools --> Data Sources (ODBC)
    Type in the name for your DSN, then pick the TNSName
    that you want to connect to (optionally you can type
    the username/password in the username box to save
    that). Save it and exit.
    Then from within Access, go to File --> Get External
    Data --> Link Tables
    Change the select box at the bottom (Files of type)
    to ODBC Databases and pick your DSN.
    Then log in as the user you have created and it
    should give you a list of tables to link.
    ~JerYes, it should, but it doesn't. The reason I' trying this stunt, is because a 8i server becomes unavailable. And as the database I'm running is pretty small, I migrated it to an Express server. The setup before was Oracle ODBC driver 2. 5 (For Oracle 7.34, no less) and it has worked flawlessly for many years.
    What confuses me, is that the normal connection procedure doesn't work. Also, I know that Net8 has taken over for SQLNet, and I thought that may be the problem. (Not sure if Net8 actually uses TNSNames)
    Also, Access 97 uses the old Microsoft Jet engine Object model, DAO, I thought that may be a problem.
    At the moment I've managed to connect by using the "Microsoft for Oracle" OCBC Driver on Microsoft XP. It may cause other problems with my login to the database methode, but it is managable. I really would like to know why the easy and straightforward doesn't work, though...

I have typed out this example that is in a text book I have and I am trying to connect my java program to a MySQL database. • Trying to connect via tablet's tethering hotspot, firefox says proxy server refused connection

    Hi there, today I tried to connect my laptop to my tablet using the lattering as tethering hotspot. Laptop connected itself to tablet, signal was excellent, password OK, no apparent problems.
    When I try to load the home page I got this answer: connection refused by proxy server.
    What shall I do, check or change to make things work?
    When a use my internet key or any other wi-fi I don't get the same problem, it only happened today with the tethering hotspot of the Tablet.
    Thanks in advance for any help you guys might be able to give me!
    Happy new year,
    Ira

    Hey Ira,
    Does your computer use a proxy server to connect to the internet?
    1.You can hold your window key and press r at the same time to open a dialog box. 2.in the dialog box type ncpa.cpl and press enter. 3.Your networks will open 4.right click the network named wifi or the network you connect through and select properties. 5.this will again open a dialog. in this dialog scroll and go to internet protocol version4 6.double click on it. do you see obtain an ip address automatically checked or use the following ip checked.
    if obtain ip automatically then your connection doesn't use proxy.
    now go to firefox>option>advanced>network>setting and see if your connecion is automatic,no proxy etc. If your computer use proxy you can use system proxy or manually configure proxy.
    You have two scenarios.
    1. When you use internet key or any other wi-fi. Keep the setting as it is. remember in this case "use system proxy settings"
    2. Now when you use tethering from your table, you will have to make only a tiny change. Go to firefox setting, dont make any change to windows setting and click on no proxy or automatically detect proxy (1 of the first two). One of them should work for you Either no proxy or automatically detect proxy
    hope it helps. :-)

  • ORA-12705 when trying to connect to database

    I am trying to install SQL Developer on a user PC in my company, but when the user tries to connect to a database he gets the following error message:
    An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    0604. 00000 - "error occurred at recursive SQL level %s"
    *Cause:  An error occurred while processing a recursive SQL statement
    (a statement applying to internal dictionary tables).
    *Action:  If situation described in the next error on the stack
    can be corrected, do so; otherwise contact Oracle Support.
    Vendor code 604
    I have tried searching this forum and the rest of the web for this error, and I have tried all the tips that I have found, but nothing seems to work for me, I get the same error message every time. Most of the tips have been centered around the NLS_LANG parameter. Does anybody have a suggestion?

    I have already seen this document and tried it out, but it didn't work. And I have tried out numerous other tips that I have found in different places on the web.
    Is the client installation of any relevance? I notice that this user has a different installation from the one that I have, and that he amongst other things doesn't have sql plus installed.
