Trying to get my printer connected to wireless

I am trying to get my printer setup to be able to print wireless.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
In order to help you, we need information!
-- What printer are you asking about?
-- Will you be connecting it to your home wifi network?
-- What will you be printing from?  A computer, tablet, or laptop?
Have you run the installation disk included with the printer, and choose "wireless" as the method of connection?

  • I am trying to get a 8500a connected over wireless but it is not linking to d-link router dir-615.

The printer connects to the same router via wired port but will not get a valid address using wireless.  IP address is 169.254.140.246 in the wireless network test report even though everything is labeled PASS

I have about 8 things on the same network and they all work.  It is only the printer.  Changing to WPA is better for security anyway so just have to go reenter the netork info on everything.
Weird that the printer reported it was link successfully when it had an invalid IP address.

  • HP6110 printer connecting to wireless router USB port

I have an HP Officejet 6110 all-in-one printer, a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7, and a Hitron wireless Router CGN3ROG.
I am trying to get the printer on to my home network by plugging it into the USB port on the router. I cannot get it to work. Has anyone succeeded in doing this?

    Hello @Derek_W,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're trying to connect the Officejet 6110 to your home network by plugging a USB port to your router. I will do my best to assist you! If this is your printer here, you cannot do this. You have to use a USB cord to your printer and computer. I will provide the Manual here. On page 55, explains on how to connect your printer.
If you have a different model number, then please let me know. If you have any further questions let me know as well. Have a great night!

  • Windows 7 does not detect & install HP Colorlaser 2600n printer connected to wireless network

I have an HP Colorlaser 2600n printer connected to a router set up for my wireless network. I have tried to installed the printer through the wireless network, as I have done with other computers, but my new HP dv7 laptop does not find the printer in the network. Just to check, I installed the printer directly to the laptop through an usb connection and it work, but nothing I have tried has work to access the printer through the wireless network. If I use HP installation CD and check network installation, the setup program does find the printer, but once I finished, the printer does not appear in "printer and devices". Any suggestion on how to solve this situation? Thank you in advance for your help!!

  • I am trying to get my printer to work.

I am trying to get my printer to work. It is a Canon MP240, it does not show up in the printers menu. Though it is plugged in via USB.

This printer does have a driver available via Software Update, meaning that when you connect the printer to the Mac via USB cable the driver should be downloaded and installed automatically for you. Of course this will not occur if the Mac cannot detect the printer at the end of the cable. So if you open Print & Scan, select to Add and the MP240 is not shown in the Default Add Printer view then there could be a problem with the USB cable or with the printer.
To double-check if the printer can be seen by the Mac, open System Information and under the Hardware entry in the sidebar, select USB. Then in the top right pane you will see all the USB connections on your Mac and what is currently connected to them. If the MP240 is not shown, then try moving the cable to a different USB port on the Mac. And don't use a USB hub or the USB port on the keyboard. If moving doesn't help the printer appear under one of the USB busses, then try a different USB cable. If that still doesn't help, turn off the power to the printer and unplug the power cord for 10 minutes before reconnecting and turning it back on.

  • Where is the Ping button? (trying to get ethernet printer operating OS 10.6

I am trying to get a Xante Accel-a-Writer 3G to work with OS 10.6.3 on my recently acquired MBP.
I've been told by Xante tech support to ping the printer, but he seems unable or unwilling to be sufficiently explicit for someone as dense as me about how to do it. I have looked at the Mac help and it doesn't help me either. It just says "Type the IP address or DNS name of the device you’re trying to contact and click the Ping button"
I have looked at the main window of the network settings window and at every tab under "advanced" and I don't see a ping button. I'm also not sure where I am supposed to type the IP address for the printer.
Can someone direct me to step by step explicit directions for a dummie?

    Where is the Ping button?

  • Trying to get new house connected is a nightmare

    Hi,
Just moved house in September and made arrangements to get my phone and broadband service moved to my new address, got an appointment for the 25th and after numerous e-mail and texts to say they were coming and to make sure someone would be in they called the night before to cancel stating external works would need done and i would get an update in two weeks, bearing in mind the previous owner had a phone line, there is a pole outside the front door with a cable going to my house i was shocked when told there wasn't a line available for me from the pole or any other close by, anyway this has been going on for some time now, first they submitted drawings to the council for 3 way traffic lights that were accepted, then when the work was supposed to be carried out they came back with another excuses saying they then had to then submit plans to the council, we then got another date for 12th November and was assured that most of the cable work was complete and only a small section remained that was underground and requiring the traffic lights would take an hour, 3 men turned up hovered around outside the house and then disappeared again before i could get my shoes on and go out to chat to them, then told the following day that they could not complete the work for some reason that the cs girl didn't know then got a date for the 19th that was then changed later to the 24th then at 4am this morning get an email from BT saying they would be sending an engineer on the 25th September - whats that all about!! its getting beyond a joke i'm usually pretty patient but this is getting ridiculous, and to top it all off i am still getting charged for the services that havent been getting for the last two months.

  • Trying to get old printer (not on list) running on new computer

New computer = Satellite L755-S5349, running on Windows 7, 64-bit.
Printer = HP Color LaseJet 3600n (which doesn't appear on the computer's list of recognized drivers).
HP Download web-site says their Vista version driver for the 3600 should work on this computer.
    I have downloaded that driver.
    When I plug in the USB connector, the computer seems to recognize the printer's existence, but puts it into the category of "Other Devices", not "Printers and Faxes";
and, when I try to print a document, the computer seems to be trying to send it to a Fax (I don't have a Fax).
In any case, it doesn't print and the document doesn't show up in the printing-monitor area.
I'm thinking I may have done something wrong in designation which "port" I wanted it to go through; I don't recall seeing USB as an optio. As noted, I'm connecting the computer to printer via a USB cable - which has worked fine with 2 previous computers.
As you may tell, I'm a real Newbie at this - pretty non-technical - so: 1) if it's something really "obvious" (to you), please don't flame me too bad; and 2), if you've got a solution, be prepared to walk me through everything in baby steps, with as little jargon as possible (assume no pre-knowledge about the innards/workings of a computer).
    Thanks

Reading through this thread may help:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software/Windows-7-and-HP-Color-LaserJet-3600N/td-p/...
    This bit in particular:
The file I downloaded from HP is called "HP Color Laserjet 3600 host based driver" version 61.082.61.41 dated 26 November 2008. It's 14.2 MB in size. Unzip it to the folder of your choice (e.g., C:\HP CLJ3600 Driver) then add the printer through Win 7's Devices and Printers. Point Windows to that folder (instead of a CD) and it should do the job.
HP's printer group seems fond of stranding it's users, I've had to struggle to get a few older LaserJets to work in a few different installations. :-(

  • I just moved and and am trying to get the printer to work. I get a screen saying it is offline. I

Hello all - I have a desktop and laptop on a home network with a router, hooked up to DSL service.  HP 6310xi all-in-one.  The network is working but I cannot print from either computer.  I have an ethernet cable that was marked "printer to router" when I had to disconnect everything a while back.  I assume that it should be connected and it is, but I still have a screen that says the printer is offline.  Help please!

Did you get a new router or did you move your old one and just hook it up again?
    What operating system?

  • Have recently acquired an additional black MacBook, and installed Snow Leopard onto it. Trying to get it to connect via a plug-in USB wifi unit (poor reception on Airport) I have an extra Network Location which does not work.  How can I remove it?

Need to get a second hand black MacBook connected.  Poor reception on Airport so tried a plug in wifi aerial. That didn't work, but now have  a Network Location I can't get rid of.  How do I remove it ?

    Hello my ginger,
I tried what you suggested - but to no success.  The problem came up when I was re-entering the new settings.  If I left it as using DHCP it would run for a few seconds with no IP address, then drop in a 169.254 one which would not connect through.  To overcome this I tried using the 'Using DHCP with manual address' option and entered in an address which it had set up from the clone boot.  This appeared to be okay.  When I then tried renewing DHCP lease sometimes that address held.  When I tried connecting though - no sight of the internet, and the exclamation mark was across the wifi icon in the menu bar. If I switched it to Using DHCP it would randomly fall back to the 169.254 address.
The only significant differences I could see when cross checking all the settings info was in the WINS panel the NetBIOS had a slightly different configuration of the name - but as they ended in the same numbers I assumed they were the same.  And, when looking under Keychain Access, in the System section list (it also appeared in the login section) additional info box they had different locations - 28 characters in four groups.  I don't have a clue what this refers to.  Also the allow access list in the boot clone included System Preferences, but did not in the Snow Leopard boot, so I added it in.  With no success.
I am so frustrated I am thinking of giving up.  I seen have loads of postings on the net about a variety of problems with wifi connection on Snow Leopard.  I have version 10.6.3.  Did it get any better in later Snow Leopard ?  Or in any of the OS s after that ? It was always so easy and so solid under Leopard - why the h**l did they change it ?

  • Trying to get extreme to connect to internet

    Hi,
    Can anyone help?
I have been running an airport express network for the last year very smoothly, i have recently bought a second hand extreme. I can't get the thing to connect to the internet/ email.
My 2 computers see the new extreme network, I have talked to my ISP & everything is cool their end & when i go back to my original express network it works like a dream. I am not that well educated in the art of problem solving. I have tried a couple of things in the set up assistant & the admin utilities but to no avail.
What i really wanted to do is run both airports on the same network using the extreme as the base & use the express to extend the range around my house & also use it for air tunes.
    Any help will be great,
    thanx in advance
    Graham

I you haven't done so already, I suggest that you perform a "hard" reset of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) to get it back to it's original "out-of-the-box" condition.
After doing so, you will want to do a power recycle of your network components since you will be changing your network configuration and the modem will need to be able to "see" the new device (AEBS) connected to it.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the DSL/Cable modem, Internet Router, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the DSL/Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the Internet Router; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
After the power recycle, I suggest that you first setup the AEBS to work with your Internet connection, and then setup the WDS.

i am tring to get a mac computer to hook up on my wireless router. my router is hooked to a pc and i have been tring to get it on the mac but it is not reading any signals. my router is wrt54g

You may need to update the firmware of the router. Also, if you're using any wireless security, add a $ at the beginning of your password.
