TS3899 I have an new iphone5.  I have no problem with email when I have web access.  How do I send and receive email over the phone when no there is no web access?

my email works fine when I have web access.  How do I receive emails when I am just using the phone with no web access?

For email you you need an Internet connection and that requires either wifi or cellular data.

My old iPad 2 is updated to ios 7.1.2 but I have a new 4 which is only compatible with 7.0.4 from setup. How can I backup my account to the new iPad with this incompatibility?

What you need to do is temporarily set up your new 4. Just long enough to update the operating system. Then you can erase all content and settings - which puts it back to its out of box state, then set it up again, this time restoring it from the backup of your two.
So, using the same Apple ID on both - just to keep things easy - set up your 4. Just basically choose 'set up as new' to activate it, then immediately update the iOS to 7.1.2.
then erase all content and settings, which puts it back to 'llike new'...but the operating system will not reset, it'll remain 7.1.2
Then set it up again, this time choosing to 'restore from the backup' of your 2 and your 4 will be a near clone of your two.

  • When I send or receive e-mails, the icon showing that there is an attachment with the e-mail may or may not appear. I have spoken to Apple and they cannot fix.

When I send or receive e-mails, the icon showing that there is an attachment with the e-mail may or may not appear. I have contacted Apple and they do not have a solution for this issue. This is a huge problem for me.

No, the senders are in most case sending from corporate servers which are almost certainly not Mac based. Also, remember this happens when I send or receive. So if I send something with an attachment, the attachment will go through, but the sent box will not show the paper clip icon so that I can distinguish the emails sent with attachments versus the emails sent without attachments. I receive the attachments as well, but again the paper clip icon does not show up so that I can distinguish the emails that I have received that contain attachments. Recipients of my e-mails have complianed that when they receive an attachment from me they do not see the paper clip icon which alerts them to the fact that the email contains an attachment.

  • Cannot synch or d/l new os5 software. Cannot access apple store. I called support and they wouldn't help unless I pay for it. Called apple store and they laughed over the phone

Very frustrated with Apple. I have removed and re-downloaded itunes software at least a dozen times. When I plug in phone to synch, itunes does come up. Cannot access apple store. Programs stalls in middle and freezes my PC. I cannot download any apps, music or new OS5. Tried calling support, they will not help unless I pay for the help.  Then called the nearest Apple store and they laughed at me over the phone.
I did notice that quicktime did not download with itunes. Had to download quicktime separately.
What do I do to get this software to work?

  • My send and receive email works fine over wi-fi in the US but when I am in Europe I can only receive emails. My iPad tells me that the emails i have typed have been sent (the whooshing sound) yet they are never received. Anyone have any ideas please?

In the US, my iPad 2 sends and recieves email over wi-fi without problems, yet when I am in Europe, I can receive emails over wi-fi without issue, yet the emails that I send (get the whooshing sound) never arrive.
I have input a valid local smtp address yet that still get no results.
Has anyone had the same issue and found a workable solution please?

    Who is your email provider?
If you use an independent email provider (not tied to any specific ISP) such as GMail or iCloud, you'll have no problems sending email from any location or network, without having to change any outgoing SMTP servers to local ones.

  • TS3276 I have recently been unable to send and receive emails

When I attempt to send an email, I am prompted to enter my password.  When I do, the password is rejected.  I'm also unable to receive emails.  I've tried switching to different ports, but it didn't work.  I also tried changing my password, but this was also unsuccessful.  These problems just started.  Any help would be appreciated.

I currently have a teacher in district as well who has this same issue on a MBP. New emails will not come to the Mail account on the MacBook.  If she logs onto an iMac in the classroom, Mail opens and operates without issue. We have removed and added her Exchange account on the MBP in the Mail program and still have the same issue.

  • Why does the port settings on my iPad change every time I sync with my computer. After syncing I have to go in and change the port settings so I can send and receive emails on my iPad.

Every time iSync my iPad 2 with my computer it changes the port settings. Has anyone else had this issue?

When you sync the iPad, do you have mail settings configured to sync to the iPad? You could have different settings on your computer that might be affecting the email set up on the iPad when you sync.

  • My boyfriend purchased the new operating system for the mac book pro it was send to his email but we cant figure out how to get it and download it from the email

how do we download our operating system purchase from our email it was sent to?

You should have received a redemption code via email if you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion that would allow you to download the OS via the Mac App Store. If you purchased an earlier version it would come on discs, usually model-specific.

  • TS3899 When at home using our home wireless I can send and receive emails on my iPad no problem.  When using other wireless networks I can send emails to people who share the same Internet provider but not others.  Why?

Is the wireless provider the issue?  I can receive emails everywhere I go but in some locations can only send to a limited number of email addresses.

    Greetings
I suspect that the issue is the SMTP server settings. On your home network you are using your providers SMTP server and all is fine (If you check your email account configs you will find that the SMTP server is set to your providers?).
When you use a different network (provider) mail will not be sent unless you use that networks (providers) SMTP server (this is a security issue to address ways of "spamming").
So if youre 3G/4G provider is the same as you home provider all will work well via your home WiFi. If you turn off WiFi and just use your 3G/4G connection to send mail (iPhone/iPad etc) all will work well (when you are out and about and using anothers WiFi network).
If you are connected to, say a MacDonalds WiFi, mail will probably not be sent. (It will be received though).
Using WEB mail interface (via your WEB browser) removes this problem as well.
(A SMTP server is what is used to send email. So to successfully use anothers (not a networks the same as your providers) WiFi network and send email via it, you must know the SMTP servers name and reconfigure your email account/s to use that server to send mail.)

  • I am incredibly angry right now with the fact that it has taken me 6 hours to try to fix a plug-in problem that Adobe will not discuss with me over the phone when I have photos that must be done TODAY with $4000 on the line to have the job done today.

I have never been so frustrated with a company and their inability to support me as a customer.
Even when I try to ask a question in the forums, it logs me out without ever posting my question- every time.
My PS5 will not allow me to run updates or manually install plug-ins to open CR2 files from a T3i.

    SSprengel,
Your post appears as a reply to mine, but none of what you write applies to me.
You are way off base and I resent it. Please forgive the inevitable tone of what follows.  No offense meant, I'm just pi$$ed off, that's all.
    Let's see:

CS6 is still sold and supported by Adobe, right?  They have released ACR 8.4 for both PS-CC and PS-CS6…
That's plain bull, and it has nothing to do with the OP's predicament. No need for me to go into the limited value of ACR 8.x and higher for CS6 users.  Incidentally, the miserly pay received by those poor souls in Pune, Mumbai, or wherever they are in India should allow Adobe to extend their limited, pathetic support by substantially more than a few years
I have been told in no uncertain terms by Adobe and those close to Adobe, that I'm an Adobe former client.
That is patently offensive by the standards of any prudent person.  My paid purchase of Photoshop CS6, is not that old. I had been an Adobe customer for very close to 30 years.
    ssprengel wrote:
……From Adobe's perspective your $4000 job should allow you to buy new software and a new computer to run it on if your older computer isn't compatible with their new software…
That is unnecessarily condescending, offensive and wrong. $4,000 a month is substantially below half of what I was making before I became permanently disabled in 2005 and had to retire.  If $4,000/month is all you're making, I'm sorry for you.  That doesn't remotely allow you to project that onto me in a puerile and futile attempt to define me.
However, since 2005 I have not drawn a salary of any kind.  Further details are none of your business.
The fact that there are people well off to be ripped off does not justify Adobe's predatory practices in any event.
For your information, Microsoft has been very supportive of my situation regarding my older Macs and has even provided replacement floppy drives for Mac MS Word 5.a (decades old) in the last 12 months and even provided workarounds for a six-year-old Entourage 2008 this current year.  I run a number of Macs, including two Mac Pros and two Mac OS 9.2 machines.

    MY point exactly.
I'm not in any sort of "problem" myself.  I'm in the process of quickly learning and enormously enjoying my Photoshop substitute, the excellent 59€ PhotoLine.  I was only expressing solidarity with the OP.

  • How can I send and forward emails on my iPhone5 now that Hotmail has changed to outlook/exchange?

Hope someone else out there is having the same problem! I can do everything on my iPad, just like before, but I only see and can delete emails on my iPhone. There is no toolbar or anything else to work with. I have deleted the acct. and reinstalled several times, but it's still the same issue. Help....

re: supplied image of 2014.sbd file
Yes the files (no extension) these are mbox files and have different sizes so they must contain emails.
I also notice that all the '''.msf '''files are a different date and firefox files instead of text file that look same as the mbox file.
In your Profile folder, Mail, Local folders - Locate the file you showed us in the image.
Close Thunderbird now - this is important.
Delete all the files that show a .msf extension.
    Restart Thunderbird.
