TV @nywhere a/d - MCE TV reception unwatchable

I've just installed the above tv card into a clean install MCE pc.
MCE detects the card ok and successfully finds all the local channels.
When I first tried to watch 'live tv' it reported a decoder error
I installed my Cyberlink DVD software and checked the decoder using the mce tool. It said it was compatible and the preferred. When I tried to watch tv it reported that there was no signal.
Next up I downloaded a 30 day trial for Nvidia Purevideo. Now when I try and watch tv, I get a picture but it's constantly pausing and skipping frames rendering it completely useless.
Is there something obvious that I'm missing? The freeview built into my TV reports full signal strength
PC Spec: Athlon64 3000+, 2GB RAM, Geforce 6150 integrated Video
Cheers

well... uninstalling rollup 2 was a bad idea
Completely stopped the tv tuner from working. I then couldn't install rollup 2 again.
Now I've uninstalled WMP11, reinstalled Rollup 2 and I'm back where I was before.
I have however installed the xbox 360 connect software and tried the TV through that. Guess what... runs absolutley fine, no problems at all. Haven't got an MCE remote so I can't record or change channels (i think).
I guessing this is a software problem then... any ideas?

  • Tv @nywhere A/D supported in Win XP MCE 2005?

According to MSI website it is and drivers/software is available but it just won't work.
As soon as i install the drivers it causes the MCE Receiver service to crash.
So does it really work with MCE or not?
Quick response would be nice so i can return the POS tomorrow.

MSI tells us it is, so it should be.
But are you using the right drivers?

  • MSI TV @nywhere A/D and XP MCE problems on Mega 865

I can't seem to get the MSI TV card working on MCE.
Windows thinks the card is a modem when it detects it from start up and therefore it doesn't install correctly.
I've checked and the TV card instructions and it says it's compatible with MCE, so is it that MSI's tv card does work with their Mega pro?
I think everything else is working fine, apart from a few issues with the DVD-R drive resetting the computer when I press eject (I can live with that for now).
    Please help!

Thanks for both of your responses
The tuner is both analogue and DVB.
    It says here
    http://msicomputer.co.uk/products.aspx?product_id=703683&cat_id=190
    That it is compatible.
Is the info that MSI give on that page wrong?

  • TV@nywhere and Media Center

Does the original TV@nywhere (Not Master) work with MSI Media Center?  I get nothing but a blue screen on the TV while MSIPVS works fine.
If anyone has it working, what MC version?  What settings?

    Hi Bas,
    thanks for your answer.
DVB-dream is a software to view tv on your PC. I want to watch blueray, radio, tv, watch pictures,... -> HTPC.
For this MCE is a nice standard software. I thing the problem is not MCE but MSI! After the message "... no signal.." the MSI software have to be start under admin rights to work. For me this is a hint to a bug in the msi driver.

  • TV@nywhere ATSC - Channel "locked" after viewing certain channels

    Hello there.
I am having trouble with my TV@nywhere ATSC.
First of all, just the first two channels are properly detected.  The other channels are just named "Program #", where # ranges from 3 to 24!  (There are only about 5 ATSC channels here in Mexico).
Note that those first two channels work correctly.
When I change the channel to the one named "Program 3", a third channel is shown correctly, but then that channel gets "locked" so every single chanel (including the first two channels) shows that third channel.  This situation can only be fixed by closing PowerCinema (the included program) and opening it again.
When I change the channel to any other than the first three, the image freezes and no further channel surfing is possible.
I already installed the most recent drivers from your site, but everything seems to be the same.
Also, I have installed the card on two different machines, and the behavior is also the same. (Video is just smoother on the faster machine)
Surprisingly, all channels can be perfectly seen (for a short time) while doing the channel scan.
I am looking forward to fix this problem since watching only two channels isn't exactly what I was looking for when I bought the tuner.
    Thanks in advance,
      Juan.

  • Digi@nwhere A/D Plus on Windows XP MCE (not working with Media Center)

I just recently bought a MSI Digi@nywhere A/D Plus from Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815127008 to replace the WinTV by Hauppage that came with my HP Media Center m7640n, after installing the card and drivers, I am able to watch TV in the ArcSoft application that came on the CD, but using the Windows Media Software
I've applied every possible update/rollup for my Windows Media software, but it just says Quote
"At least one tuner that supports a standard (NTSC) TV signal must be installed to configure the TV signal. Please ensure that your tuner hardware is correctly installed, restart the computer, and try again."
What am I doing wrongly that Media Center is not finding the card? Since my software is the 2005 version, from what I've read supports ATSC, and was listed on the Newegg.com and MSI spec as supported.

Did you use the latest driver from here?
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=132&prod_no=1948
Yeah, I've got the "Digi@nywhere A/D Plus BDA driver" installed on my PC
and my "device manager" shows that it's currently the 1.345.9.1009
I can view the TV in the ArcSoft TotalMedia software and everything works fine, but Media Center still fails to recognize the card. I'd really prefer Media Center because of it's enhance EPG & recording scheduling over TotalMedia
Is there something more to be done to/with Media Center? Registry edit or 3rd party add-on that I'm missing?

  • TV@nywhere Master problems

I recently purchased TV@nywhere Master to use on my Dell Dimension 4550 which runs WinXP, and would like help with the following issues:
    •   The signal for the TV card is provided by an antenna however, it is not strong enough to reach the tuner’s threshold, so none of my channels show as available in SETUP. I have already downloaded and installed the three latest driver versions from the MSI website. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can remedy this situation? The same antenna provides the signal to our two TVs, and our reception is perfect.
    •   I have twice attempted to register this card on your website, and have been told both times that my sessions, which took about a minute, had timed out! Can you fix this, please?
    •   The radio comes on unbidden whenever I start my computer, and after it comes out of standby mode.

I have a TV@nywhere master and I live in the UK.
I do not have any problems with tuning the stations with MSIPVS. All 4 main channels work fine, it also tuned in to some weaker signals. The only terrestrial channel I can not get is channel 5 but that is because they is no channel 5 by aerial in my area.
You could try fine tuning the channel that BBC2 is on, it may help, how to do it is in the manual.
The drivers on MSI web site are not for the master (MS-8606) version they are for the original TV@nywhere and the TV@nywhere Master drivers are the same version number as the one on the website but have probably been tweaked to accommodate the new Microtune MT2050 tuner.
The only gripe I have about the MS-8606 is the drivers for the tuner. They do work BUT if you want to use any other software that works with the new CX2883 and MT2050 chips, you have to run MSIPVS first to get the tuner to work. The display within MSIPVS also leaves a lot to be desired especially after using Dscaler (no tuner - video-in only). Video-in is not a problem and works with most well know freeware/shareware software. The capture quality (which is my main concern) is excellent when using the higher setting. I have captured some footage of an holiday video that was transfered to an very high quality VHS tape nearly 12 years ago, and converted it to an SVCD. The quality of the end results is as good as the original VHS tape. I have also capture from the Tuner in DVD quality and it is almost undistinguishable from a real DVD`s play back and certainly better than some cheapo DVDs.
As the Tuner and encode/decoding chips are very new (product only released 3-4 weeks ago) support and new drivers will take time to appear, BUT even without the support etc. I can still see the quality that this card as to offer.

  • TV @nywhere Satellite II PCI Card - low profile bracket?

    Hi,
I have a low profile Antec Minuet case which only takes low profile bracket cards.
Can I make the TV@nywhere PCI Satellite II card fit in my case? It looks small enough....
Does it come with dual size brackets or will I be able to adjust the bracket to fit?
Please help - I really need to get Satellite into my case but cant find any Low Profile cards...
Also, can someone confirm if TV@nywhere PCI Satellite - the original version - allow me to receive HD satellite channels? Not too fussed about recording - just want to view HD Satellite? This card is easier to obtain in the UK - the new II version is harder to get hold of.
    Thanks!

  • Drivers for mce 2005

Hi i was wondering if anyone knows of any drivers for my tv @nywhere master tuner so it can run with mce 2005. please and thx!

  • READ this: MSI TV @nywhere Plus + Dscaler

My Pinnacle pctv pro has gone ( I suspect overheating).
Used Dscaler for tv (ecxelent picture, ultra fast channel switchig) and VDub for recording (Huffyuv lossless codec).
It was super card. On differnt forums I read:this card is good, this card is peace of  ....., but I think that every card is good as long it has good software.
Dscaler pulls maximum of the card out. For me is one of the best programs ewer written. :biggthumbsup:for the author !!
So I decided to buy something cheap. I bought MSI TV @nywhere Plus about 4 monthes ago.
Installation go smooth, MSI TVR works without problems, but TV picture was, like I ecxpected,  not even close Dscalers.
After many ours, managed to work it with Dscaler 4.1.15.
    Settings:  Card   Asus 7131D
                  Tuner  Philips TDA8275
For each channel choose right Format ( for me Pal-B) and frequency.
Picture is on channels with good reception like watching DVD, but channel switch is a little bit slow ( the card is not directly supported).
Note - Dscaler is just for watching, for recording is original Msi Tvr more than good.
I had problem to use Dscaler and Msi tvr together ( Msi tvr reports error - list index out of bounds), but i solved it -
send shortcut C:\Program Files\MSI\TV@Anywhere Plus\TVR\MSITVR.exe to desktop and run it from there.
Remember - dont ecxpect miracles with MSI TV @nywhere Plus but for this money ( 3 x cheaper then was my pctv pro), must say that MSI TV @nywhere Plus  is ecxellent card.
Hope, that I helped anyone with this.

glad you're enjoying it! i don't use my TV@nywhere Plus much, apart from to use it to play my Nintendo GameCube, but i think its an all round better solution than the TV@nywhere Master it replaced (as well as being much cheaper too). however, once you go down the Digital TV route, you'll never go back to analogue TV again

  • Poor Freeview reception since installing bt vision

    Hello
I used to have a good picture on terrestrial channels when I just had Freeview. I got BT vision but now the Freeview is sometimes unwatchable. I am puzzled as to how the installation of BT vision has interfered with reception of Freeview. Also, BBC1 has now moved to BBC North East, when prior to BT vision, I had BBC1 Yorkshire as my local station. I would be grateful for your input
    Thank you
    Andrew

    welcome to the forum Andrew.
It looks like your BT Vision box has tuned into a different transmitter to the one you were expecting.
Sometimes when this happens second instances of the channels appear lower down in the EPG normally in the 800 range.
If you put your postcode into
    http://www.ukfree.tv/txlist.php
you should see the Freeview masts that it might be tuning in on.
Do you see the transmitter you expect to be accessing plus do you see any others ?
There are a few ways of persuading the box to select the right frequrncy channels
I haven't had a BT Vision box for a while so I'll leave it to other posters to explain how.

  • MSI MegaSky 580 - Reception problems!

I am having a huge problem with my MEGASky 580 Digital TV Dongle. The problem is i receieve very low reception/signal. The antenna which was provided in the box gave very very little signal so i went and bought an antenna and although the reception is a bit better - it is still unwatchable. Most of the time i get no picture at all - thats how bad the reception is. :(
I have 2 TV's in my house (analogue) - both are operating through indoor rabbit ear antennas and i get 100% picture. I am in a city area so there shouldnt be any problem - but the signal is terrible.
Could there be any interference or what is wrong??
Please help - im out of ideas.
    Thank You
This is the antenna i bought: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/446b150901373d442742c0a87f9c065b/Product/View/L4017

although you get good analogue reception, are you in an area that has good digital coverage?
here in the UK, we can buy indoor aerials designed for digital reception; i have one myself, but i still have to use a signal booster as well
digital TV needs a very good signal to work; whereas with a slightly weak signal on analogue TV you can still receive the transmission but with noise and 'snow', a weak digital signal simply won't show anything at all
experiment with trying your indoor aerial in different positions in your room; try putting near to a window pointing towards your nearest DTT transmitter, some types of wall can block certain signals
you might find you need to invest in a good wideband rooftop aerial

  • K7N2GM-V - MCE - GeForce4 MX - DTV

I am trying to use this mobo with Windows MCE 2005 and AverMedia M 150 and HD A 180 tuners. The analog reception is fine, but when I tune to a digital channel it blacks out, except for the channel and program name. Then the system hangs. My research has led me to suspect there is insufficient grpahics memory availalble to the integrated graphics "card." Is there some way to change the memory available for the display?
Or do I need to buy an additional graphics card?

I have reverted to the earlier 66.93 drivers as suggested; no more black screens but still choppy video. And I can no longer use resolution of 1080i, I get a double image on the screen; 720p works fine.
Note that I want to watch and record DTV, that is HD, which has more stringent requirements then SD.
Dr. Shu has a similar set up to me, but if I read your signature right, a faster processor.  And that I now believe was my problem.
I have an Athlon XP 2600+ (a "Barton" with 512KB L2 cache) with an FSB Frequency of 333MHz which should be adaquate for this. The problem is that the motherboard defaults to an FSB frequency of 100mHZ so I wasn't getting its full power. As I learned (in this forum) it needed to be set to 166MHz (½ the advertised frequency) for the CPU to be recognized properly.
Playback is now much improved. Thanks to all for help and suggestions.

  • Poor quality reception

    Hi,
I am trying to get to the bottom of the problems I face when watching any programme on the 746 carrier frequency.
These include sky sports channels (Where I suffer a complete loss of picture, i.e. 0%,0%,0%) and others, during daytime hours they are pretty much unwatchable, after about 7.00pm they improve somewhat but sky sports especially has become terrible lately. Does anyone have any Ideas at all of how to improve dramatically my lost reception on sky sports.
If the 746 frequency is so weak, why can't they change it? or boost it? or do something before I kill myself

Dead right, it depends how far from the transmitter you are really or what obstructions there are in the way of your aerial. I have no idea why they put the sky channels on the only mux that is not at full stength. As far as i can see BT totally ignored this problem when advertising the sports channels, so the paying customers were none the wiser until they actually tried tuning in. So id suggest getting an amplifier if you dont already have one is the simplest possible solution that will help.
