Twirling thingy to let you know it is still downloading mail

Admittedly a minor point, but with the new Mail in 10.5.5, is there a way to turn on some sort of notification that it is till searching for mail or downloading, like the previous version did. Now all it does is quietly sit there and then ultimately pings you when the downloads are done. Is there a setting or did they do away with that notification icon?

Hmmm…it could be that Apple removed that from 10.5.x for only one mail account, though I have no confirmation of that from my contacts and I'm not using 10.5 so I can't test it, either. Or, it could be a byproduct of your other problem(s) since installing the 10.5.5 update.
Did you Repair Permissions both before and after installing the update? If not, I'd do that, as well as the other steps I mentioned in your other topic, then try it again. You should also test it by creating another User Account and setting up your Mail account there to see if the spinning gear icon is shown there when fetching new mail.

No. This is why I don't have an iPhone yet (although mine is finally on order). The closest you are going to get is the ATT Microcell, but they are sort of the opposite technology. The UMA phones allow you to access any wireless network and make calls (as long as you have access to that network). Calls come out of your regular minutes, as they are removing the HotSpot@Home feature, which let you make unlimited calls via wifi.
The Microcell hooks to your wireless network, and works as a cell tower in your home. You can purchase a $20 per month service so that Microcell calls don't count against your allotted minutes, but at that point, you may as well just buy an unlimited minute plan.
The only thing the iPhone had up to this point was some services like Skype or iCall that let you do VoIP, but it wasn't making and receiving calls on your number, PLUS you couldn't be using another app.
I have been with TMO because of the UMA feature, and my wife and I both have BlackBerries. We are switching to iPhones now that Microcell is available. TMO has really seemed to be abandoning UMA for the most part. No Android phones have it.

Is the notifier part of the email program? Is it an independent program like poptray? If it is separate from Firefox, it really shouldn't matter which browser you are using. Unless the notification is within IE.

Is there a setting you can set to let you know you have a tex msg? I use to have the Droid 3 and a light would blink if I had a text msg or email.

No there is not other than a sound setting, vibrate or both (i think). I had this same thought the other day after just coming over from a droid as well but when you think about it, doesn't matter much. With my droid, if the light was blinking I would check, but most often it would be a spam or garbage email. With this phone it has no light but a click of the home button and I can see what messages or emails or whatever are there. If I am close enough to see a light, I'm likely close enough to click the button, and because of my nature, I'm going to click the button and look...lets face it. Essentially the same thing with either phone...if I think there might be something I'm looking for it!
I also believe certain things can be set up to repeat notification until you clear it. So if you miss the initial sound or vibration or what have you, it would alert you again.

How do you know if the Maverick download is happening?

I am now trying to download Maverick .. & have been hearing a whirring sound. But it starts then stops?
- BUT I can't tell if it's done. I've kept the "page" on the screen, and the "download" button shows grey & it shows "Downloading"
- BUT I don't see any circles, to show anything is happening.
- NOR can I see anything on download in Finder. I've been checking the apple icon to see & it still shows Lion, 10.7.5 that I got in 2012. I have 4GB.
So, How do you know if the Maverick download is happening - & when it's done?
Last, do you have to restart the computer? I haven't been able to find a "how to" about this download.

Any auto marking in browser to let you know you used a clip?

I know there is the duplicate frame function that will show you if you put a clip (frames) into the timeline twice, but is there anything in the browser that shows a mark next to a clip that
indicates you've used that clip in the timeline already...so you know before you put it in again?

That is not a feature of the iPhone (or of any phone I've ever had). It seems to be a Nokia thing as it's always past users of Nokia phones who ask about it. With my carrier, there is a beep at the end of every ring it the person is already on the call but no indication on the phone itself.

Generally yes, in my experience it will. I would suggest not trusting it, though, and confirming in your library before you make a purchase.

I, as a volunteer and fellow Firefox user, do know how you feel. As an insider, I can say that it's not as bad as the media makes it seem. Mozilla is a huge group of really awesome people who strive to make the Web a better place.

Yep, the credit card company is responsible for fraudulent charges, not the retailer. My wallet was stolen last year. I figured it out 34 minutes after it was stolen and in that brief ammount of time, the thief had racked up $5,000 at Sears and another $3000 at Best Buy. Neither retailer was responsible. The bank handled removing the charges and the bank deals with the retailer.......
I know it bites to have some charges you're not responsible for. The good news is, you're not responsible for them and they will be removed......

Just a note to let you know about the Refurbished iPhones....

I'm sure a number of you will not agree but.....
I purchase all my Apple products refurbished and have never had a single days' problem with anything from a laptop to a Tower and now, the same with my iPhone. As soon as it went on Refurbished sale site I purchase an 8 gig and last weekend a 4 gig for my son. It's amazing.
This is just an fyi, I'm sure some had problems with refurbished products but I've been very lucky thus far.

But... just like computers that are refurbished, the iPhone is certified as operating as "NEW".
In the computer business this certification is important since the Government won't accept used equipment but will accept equipment certified as NEW with a totally refresed Warranty.
If the iPhone is certified to work as NEW and Warranted as NEW, the consumer should not be concerned about it's performance as long as the problem that the iPhone had is resolved.

When I use camwow, and I take a picture, then i tap the the little thingy that lets you see it. The picture doesnt show. It just shows a black screen with the camwow retro logo in the bottom right corner....PLEASE HELP IMA CRY.
