Two other minor errors in NWDS/WDJ Tutorial #2 (and one mroe question)

First:
In the layout instructions for the QuesdtionMarkView on page 25-26 of Tutorial #2, it does not say to delete the default text view (although it does say to do this for the other views.)  So when you first deploy/run as per instruction on page 29, you will see the text "QuestionMarkView" as well as the question mark image itself.
Second (a little more important):
On page 29, the tutorial seems to read as if the code generator has ALREADY added the line
(1)  wdThis.wdFirePlugStartQuizOut();
for the START plug, and that you only have to add this line of code for the EXIT plug:
(2) wdThis.wdGetQuizInterfaceViewController().wdFirePlugGotoUrl("http://www.sap.com");
But inn my version of NWDS, line #1 bove has NOT already been added by the code generator for the START plug, and it has to be added manually as well as line #2.
Is this a change in the operation of the code generator or an error in the tutorial?

hi L.M.:
You may be right, though I can't tell at this point if I missed the step you mention when following BG's instructions on page 28 of WDJ Tutorial #2.  I'm pretty sure I followed his instructions to set plug values for all view actions, including StartQuizOut for StartPressed.  I'm sure I'll hit this again in another tutorial, and will check at that point to see if you're right.
Anyway, 10 for explaining how the NWDS "points-and-clicks" are related to the code generator.
Thanks
djh

  • Next Question about NWDS/WDJ Tutorial #2 - bottom of page 29

    At the bottom of p.29 of the NWDS/WDJ Tutorial #2, it says to rebuild the project and deploy/run the application so that you can see the "runtime behavior" of the app at this stage of development.
    OK - so I get a clean rebuild with no errors.
    I also get a clean deploy/run with no errors.
    But when the application "pops", there is nothing but a blank frame.
    I know this is not a config problem, because I can still run the Tutorial #1 application and have it "pop" the way it is supposed to.
    I have redone the tutorial up to page 29 twice now to make sure I have made no mistakes.
    But I still get that d***d blank frame when I do what it says to do at the bottom of page 29.
    What might have I done wrong that I'm not aware of ??
    And how can I tell what I've done wrong if the rebuild and the deploy/run are clean with no error messages ???
    Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.
    djh

    ar/rh -
    Yes - your suggestions led me to the right answer.
    Although BG says to set the VerticalSlashPosition of the viewset QuizViewSet to 50% when creating it (in #7 at the top of page 19), he does not say to set the default property of this viewset to "true".
    As soon as I did this, the view popped.
    I'm giving 6 to you and asking Craig/Gali to give ar 6 also.

  • Error 500 running a tutorial application and other issues

    While I am following a tutorial at Oracle JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2) Tutorials - Building a Web Application Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces it is refusing to run more than once.
    When I re-run the application after making changes, it throws error 500 with the below exception stack until it is un-deployed. Once un-deployed, it runs once fine. Why does it have to be terminated and re-deployed?
    In Part 3, Step 1 i cannot follow 'p. 7 In the Applications Navigator, right-click HRFacadeBean.java and select Edit Session Facade from context.' as the tree does not have Employees branch.
    Why is there no Employees under the session facade?

    I thought he prematurely hit Post, thanks for clarification.
    The method kind of works. It worked for a few times, then I got this. Of course property b6 does exist. Undeploying and re-deploying fixed the issue, as previously.

  • The other day I finally sync to the cloud and one of my email accounts keeps asking for a password

    I finally sync'd to the cloud - I have an iMac, iPhone, and iPad - it was getting tiresome to keep deleting emails off of all three.  I have two email accounts - Gmail and SBCGlobal (ATT).  I have no problem with the Gmail account, but the SBCGlobal email account keeps asking me for my password on my iMac.  If I go directly to the Yahoo or SBCglobal site, the both the password and the new mail is there.  Any Ideas?

    Yes, you need to enter your password.  The fact that your web browser is auto filling in your password when you go to the email service's web site does not have anything to do with the iCloud client having it.  Are you sure the password you are being asked for is your email password, and not your AppleId, or user account password?

  • While creating Projects Using the API, get two errors: 'Customer name must be passed' and 'class category is invalid'

    Hi
    While trying to Create Projects using the API, I'm getting two types of errors -
    The first is : 'API failed in one stage 1 Customer Name is a mandatory Quick Entry field. Value must be passed'
    The second is : '
    'API failed in one stage 1 Project: '<Project_Number>'
    The class category is invalid.'
    Both the messages are produced by our custom program. .. however I am not able to understand why the underlying errors occur.
    The first error ( Customer Name is a mandatory quick entry field), is caused by Projects that are to be created from Project templates where it is configured with Quick Entry Customer Name required. We are passing Customer Site number ( Party Bill to site number and Party Ship to side number). The site numbers being passed are also set as 'Primary'. Yet they are failing.
    For the second Error ( The Class Category is invalid), I rechecked multiple times, the Class categories for the Projects I am trying to create, with the Config in R12 and they are fine. Can't understand the reason for these two issues. Has anyone encountered such an issue ? If so how was it resolved?
    Regards
    Vivek

    HI All
    I resolved both the issues. In case there are others facing similar issues, following was the cause and resolution of my errors
    1. Error 1: Customer Name is a Mandatory Quick Entry field. Value must be passed.
    The cause was that the data loaded into our custom staging table was not in the right fields. This was because the data file values and the CTL were not in sync.
    Resolution:
    Corrected the data file to be in Sync with the structure defined in the CTL and  this loaded it successfully
    2. Error 2: The class category is invalid.
    The cause of this error was that  in the  Projects Template (used to create the project from), the Quick Entry setup had a Class Category set as required and I was not passing a value ( a class code value) for that Class Category.
    Hope this helps somebody else
    Cheers

  • Linking Captivate 5 tutorial with two other tutorials that have assessments in an LMS

    Our HR department recently bought an online LMS system and have never used it.  I've create a tutorial, basically an introduction to a new time management system.  At the end of this tutorial our employees will click a button to take them to either the exempt or non-exempt tutorials to view. Both the exempt and non-exempt tutorials have an assessment built in.
    How do I link these two tutorials to the introduction tutorial so that the LMS will recognize the links when I upload them?  The LMS system requires each tutorial be zipped before uploading.  Any help would be tremendously appreciated as they want this to go live Monday!

    You likely can't do that.
    You might be able to if your LMS supports SCORM 2004's 'sequencing' capability. Ask your LMS vendor if they do.
    IF they do, then you have to work out how they implement it and ensure your manifest properly directs the user to the correct lesson... I've never done that, so no idea how that should be implemented...
    In most cases, however, such pathing is something you setup in the LMS itself. For example, in our LMS, you would setup two groups - one for exempt personnel and one for non-exempt personnel.
    Group 1 (exempt) would be assigned, or otherwise have access to, the Intro tutorial lesson, then the exempt assessment; so two separate lessons, perhaps the second locked until completion of the first.
    Group 2 (non-exempt) would be assigned or otherwise access the same Intro tutorial lesson but then the non-exempt asssessment.
    How you set that up, however, depends on your LMS.... It would likely be the easier way to do it...

    There are two iMacs connected through same router in my house but one refuses to login to facebook and other logged in sites. Local techies are bemused, I have just reinstalled OSX and still have the problem. Login page recycles, I get no further and no errors reported. Safari, Opera and Firefox. Deleted cookies and chain but still no action.

    If you have not already done so, read the router's user manual troubleshooting section and/or contact its customer service department/forums.
    If still having problems, post back w/details of all you have tried to resolve the problems along w/the troubleshooting solutions that the "local techies" had you try.

  • IWDMessageManager in WDJ Tutorial #3(Simple Input Form), p.23

    Prior to typing in any of the code shown on page 25 of WDJ Tutorial #3, the generated Java code looks like this for the checkDateInPast method:
      //@@begin javadoc:checkDateInPast()
      /** Declared method. */
      //@@end
      public void checkDateInPast( java.lang.String fieldName )
        //@@begin checkDateInPast()
        //@@end
    When I type in the first line of the code to be added, the result looks like this:
      //@@begin javadoc:checkDateInPast()
      /** Declared method. */
      //@@end
      public void checkDateInPast( java.lang.String fieldName )
        //@@begin checkDateInPast()
        IWDMessageManager msgMgr =
          wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
        //@@end
    But right away I get this error message:
    "IWDMessageManager cannot be resolved or is not a type."
    I have checked back carefully on previous pages and don't see anything I've neglected to do.
    Can someone suggest what might be going on here, either an error in the tutorial or an error in something I've done ????
    Thanks
    Dave

    Yes - that did it, thanks.
    Before you answered I found another way - I looked back at the Java for the views in previous tutorials and found these statements:
    import com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.*;
    import com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.gci.*;
    import com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.*;
    When I added these, the error message went away also - obviously because the IWDMessageManager is included in progmodel.api.*
    But while you're around let me ask you the following question:
    When I do it your way (ctrl-shift-o), how does NWDS know to add just the line for the MessageManager:
    "import com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDMessageManager;"
    Thanks.

  • Error while deploying WDJ code

    Hi All,
    I am getting the following error while deploying WDJ code in NWDS .
    1 . The project was not built due to classpath errors (incomplete or involved in cycle).
    2 .  Missing required library: 'com.sap.security.api.jar'.
    I have put the jar file into the project path but still then i am getting these errors . Please help .
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    If u are using simple project then then adding jar into application property would do but if using DC then u must follow below procedure.
    You cant just add any external jar file into a DC project.
    There is only one way to add a external jar file is by using external library project.
    1.create an external library project type DC.
    2. put your external jar file into its lib folder.
    3. create its public part of type SDA( Assembly if using CE)...and API( Compilation if using CE).
    4. just use SDA public part into your webdynpro project as used DC.
    5. and when you deploy your webdynpro project on server, this file will also get deployed... remember to use SDA public part..

    Hi,
    I am trying to run Sun Java Studio and entered the Tutorial "Developing a Web Application". I have tried to do this twice. steps
    1. drage test field and name it
    2, drag a label and name it
    3. drage abutton and name it
    4. Drage static text and name it
    5. Double click button and enter "helloText.setText("Hello, "+name+"!");
    6. try to build and run
    These two error appear
    <ant antfile="project-data/build-impl.xml" target="compile"/>
    <javac srcdir="${source.java.root}" source="1.4" target="1.4" encoding="${source.encoding}" destdir="${output.classes.dir}" debug="on">
    Any help would be appreciated
    Jim
    I first posted to this . I replied with the log but couldn't get the reply to work so I posted a new post.

    Hi,
    I could not reproduce your problem.The tutorial "Developing a Web Application" works fine for me.
    Please post the server log file which is available at : <install-dir>:\Sun\Creator2\SunAppServer8\domains\creator\logs\server .log
    Thanks,

  • "Bad comment content" error while building WDJ DC

    Hi folks,
    I am using NWDS 7.0.14 and j2sdk1.4.2_17.
    I created a WDJ DC in NWDS(with no application or component) and tried to build it. But I get error message saying "Fatal Error: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.ParserException: Bad comment content(file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/swapnil/.dtc/LocalDevelopment/DCs/demo.com/test_two/_comp/gen/default/logs/build.xml".
    I uninstalled NWDS, deleted .dtc and .dtr folders and installed it again. But, the error message continues.
    Can you please guide me through this problem??
    Thanks,
    Swapnil.

    Thanks for the clue, Ervin.
    We checked build.xml file and realized that my pc name contains "--".
    "--" marks start/end of comments in XML and that was the reason.
    When we removed one hyphen, the problem was solved.
    Thanks, again.
    Swapnil.

  • MIME directory in WDJ Tutorial #2: Question 1 of 2

    On page 26 of WDJ tutorial #2 (Creating Extended WD App), it says to store the MIME objects in
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tutorials.quiz.Quiz
    But the directory
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tutorials.quiz.QuizComp
    is already there (created automatically by NWDS.)
    Does the tutorial REALLY mean "Quiz", or does it mean "QuizComp"?
    This is question 1 of 2 - see next post for related question ...

    If you want to use images in UI elements and want to simply use the image file name as property value (e.g. in Image.source), you have to put the images into folder
    src/mimes/components/<qualified-component-name>
    for the component containing the view with the UI elements. The runtime is then able to create the correct URL from the file name automatically.
    Otherwise, you would have to create the URL in your application by yourself.

  • Find missing values in third table based on two other tables

    Hi- I have tried to do this on my own but the answer eludes me. Can someone please point me in a better direction? We have a table project_categories with project_IDs and related project category_IDs. We have another table contact_categories with contact_IDs and related contact category_IDs. We use these two tables to link contacts to projects by at least one category_ID. It works well for email notifications. We have a third table for "planholders" who are interested in particular projects. The planholder table has contact_IDs and related project_IDs. I want to find contacts who have expressed interest in a project, by inserting a row in the planholder table, but they have not selected any of the project categories in contact categories. This would be an unusually rare exception, so to test it I added myself as a contact 100010 and as a project "planholder", but deliberately did not select any of the related project categories in contact categories.
    select ph.contact_id, ph.project_id, pc.category_id, cc.category_id
    from purchasing_planholder ph, purchasing_project_categories pc, purchasing_contact_categories cc
    where ph.project_id=pc.project_id
    and ph.contact_id=cc.contact_id
    and ph.contact_id||ph.project_id||cc.category_id
    not in (select ph.contact_id||pc.project_id||pc.category_id
    from purchasing_planholder ph, purchasing_project_categories pc, purchasing_contact_categories cc
    where ph.project_id=pc.project_id
    and ph.contact_id=cc.contact_id)
    and ph.contact_id=100010
    This gives me every category for the test contact and every category for the project. I want to find contacts in the planholder table who have not selected any of the categories related to the specific project they selected in the planholder table. I tried minus, outer joins, etc. Does this require PL/SQL and a temp table, or can I find the exceptions with a report? Or do I need a different approach? The ideal answer would display one row with the contact_ID and the project_ID, where the contact has not selected any of the project categories. This would be used to alert them that they need to select at least one of the project categories on the contact form. Thanks for any feedback.

  • (Cisco Historical Reporting / HRC ) All available connections to database server are in use by other client machines. Please try again later and check the log file for error 5054

    Hi All,
    I am getting an error message "All available connections to database server are in use by other client machines. Please try again later and check the log file for error 5054"  when trying to log into HRC (This user has the reporting capabilities) . I checked the log files this is what i found out
    The log file stated that there were ongoing connections of HRC with the CCX  (I am sure there isn't any active login to HRC)
    || When you tried to login the following error was being displayed because the maximum number of connections were reached for the server .  We can see that a total number of 5 connections have been configured . ||

    What is the OS version of the PC you are running  and is it physical machine or virtual machine that is running the HRC client ..
    OS Version Windows 7 Home Premium  64 bit and it’s a physical machine.
    . The Max DB Connections for Report Client Sessions is set to 5 for each servers (There are two servers). The no of HR Sessions is set to 10.
    I wanted to know if there is a way to find the HRC sessions active now and terminate the one or more or all of that sessions from the server end ?

    We have had this "PRX5" problem with Exchange 2013 since the RTM version.  We recently applied CU3, and it did not correct the problem.  We have seen this problem on every Exchange 2013 we manage.  They are all installations where all roles
    are installed on the same Windows server, and in our case, they are all Windows virtual machines using Windows 2012 Hyper-V.
    We have tried all the "this fixed it for me" solutions regarding DNS, network cards, host file entries and so forth.  None of those "solutions" made any difference whatsoever.  The occurrence of the temporary error PRX5 seems totally random.
    About 2 out of 20 incoming mail test by Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer fail with this PRX5 error.
    Most people don't ever notice the issue because remote mail servers retry the connection later.  However, telephone voice mail systems that forward voice message files to email, or other such applications such as your scanner, often don't retry and
    simply fail.  Our phone system actually disables all further attempts to send voice mail to a particular user if the PRX5 error is returned when the email is sent by the phone system.
    Is Microsoft totally oblivious to this problem?
    PRX5 is a serious issue that needs an Exchange team resolution, or at least an acknowledgement that the problem actually does exist and has negative consequences for proper mail flow.

  • No messages are dowloading for one account, but two others are working. Server settings are fine, messages are dowloading on another computer OK, but not mine.

    My thunderbird has stopped downloading messages in one of my accounts, the other two accounts, from different providers, are working fine.
    We have two PC's downloading messages from the same account, and it has worked fine like this for years. The other PC is still receiving the messages. I've checked my webmail, and can log in fine there, the settings in my account have not been changed in Thunderbird, and are the same as the other PC.
    I looked in the error console in Thunderbird, this is what message I get :
    "Timestamp: 23/03/2015 12:41:03 PM
    Error: An error occurred during a connection to pop3.vianet.ca:110.
    Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).
    (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
    Thanks for any ideas you might have on solving this! Happy to provide more info if needed.

    I sugget you try to ping server so that we can verify the connectivity.
    Can windows 8.1 access Windows Server 2008R2?
    Also,please check the event viewer to see if some error log appeared when the issue occurred.
