Two phone lines, not needed

hi, i have a separate bt line upstairs in my bedroom for broadband. we also have a another socket downstairs, which my parents use. last week they came back to bt,(they were originally with talk talk), so now i have two bt sockets and paying twice the line rental. how can i stop that and pay for one when i have bt broadband with the hub upstairs.

Hi you would be better to transfer the broadband service from one number than the other if you cease the broadband service you will end up with a 30.00 cease fee for your broadband transferring it will cost you nothing can then cancel the phone service providing you are not in contract for free

  • Two phone lines on the same SIM card - but which one is active?

I have two phone lines on my SIM card. Of course, only one of them can be active at one time. The switch between them is done through a SIM application which is loaded on the SIM card (supplied by the carrier)
My question is that, sometimes I forget which line is the active one. Is there any way of seeing my active phone line?
All my prior not-so-smartphones showed Line1 or Line2 in the home screen. But i could not find if iphone does this.
P.S. settings-phone-my number does not answer this question, as it always displays the phone number that the iphone is registered to.
    Thanks

Your husband needs to put his sim in an iPhone & turn iMessage off to fix this. If your husband setup a support profile with Apple, he can also login to that support profile & remove the phone.

  • Can I have two phone lines on my iPhone 4G (one for biz and one for personal calls)?

can I have two phone lines on my iPhone 4G (one for biz and one for personal calls)?

FWIW, from my experience I was not able to get this to work.  When I conected a second bluetooth audio device the first device disconnected.

  • Can you have two phone lines?

I was just wondering if you can have two phone lines going to the same house one for home and one for business?
If yes how would they do it? Just connect another line from the telephone graph to the house?
    Many Thanks Luke

You can have as many phone lines to your house as you like: each pays rental.
I work from home so have two.
One is for phone calls only, t'other has my broadband and BTV on it.
The phone calls only has unlimited 24/7 calls; the second comes with after 1900-0700 and free weekend calls.
Shame BT are phasing out BT BB Talk; under that regime every customer has two phone number/lines on one copper/fibre connection

    Hi
I have a salon the phone is very important and since beginning of last week my phone line got ceased and cut off no warning or any thing i have lost alot of business and payments as i have a card machine as well. BT kept saying my line is not with them and i needed to ring my provider any way to cut story short my provider rings me today and says that i should have my number back and line on thursday well its not good enough as i finish then for easter and re-open on the tuesday. This is two weeks that i've lost money/business what are BT going to do about it?

this is a communty forum for BT Retail where customers help customers.
your phoneline would be fixed by BT OPenreach and they will only deal with your provider as that is not BT.  you need to go back to your phone provider and see if they can help
there is nothing that can be done by BT Retail on this forum
this post is also 18month old!!!

  • Terrible service trying to move a phone line - Not...

    Hi,
I have been with my current BT phone line for 2 years and I was very happy with the service I was receiving. Therefore I decided to move my BT line to the new property I am moving into next month. I have called up BT for house moves, which arranged my move including setting up an appointment with an engineer and said that I will receive a confirmation quickly. In the meantime I have not received any confirmation and I was unable to see any order or appointment details online. This left me feeling unsure whether my order really was placed or not. As you can image I do not want to find myself in a situation where I take a day off work waiting for an assistant who is never going to turn up and waste my time having to do this all over again.
To gain some clarity, I emailed the customer service team listing all the details of my phone conversation with the assistant who placed the order and all the details about my account and the place I'll be moving. After a couple of days all I got was a generic response which had nothing to do with my original question. I resend my email asking for clarification and got nothing back. It has been 15 days since I spoke to the assitant and has heard nothing from no one so far. Things get more interesting after this:
Today I tried online chat with an assitant who told me that he can see that my order has been cancelled. When I asked why he said he will call me to explain. When I gave him my number he said "You live in Australia, right?". Which is ridiculous as my account clearly states that I am from the United Kingdom. When I asked him again on the phone why my order has been cancelled he said "Yeah yeah I'll just transfer you to the sales team and they can help you". I was then put on "hold" for 25 minutes waiting for the sales team to pick up my call. When they eventually did the lady who picked up the call said they don't deal with home moves (you can imagine my frustration at this point) and said she will transfer me to home moves which put me on an endless hold.
This leaves me in a sitaution where I have no idea what to do, even the assistants who are supposed to help me are unable to advice me. I think I am going to have to cancel my BT line and have to go with an alternative provider after the (lack of) quality of service I have experienced. The problem is I don't really know if my order has 'really' been cancelled therefore don't want to have to pay any cancellation fees if my order actually hasn't been cancelled.
This is incredibly frustrating as I now have to deal with the stress of moving a house as well as the stress of whether my phone order went through or not.
I am hoping someone here can advise me on what to do as this is my last resort.

    Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for your quick response. I have just spoken to an assistant over the phone who told me that my order has misteriously been cancelled (still no one knows why?). After all of this headache I told her to cancel my BT line on a specific date and I no longer wish to move the line to my new address. She also assured me that I do not need to pay any cancellation fees. However in the confirmation I just got sent, I can see this section:
    What you'll pay:
30 day rental liability charge - As we say in our terms and conditions, we need 30 days' notice to stop your BT services - so you'll need to pay for them for 30 days from the date you asked us to stop them. For more information about the 30 day notice period, go to bt.com/terms
My bill normally gets charged on the 30th of each month. I asked my line to be cancelled on 2nd of September. What I assumed (and what the assistant said) was that I am going to be paying until 2nd if September. I am very confused as to why I am being told this in the email?
    Thanks

  • I bought an iPhone 4S at a supplier who uses Talkmobile. When I called to port my number to GiffGaff they said the phone did not need to be unlocked even though the guy who sold my husband the phone at the Warehouse place said you did. Now I have an ac

I bought an iPhone 4S at a supplier who uses Talkmobile. When I switched to GiffGaff and asked the Talkmobile people to port my number and the code which they gave me, they told me my iPhone was never locked and did not need to be unlocked. Now my GiffGaff seems to be up and running and my husband can even leave new voicemail messages but I cannot access my phone. Everytime I put the SIM in it says it's not a valid SIM and that I need a supported carrier SIM. To me that sounds like the phone is locked.

My husband (who set this up) is going over to Carphone Warehouse right now. He seemed to think that it was locked. But when we asked the carrier we picked, they said it was not locked so they could not unlock it.
Are all of you answering these questions familiar with the UK carriers? I am from the US but this was bought and serviced in the UK--nothing to do with the US.
Maybe the vendor who sold the phone can/will unlock it for us no problem. I guess I will know in the next 5-6 hours. I have just been without a phone for almost an entire day now and it's very frustrating and I thought someone might have had this exact problem and could answer the question for me outright.
Thanks for everyone's help. Sorry to take up your time.

  • Can't place a broadband order - phone line not rec...

    Hello,
I had a new BT phone line installed on Monday October 1st. I want to place a broadband order with another ISP, yet over a week later I'm still not able to, due to the line not being recognised as a BT line.
The ISP I have tried to place an order with have specifically told me the following:
"I've checked the number and can confirm that BT have yet to update their database to show the line as active."
All I want to do is get BT to update their database so that I can proceed to place a broadband order with this company. However, I am having a horrible time trying to convey this to anyone in a BT call centre. I've been put on hold for ages, passed around from department to department, told there are no faults on the line and that noone can help me, told that its not a BT line and that noone can help me (that was quite an amusing one!) and told it will be fixed in 48 hours.... which it wasn't.
Does anyone know what I can do to get this resolved? I don't think I'm asking for much... all I'm after is the ability to place a broadband order on the new phone line I had installed over a week ago.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

  • Phone line not working but Infinity is Fine

We had a huge thunderstorm last Monday, which caused a power cut.
Since then, our phone line is dead (it just makes a clicking noise), although if you ring our number, it appears to be ringing (which it isn't).
However, BT Infinity is working even faster.
I did the on-line check of our service and it says there is no fault, and so if I call out a BT engineer, it could cost me £130!!
I'm sure it isn't working, as I've tried an old cordless phone (which I haven't used for years) and I still get the clicking.
I've read that one of the wires may be dead, but I don't know what course of action to take.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Rich

I have checked our telephones in the test socket, and they work fine, but not through the normal socket!!
Then there is a fault in that socket, which Openreach will charge to replace. They go faulty quite often, but you can replace them yourself.
You can get around the problem by plugging a microfilter into the test socket, and then plugging the phone and broadband into the microfilter.

  • How do you share one iTunes with two phones but not get each other's apps when you sync?

My husband doesn't want to have the kid's apps or my apps download on his iphone when he syns to our one iTunes library....suggestions?

Each device will ONLY sync what you select.
Just do not select the apps that you do not want.  Only select the apps that you do want.

  • Is two-pass VBR not needed if less than 60 minutes?

Just curious... I've read that single-pass will result in the same quality as two-pass for projects less than 60 minutes.

Single pass may result in superior quality. Two pass VBR is necessary to squeeze file sizes and bit rates to fit within DVD parameters.

  • New 7100i - Provisioning for Multiple Phone Lines

I just received a new 7100i from Nextel, and absolutely need support for two phone lines.  Although Nextel assures me that this is supported, I'd expect this to be documented somewhere in the User Manual.  It's not, and I am wondering whether Sprint/Nextel has lied to me yet again, or Blackberry has failed to fully document the features available.  Can anyone tell me if two-line support is offered by this model?  If not, it's going back to Nextel Monday morning...
If so, can I transfer both lines using the Nextel website, or do I have to use phone support via landline to accomplish the switch from my current phone?
    Thanks a bunch!

    hello,
the question you are asking is not a general Blackberry smartphone function and feature. I think you will have more answers if you post your question on the dedicated board for 7100i :
