Ultrasonic c-scan using LeCroy LT342 scope and NI motion controller

I imagine this may seem simple, but can anyone help me get started trying to set up an automated ultrasonic c-scan rig using a NI stepper control card and a LeCroy scope hooked up via a NI GPIB card? I have some knowledge in wiring up motion control hardware, but not so much in setting up any software. I would like to be able to use an interface to pick the x and y axis scan space and step size, and also control the scope a little. The data display and storing features would also be something I haven't yet worked out. I have used WinSpect software, and something of this sort (except more configurable on our part) would be good if you have ever seen this software. Is there a good example piece of code I could possibly start and build from? Thanks!

denyart,
You might get more responses by posting to either the Instrument Control board or the Motion board. We do have an instrument driver for the LeCroy LT342 for LabVIEW and CVI here:
LeCroy LT342 Instrument Driver
That should get you started off on the right track as far as the instrument control is concerned. As far as Motion is concerned I would recommend posting to the Motion board! Hope that helps!

  • OCR scan using PhotoSmart Premium C309g and Mac OS X 10.8.5?

Greetings! I'm wondering if there's a way to scan text documents in an OCR format from my PhotoSmart Premium C309g to my Mac, which is running 10.8.5?
When I updated to 10.8, I downloaded the required driver from the Apple store. It works well for photos, but not so well for text files. The "text" option is grainy and not very readable. The black-and-white option works better, but the text is still dim, regardless of how I manipulate the manual settings.
I've seen responses that are three or four years old to a similar question relevant to earlier versions of Mac OS X, but I'm wondering if there's a work-around for 10.8?
If not, can you tell me if the driver for 10.9 includes an OCR option?
    Thanks much!

    Hi krisc,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are wondering how to scan text documents in an OCR format, using your HP Photosmart Premium c309g and Mac OS X 10.8.5. I am happy to help you with this issue!
At this time there is no OCR software for this printer for Mac OS X 10.8.5 or newer. I would however suggest looking for Third-Party software that could possibly work, with Mac OS X 10.8.5, and this particular printer.
Hope this answers your question, and have a great day!

Hi thanks for the reply.  Yes I have used the ACR view to specify which inputs to use before.  I used input 0 for the positive limit, input 1 for the negative limit, and input 2 for the home switch.  However, when using ACR view the switch kept displaying that the switch had been tripped when nothing was pressing against it.  I would also try pressing on the mechanical switch to see at least if the value would change but to no avail.

    Hi,
Is the printer connected to your PC by USB or network?
By using USB connection, you may scan using the Windows Fax and Scan software integrated into your OS.
Scanning through a network connection unfortunately supported on Windows7 32 bit only, as you  may find listed within the About network scanning section below:

    Hy there.

Can anybody help me to initiallize/Use the Encoders in Labview 6.01?
    thanks, phil.

    Phil,
It looks to me according to the error that you were trying to use DAQ functions to access the Motion controller. The Motion controller uses its own functions. There are two for reading position:
Functions Palette >> Motion & Vision >> Flexmotion >> Trajectory Control >> Read Position.
    Functions Palette >> Motion & Vision >> Flexmotion >> Analog & Digital I/O >> Read Encoder Position.
You may find a useful example in:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6.1\examples\Motion\FlexMotion\One Axis.llb\One Axis Move with Position Monitor.vi
Make sure that you have configured and initialized your board properly in MAX.
I would suggest that you post your question on the Motion Control section and not in the LabVIEW section. Also, check the Dev
elopment Library section of the NI Developer Zone for the Motion Control section with tutorials and example code.
    Good luck!

    Hello @doughboy914,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing issues when attempting to scan from your HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One C410a Printer to your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Now, due to the age of your printer HP does not have a downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver available for this model of printer on the Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Therefore, you are relying solely on an Apple Update driver in order to use the functions of your machine. Because you are only able to scan single page documents only there is a chance that the Apple Update driver failed to load successfully for your machine. To correct any software or driver conflicts that may be occuring, can I please have you follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Uninstall Printer:
It is important for troubleshooting purposes that we remove any existing instances of your printer from your computer so we have a nice clean slate to work with. Please click here to access the proper steps on how to remove your device. Once the support page opens please select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Next, please follow the steps under Method one, and Method two to reset your print system and uninstall your device. Once your HP Photosmart has been successfully removed please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
     Step 3: Manually Load Driver:
Please click here to manually download and install the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 package for your Apple computer. Once the driver package has been downloaded, follow any onscreen instructions to install the package.
Once the driver package has been loaded successfully, please proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
    Step 5: Add the Printer:
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. If your printer is already listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer
    4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you have the HP Photosmart driver selected and not the AirPrint.
    6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
    - Source
Now that your printer is installed, please test printing and scanning to confirm that everything is now functioning properly. For instructions on the three supported methods of scanning in Mac OS X 10.10 please click here. Once the support document opens please follow the steps under 'Step 3: Scan the Document of Photo' and then choose the method you want to scan through.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Best of luck!

  • How can I obtain a scope like presentation using measurement studio and VB?

    Is this possible?
Some sample code would be helpful.  I am used to setting up virtual channels in the Measurement and automation software and then referencing the virtual channel number in the properties of the active x control in VB.  I can't figure out how to accomplich this with the scope active x control.
    Thanks

    Hello Cubby!
I am assuming when you say you want to use the Scope ActiveX control in
VB6 that you are refering too the IVISCOPE activeX control.  This
control will allow you to have the O-Scope type interface with little
to no programming.   Please notice this will be different
then using MAX because you will need to have an IVI session of your
    scope set up.
After Adding this component to your project simply lay it on the
form.  Next in the property page associated with the control find
the 'Custom' property.  Click on the '...' button inside the
property which will bring up a attribute page.  Finally, select
your IVI scope session that was configured in MAX or if your using an
NI scope board enter the resource in the DAQ::x::INSTR format.  To
verify that everything is setup correctly click on the 'Configuration'
tab and click the Verify button.

by simply configuring the control correctly.  Have a great day!

How to set up Yosemite 10.10.1 to print and scan using CANON PIXMA MP780 on MacBook Pro (Pre-Yosemite operating system OS X10.6.8)?
Yosemite 10.10.1 doesn't seem to support MP780. Also, CANON doesn't have a driver for Yosemite 10.10.1 for its MP 780 series.

I believe you should be able to print wirelessly using your MBP and printer. However, you will want to visit the Canon home site and download the current drivers and firmware for your printer. Once you've done this, I hope you'll post back with your results.

    Hello,
I want to connect a Lecroy Wavesurfer 454 to Labview.
First I used the VICP connection, and installed the VICP passport.
It does not work with NI MAX but it does with Lecroy Wavestudio.
Then I used the LXI/VXI-11 connection but Ni MAX does not detect my scope and Lecroy Wavestudio as well.
Further information, I don't use both softwares at the same time, the scope and the computer have ping responds.
I have updated the scope to the latest firmware 6.8.1.4 32 bit Firmware Upgrade.
The only way that Ni MAX reachs to connect to the scope it throug : TCPIP0::ipadress:1861OCKET. But then I have Time out error.
    Thanks for help

    Hello,
You have a few choices here.  NI-MAX (more specifically, NI-VISA) stopped working with the VICP resource when NI introduced 64 bit LabVIEW support. (It stopped when the NI-VISA Interactive Tool GUI changed).
You can use an older version of NI-VISA (I do not recommend this method), or you can simply enable the VICP passport in NI-MAX and use LabVIEW to test the connection.
The VISA resource for the VICP interface will be:  VICP::<IP address of scope>
I have attached a VI I wrote (pretty easy, but I added some images and comments to help with the scope side and resource names as well) to help test this out. (I have it in LabVIEW versions 2009, 2010, and 2011)  I am providing the 2011 version.  Let me know if you need one of the others.
The VICP connection uses the custom port but with the resource you used (that specified the port), the VICP passport is not being utilized by NI-VISA so you may get responses to some legacy 488 commands but that is the extent of it.  (i.e. *IDN? may work, but C1:VDIV 1.0 would not).
    I hope this helps!

  • TS3147 After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple,"

After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple,"  This problem happened right after I installed Mountain Lion. I then downloaded Canon's upgraded software and drivers for the MX 870 and the problem was resolved. Now one month later, the problem has returned.

Solved problem with original Canon software.  When I downloaded Canon software upgraded for OS X 10.8, I got all by Navigator Ex. Noticed that on Canon's site, the upgraded version is 3.1; my app was 2.1. Upgraded to 3.1 for Nav. Ex, and it works.
You should still use Image Capture IMHO.  If it was my gear, that's what I would do.  No need to worry about software upgrades.

  • I can no longer scan using HP d110 after Mavericks

I have tried so many work-arounds to fix this issue!  I've read countless threads, deleted and re-installed drivers (although according to mac and hp, this wasn't necessary), I've tried scanning using the Print/Scan utility, Image Capture, Preview and Webscan and NOTHING works.  The scan begins (so I know that the printer and communicating) but then I get an error message that says "An error occurred while communicating with the scanner."
My printer works fine.  But scan - which worked just fine before installing Mavericks - no longer works.  Help!

    Hi urbanfitchick,
I understand that you are getting a scan error. I will do my best to help you resolve this issue in Mavericks. I suggest trying to do a copy from the printer, this is to establish that the scan function is working properly on the printer. If you cannot do a copy then there is a problem with the scanner hardware and we will have to address that issue first.  If there is no problems doing the copy then I recommend that you power cycle the network.
    How to power cycle network
Follow these steps to reset your HP printer, your wireless router, and your computer.
1.Press the Power button on the HP printer to turn it off.
2.Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP printer.
3.Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.
    4.Turn off the computer.
    5.Wait 30 seconds.
6.Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.
7.Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready.
    8.Turn the computer back on.
9.Wait for the computer to reload.
10.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP printer.
    11.Turn the printer back on.
    Then reset the Printing System
Resetting the Printing System in Mac
Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
Hold down the Option key while clicking the "-" (Remove printer) button.
If no printers are currently added, hold down the Control key while clicking in the box that appears above the "+" (Add printer) button, then choose Reset printing system… from the contextual menu
Once you have the printer installed here is a document on How to Scan: OS X v10.9

I am including this link for other options for scanning as well.

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.
