UMI 7764 second axis not working

I have a strange problem with my NI motion control setup and I wondered if anyone could help me.
I have the following setup:
PCI-7330 connected to a UMI-7764
Connected to the UMI-7764 I have two P70530 stepper drives, themselves connected to two Nema-23 stepper motors with shaft encoders wired back to the UMI-7764. All following the manual.
The 'Inhibit Input' switch is set to active high and the 'Inhibit output' switch is set to active low.
Both P70530 drives initialise (solid green LED). The stepper drive and motor connected via the 'Axis 1' terminals of the UMI-7764 works fine. The second one, connected via the 'Axis 2' terminals does not. When I attempt to start a motion via MAX, the motor audibly "clicks" once and then disengages. The drive then has a flashing green LED.
The motor will remain disengaged until I attempt a motion in the opposite direction, at which point the same "click" is heard and the motor is now engaged. No motion other than the vibration caused by the motor engaging/disengaging occurs.
Both drives and encoders are wired identically into the UMI. I have switched the cables with the drive that works, as well as the drives themselves and even the motors. The result is always the same; the drive/motor wired to 'Axis 1' works fine and 'Axis 2' "clicks" but doesn't move.
I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone can provide, please.

A bit more information in case anyone can help me:
Repeating the attempted motions in MAX for each axis I probed the poles of the UMI connected to the stepper drive. The results are below.
The Inhibit Input of Axis 2 seems to be always at 5V.
The 'Inhibit Input' switch on the UMI is set to active high and the 'Inhibit output' switch is set to active low. I would have expected, therefore, that reversing these switches would make Axis 1 stop working and Axis 2 start working. However, when I did this Axis 1 stopped working but Axis 2 continued the same behaviour (i.e. any attempted motion causes the motor to "click" and then disengage).
I also attempted to reverse the Inhibit Input action via MAX, but the option is greyed out.
Is there any reason why Axis 2 would be forced into having Inhibit Input at 5V? And, more to the point, is there a setting to stop it happening, or is this a hardware failure?

  • Mouse to switch primary and seconds buttons not working on Forms 6i

    Hi All,
I am facing problem while i am using Form6i Application on web.
We have a couple users that they are left hand. When they set their mouse to switch primary and seconds buttons under windows setup.
The menus do not worked on Form6i Application, unless the user uses the keyboard.
On Form10g it's working fine but on Form6i it's not working.
    Thanks in Advance.

Hi Craig and thanks for replying,
The way I created the roll was under my username, not the administrator user. The first time I was not able to create a roll from my user, but I did this to be able to do it: GRANT CREATE ROLL TO <MY USERNAME>
The way I enabled the the Roles on y menu was as follows:
    1) I open menu using Forms 6i.
    2) Right click on my menu name and choose Property Palette.
    3) Under Menu Security, I choose Use Security and select "Yes".
    4) Under Module Roles, I typed a name for that role.
    5) I go to SQL and create the new Role under my username giving the role the same name I gave it on Forms. This is how I created: Create role <Role Name>
    6) Then I just assign that role to my user, like this: Grant <Rolename> to <username>
    Hope this helps!!
    Thanks again in advance!!

  • Precompile and page-check-seconds elements not working in 9.2

    Hi,
I am coming across a very wierd error, and was wondering if anyone could help. We have a plain struts webapp deployed on weblogic 9.2.2, and i am trying to improve performance by adding the <precompile> and <page-check-seconds> tags to the weblogic.xml. Here is the relevant section:
              <jsp-descriptor>
              <debug>true</debug>
              <precompile>true</precompile>
              <page-check-seconds>-1</page-check-seconds>
              </jsp-descriptor>
However, when the server starts up, I get the following error saying the precompile and page-check-seconds are not allowed:
D:\bea92\user_projects\domains\ejDomain\applications\ej\WEB-INF\weblogic.xml:45:10:45:10: problem: cvc-complex-type.2.4b: Element not allowed: precompile@http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90 in element jsp-descriptor@http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90:<D:\bea92\user_projects\domains\ejDomain\applications\ej/WEB-INF/weblogic.xml:45:10>
Could someone please help figure this out? All help is appreciated.
              Thanks,
              Vik.

  • 2010 MBP15 SMS sensor Z-axis not working?

    Hello all,
Today I downloaded the Seismac utility:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/math_science/seismac.html
The X and Y axis appear to be functioning normally but the Z-axis remains at 1.00g at all times.
I am somewhat concerned since this means that if I drop my notebook along the Z-axis this would mean that the drive wouldn't park its head to help mitigate damage to the platter.
So I want to ask other 2010 MBP15 owners to try the Seismac utility above and see if their Z-axis sensor works too.

  • Tv as second monitor not working

I connect my iMac to my Samsung TV using a displayport to VGA adaptor. It had been working fine up until now. when I put my tv in PC mode it just turns off.
Is this a problem wuth the mac or the TV

Clicking on gather windows here and nothing seems to be happening. Not sure what you mean about the tv display dialog, but when the hdmi + adapter is plugged into the tv, the tv screen reads "no signal." When I unplug the cord from the back of my computer, the tv screen reads "check signal cable."
FWIW, the adapter that connects the hdmi cable to the back of the computer has been loose for some time. I would often have to wiggle it a bit to get the signal to pass to the tv. When I did this, the computer screen would often flash blue for a second. This' no longer happening when I wiggle the cable. Perhaps I just need a new adapter? Thanks for the reply.

  • 'number of retries allowed & retry interval in seconds' does not working

    Hi Guys,
Is there a way to schedule a report to run,and if the report job fail for whatever reason, retry the job again immediately, and automatically?
I've tried use 'number of retries allowed' and 'retry interval in seconds', but it doesn't work.
Is there any setup that we missed?
    note:
i can receive notification [failed/success] through email without any problem..

    Hi,
I think, for adapter engine, you can do it in Visual Admin.

  • Second iphone not working as it should

Hi, i posted some days ago about my iphone having white screen of death on my iphone after 3 mins of usage, to make a long story short, i got a new iphone. But this time there's something wrong with the touchpad, it just stops working from time to time, especially when ure using some app and then pressing the home button back to the menu, thats where it stops the most. Not responding at all, sometimes it wakes up by pressing the home button twice(go to search and back to menu).
What to do?! Should i return this one aswell and just hope that the next iphone works?
Wonder how many iphones it will take before i get a 100% working one.

Tamara is right. Try a reset. If that doesn't work, try a Restore. However, I would restore as a new phone first, regardless of Apple's advice, since there may be something corrupt carrying over from a previous backup. I have upgraded and restored several iPhones, always as a new phone, and never had a problem.

  • Umi-7774 power is not working ( request help urgently)

I have a umi-7774 and a pci-7340 controller, and they were working well, but suddenly when i try to turn on the umi-7774 again, the isolation power led was illuminated but the power led itself didn't illuminate, it only illuminate at the first contact of power supply, so i hope you can help me solve this problem as soon as possible.

Thank you for your reply, even it is late but anyway thank you, the problem was in my battery that supply power to UMI, since i go to the supplier office here, and the engineer there powers the UMI by a power supply with him, and the umi works properely, but what confuse me that when i measure the voltage out from my battery the voltage was 24V, and the current also was high, so i donnot know what is the problen with my battery

  • Taking ownership of a second harddrive not working.

    Hi,
I was editing a picture for a forum profile and making some tweaks.  So I tried deleting the failed photo and got this message, "You need permission to perform this action.  You require permission from the computer's administrator to
    make changes to this file."
I'm familiar with taking ownership; so I went to the hard drive level, Properties, and the Security Tab.  I noticed my current user was not in the list; so I went in Edit, and added myself (giving full control in the process). Then I went back and tried
to delete the photo, and it still said I needed permission.  So then I figured I might as well take ownership of the hard drive.  I went through that whole process, and when I clicked the final Ok, I got this stupid "Failed to enumerate....Access
    is denied."  message.
It should not be this difficult to delete a picture from my second hard drive.  I have gone through several tutorials and all have failed.
    Help is appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi,
Why didn't you take ownership of that file instead of all drive? Alternative, please check if you replace owner on subcontainers and objects as below:
Meanwhile, confirm if the owner is changed to your current user account successfully.

  • Wireless not working on boot

I have an older PC (so it's not moving much...), and I'm trying to set up wireless connection trough a USB wireless adapter (Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501USB Wireless Adapter).
I have the correct drivers installed, and everything set up (doulbe checked of course).
The wireless setup during boot-time does not works, and prints the error message
Could not associate $1 - try increasing WIRELESS_TIMEOUT and check network is WEP or has no security
If I run iwgetid immeadiateley after login, I get the following output:
    $ iwgetid wlan0 -ra

On the other hand, if I try a
    sudo /etc/rc.d/network start
after I log in, it works flawlessley.
    I've tried the following:
--> setting WIRELESS_TIMEOUT to 10 seconds, does not works (only after boot)
--> double checking the setup lines
--> reading the /etc/rc.d/network script, and executing the commands manually, it works

    $ sudo iwgetid wlan0 -ra
    [the MAC-ADDRESS of wlan0, differring from 00:00:00:00:00:00]
--> stopping and starting the /etc/rc.d/network script, it works

Activating the usb hooks in the ramdisk did not done the job, as the network demon only runs late in boottime (maybe I'm just being imprecise, i'm meaning the part, where it already entered the final runlevel).
On the other hand, I did tracked down the problem, and I beliveve it's some kind of desing-flaw in the wireless USB utility. (Or I'm just not aware of a certain feature in it.)
I modified /etc/rc.d/network to resend the iwconfig to the device after the 2 second sleep, and it seems to work sometimes.
    /etc/rc.d/network: (added lines in wi_up())

My only question now is that how could I achieve the same solution in a more elegant way, I'm a bit confused, because the above script does the exact same stuff that my modified /etc/rc.d/network would supposed to be doing.

  • Thinkpad W530 problem - Microphone not working

    Hi,
My W530 microphone's not working. Whenever any problem tries to use it (skype, audacity), it always shows a quick activity (about 0.5 ms), always with the same from - and nothing more, ever.
I have installed drivers from realtec, and the drivers from lenovo, nothing works.
I done wha said in all other forumes (sound->manage sound devices), - disable listening, disable all featues or enable, as well as chagne settings to the highest availble. Nothing helps.
This has been so since I bought this computer about a month ago.
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    Please help

    Hi again, matanm
Is the microphone still coming on for a brief second before not working again, as you mentioned in your first post? Also, can you take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool of your Sound ► Recording settings? You can navigate to this by right-clicking on the Sound icon in the taskbar and selecting Recording devices. Also, if you haven't already, I would download the Realtek driver again from Lenovo's website here
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam.

  • Profiles not working as expected

I have created a simple publication for a webi report  using efashion uiniverse. It's in BO 4.0. I have created 2 profiles. One is State=California and another is Month= 2. If I add any one of the profile to the publication, it works fine.
    Example:
Case 1: when I add the profile state=california to the publication, i get data for only state=California.
Case 2: If i remove the profile state=california and add profile month= 2 to the publication , then i get data only for month=2.
Case 3: Now if I add both the profiles state=california and month=2, i get data for sate=california and for all the months. The profile month=2 doesn't get applied.
what's happening is that the profile which is added first is getting processed while the profile added second is not working. If I add the profile month=2 first and then profile state=california, then only month =2 gets applied and not state=california.
Is there any settings that may be causing this behaviour?

  • Second display stopped working

    Greetings all,
I have an Intel-based 20" iMac, running 10.5.8. For over 2 years I've been using a second monitor by way of the mini DVI adaptor on the back. Just last week the iMac stopped recognizing the second monitor so to speak (screen stays black, but I can grab things like Finder windows and drag them over to where the second monitor should be, and if i disconnect the cable from the iMac to the second monitor, then reconnect it toggles like it wants to recognize it, but doesn't complete it). I checked the monitor, and it does work with a different computer. I also purchased a new dvi-mini dvi connector through Apple hoping that would fix it. I attached the new connector and my computer recognized my monitor and everything was fine, for one day. Now it's not recognizing it again. Anyone have this problem? Any solutions?

Hey - I was just wondering if you'd had any resolution to your issue of the second monitor not working? I just came home from being out of town and my second monitor has stopped working? It shows as though it is in stand-by (according to the power button) but nothing more. Not really sure what to do as I've already checked all the connections and etc. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

  • How to send an analog output signal on same axis running a stepping motor umi 7764/ PCI7334

I am running a single axis stepping motor (which is working fine) but
for the application I need to be able to turn on and off a 5 volt
laser.  It notes in the manual for the UMI 7764  that the the
analog output can be used as a general-purpose voltage output.  I
would like to use it as such, but can't figure out what VI's actually
send messages to the board to output a 5 Volt signal.
Ideally I would use the analog output on the same axis that the
stepping motor is on, but if need be I could use one of the other axis
if this isn't possible (ie. it may not be possible to step and send
analog voltage output on same axis at same time).  I have been
looking at the configuring DAQ and ADC stuff, but can't seem to make
sense if these actually control the analog output channel.  I
think they just control the Analog input channels, but maybe I am
    wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Andre

    Hi,
It is possible to send analog output out of the same same DAC channel in which your stepper is connected, if you configure the stepper as open loop in MAX. I've tried it. This way you have the stepper output, analog output and encoder input acting independently. So you can use these seperately for different purposes, such as using the analog output for constant speed motors where speed or position control is not of much importance, encoder for positioning some other axes and stepper output for stepper control. With good programming skills, the NI motion controllers can thus be used for the most complex configurations. Great work NI !!! Nothing is impossible.

  • What is /INHIN1 terminal in the UMI-7764? It's not in the 7344 HW user manual.

What is the purpose of the /INHIN1 terminal and how does it relate to the Inhibit Output signal?

The basic purpose of the inhibit circuitry is to shut down the drive and inform other components in the system if a fault is detected. The UMI-7764 has circuitry onboard that will OR together four different sources of inhibits; the per axis controller inhibits, the per axis external inhibits (INHINx), the external inhibit all (INHALL), and the host bus interlock. You can use the INHINx lines to shut down an individual axis or the INHALL line to shut down all axes. These are typically wired to the "fault" output of the drive(s) you are using. When the UMI detects an inhibit from any of the four sources, then it will generate an inhibit signal on the INHOUTx lines. The INHOUTx lines are generally connected to the "enable" inputs on the drive(s). The polarity o
f the INHINx and INHOUTx lines is configurable using the switches on the UMI.
Do not simply tie any of these signals high or low with a jumper. Failure to properly connect the inhibit/enable signals can cause (and has caused) expensive damage to your motion system.
