Unable to access WEP Wireless after Sno Leopard Install

Works with 10.5. No longer works. Using WEP. Times out when connecting

Many have found it necessary to change to WPA2 or, possibly, WPA. I would change for both ease of operation and security. I hope your router allows at least WPA.

Out of the blue, my ITouch is unable to access my wireless network ONLY when my PC is on (the PC is connected via Ethernet cable, and has no wireless capabilities that I know of).  What gives?  When the PC is turned off, everything is totally fine.  I\m stumped.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
I suspect a problem with your router. Try changing the security. First use no security as a test.
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install

HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • Cannot restart after failed Leopard install

Attempted to install Leopard on iBook with appropriate processor speed. Installation fails. Reran installer and let DVD be checked. States problem with DVD. When I try to restart the computer, it will not restart. Spinning wheel just keeps spinning. I cannot get the DVD to eject.
I have already had to pay to have 24" iMac fixed after failed Leopard install, 2-3 hours trying to get through to Apple, and prior to posted comments on installation problems on the web site.
So far lousy product and very lousy service/support.

To eject the disc - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50991
Once you eject the disc, gently clean it before reinserting it. Some dvd drives are very fussy about the media.

  • Lenovo G50-30 Unable to access BIOS settings after Windows recovery

    Hi
I recently 'downgraded' a recently purchased Lenovo G50-30 with preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 using a UEFI USB install on a GPT partition. I also updated the BIOS from A7CN40WW to the latest A7CN43WW and all was working fine. However, after performing a necessary restore of an system image created using the Windows 7 backup and restore tool, I am suddenly unable to access the BIOS settings, either with the novo button (I do get the menu to select BIOS) or with Fn +F2. All that happens is that I receive a blank screen with a static cursor in the upper left corner. I can however still access the boot menu Fn +F12. This is a particular pain as I obviousl can't select USB 3.0 in BIOS.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I managed to clear CMOS by disassembling and desoldering a leg off the the RTC battery but to no avail. The problem seems to be that BIOS a7cn43ww itself has somehow been corupted. In theory this should be able to be resolved by a reflash. The trouble here is there seems to be no way to reflash with a current or previous BIOS version, so I'll have to either wait for a newer version or someone may know better.
C'mon Lenovo support this simply isn't good enough. It's a brand new laptop and I'm considering returning it for a refund.

  • Please help - missing startup disk after attempted Leopard Install!

I tried to install Leopard last night on my 20" iMac 2.4 ghz Intel machine. I went through the initial installation screens, and when it came to the "Select a destination screen," nothing showed up for about 20 minutes, so eventually, I restarted the computer, thinking it had froze [I have since learned that the computer was actually verifying the disk during that time, but of course, there's no progress bar to let you know that].
Now, when I try to install Leopard, it says that I cannot install Leopard without a full erase and install. I suppose that would be fine - except I can't get to Tiger to back things up. My hard disk does not show up as an option in the "Startup Disk" utility, and sure enough, when I start up the computer, all I get is the flashing folder with the question mark. I've also tried running the Disk Utility to verify/repair my hard drive, but it continues to tell me the process failed, and I can't get beyond that point. Any thoughts for how to get back to Tiger, so I can get to my old files and backup! It seems ridiculous that basically putting the Leopard DVD into my hard drive would have made me unable to access my old files! Please help if you have any advice!

Hope you found a better solution to your problem. I had the EXACT same situation. I used Data Rescue II to recover my files. It is really important that you NOT download it. Go to the Apple Store or another reseller and buy the disk, because you will need the Emergency Bootable Disk. Put it in your drive and hold down the 'C' button. When it loads, you'll be able to recover your files. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, THOUGH: You must have an external drive connected to your computer in order to copy the files from your hard drive. Good luck!!

  • Text messages in Safari are garbled on Mac Pro after Snow Leopard install

When reading or composing my Yahoo mail text messages in Safari on my Mac Pro after Snow Leopard, the wording is very garbled. Looks like o's, s's, c's, some caps, with lots of spaces intermixed. Messages look ok on Firefox, on same machine. New messages and reading sent messages look ok on my MacBook and MB Air. When cutting and pasting into something else (like this window), the text looks fine. I can compose and send messages that look garbled, but the right words and letters go out. HTML messages look ok. Any clues for solution?

I have this happening in bunch of different HTML pages. Here's a screenshot of the same page in Safari (Version 4.0.3 (6531.9)) and Mac OS X 1.6.1 side by side with Camino:
    https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/362958/miscwebimages/Screen%20shot%202009-09-22%20at%2018.35.47.png
Camino renders the page correctly. Safari is really unusable with this problem. Tried switching to and from 64-bit mode in Safari, didn't help either.

  • TM backup disk cannot be found after Snow Leopard install

Message from elsewhere re-posted here after helpful advice from Apple Discussions Team.
Just installed Snow Leopard (with TM switched off though not unplugged) and got all the software updates available. I re-installed the TM installation disk. Everything went ok until I wanted to restore from my Time Capsule. I switched the big switch on. TM is continuing to make backups but when I want to locate folders to restore TM won't go back further than the day I installed Snow Leopard. Having selected the TM disk and entered the password the dialogue tells me that the TM backup disk cannot be found and offers me the select disk dialogue again. I have gone through the unplug/plug routine.
Through Migration Assistant I tried the contents of my Pictures folder (including all my iPhoto libraries) but it just supplied an empty folder. Since I didn't migrate at the time of the Snow install I wonder whether it was migrating the earliest backup it had made after the Snow install. This would make sense if "the Time Machine backup disk cannot be found", as the dialogue keeps telling me.
    Anyone any ideas?

I'm not sure just what you did.
Did you reinstall Snow Leopard? Did you do a full restore?
First, just re-select your Time Capsule in TM Preferences.
If that doesn't help, try a "Full Reset" of TM per #A4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
If that doesn't help, see #E2 there.
If still no help, use the Finder to see if you have two sparse bundles on your Time Capsule. If so, try mounting one manually by double-clicking it, then using the Browse option per #E2.

  • Kernal panic after failed Leopard install

Was upgrading a MacMini from the installed 10.4 system to 10.5. The install reported a problem reading the DVD during the first phase of the install (when the DVD and platform was being analyzed) and before any install started.
Rather than removing the DVD, I went ahead and ran the install a second time, this time hitting SKIP during the first phase. This move the install to the actual install which tried to start but stopped after less than a minute again reporting a problem reading the DVD.
Since I wasn't sure how to eject the DVD from within the installer, I decided to boot using the 10.4 installed system. Within seconds (just after the apple logo was displayed) there was a kernal panic. A complete shutdown and reboot of the Mini failed to solve the problem and the panic occurred again at the same location in startup.
I got help on how to remove the DVD and, sure enough, it did have a water spot which I cleaned and re-ran the 10.5 install which was successful. I'm able to boot the new system with any panic.
I ran a repair disk just to make sure there wasn't some other problem that might have been unrelated to the failed install but no errors (other than a couple APL not found messages) were found.
My intent is to migrate from a G4, now also running 10.5 but this experience has left me a little concerned that there may be a problem on the Mini that may not have been resolved through the successful Leopard install.
Are there other tests or utilities I can run to get more comfortable that the panic is gone before I do the migrate?
    Thanks
    Tom

Use the Apple Hardware Test program that shipped with the machine and then follow up with running Rember. Once that's done, install Leopard and migrate from the G4, make a bootable backup/clone of the new installation, and then apply any subsequent updates.

  • Disk Full Error after Clean Leopard Install-MacPro

  • Mac won't power up after trying Leopard install.  Black screen of death.

After trying to install an upgrade from Tiger, the installer said that if I wanted to continue, it would install a new volume and erase all my data. That sounded bad, so I hit cancel and chose quit installer from the menu bar. My mac asked which OS I wanted to use to restart my computer, and naturally I chose Tiger, not Leopard. My mac tried to restart and I got the apple logo and the little wheel spinning and then...off. Shut Down. Happens every time I hit the power button. Logo, wheel, off. I was on the phone with apple support for 2 hours and they sent me to a store finally. There they said it was a problem with file corruption on my computer. Not Leopard. They said they were having no problems with Leopard except for people trying to install it on an older model and similar issues. HELP!

    This doesn't sound good at all . . .
Did the Apple store test your power supply? It would be good
to know that the basic hardware functions properly.
And did you try booting from your Tiger install DVD? Assuming
you can get this far, run Disk Utility from the DVD and check the
disk - if it finds bad stuff on your disk, and can't fix it, you
probably do have a corrupted disk. The only solution may be to
reformat the disk - hope you had a backup copy . . .
A big guess on my part is this happened when you hit Cancel on
    the install.
If you have Apple Care (and everyone with a laptop should have
it), take it to the store, and let them fix it. You'll have a
nice, clean 10.4.10 on it (or Leopard if you want), and you can
    start over . . . :^(
    Good luck . . .
