Unable to activate remote DVR

I apologize for starting a new thread about a solved issue, however I have been unable to get anyone in customer support to fix my problem. I am unable to use the remote DVR feature on FIOS TV Central. When I sign in, I can view TV listings, and both of my STBs are listed in the My-STBs link, however I am never given an option to enter my confirmation code from my DVR into the website to activate it for use with the remote DVR feature. Here is the link to the "Solved" Thread.
Thanks in advance.

bump, Spent an hour on the phone with a verizon Tech who wasn't able to solve my problem because they STILL haven't received training on the feature . He transferred me to billing, where I sat on hold for ~30 mins only to end up with Pennsylvania Billing (I am in Texas), so now I'm on hold waiting for Texas billing, who won't solve my problem because I know I have the required Home Media DVR. I know employees on this forum have fixed this problem before. Please Help!
Ended up with California this time - maybe the third time is the charm...

  • Remote DVR will not work?

I signed up for FIOS when it first came to my area. Verizon installed a basic Netgear router. I since upgraded to a wireless Netgear router about 4 years ago. We just upgraded our DVR to a Home Media and tried to turn on the remote DVR. But when I go to the web site it says remote DVR will not work without original Verizon router. I don't understand why it won't work. Is there a setting or something in the router to make it work or do I need a different router that Verizon has to provide? I am guessing the original router I had wouldn't work either because it is the same brand as the one I have now.

Called and got a Westell router today. Got it all hooked up and internet and TV are working fine but I still can't activate remote DVR. The DVR has an access code listed, tells me to go to the website and sign in with my verizon.net id. I do and I still get the error remote DVR not possible with third party router. Any more help?

  • Remote DVR Activation Failure but using VZ Router

I tried to activate remote DVR but received the error:
"Remote DVR is not supported on non-Verizon routers.
Remote DVR service works only with the Verizon supplied routers and with no changes to the original setup. Since you are using your own router and/or firewall setup we cannot enable Remote DVR on your account."
I am using Verizon supplied D-Link DI-624 router, have all original settings, but do MAC filtering (as suggested by VZ!)
How can I activate the feature?

Well I just went through the same trouble, but was using the first revision of Actiontec router. If you have TV service and use the old D-Link you must have a Motorola NIM-100 for your set top boxes to get all the IP features. When my TV was installed they swaped out the DI-624 for the Actiontec to supply the COAX on router. The D-Link will not work because the firmware does not support the remote access features. Contact tech support and they should send you a new router at no cost. They may want you to send back the old DI-624, or get charged $99. I just sent my old router back with their supplied UPS shipping label. When my Actiontec was installed with the TV the tech said forget that old router and left it with me. "Verizon does not use them anymore".
If you have a NIM-100 and install the Actiontec or Westell router, you will need to remove the NIM-100. Once you get the new router installed, you more then likely will need to have them remove and re add your DVR to get the features enabled. Once my DVR configuration was rejected because of router issue, they had to do that to get the process of activation started again.

  • SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service - Unable to activate worker process proxy object within the worker process

    Issue:
On a vanilla installation, the sandboxed code service (e.g. SPUCHostService.exe) is started; however, SPUCWorkerProcessProxy.exe and subsequently SPUCWorkerProcess.exe fails to start.
    Resolution/Workarounds attempted:
Attempted 2 different Load balancing settings – local and remote (i.e. affinity)
Ensured local computer policy on server for ‘RPC Endpoint Mapper Client Authentication’ and ‘Restrictions for Unauthenticated RPC clients’ is disabled.
Ensured following key in registry is set properly - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC
Attempted to bypass SharePoint’s check for certificate revocations at crl.microsoft.com
Ensured the service account is added to the respective groups (e.g. Performance Log Users, Performance Monitor Users, IIS_IUSRS, WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_WPG)
Increased limit of ‘AbnormalProcessTerminationCount’ of SPUserCodeService via Powershell

Any other insights on how I can troubleshoot the issue described?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi ,
For resolving your issue , you can do as the followings:
    1. Logged into the Web Server with the Timer Service Account.
    2. Ran the powershell command to check the SID of the account running the spucworkerprocessproxy.exe:
    $(Get-SPManagedAccount -Identity "THE SERVICE ACCOUNT").Sid.Value
    3. Checked the registry :
    HKEY_USERS\[SID OF THE SERVICE ACCOUNT]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing\State
    4. Changed the value 0x00023c00 to 0x00023e00

  • Another Remote DVR "STB Not Responding" Issue

I've had my FIOS install for a couple weeks now and 3-4 days ago tried to activate the Remote DVR feature. In all other respects my system is working fine. I can login to the FIOS TV Central page, see my STB in the listing, it shows that Remote DVR is enabled.
My STB works fine, records, has the guide, widgets, etc.
My computer network is also working fine. STB shows in my router control software, has a static IP (which does match the IP in the STB settings).
But no matter what I do, the TV Central site will always error with a "Set Top Box is not responding"
I've turned on and off the feature on the STB but that did not make any difference. I see in my router that there are 8 non-editable Port Forwarding rules set up, all identical.
    192.168.1.101   Verizon FIOS Service   Any   HDM_CR_001404_QIP-6416_000-03081-42316-021 - TCP Any -> 35001    Active
Any thoughts here? Reading through the forums it would appear this is a somewhat common and finicky issue. Lots of folks see it and it "magically" gets better, or worse, or flip flops between.

The connection between your DVR and one of Verizon's Servers sometimes 'breaks', and in my experience, cycling the router and/or the DVR won't help. The connection needs to be reset from the Verizon end. If you call or use chat to the service people, they can usually fix it while you are online with them.
It doesn't involves wiping out anything on your DVR.
I went through this a couple weeks ago. Everything except worked, except for online, it always says the unit was not responding. I think I waited about a week before I finally ask Verizon to fix it.

  • Home Media (MR) Feature No Longer Required for Remote DVR Support

I just found out that, effective today (or maybe yesterday) you can now activate Remove DVR programming capability through the FiOS TV Central website without have the multi-room feature. I do not have the multi-room support on my DVR and just logged into TV Central, sure enough it offered me the option to set up remote support, which will take 24-48 hours to be actived. I of course accepted, have received the confirmation email, now waiting for the 24-48 hour time to expire so I can use it.
    Thanks Verizon!

I can't get into my email at work though but I am sure I can access this feature. I'm having trouble finding it on the my account page. What am I missing?
I log in through My Verizon: http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/Default.aspx
When I click on My Set Top Boxes and then click on the DVR icon I now see the status of the DVR plus I can click on the bullet below to see the current recordings, etc.
And now, I just found a new enhancement, at least for me: I can now go in and rename my boxes. Some people had had that capability before, I have never had it, but now I do.
One more time, good job Verizon! (and I am sure some people will  say, "about time!")

  • Web Remote DVR with two set-top boxes

I'd like to access one or both of the two DVRs I have from the web so I can setup recordings when I am not at home.   When I login to FIOS TV Central it recognizes my two QIP6416 HD DVRs.  However, If I go to TV listings I do not get any option to record.     I think it is because I have two DVR boxes and it does not know how to handle more than one.
If at the TV remote control I do a MENU button > Settings on the TV I see "FIOS TV Remote DVR" as an option on one of the DVR's but I do not see that option on the other DVR which makes me wonder if they should both have the option.   Maybe if they both don't have the option then it is not activated.
Also, if at the TV remote control I do a MENU button > Settings > FIOS TV Remote DVR > Web Access, press OK to enter Parental Control PIN.... it says "Status:  Not Activated.   To access the web site, go to http://www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral/   LoginID: <my login id> (verizon.net)    Confirmation Code: <9999999999>"   I can't figure out how to use that confirmation code for web access.  Maybe that could activate it.   Don't see anything on fios tv central that asks for it.
Any help on these issues would be much appreciated.     I've been through verizon tech support three times now and haven't gotten a solution.   They have remoted into my laptop to see what I see and do not have a solution.   They are escalating it at this point.

You're going to need to describe what cables you have where a bit more clearly ...
    - Do you have a cable on the porch?  If so, where does the other end of it go?  Is it presently connected to anything?
    - The connection to the TV in the bedroom, where does the other end of that cable go?  Is it presently connected to anything?
    - There should be a box installed somewere on your house called an ONT (it's where the fiber terminates from Verizon and is converted into the cable and phone line).    The cable that comes out of that box (the coax, not the fiber), where does that run to?  Is it presently connected to anything?

  • Remote DVR Hates Me - Continues To Reject Valid Username And Password

    Hi all,
I mistakenly posted this message in the programming forum by mistake, so I'm moving it here now (sorry about that):
For the past few days, I've been unable to login to the Verizon remote DVR from both my iPhone and the web. It had been working fine for months, then all of a sudden, when I try to login, I get the dreaded 'login failed. please try again."
My Username and Password still work fine for Verizon Central, but for some reason the remote DVR login page won't recognize them. I tried re-registering my username and password, but that didn't work. I don't have any periods (or other weird characters) in my username. And as I mentioned, it had been working fine for months and months. Very frustrating.
I called tech support. They couldn't help (seemed baffled and ill equipped to solve this type of problem).  The rep told me that Verizon was having some trouble with remote DVR (yet he had NO information about what the problem was or if there was a fix in the works). Is this true, Verizon? Is there an internal issue? He said he was going to connect me to someone who could tell me more. I said great. Then he connects me and I get a recording that says, "you've reached a non-working number in the Verizon system ..." NICE!
Is anyone else out here having trouble logging in to their remote DVR?
One thing I noticed, the login page looks different. There used to be  2 radio buttons: one for ".com" and one for ".net." I don't see those any more. I wonder if that's part of the problem.
I appreciate any help. Thanks everyone. And again, sorry for the double post.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
TROYH72: Yes, I'm painfully aware that the "http://m.verizon.com/tv" url is for mobile devices. It used to work fine on my iphone, but it no longer does. It constantly rejects my username and password (which are both valid). FYI, that same url used to work from my computer as well.
PJL: Thanks for your suggestion. I tried deleting the cookies and clearing the browser cache. No luck. I really think this is a problem on Verizon's end for a couple of reasons:
    1. The login page looks different to me now. As I mentioned, there used to be radio buttons for .com and .net. Those are gone.
    2. I have the same problem logging on from my computer as I do from the iphone. Seems odd.
    3. I can log in to "http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/," and some other Verizon urls, but I can't access my DVR once I'm logged in. The only way I can access my DVR remotely is to log in through "verizon.com"  and do it the roundabout way. But as I mentioned in a previous post, that's really cumbersome from a mobile device.
    4. Maybe most importantly, the remote DVR used to work perfectly! And now it doesn't work at all on my iphone ("Login failed. Please try again.") And it's wonky from the web. And I haven't changed anything on my end.
Maybe it's a Mac thing. I'm running Macs as well as an iphone. I know that sometimes, Verizon and Macs don't play nicely together. I'm at a loss. And it doesn't look my Ticket is making any headway.

  • 8iR3; EJB lookup; "Unable to Activate" error

    Hi,
I have a session EJB which deploys and runs when I don't include the interface "EJBBusiness" in the Remote interface.
    However, when I do I get :
"Unable to activate : The class has dependencies which cannot be resolved: oracle.aurora.ejb.gen.plannergy_library_SQLHelper.EjbHome_SQLHelperHome in <SYS>"
(as well as a stack dump which I haven't included).
I can see this class when I view the SYS schema's Java Sources in DBA Studio. I also have an Entity EJB which includes the interface "EJBBusiness" in the Remote interface, and it run's fine.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Jono

I think it is due to the fact that I am writing a 'business interface' for my EJB, then including it in my deployment package.
This technique is recommended in O'Reilly's 'Enterprise Java Beans' 2nd Edition p344 to ensure the bean interface and the bean match their signature.
I don't get the 'class bits' error when I write EJB from the wizard, but when I add a business interface it happens first deploy, and is OK for the second one.
Hope this helps anyone else who is getting this behaviour, I guess we'll have to see what happens in OC4J/Orion.

  • Remote dvr problem

I have been unable to program my DVR remotely ever since I received it.  The message keeps telling me I don't have a Verizon router.    I have seen multiple questions about this in several google searches, but I do not see that it has been resolved.  The inability to actually talk to a person who has any knowledge at Verizon is sickening.  Ready to quit the whole thing and go back to DTV + TiVo.

You will lose out of a lot of functionality by not using a Verizon router. If you are using a Verizon router and still receiving this message, please send me a private message so we can look further into it.

One of my BIGGEST complaints about ALL the remote features and CID. The router MUST have the correct port forwarding rules in the router, so the web site can find the DVR, or STBs for CID. They never get set right, always get messed up with even the simplest changes to the Verizon router. I gave up on all of it and started using my router that I like better. Even with all the correct port forwarding rules in the router, the features are hit or miss in my opinion. These rules are read only and can only be fixed by Verizon.
Contact tech support and insist that it be fixed while you are on the phone. It can be fixed, and do not take the it will need to be escalated, as an answer. Once I was told it would need to be escalated and could take a couple days. Look at your router, and if it is a REV A. Have it replaced because they are nothing but trouble. If you log into the router you should see forwarding rules for each STB or DVR.

  • Remote DVR on non-verizon router

I got mine to work!!!  Just wanted to share my success story
We have verizon fios.  We wanted to use our cisco router for vpn since this was not available on the verizon-provided fios router.
    1.  our own router was connected to the ONT (optical network terminal).  This provided DHCP service
    2.  the verizon router (Actiontec) was behind our Cisco router, in bridge mode.  We connected the COAX cable to the verizon router.  We did a patch cable between the Cisco router and the verizon router in bridge mode (note, no x-over cable necessary)
We were able to access the internet from our TV but unable to use remove DVR.
    3.  We did port forwarding.  UDP 63145 and pointed toward the IP address of the main DVR.  We unplugged the power cord (turning off was not enough) and voila!!!  We now have remote DVR functioning just fine.

Not clear by your question regarding "walk through" as I am a non-IT guy.   I only made two modifications on Verizon Actiontec: put router on bridge mode, and turn off DHCP service.  When I first started, I had a hard time navigating through the menus of the verizon router.  Then, I just simply reset and did the above two modifications-- can be found on the network connection option.  Then it worked, without the remote DVR function.  I am not sure if the Verizon service UDP 63145 port forwarding on my Cisco router to the main DVR's IP address is necessary.  However, after the port forwarding and the unplugging, it worked.

  • Unable to pair Remote with iTunes

Hi, I am unable to pair Remote app to iTunes via both Home Sharing and Add an iTunes Library (via passcode).
I am using Remote version 4.0 (748) on iOS 7.0.4 on iPhone 5s and iTunes version 11.1.3.8 on Windows 8.
Both my iPhone and my Windows computer are connected to the same home network via wifi. I have signed in to the same account (the one used to access iCloud and App Store downloads) on my iPhone's Remote app as the one I used to sign in to iTunes' Home Sharing on Windows.
I have read this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12357. I can neither find the "Remote button" on iTunes on Windows that allows me to type the 4 digit passcode, nor get the link established via signing in to home sharing. I have also taken a conscious effort to allow both inbound and outbound traffic on TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353.
I have attached some screenshots for clarity:
    Thank you.

I have the exact same problem. Have you found a solution?

I am unable to activate Genius since upgrading to Windows 7. Prior with Vista and iTunes 9 Genius worked fine. Upgrade to Win7 and I cannot activate Genius.
It goes through step 1 fine then goes into step 2. It pops up an error message after about a minute that says "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network connections are correct and your network connection is active, then try again".
Well, I have been trying again later for about a month all with the same error.
I have rebuilt the library--no luck.
I CAN access and download new content from the iTunes store. I just cannot activate genius.

I finally managed to fix this problem by removing groups of songs from my library until Genius successfully started. I started removing artists beginning with A and by the time I got down to D Genius started to work. This made me think that it was related to a specific song. However, I gradually added all of the tracks back in to my library and Genius continued to update OK!! I now have all of the same songs in the library and Genius is working fine. I have over 12000 songs in my library so it may be a bug related to the number of tracks. The downside to removing the tracks (but keeping the files) is that you lose the playcount and you have to add them to your playlists again.
    Hope this helps.
