Unable to clear cahe permanently though manually deleted cache files

I removed ccmcache manually by using shift delete as the cache size is full
Though its free, I am getting error message,
The content download
cannot be performed because there is not enough available space in cache or the
disk is full
I had used powershell script but no luck its only deleting any folders present in ccmcache.
How can we clear the cache though the files are not present in ccmcache

  • "Adobe Premiere Pro 6 Quit Unexpectedly" - after deleting Cache files.  All other Adobe programs working.

I went in and deleted Cached files after repeatedly getting the 'scratch disks are full' message.  I have done this before and have had no issues.  However, this time it comes up with a crash message whenever I open Premiere Pro 6.  All other Adobe programs are working fine.

Can I safely delete Cache files?

Yes. But why they are there to help increase the speed of your Mac
It is a common myth that cache need to be deleted
It is true that extremely rarely a cache can be corrupted and cause the need to delete cache
To do so as house cleaning is foolish

  • Manually deleted cache, all sessions are gone

Every time I try to clear the cache (cmd-shift-backspace), Firefox hangs and I have to force quit. This is a known bug (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938139). So I tried manually deleting the cache but when I started FF again, all windows were gone, and session manager could not restore the previous session. It shows up but nothing happens when I click on it. I tried restoring everything from trash, replacing current items, but this didn't work. I had months worth of open tabs and windows that would take days to restore from history. How can I recover the lost session?

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Manual delete old files before package installation?

This is more a general or best practice question.
I installed a python program (gnoduino) manually some time ago using:
    python setup.py build install
I found out that this program is available via AUR and it would be comfortable to use the AUR version.
So what should I do now. Manually delete everything that the python installer installed, with hope not to forget anything. And after that install via AUR?
Or leave it installed and start the install process via AUR and "overwrite" the old files?
In the first case: How do I delete everything?
    whereis gnoduino
    gnoduino: /usr/bin/gnoduino /usr/share/gnoduino /usr/share/man/man1/gnoduino.1
And I know that the python files reside in "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gnoduino".
Delete these files and I'm fine?

Best practice would be to rebuild that package and uninstall, or use the built but not installed copy to locate and remove the files.
Bad practice and also my method would be to install with the -f flag and overwrite it.
However this could lead to breakage and more work if it goes wrong.

  • Deleting cache files

I was reading a thread earlier that referenced another acrihived discussion http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6416285&#6416285 where troubleshooting is accomplished by deleting the cache files in ~/library/caches
and /library. However there is another cache folder in system/library. If i moved this folder into the trash while logged into my account in the gui I have a nasty feeling i would crash the mac- is this right or is it okay to delete this one as per the others?

OSX gets cranky if you delete things while it's using them. If you don't know what the cache is, you can't be sure it isn't in use.
There are utilities (I use OnyX) that will do various maintenance and cleaning for you. OnyX will close all applications while performing certain tasks, which will help protect you.
But that's no guarantee. I've never had a problem, but there are others here who say they have.
Ordinarily, your best bet is to leave them alone unless you know what they are (like a browser cache) or are having trouble with them.
To paraphrase a bad, old commercial, "It's not NICE to fool mother Mac!"

  • How do i delete completely all data that i already deleted? Because even though i deleted the files and empty the trash, my memory is still the same! please help!!

Hi all! im using the OS XV10.6 not 4 sorry. Anywayz, i tried to delete all data that i dont need to have more free space. However, after i deleted all the files that i dont need, then empty the trash cane, my free space is still the same! I did research and try the "erase for free space" But it is still the same! please help!!! Is there anyway to increase my free space?

Hello, are you using Filevault perchance?
How much free space does it report if you do a Get Info on the whole drive?
Could we be confusing Memory (RAM), with Hard Drive Free Space (Virtual Memory)?

  • Update library after manually deleting RAW files

I shoot both RAW + JPEG on my dSLR. When I tried importing to the iPhoto 9, it imported both files and shows me duplicate images. I figured out how to open the iPhoto package from Finder and delete all the RAW images.
The problem I have now is: There are still duplicate thumbnail images in iPhone.
How do I really get ride of the RAW images?
Is there a way to import just the JPEG images, or maybe just the RAW images?
    Sam

    Terence Devlin wrote:
Best course forward: Restore from back up known to be good. Failing that you can try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager. IF that fails you can recover your original files and start over from scratch with a new Library.
FYI 1: When you import a Raw to iPhoto it automatically creates a Jpeg preview - making shooting Raw plus Jpeg pointless. Further, if you're going to trash the raw, you're what's the point is shooting Raw at all?
FYI 2: The correct way to delete from iPhoto is to put the pics in the iPhoto trash and empty it.
As far as why I shoot RAW + JPEG and why I deleted the RAW files: The Mac is not now and will never be my main computer, it is something I play with and in which I port my Photo Parata software. It was not and is not my intent to archieve my images in iPhone, just to play around a bit, get a feel for how it works. I trashed the RAW files because in playing around, there was no need for the RAW images.
Q1: So the easiest thing for me to do is simply delete the library and start over. How exactly is that done? Can I simply go delete the iPhone package I opened to get at the files?
Q2: From your response, I take it there is no way for iPhone to take into account that some of us actually like to shoot RAW + JPEG, correct?

  • Can't permanently delete song file from external hard drive

    Hi Guys,
I want to be able to delete actual song files from my external hard drive as well as from my iTunes library in one easy, lazy step, via the iTunes window. I am not interested in finding and manually deleting the files through my external hard drive.
When I hit delete it only deletes the song from my iTunes library but not the actual destination music file aswell (from my external hard drive). I am aware this is because my external hard drive is not the original "Music\iTunes\iTunes Music" destination that the apple crew have designed and so I am not offered the option of sending the file to the recycle bin or "trashing it" when I hit the delete key (this permanently deletes the file).
I am also aware that I can find the music file destinations and delete them through the iTunes window by hitting "CTRL & R" or by the "show in windows explorer" command. I am not interested in these options either.
Basically, I have 20,000 songs to clean up and don't want to have to take my laptop with me to my grave...
I suspect there is some way of changing things around, possibly via some particular parameters to be set in the "Edit" > "Preferences" > "iTunes Music Folder Desintation" command area but still haven't been able to crack it.
Any help would be welcomed with open arms.
    Cheers.
    Labia.

    Camoracer,
You are right. Pardon me. The majority of the music that I was trying to delete off my external hard drive was in a separate folder (on the external hard drive), not in the directory specified in my iTunes preference settings.
    Problem solved!!!
This should also be a lesson to those who believe a one step delete function (from iTunes library and actual music file) is not possible when the music files are stored on an external hard drive (or other storage medium for that matter). I have read a host of other forums who say a one step delete function is not possible without additional software.. Perhaps these posts were from the authors of the software trying to make a $.
    Cheers.

Tell me that I am right in guessing that you don't have a backup of those files and your db is in no-archivelog mode, right!

  • Firefox won't re-install, saying that it's running. I was trying to delete the files manually.

I tried re-installing firefox and it wouln't let me, saying that i had to close it first. so i tried to manually delete the files instead of uninstalling and now nothing works.

Reboot the computer. That will close everything.

  • Getting "Unable to write cache file" message in DW CS4

I was having some issues with a Javascript message, so looking for possible solutions, I came across “Deleting a Corrupted Cache File” in the Index to Dreamweaver FAQ located on this forum. I decided to give it a shot and carefully followed the instructions on my Windows XP, deleting the suggested cache file in my Configuration folder. That didn’t help make my Javascript message go away, though I did eventually find a work-around for that issue.
However, after deleting this cache file, I began to get the following message every time I close my program or change sites in local files, “Unable to write cache file ‘C:\Documents and Settings\...” the message ends with the site name and the extension .dws.  If I go to Manage Sites and turn off the Enable Cache button for that particular site, I no longer get the message. But if I turn the Enable Cache Button back on, I get the message again. It gives this same message for all the sites.
I’m hoping others have had this issue and there is a simple fix. I can’t say for sure that deleting the cache file in the configuration folder caused this, but it was only after that I began noticing the problem, so it would make sense the two are likely related.
Also, I wonder how important the cache is. I could just turn off the Enable Cache Button for all the sites as a work-around if there's no quick fix and if it’s no big deal.

First of all, only delete cache files when DW is shutdown.
Also, there are a few different caches. That article only addresses 1 of them. Take a look at this TechNote to be able to find the Site .dws cache files:

  • I keep getting an error stating that my disk is full in syslog. The file is empty and I want to stop it from logging data. Can I just delete the file?

Can I just delete the syslog file?

    Hello,
Yes, you can delete the file. A new file in Syslog directory is started each time that LabVIEW and the Tag Engine is started. You can either manually delete old files or write a simple VI to automatically delete files that are older than a certain number of days.
As an alternative, you can save these files into another folder, just to free up syslog directory space, and still have these history files for later use.
