Unable to contact KDED
KDE is kinda bloated after upgrade to 4.6 and haven't been fixed yet.
When i tried to disable some Services through System Setting -> Services Manager
I got a message said
Unable to contact KDED.
How to fix this?
And does anyone know why kde become so slow?Kde4.5 is fine.
Try rebooting.
kded is a daemon that takes care of very small tasks like ejecting your CD tray etc. There should only be one instance of this running. I had an issue recently where kded wasn't terminated when I logged out and back in. This resulted in two daemons competing with each other (and taking 100% of a CPU core each). The solution was to reboot.
In your case, the system settings kcm is trying to talk to kded through dbus, but for some reason, it's not responding. I'm guessing this is update-related. So, a reboot should clear things up.

I would like to update to adobe reader 10.1.1 and when I attempted download/install with Internet Explorer it produced: unable to contact trackers. The it opened another web page and produced:

When I go to control panel> add remove programs: adobe reader 9.1.3 is 138 MB and when I click on remove it produces: The patch package could not be opened. Currently when I read or download PDF files they are opened properly with Adobe reader. It is the goal to eliminate the old version and install the new version.
My computer is a dell laptop inspiron 9400 with windows XP home SP3, Intel CPU 2600 @ 1.66 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 1400

I tired the download/install with another browser (Safari) and it went through initializing, downloading, and installing then Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) then Gathering required information then Time remaining 0 secs with all blue squares. Set up need to restart your system do you want to restart now? I choseno and when I viewed Adobe Reader Installer it had Adobe Reader Installation failed unknown error 96% Then I chose finish. It then produced One of the installations requires a reboot. Do you wish to perform it now. I will choose yes and have it reboot.
What happened with the attempted intall with Internet Explorer that it failed. If Adobe Reader X installs with Safari will the PDF files opened with this browser use Adobe Reader X and will the PDF files opened with Internet Explorer use Adobe Reader 9.1.3? I would like to have just one version of Adobe Reader and not take up the hard drive space.
I will reboot now and see what happens. Please comment on what to do if the installation fails for Adobe Reader X and please comment on how to uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1.3 too in addition to any other comments about the installation problem.
ThxI was able to solve this problem with the inability to uninstall adobe reader 9.1.3 and this program is now uninstalled by viewing control panel > add remove programs.
It happened by luck by using a battery of Microsoft Fix its. To tune up my computer I ran one fix it after another and then found one that Troubleshoots installation and uninstallition problems.

Weblogic 8.1 managed server unable to contact Admin server
I have a strange issue here.
I have admin server on Linux Machine A
Managed server on Linux Machine B.
When i try to start managed server on Machine B, i get the following error.
The WebLogic Server did not start up properly.
Exception raised: 'weblogic.management.configuration.ConfigurationException: [Configuration Management:150001]An error occurred while connecting to the admin server to bootstrap through URL: http://MachineA:7100/wl_management_internal2/Bootstrap, user: system

The error suggests that managed server on machine B, is unable to contact Admin server on Machine A.
But i know for sure that Admin server is running on that port 7100 for sure.
It has been for the last 3 years.
To see if Machine B and Machine A have network issues, i did telnet.
From Machine B: i typed the following
telnet MachineA 7100
Connected to MachineA.
Escape character is '^]'
The above telnet command tells us that no network issues exist.
After a few tries, the managed server contacts to admin server and comes up.
This is not a one time thing.
I saw this behavior many times.
How should i resolve this?

This domain has been running for the past 3 years.
Recently, i found something interesting in admin server logs, when i try to start the managed servers.
I realized there will be some amount of hand shake that happens during managed server startup, when it tries to communicate with admin server.
Here is the log snippet when managed server A contacts Admin server and starts up successfully.

The difference as you can see here is that managed server starts up only when Admin Server does the following
<*The bootstrap servlet has finished sending the configuration to Managed Server A*.>

Any time I try to sign in to the adobe application manager it tells me, "unable to contact adobe. Please connect to the internet and try again." How do I fix this?

You might need to check with your internet settings and disable firewall (if any).

I have been using Adobe Cloud for few months and today I wanted to download the InDesign with AAM....unfortunately it does not work!
When I open the AAM it just keeps loading for ages and then prompt for my adobe ID and password. Once entered again the same...loading for ages....and then message: Unable to contact Adobe. Please connect to the internet and try again.
If I try to use the adobe download assistant an Error 100 appears......Error communicating with Adobe.com Check your network connection, and restart Adobe download Assistant
As you do understand I have tried all suggested...and of course I am always connected to network.
I work on Mac and I havent changed or deleted anything from adobe.....
I will appreciate any advice.

Two obvious problems. 1) Can't contact OAD on usicesn2 (the machine that has the entire 3i suite), and the attempt to access DATEST. DATEST was the NT machine we previously were using before migrating to Solaris. How does it know about DATEST?
I've tried stopping, starting, deregistering, re-registering, putting in the hard ip address, and no joy.
nullHow did you have discoverer 3i working on one machine (solaris). I was under the impression that in 3i Solaris can only be used as a HTTP server and for the discoverer server you need to use an NT machine.
I am using the above setup but when I start the start_locator it says it cannot bind to the preference session. I then started the locator on the NT machine and moved the locator.ior file on the solaris box. It seemed to work then. Also using everything on one NT box seems to work.
Can you please give me an idea as how use are using solaris for your locator, preference and session component. -

I conected my iphone 3gs to Itunes It says there was an update so i agreed it also recommended I do a back up so I agreed. then half way through the process it failed and a message popped up saying unable to contact server try again later. and alls I have on the phone now is a picture indicating to plug into itunes.
Any Clues ???? as when I plug in it says I need to restore the phone and it fails again. it was working fine before I did the updateIs this phone locked to a cell carrier?

Have new imac and I get this error message: Unable to contact the FaceTime server. All mty other apple devices can connect but not my iMac.

You need to return the Device for a refund, as you will not be able to re-activate it.
