Unable to install CS4 on a 2nd computer.

Seeking help installing CS4 on a 2nd computer. I have CS4 on my desktop iMac (using OSX 10.7.5) and since I recently bought a MacBook Pro (using 10.8.3), I wanted to install it on there as well. The only problem is that the MacBook Pro does not have a CD player. To get around that, I put the CD contents on a USB Key. I attempted to load CS4 on the MacBook Pro using the USB Key, but right off the bat it gave me an error when I double-clicked the SETUP folder: "SETUP ERROR - Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance." I tried this several times but got the same message. I called Adobe however they were unable to help since it is an old version - they suggested I post the question here and see if someone can help. The Adobe Rep did say that perhaps the Setup file was corrupted, but did not offer any further information beyond that.

I did just what you recommended and it worked perfectly!
For anyone else reading this with the same problem, here is how I did it:
I copied the entire Photoshop CS4 to a USB Key
plugged that in to my MacBook Pro
made a New Folder on the Desktop of the MacBook
copied all the items from the USB Key to the New Folder
dropped the New Folder into the Macintosh HD on the MacBook
then went to the Photoshop CS4 folder on the Macintosh HD
double-clicked on the SETUP folder, and voila - it worked!
Once I entered the serial number, the program downloaded and the only hitches were that it did not have the latest Adobe AIR version, so I had to go to the Adobe site and download a new version of that at www.adobe.com/go/getair
I am so thankful - Adobe would not work with me since I had the older version of CS4, so I was faced with buying a new version of Photoshop, not being able to use it on my laptop, and possibly buying Aperture instead - none of which I really wanted to do. I am trying to install CS4 onto a new imac I recently purchased. When I open the program it asks for the serial number for the CS4 product which I enter and get the green check mark. It then asks for an "Upgrade Check" this requires me to enter the product and serial number for which my version of CS4 was an upgraded version. I do not have the packaging or anything for the CS2 software this was an upgrade from, however it is still installed on my old computer. Is there anyway for me to be able to verify the serial number to install CS4 on my new computer. I have attached a screen shot of the second prompt screen. Please HELP!!

Do you still have the downloaded installer on your original computer? If so, transfer it from there.
If not, try downloading the installer from http://technolux.blogspot.jp/2011/02/adobe-direct-download-links-less-akamai.html
You must follow the download instructions some two pages down from the top; otherwise you won't be able to get your download. The download links start some further two pages down.

Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the download links will not work.
When you launch the trial version to install it, enter your serial number when prompted to convert it to a licensed version.

Unable to install CS6 to a second computer

I'm trying to install my purchased Photoshop CS6 extended to a 2nd computer. When entering the provided serial number, I get the message "the serial number is valid, but a qualifying product can't be found in this computer". I previously uninstalled the software from another 2nd computer.

Did you de-activate it before you un-installed it? If not, as far as Adobe are concerned the software is still on that computer.
Unless you tell them, Adobe have no way of knowing that you un-install, the check when you install is automatic.
If you did not de-activate, then you will have to install a system image with Photoshop still present (if you have one) or re-install Photoshop to where it was, and then de-activate before removing it.
You will probably also need to remove it from the new install before you start, and even then you may have to phone Adobe to sort out the activation mess.

Installing CS4 on a third computer

We recently took 2 computers that had CS4 running on them off line because MicroSoft no longer supports the XP op sys that they were using. We have a laptop with CS4 loaded but deactivated and a new Dell desk top newly loaded with CS4 with no problems. I am trying to load CS4 onto my wife's laptop as the third computer but it will not load. Help!

When I try to run the CD after clicking on "Install CS4" the machine starts to run and then just stops. No error messages or anything.

It is an ongoing issue with installing iTunes 7 on Windows.
What often solve the problem is running installer as Administrator
and the opening iTunes as Administrator
Right click on the installer and "Run As Administrator"
Also as b noir mentioned - can you post the error message?

I have recieved an answer regarding my inability to install my software on my new computer, but it does not address the problem that there is no record of my previous purchase. I'm sure this is because it was purchased in 2009 and whatever e mail was sent to me with the serial number is now lost to history. Any suggestions out there?

I DID register my CS4 Suite in 2009. I am certain of that. I just don't have the e mail that was sent to me and I used a different email address at that time than I am using right now. What are my options?

Unable to install iTunes on Windows 8 computer?

I recently bought a new Windows 8 computer (ASUS VivoTab TF810C) and am trying to install iTunes in order to sync/update/backup my iPhone 4S. I downloaded the latest version of the installer a moment ago but the file will not open. I just get the following error message:
"This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with software publisher."
I have tried searching this site but according to the download page iTunes 11 should be compatible with Windows 8. Other than that I can't find any official information from Apple (which is very annoying!). I have also tried searching the discussions here but many of the answers are out of date (pre release of iTunes 11) and others are just not helpful. Several Google searches haven't turned up any answers either. Am I missing something?

What is the difference between the different versions?
How do I find out which version I downloaded?
Where can I get different versions of the installer?
I just pressed the download button. My understanding was that this was the right version.
None of this is explained on the dowload page.

Trouble installing photoshop elements on 2nd computer - says already on 2 computers

I had elements on 2 laptops but I had to send one of my computers back to HP to have keyboard replaced. While we were trying to pinpoint the problem we decided to set computer to factory settings, so all my programs were taken off - so I thought.
I could not be without my main computer for 2 weeks so I purchased a new one and installed elements on it - it was working fine for about 1 month and then it said that this program was already installed on 2 computers. I tried to uninstall it and then reinstall, but it wouldn't let me. Does the program think it is still on the computer I had to have repaired?

If you did not deactivate it before resetting to factory settings, yes it does.

Unable to Install 4.2 on new computer

I recently had my Windows receive the blue screen of death and had to reinstall a new copy of Windows 7. When I attempt to install the iPhone 4.2.1 software on my iPhone 3GS after it transfers purchases I get an error message that “iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone.” When I click Edit -> Preferences to go into Devices and delete it my list of backups is empty, which makes sense as it is a new computer. When I attempt to create a backup of my iPhone for my new computer I again get the corrupt or not compatible message, even though there is nothing I can do to delete it.
I am running iPhone software 4.1 looking to upgrade to 4.2, as well as iTunes version 10.1.2 on Windows 7.

Install the latest version of iTunes and make sure you "authorize" the new computer in iTunes. Also, if you want to upgrade the phone, try installing the firmware manually. You can download the firmware here,

Hold your Option key (not sure what it is on PC...might be ALT) down when clicking in Restore in iTunes and select the file you downloaded.

i am having the exact same problem. i downloaded the photoshop elements 8 for mac trial onto my macbook yesterday and when i tryed to install it, it wouldnt work so i ran the Adobe supprot adviser and got the same message as you.
since there dont seem to be any other reports of this exact same message in the past, perhapse there is now something wrong with the free trial file, and we will have to re try again in the future. :S

Installing CS4 onto a new computer.

I need help to reinstall CS4 onto my laptop. The hardrive burnt out and as a result everything, photoshop included, was lost completely. A new hardrive and windows 7 have been installed but I can't access my software. I have serial numbers for my adobe products but no easy way to download them again. Help please.
