  • Lync Hybrid : Unable to write to active directory due to lack of permission

    Hello everyone,
I need a little help to troubleshoot a problem I have when moving a user to Lync Online.
My client has a Dirsync and Adfs working perfectly with o365.
My problem is that when I try to move a user to Lync Online I have this error :
    Move-CsUser -Identity "Username" -Target sipfed.online.lync.com -credential $cred -hostedmigrationOverrideUrl "https://admin0e.online.lync.com/hostedmigration/hostedmigrationservice.svc"
"Move-CsUser : Unable to write to Active Directory due to lack of permissions"
Like the error said, it's a lack of permission but what kind of permission do I need to make this work ? I've tried to googleit/technetit but no helpful topic found...
Thanks in advance for your help and answers.

    Hi,
Did you solve the issue by adding the account to RTCUniversalUserAdmins group?
To move an on-premises user to your Lync Online tenant, run the following cmdlets in the Lync Server Management Shell, using the administrator credentials for your Microsoft Office 365 tenant. Replace "[email protected]" with the information for the user
    that you want to move.
You can try to move the user from Lync Server on premises to Lync online with the help of the link below “Move users to Lync Online”:

    Hi graceandgirl,
Welcome to the forums... The thing that I would like to bring to your attention is that the safari browser in the iPod is not near the equivilance of a regular computer.
As it can't do flash or some advanced scripts, especially if requried by a the client (in this case your touch) to complete.
Most of the main stream websites I've had no issues with, but again you will run into some issues. And if there are issues, only that website developer can fix them... There's nothing that you can do from your end, you just have to note the websites with this restriction.

I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. This so annoying, I just switched to Firefox. I don't like Firefox nearly as much as I like Safari. What is happening? How do I fix the problem?
    Thank you.

Might be a corrupted database ...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Unable to log in to iTunes

I have been using the same username for my iTunes for years.  I use it on iCloud, the App Store...everything.  About a year ago, I completed an iTunes update on my Toshiba Satellite laptop and was unable to listen to any music on my iTunes after that.  Nothing would play.  I followed some "advice" on the Apple Support Communities since it was clearly an issue several people had.  The advice had quite a lengthy process which included eventually removing iTunes and reinstalling it.  I did the process step by step (which supposedly worked for others), and I was never able to log in to iTunes again.  My iPhone music still worked since I hadn't logged out of iTunes, as did my iPod (Nano, Classic, and my new Nano) since you don't log out of those.  I have since logged out of iTunes on my iPhone and I was never able to log back in and it shows that I have no music because it claims I do not have an account (though I can log in to the iCloud or App Store with my account).
I also have a MacBook Air and an iPad Mini.  I never used my iTunes on the MacBook Air, so I have tried logging in there, and have also tried "approving" this computer for iTunes use but still...I can log into iCloud, the App Store, and have verified my account on the Apple support page (http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/) but I still get the following error:
I still am logged in to my iTunes on my iPad though I know if I log out, I will never be able to log in again.  It does not have all of my music on it...just some of it.  My Classic has all of my music, and my old Nano has since died.  I never got to load anything onto my new Nano.  So, I opened up a ticket with Apple and of course there was the big runaround saying I had to pay for service on my MacBook Air since it's a problem with my MacBook Air, but after much arguing, I got it through their head that it's a problem with my Toshiba, Macbook Air, iPhone, and will be with my iPad as well if I logged out of iTunes.  They finally opened a ticket and had me to talk to several people.  The last person to work on it at Apple stated she was sending it to an engineer, because even she tried logging in with the same username and password and was unable to, though she was able to log into my iCloud.  She "remoted" in to my MacBook, and could not find anything wrong either.  The last I heard from them was in June 2014 where they told me they were moving this to an engineer (after 3-hours of being on the line with them) and stated that I would receive a call back, which of course never happened.  I have called that person back several times since she had given me her extension, and she does not return my calls.  In the meantime, I have tried several times to just change my password on the account, and it changes my password on every account but I still am unable to log in to my iTunes.
Here are the notes I took while on the phone with them:
    June 2014:
    Case ID: 619383300
xxx (can't remember his name...maybe Scott???  Transferred to Tim)
Tim (iTunes. Can't see an iTunes problem. Believes this is a computer problem)
Eric (did the sharing session. He's with "mac problems".  Immediately said I would have to get a warranty for my computer in order to receive support. I refused since I was not going to warranty my iPhone, Macbook Air, Toshiba PC, and iPad just because of an iTunes problem).  He later stated this is a problem with my internet provider, because of the blocks i have set up for my children.  I do not have blocks set up, never have, and it can't be an ISP problem because it would be an ISP problem with my UK internet, US internet, sisters, brothers, and parents ISP's as well since I have used their internet and still cannot access iTunes. Sending back to iTunes)
Tay (iTunes Senior advisor. Sharing session. Checked Apple ID while remoted in to my computer.  Cannot see any problems.  Sending up to Engineer. Sending me a case number and personal contact number.)  I never heard back, though I was told by Tay that an engineer would contact me regarding this issue.
iTunes started a new case ID: 669806831 dated Sept 27, 2014
28 Sept: Received an email from Anand at Apple iTunes support which told me to contact Apple Support at http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 to get a phone number to call in and pay for support on my device, though it's not a device issue which has already been acknowledged previously.  iTunes support will not help me so I contacted Apple support.  They say this is an iTunes problem, not an Apple problem.  iTunes says this is an Apple problem, not an iTunes problem.
29 Sept: Left a message with Tay who was the last one handling the original case.
October: Left another message with Tay who never called me back in September, or June.  I have left my phone number and original case number but she continues ignoring my calls.
Does anyone have any advice on this?  I'm tired of sitting in a silent house because I have no music because the customer service at Apple is terrible and just blew me off.
So far this is an issue with my Apple ID just not being able to log into iTunes on ANY computer...whether it's a Windows 7 based PC or an Apple product.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on every product except the iPad (I don't use my iPhone anymore since it's old and I have a new phone).

I guess Apple decided to hiccup and I was able to log in.  This was not the first time I tried this procedure, but this is how it happened.  I was not able to log in after the export from iBooks Author.  I closed iTunes Producer and then opened it through Launchpad.  I logged in with the account that is set up for the book, selected open package, and, I'll be danged if it didn't open this time.  Unbelievable...  I don't think it is what I did.  I think Apple hiccuped or cleared her throat.

  • unable to log in at this time because an error has occured

Colleague came in over weekend to use a specific PowerMac and large screen rather than her usual MacBook Pro.
She was unable to login as 'herself' as she repeatedly got the message that she was <<unable to log in at this time because an error has occured>>.
No 'headshaking' as if she had given the wrong password, but she couldn't log in or accesss our sharepoints.
She tried another desktop Mac (a  macmini) and got same result...
She could (and today still can)  happily log in to the server via her laptop...
    What gives?

We just had a similar issue here.
On the MacBook Pro, we needed a new user to log in. Existing MBP users were fine, new users no chance, although administrator accounts were OK. OSX 10.7.4, same issue with 10.7.5.
Clues were found elsewhere on this site (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4140320?start=0&tstart=0), but what we did to fix it was this:-
Ensure the Mac will create a local folder for new user accounts (top tick-box)
In AD, turn off the Z: drive mapping to the home folder (or whatever drive you use) for that particular user
On the Mac, log in and let it create the local home folder
In AD, turn the drive mapping back on and respecify the home folder path
The account should now continue to work as it's already created the local home folder.
Admin accounts worked because we don't map the home folder for those. Originally we were mapping using a logon script, which is why we didn't have an issue when setting up the other users initially. What probably doesn't help is that we use DFS, and the Macs don't like talking to DFS (we have to map to the \\servername\share instead of \\domainname\dfs-share for those).
Hope this helps. Many thanks to user "Think Touch" for providing the clues.

  • I am unable to log in and do not get an error message

I have not been able to log in to install flash player to my MacBookPro.    I have been on chat and the advisor recommend I go through this forum.
My login ID [email removed - just don't want you to get a mountain of spam]
While I am able to login to the adobe site, I am unable to log in after downloading the installation file  when I get to the directions box that says"Install Adobe Flash Player is an application downloaded from the Internet.  Are you sure you want to open it? I click OPEN and then get a box which says "INSTALL ADOBE FLASH PLAYER wants to make changes.  Type your password to allow this"  It is at this point that the box jiggles after I enter my username which is my email address and my password and I am unable to proceed with the instalation.
I am trying to set up my new MACBOOK PRO, but this happens on both my old macbook pro and the new one.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
If you're still stumped, you may need to reset the password on your Mac:

  • [Resolved]Outlook 2013 with Office 365: Unable to log in to: SharePoint. Click here to log in.

This is posted so that it may be of assistance to others.
I am using Outlook 2013 (Office 2013 Pro Plus) with Office 365 (E3 Subscription). Active Directory is federated with Office 365. I recently had to change my AD account password.
On my home computer, that is not a domain member and is running Windows 8.1 with my personal Microsoft account, Outlook was not authenticating to SharePoint Online. In the message/event windows the error "Unable to log in to: SharePoint. Click
here to log in." is displayed. When I click the error it flashes and does nothing else. Outlook was showing SEND/RECEIVE errors for all of my SharePoint Online calendars and lists:
Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80070005): 'You do not have permission to view this SharePoint List (IT Shared Calendar). Contact the SharePoint site administrator. HTTP 403.'
I could send and receive e-mail. I deleted one of the calendars and then added it back from the SharePoint site ribbon- no change. I was always able to access the calendars and lists using IE.
I checked Windows Credential Manager. I deleted my Outlook credential (MS.Outlook.15) which prompted me to enter my Exchange Online credentials but did not prompt for SharePoint Online. I then deleted my Office credential (MicrosoftOffice15_Data:orgid) with
    no change.
It was not until I switched Office over to use my organizational (Federated AD) account that the problem was resolved.
It appears Outlook (15.0.4615.1000) now gets confused between accounts- because previously I had no issues when changing my password as Outlook would always prompt for it. I noticed this behavior had changed on my office computer when Outlook did not give
me the usual three prompts for password after changing it.

  • You are unable to log in to the File Vault user account "myaccount "...

I know there are various posts already out there on remedies for recovering your data stored on a FileVault account when you receive the following message at the login screen; *"You are unable to log in to the File Vault user account "myaccount " at this time"*, but this genuinely worked for me despite AppleCare providing absolutely no assistance whatsoever. In fact, if I had followed their advise I'd be inconsolable right now having wiped my MacBook Pro and contemplating the prospect of rewriting my two essays due in 3 days time!
I, in a moment of shear stupidity, decided to move the sparsebundle file in my one and only account to trash. Thinking nothing of my foolish actions I shut down for the evening without a care in the world. The next day I started up my computer as usual, and as usual I was prompted at the login screen for my password. I entered the correct password, but was alarmed to see the message above flash before my eyes. Without boring you all with what I did over the weekend waiting for AppleCare to open again on Monday morning. Anyway, this post is specifically for people who have put the sparsebundle of their FileVault-enabled account in the trash (NOT anything else!) without emptying it, of course! The other prerequisite is that you must REMEMBER YOUR FILEVAULT ACCOUNT PASSWORD!
    1. Firstly, you must insert *Disc 1 of the Mac OS X Install* discs.
    2. Restart your computer holding down the letter S (make sure you are holding this down BEFORE the start up noise sounds)
    3. Select the appropriate language and continue to the next screen (DO NOT go past the next screen, the WELCOME screen)
    4. At the grey bar at the top, under Utilities, select *Reset Password*
    5. Select the Administrator/Root account and proceed to change the password of this account to test
    6. Confirm the password by reentering it and click Save
    7. Restart your computer and at the login screen you should now be able to select an account named Other
    8. The username for this account is root and the password is test (the password you entered earlier)
    9. Using Finder, locate the Terminal utility, which can be found in *Applications --> Utilities*
    10. Enter the following, ignoring the bold of course (pay attention to lower cases AND spaces!): *defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE*
    11. Hit Enter
    12. On the next line, enter: *killall Finder*
    13. Hit Enter again
    14. Type: exit on the next line and close Terminal
    15. This has enabled the hidden files on your computer to be visible
    16. You then need to locate the sparsebundle file in the trash of your usual account folder (it could be 501, so search for that too) whilst logged in to the administrator account
    17. Once you have found it, click *Go to Folder* under Go in the grey bar and type /Users/
    18. Create a *new folder* at this location with a new username
    19. Move the sparsebundle from its present location to the folder you have just created
    20. Click Get Info on the new folder, and at the very bottom click *Apply to enclosed items*
    21. In *System Preferences --> Accounts*, create a new user with EXACTLY the same name as the folder you created (eg. Folder name = burtreynolds, new user = burtreynolds)
    22. A window should appear if you have done the above correctly stating *A folder in Users folder already has same name, would you like to use it?*
    22. Click OK
    23. Click *Show All* at the top of the Accounts window
    24. Restart your system and log in to the new account you have created
    25. The sparsebundle should now be visible
    26. Double-click on the sparsebundle, it will prompt you to enter a password
    27. Enter the password of your former account (if you have genuinely forgotten this password, I honestly can't help any further at this point)
    28. If the password is correct, the sparsebundle will automatically mount and you will have access to all the files
    29. NEVER EVER USE FILEVAULT AGAIN AND BACK UP ALL DATA YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE!!!
The above worked for me, and to say I'm mildly annoyed with AppleCare is, well, putting it mildly really!

Need to know  how can i troubleshoot this further?
    Regards
    Mahesh

I would do the troubleshooting in  following sequence.
    1. Put a wired PC on to the vlan allocated for WLAN1
    2. Check whether wired PC gets an IP & can browse internet
    3. If that works, then we know no issue of DHCP & not issue with L3/NAT routing to access internet
    4. If step2, does not work then your issue is not within wireless, you have to change the focus of your troubleshoot.
    5. If step2 works, then test a wireless client with OPEN Authentication (No ACS involvment). If this does not work, then it means wireless client does not get proper IP connectivity. Check dynamic interface configuration for this WLAN & make sure gateway addresses correctly configured. Also VLANs are trunk across to WLC from switch.
    6. If step5 works, then try your client with ACS & see the client get successfully authenticated. If not it may be WLC to ACS issue. Troubleshoot that in that case.
Do some troubleshooting like this & let us know the outcome. I am sure you will abe to find out the issue easily in this way.

    Hi
I've just installed for the third time BOE Premium Server XIR3

    Tomcat 5.5
I've installed from scratch my server and I could not connect to any application
CCM : the SIA is up and Running, but I could not manage server to see what is launch on the server
    > Error : Unable to log on : Could not connect to server SERVER_NAME:6400. Please check that the server name is correct, and that the server is running
Tomcat Configuration: Can't connect to that services too

(Here I translated the error message because I've got the message in french...)
Concerning the MySQL database, it's seems to be correctly installed as I can access the database via MySQL Admin tool.
I've seen lots of similar issue but I never found any resolution or workaround.
So If you have any ideas to help me it would be great as I must make a demo on customer site on monday morning :o(((
    Many Thanks

  • Safari for Windows will not log into IIS sites with Windows Authentication

Safari for Windows will not log into IIS sites with Windows Authentication enabled. The IIS log has thousands of login attempts from Safari that result in 401 errors.
I disable Windows Authentication on IIS and it works fine. The problem with that is that my Windows clients stop working properly with seemless logins when I disable this.
The expected behavior is that Safari will work with basic authentication when NTLM does not work. That would result in a password prompt followed by a successful login instead of Safari stopping at "Loading" while hammering the IIS logs.
It does this on all machines that I have tried.
Any ideas or is this a bug?

I noticed that as well. I have to wonder if it's due to not making note of the the different end of line characters between Mac OS X and Windows in code.

  • Unable to log into itunes & app store

I am unable to log into itunes & app store from my iphone5s OS 7.1.1. The apple ID works on the apple site and from my apple tv and ipad etc. I have rebooted the iphone, deleted icloud and logged back in successfully. I can use find my iphone and see my other devices. When I go to settings > iTunes & App Store > enter the apple ID and password and press sign in > it shows a activity circle at the top by the wifi indicator but then nothing else happens. Settings > iTunes & App Store still has my username and password. I can press sign in again but nothing happens.
I've tried to go into iTunes Store and look at my previous purchased movies but it keeps prompting me to sign in..  I use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass > and it just loops the same process over and over..   use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass > use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass >  etc..
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello Anand,
To troubleshoot your problem, follow the steps below:
    1. Delete the file -  Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    2. Restart OS X
    3. Try logging into Mac App Store again.
    All the best !

You may have been infected by malware that you downloaded and installed.  The download was probably called "FlashPlayer.pkg".  If you still have it please don't trash it quite yet.  For the benefit of others in this community can you please upload it to http://www.virustotal.com.  Once you have done that copy the ID and report it back here along with the exact name of the file that you uploaded.
If the results do not show anything in the status column next to ClamAV can you also upload it to http://cgi.clamav.net/sendvirus.cgi and in the description box include the keyword "macos".  If you know the name of the site where you downloaded it from, that would also be useful.  Then you should trash it so you won't be tempted to run it again.
A description of this malware along with instructions on fixing it can be found here: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojan_bash_qhost_wb.shtml
Thanks in advance and let us know how it goes.
