Unable to make sound from Keyboard come through monitors.

Basically I have purchased the M-Audio Oxygen 49 Keyboard and I have it plugged in through my USB connection on my Macbook where the input connection is being picked up fine through Logic Pro. However, I want to direct the output sound to go through my Firewire interface to a pair of monitors, but instead the sound just comes out through my Laptop Speakers.
CAN ANYONE HELP?!!
I have set the input - under 'System Preferences' - to come from the 'Line In' port, and the Output to go through my interface.
Is there an option box in Logic that I need to access to fix it or can it not be done?
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Just choose your Audio Interface in Logic->preferences->Audio->devices and you will hear sound.
Your USB-Midi keyboard is not producing any sound, it just generates Midi events - all the Audio is produced inside Logic so fiddling around with your System prefs will not do you any good.
So select a Software Instrument, play your keyboard and you'll be fine. The getting started guide might give you a further insight into the basics of Logic.

  • Is there a way to record sounds from keyboard as they are?

So I have a musical keyboard that I've attached to my macbook to record in Garageband. I have a ton of sounds on my keyboard from percussion, brass, piano, etc.
When I record, for example, a trumpet sound from my keyboard into Garageband, Garageband just records the notes using its one version of trumpet or piano or whatever.
How do I get GarageBand to just record the sound as is?
I tried the "real instrument" track option but that ends up record all sound from the microphone on the MacBook and not recording the sound through the MIDI connection.

I think you'll need to email the iTunes team on this one:

  • Pix emailed from iPhone come through on their sides

When I select/email pix from my iPhone, all the "portrait" pictures come through in the recipients' email in "landscape" (on their sides!) mode and visa versa.... When I look at the "sent" pictures on my iPhone, they are oriented correctly... but if I actually email to myself I can see this strange anomaly.... How can I fix this?
    Thanks!

The iPhone stores correct picture orientation in the EXIF data stored with each picture. Unfortunately, many programs used to view the pictures when sent by email can't read the data correctly to honor the EXIF rotation data, thus displaying the pictures incorrectly. The real fix is for the software developers of the programs involved to update their programs.

  • HT1551 i just hooked up apple tv and the sound does not come through the samsung sound bar but through the tv sound which is subpar

i just hooked up appletv and the sound comes through the tv and not the samsung sound bar

Hey there. Not sure if this'll fix your whole problem (ie, the bit about connecting your Yamaha amp and your optical connector) but I think I had the same problem with not getting sound out of the TV. And with a Sony TV about 5 years old too.
The fix was to go to Settings, then Audio & Video, and then turn Dolby Digital to 'Off'.
In theory you should always get sound out of the TV, but these early HDMI Sony TVs have a problem that cuts off Apple TV sound if it's being output to the Optical Dolby Digital port too.
It's a bit of a pain but if you need the sound out of the TV just turn the Dolby Digital on the Apple TV to off, and when you do need it turn it to on - when you get your optical connection to your Yamaha amp going.
    Hope this helps!

  • Unable to delete songs from IPOD except through Windows Explorer

    hello,
I have a first gen 1 gb Ipod Nano ver Ver 1.3.1 modem #
    ma352ll.
About a week ago i tried to free up some space on my ipod by removing some songs. Since I began using my ipod I have just felt more comfortable manually managing my songs. So what i would normally do is simply delete the song from the music folder on my ipod and it is usually gone. (I know that simply deleting from a playlist does not delete from ipod). When I tried deleting some songs I found that the available space on my ipod did not change and obviously could nto add any more songs. When I went into windows explorer, in the music folder for my ipod, I i found the songs I wanted to delete (they were large files because they were podcasts). When I deleted the file from windows explorer the space was freed up on my ipod.
I updated itunes and restored my ipod. I am not using itunes 7. Today I tried adding 7 podcasts to my ipod manually thru itunes and only 5 show up in my music folder, however, i can find all 7 in windows explorer AND all 7 in the playlists I added them to. They play perfectly fine when I play them, but obviously if I tried to delete the 2 suspect files from my playlist they would still be hidden somewhere on my ipod and I can only delete them through windows explorer.
I am not sure what to do at this point, is there anybody who can shed some light on what I am doing wrong or if this is a known issue with itunes and and 1st gen nanos. It's getting annoying to have to play each file in winamp from windows explorer to find the song titles I want to delete and keep the rest. The folders show up as F00, F001, etc... and the songs show up as QVRD.mp3. I havew to play the file QVRD.mp3 throguh winamp so the name of the song comes up so I know if that is the hidden file or one of the others thats how up in itunes that I want to keep. Any ideas out there?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Playing sound from Mac Mini through Sony TV

    Hi all,
I want to use my 2005 mac mini as a system to just play movies throught my Sony Bravia TV.
The images/ video plays fine but no matter what I do there is no sound. I have tried 2 phono cables from the mac's headphone jack connected to the right ports on the TV but I still can't get sound. I have checked that the volume is up on the mac and TV.
I can't change the setting on the Mac - when I go to the sound menu it automatically shows in the output tab Name = headphones, Type = built-in speakers. There are no other options and I can't change it. the only thing the Apple store could advise me to do was to click on the sound symbol on the desktop while holding down the Option key but I don't get the options that are supposed to come up, maybe because my mini is too old. I have tried all the sound settings available on the TV but still no sound.
Is there anything I can do to get it working? Any help would be great.

Not sure exactlly which model mini you have? > How to identify Mac mini models
But audio is not supported out of the DVI or Mini DVI ports.
Unless you have a newer model with an HDMI port you will have to use a 3.5mm audio cable from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV.
Depending on the TVs audio input (3.5mm or RCA) you will need a long enough cable to reach the TV using either:
    a > Amazon.com: 3.5mm Stereo Male To Male Cable 12 ft.: Electronics
or > Amazon.com: RiteAV - 3.5mm to RCA Stereo Female Cable - 6 inch: Electronics and RCA cables.

  • Novice can't get sound from keyboard back to G5

Hi – absolute novice here. Sorry to interrupt, but I need some assistance (it’s driving me crazy..) I learned a little on an old PC with an old Logic installed. Liked it so much I decided to commit myself.
Recently bought a new G5 and Logic Pro 7. Managed to transfer my old Logic files,
But I don’t know much about the technical stuff..
I have an old keyboard (Roland XP-10) connected to the G5 via an Edirol UM-2 MIDI interface (via those 5 pin plugs). I assume it’s working ok because it shows up in the MIDI Devices pane of the Audio MIDI Setup Window..
I’m almost there; when I play back the old songs, I can hear the WAV files-they play back fine, and I know my MIDI files are also fine, I can hear them playback in sync and all…
However… I can’t hear them out of the computer, I can only hear them through headphones plugged into the keyboard.
(On my old PC I had to connect the keyboard to the soundcard with a stereo line-out from the keyboard to the soundcard (as well as MIDI cables). Is this also the case with the G5? I have tried taking a stereo line-out of the keyboard into the G5 but am unsure if any settings need to be changed to receive the signal back into the G5.)
Please help. I have lots of nice music that I couldn’t finish due to my old set-up being inadequate. This time round it’s my fault. Thanks in advance.

In order to hear them on the computer, you would have to set up an audio input object in the environment and point the input to the audio in of the computer. And, yes, you would need a hook up your keyboard's audio out to the computer's analog audio input (as opposed to the digital in).
However, this is rather kludgy because if you plan to do anything else, such as vocals, you are going to be unplugging and plugging stuff in, due to the fact that you will only have one audio input. I definitely suggest you get yourself an audio interface with multiple inputs. There are plenty available for a good price that will hook into the firewire slot (a PCIe interface for you may be overkill in this case). This will allow you to properly monitor your keyboard output while doing other things within Logic, such as recording other audio such as vocals.

  • Logic Pro 8: No sound from keyboard

    Hello All,
I bought myself a copy of Logic Pro 7 a while back and have been struggling with what I'm sure is a simple problem, I just don't know the answer to it. I've tried the Tutoral song to learn the basics. When I select an instrument in Logic and play my keyboard, there's no sound. I can see the MIDI note events in the transport bar, if I open environment window I can see the on-screen keyboard responding to my external keyboard when I play its keys.
I'm assuming I have some setting wrong somewhere, because according to the manual I should just be able to select an instrument and start playing. I hear playback of the tutoral song fine, I have a copy of NI B4 that I can play with no problem, iTunes plays through my interface... M-Audio Firewire Audiophile
I tried everything suggested in the Logic 7 troubleshooting guide on the Apple support website to no avail.
    Stumped...

This should really be in the Logic Pro 7 forum, not Logic 8, but let's overlook that for now..
You probably simply had a regular MIDI track selected, which sends MIDI out to external instruments (which it sounds like you don't have).
If you want to play Logic instruments, you must select an "Audio Instrument" track, and then load the instrument plugin you want to play in it's input slot (say, the EVP88). Now, your MIDI notes will play that instrument.

  • Problem with hearing sounds from macbook air, through earphones.

This happened just recently, my mac won't "send" sounds or music to my iphone earplugs. What to do?

did you put your Air to sleep with headphones attached, or closed the monitor with phones attached?
Do not sleep your Air (close the monitor with headphones attached) with headphones attached, this is known to affect some Air under Mavericks.
      * this occurrence is being looked into.
Much testing on my own and others as well show that, in some instances, this occurs in Mavericks.
If you choose you may contact Apple for an appt and diagnostics.
However as said, refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved
    Test this and re-verify
    peace

  • Unable to select sounds from Sound Effects file

Hi, Please help.  I am using a MacBook Pro - OS X 10.6.7 Mid 2009  (I am NOT a pro!)  I cannot seem to change my alert sounds.  I have changed my selection from "Glass" to "Basso" for example, but it will only play my previous selected sound? i.e Glass.  The same applies to my Skype ring tone, I would like to hear the Original Skype incoming ring tone, and it is on the list as "incoming call" which I select  (once selected it plays the correct sound) but then when I close the Select an alert sound  window, it reverts back to the "glass" alert sound??  What am I doing wrong?? Your help is much appreciated.  Thanks

What happens if you log in as another user and try there?
If they work ok, there, something is munged in your primary account.
You can try checking drive health with Disk Utility/First Aid, but more than likely there is a software conflict I think - if you can't find it, you may consider reinstalling the OS.
If this is beyond you, walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask the staff there for assistance.
    Good luck in any case.

  • Unable to get sound from earphone Jack HP G60 348 CA

I have an HP G60 348 CA, Originaly Vista , upgraded to Windows 7- 64 bit.
Even when I plug in earphones or speakers in jack sound only comes out on the notebook speakers. Is this more likely a hardware problem or a software problem. Used to work fine and then nothing.
    What do you recommend?
I only see speakers and HDMI in playback devices. No other items. I used to have many things on the mixer and now I only see device column and applications column.
Also I do not see and cannot reinstall Realtek program if it has something to do with all this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey paucoin,
I'm sorry you're running into this audio issue. This seems like a software problem. There are a couple of things you can try.
In Playback Devices, which item listed is the Default (has the green checkmark)? Try setting Speakers as the default by selecting it and clicking the Set Default button.
You can also uninstall and reinstall the Audio driver.
    1. Click the Start button
    2. Type 'device'
    3. Click Device Manager
    3. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    4. Double-click on Realtek Audio to open Properties
    5. Click the Driver tab and let me know what version number is shown there.
    6. Click the Uninstall button and when prompted, Restart.
The computer will restart and Windows will detect and reinstall the missing driver on its own. Let me know the driver version number and the results of those steps when you get a chance
