Unable to mount ext4 filesystem (created from Ubuntu) in Solaris 11

Hello everyone,
I am trying to mount an ext4 filesystem which I created from Ubuntu. But mount command fails saying:
prakhar@Solaris:~$ sudo mount /dev/dsk/c10t0d0p1 /mnt
Password:
mount: /dev/dsk/c10t0d0p1 is not this fstype
And I also tried this:
prakhar@Solaris:~$ fstyp /dev/dsk/c10t0d0p1
unknown_fstyp (cannot open device)
Can anybody tell me how can I mount a ext4 filesystem in Solaris 11?

Thanks @Nik for your fast reply, but still its not solving my problem.
I don't want any out of the box support.
What I want is to access my ext4 filesystem.
Any open source package will do.

  • Unable to save a PDF created from a secure webpage in Acrobat X

    Hi,
Our Acrobat X standard won't 'save' or 'save as' PDFs created from a password secured website. Same symptom on two machines here. Other PDFs work fine.
The workflow we're using is opening acrobat, selecting create pdf from website, and then specifying a website with an https address and entering a username and password to access the site. This generates a pdf which looks great, all the links work etc... but when you click 'save as,' absolutely nothing happens. You're left just looking at your PDF with no save window or anything opening.
This gets done every day in the office here. I suspect the latest update may have caused the issue?

    Hi Bill@VT,
    Thanks for your reply!
I checked document properties and security is off. I've also unticked "Enhanced Security" under Security (Enhanced) in the Edit > Preferences menu.
This issue is only affecting our acrobat 10 and acrobat 11 users. I still have a couple acrobat 9 users here and they're unaffected.
The Save As button is not greyed out -- it's available but clicking on it just closes the file menu and does not open the save as dialog box.

  • I am unable to open PDF files created from another PGM.

Is there an ADOBE pgm that will properly read in PDF files created from another pgm and convert them to ADOBE PDF so they do not error when they are opened to be viewed by ADOBE pgm?

There is no way to know all the different scan/fax/pdf printers that are used to make the original PDFs...
CAD-KAS PDF Editor 2.6 is used to edit the files
doPDF 5 is used to modify pdf file.
Interesting, I can use the free CAD-KAS PDF reader to open & read the PDF file that the ADOBE XI reader
gives me the above error message.

Hi KT and thanks for your response.
I put together a separate test app that simply uses a single delegate for multiple animations and kicks off subsequent animations from animationDidStop when prior animations complete - this app works correctly. So, I dug around a bit in my original code and at first, it seemed I had some issue with the calculation of the second animation's duration. But the app was still behaving erratically. So I did a Clean on my build and everything now works as I expected - all animations play in succession!
While I recognize the limited resources of a mobile device environment, as you mentioned, given the VERY simple nature of the animations I'm doing – simple layer position changes – I'm certain the iPhone is more than capable of doing what I need here. Even the MoveMe core animation example does more.
Even so, once my dev registration is complete, I do intend on fully testing everything on my iPhone as I never trust emulators.
    Thanks again.

  • [SOLVED] gparted performance - creating ext4 filesystem takes forever

17 hours have passed since i issued creation of new partition(150GB) with ext4 filesystem on it using newest version of gparted.
Does it really takes that long? Is it normal?
Because i have no way of telling whether it does anything at the moment. All i see on  gui is the let's call it "progress bar" swinging back and forth.
On the details i can see it's issuing mkfs.ext4 command but it's nowhere to be found using ps command.
Only gparted and gpartedbin are running but they have 0 CPU usage according to top cmd.

NotFromBrooklyn wrote:Something must have failed. The largest partition I remember creating manually was 80 GB and it took me less than I need to finish a coffee cup.
Yep it seemed strange to me that it's THAT slow i just needed someone's confirmation, thanks. I killed the whole process and the partition is there with ext4 filesystem prepared but i quess it won't be a good idea to assume it has been set up properly. There's already 2.54GB marked as used for some reason.
I'll try to recreate filesystem from some livecd environment.
graysky wrote:...are you resizing a partition and then making a new one?
Nah no resizing, only one operation. I was just organizing my 2nd sata II hdd space to serve as backup for my original System from where i was using gparted to create new partitions on that disk.

  • Why does iTunes/iPhone 4S insist it can't find a song on my PC or my phone when it is on both? This is resulting in me being unable to use the ringtones I created from these songs, but I can still play the songs.

OK, so I'm clearly a newb. I thought if I asked a question, it would post, and now I'm being told to post a comment, so I'm asking the same question again. Sorry I sound like an idiot. I'm new to this apple/mac stuff.
Why does iTunes/iPhone 4S insist it can't find a song on my PC or my phone when it is on both? This is resulting in me being unable to use the ringtones I created from these songs, but I can still play the songs.

If you have added the ringtone file correctly to iTunes, it will appear under iTunes 'Tones' library.
If you don't find Tones library in iTunes, go to iTunes menu EDIT/PRFERENCES under GENERAL tab, check the Tones Box under Library source to display Tones library in iTunes.
iTunes accepts only m4r file as ringtone and has to be less than 40secs.

I can open Acrobat XI and select "Create from Scanner". Yes, I have the latest version of Acrobat.  Clicking on "Update" tells me there are no updates available.

  • Unable to create from an image

    Hi,
First use of Kuler/Color CC. 'm logged in, but I cannot get the 'Create from image' function to work - I've tried uploading a number of images as a jpg, gif, bmp, png, but on each occasion I get the 'Selected file type is not supported' message. Is there something I've been overlooking? Any advice gratefully received.
    Nick

    Hi musti168,
You're going through your entire image pixel-by-pixel and getting each of their values - why don't you just use the IMAQ ImageToArray function?
On this forum post I found an example of IMAQ ArrayToImage: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/IMAQ-arraytoimage-example/td-p/68418
You can use some of the IMAQ Image Processing palette to change the image to gray scale - possibly a threshold.

Ok, I still have that fail during the 'Mounting Local Filesystems'.

  • Unable to mkfs.ext4 - in use by system

    Hi,
I created 3 logical partitions on my laptop using cfdisk and booted the arch dual installer using a usb drive. I then try to
    mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda6
which is my / partition and I get the following message
/dev/sda6 is apparently in use by the system; will not make a filesystem here!
Since I booted via USB I don't see how this could be true. Any help would be great! Also I did search but couldn't find anything. This is going to be a dual boot system with windows 7.
Update: I created partitions with both cfdisk and fdisk and it made no difference. Still unable to mkfs.ext4 and even mkswap
    Thanks!

Did you make sure the partition was NOT mounted before running the command? Also you could try using GParted (various Live CDs available) for creating partitions and formatting.

  • Unable to wipe ZFS partition table from the disk

I used an SD card as part of a zfs zpool made of three SD cards, without partition table. ZFS was managing the entire devices, not just partitions.
I subsequently retired this zpool but did not run “zpool destroy”. This worked for two of the cards, but it seems as if one of the SD cards just can’t shake the zfs_member marker, no matter what I do.
So far I tried multiple times, on several different machines (including two without ZOL installed, so zfs cache file is not an issue here):
    1. dd the entire device with zeros. Four times.
    2. zpool labelclear -f /dev/sdc
    3. create new msdos partition table in gparted and fdisk
    4.
    $ mkfs.btrfs -f /dev/sdc
    $ mount /dev/sdc /mnt/usb
    mount: unknown filesystem type 'zfs_member'
Unable to wipe ZFS partition table from the disk
    5. Windows format and Partition Minitools windows equivalent of gparted.
As you can see, none of those methods wrote over the zfs data. It remains intact and invulnerable to anything I tried.
I am out of ideas. It looks like google is out of ideas, too.

Yeah, somehow while writing the first post I missed that wipefs also does absolutely nothing.

  • BTRFS not mounting (unknown filesystem type)

    Hi everyone,
From a USB drive I have been trying to install Arch in the fashion given in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … Btrfs_root, I have upgraded the system to the newest kernel (3.3.6) and using the instructions created 2 partitions on /dev/sda. One being for Grub to boot the system, and the other being the btrfs.
I have been unable to mount the btrfs device (/dev/sda2), I keep getting the error
    [root@archiso ~]# mount -o defaults,noatime /dev/sda2 /mnt/btrfs-root
    mount: unknown filesystem type 'btrfs'
mount, i.e. util-linux is the newest version 2.21.1
    any help is really appreciated

Well, I think the problem is caused by the loaded kernel being unable to find it's modules (the btrfs module included) because they got uninstalled when you upgraded the kernel package. You could try manually loading the module with modprobe (using -f if you get errors regarding versions), but I can't recommend that course of action, nor can I guarantee that it will fix your mounting problem.
