  • Faxes can be sent by one user, not another

I haven't used the internal modem in my PowerBook for faxing until now, so I don't know if this problem is new in Leopard...
I have a dedicated phone line connected to the modem. I can use it to dial up a client's modem with no problem. I can receive faxes (saved to the Shared Faxes folder). I can send faxes from two of the accounts (one that's an admin, one that's a normal user), but I can't fax from my own account (a normal user).
    Any ideas?

It will depend on how you are trying to send it.  How are you sending it?

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand you're unable to receive faxes on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw.  I would like to assist you with this.   Thanks for the comprehensive run-down on your setup - that helps a lot.  With cable internet connections sometimes a filter is required for the fax receiving function to work, yet, I do have some suggestions you can try in troubleshooting the issue.   Firstly, I recommend you adjust your fax speed to slow:  Touch the wrench/Setup buttonSelect Fax SetupSelect Fax SpeedChoose slow(User Guide, p. 129) Additionally, I recommend clicking on your printer's icon on your PC desktop and running the fax test portion of the fax wizard to determine if there's another factor contributing to the receive failure.  You might find this article helpful as well.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post. Have a great day,

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @pasma ,
I read about the issues you are having with saving your faxes on your desktop. I noticed you mentioned you had created a file. I would suggest creating a folder instead and that should help with the saving problem!
Let me know how that goes for you, have a great Wednesday

  • Cannot send/receive Fax through Windows Fax and Scan

Having a problem with Windows Fax and Scan on Small Business Server 2011 Standard SP1.  When I call the fax number, I can see the line ringing in the Fax Status Monitor, but it errors out with "The incoming call cannot be answered as a fax
call".  I've also tried sending and receive an error: "No dial tone was detected"  I've connected a regular phone to the line and placed an outside call and received a call from an outside line.  No errors are logged in Event
Viewer, but If I check the Server Roles, Fax Server shows Event ID 32092, 32032 and 32031
Troubleshooting so far has consisted of:
    Restarting Fax service
Removing/Readding the Fax Account in Windows Fax and Scan
Checked Print Spooler and Fax queue for held documents to clear (none)
Uninstalled/reinstalled the fax modem in Device Manager
Run Windows Update(several security updates pending)
Checked the DeviceToMonitor key in HKCU to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fax\UserInfo matches the DeviceName key in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax (at one point it did not match)
Removing/Readding the Fax Role.  In the process, also removing registry keys: HKLM_SOFTWARE_MICROSOFT_FAX, HKCU_Software_Microsoft_Fax, HKLM_SOFTWARE_Microsoft_Windows_CurrentVersion_Telephony_CountryList, HKLM_SOFTWARE_Microsoft_Windows_CurrentVersion_Telephony_Locations.
At one point or another, I have already reviewed the following links:

  • Receiving Faxes to Computer

I just purchased a new Computer with Windows 8.1. I hooked up my M1212 Printer which I love and has worked great for the past few years, downloaded drivers and everything seemed fine.  I was unable to find my CD that came with printer when I purchased it, so I downloaded the software for the printer online to get the HP Toolbox for it.
I had difficulty finding the tool box downloaded  (finally did after much searching as I am unfamiliar with windows 8), it does not look like the previous one for XP which I guess is to be expected.
Now I am unable to find Faxes that are sent to my computer. I originally was able to fax to my Windows XP computer to My Faxes file.
My Fax file is empty and when I open up the tool box I found the file reports and see the faxes incoming, but in the column of Fax Images there is no view fax tab.
I can reprint the fax that came in, but sometimes the information is clearer on the computer screen than what prints, so I prefer sometimes to receive them to my computer.
Am I missing something to get my printer to work as well as it did with my XP Computer.  I have my printer hooked up to my desktop with a USB cable, I also have it hooked up to my modem for eprinting which I never knew I could do.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You.

  • Does Tiger need Fax software to send and receive faxes?

I need an inexpensive way to receive faxes. I will be buying a usb modem, likely the Apple modem. Do I need to also purchase fax software or does Tiger make it possible to send and receive faxes?

I found out from another query that yes I can send and receive faxes by going to the Print/Fax icon in System Preferences.

  • Office Pro 8000: Can't Print/Out of Ink Error even after installing new cartridge.

When I tried to use my printer a few days ago, I received a "Can't Print: Out of Ink" error message concerning the magenta cartridge.  I had used the printer a few days before that, and had not received a low ink warning.  It seemed suspicious to me that I would have received an empty cartridge error message without first receiving a low cartridge warning.  The yellow and cyan cartridges read 70% full - all 3 were original cartridges.
I purchased a new 940XL magenta cartridge and installed it per instructions.  Now I am getting a message that the new 940XL cartridge is empty.  I can shake the old 940 cartridge and hear liquid inside.  Obviously, the new cartridge is also full.  I've tried cycling power, reinstalling the software, etc, with no change in status.  If I swap back and forth between the old 940 and new 940XL cartridge, they are properly identified by type on my screen as the 940 or 940XL.  Due to the way the problem has presented itself, I don't believe it is a cartridge issue.
Of course, problem first arouse on May 8th, and my warrantee expired April 26th.  Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I've solved my own problem, which was clearly a factory assembly defect.  I looked inside my printer with a flashlight in the area where the ink cartridges are installed, and found magenta ink sprayed inside the printer.  I disassembled the printer, and found that the magenta line had been damaged during assembly.  There are four ink tubes which exit from behind the ink cartridges, then make a U turn back toward the front of the printer.  Just after the U turn, they make another bend up-wards.  It is at this point that I found the damaged magenta line, directly above a screw on the right-hand side of the ink cartridge housing.  The lines are in a very narrow passage, and are held in place by several keepers molded out of plastic.  It appears that the lines were put in place in the keepers, then the screw inserted from above.  As I said, it is a very tight passage, and it would be very easy to damage the ink line at that point if the lines weren't carefully held back to insert the screw during assembly.
To solve the problem, I removed approximately 1/4 inch of damaged magenta ink line.  I carefully cut the line with a sharp razor, to prevent collapsing the line or causing burrs to the tubing.  I then placed about 3/4" of self-sealing heat shrink tubing over one end of the ink line.  Next I spliced the line with a small piece of stiff plastic tubing from the handle of a cotton swab, which was a perfect, snug fit over the ink line.  Being careful not to collapse the ink tube or cause further damage, I gently twisted the ink line back and forth until the ends were butted up inside the cotton swab splice.  I then positioned the heat-shrink tubing over the splice, and shrunk it with a hair dryer.  The heat-shrink tubing I used has hot-melt glue applied to the inside, which further aided in making a leak-proof splice.  Again, there is not a lot of room, so the splice had to be kept small.
I reassembled the printer, reinstalled the ink cartridges, and powered up the printer.  After the normal, long start-up delay, I printed several full-color test sheets, and all was fine.  The magenta cartridge that I had installed previously now shows that it is full, and the remaining cartridges also read the levels that they had prior to disassembly.

    Hello there @51823MollyP!
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I should be able to provide some help regarding the fax feature on the Officejet 4630.  Depending if your phone line is digital or analog will depend on the configuration of the fax portion of the printer.
I was able to located a document regarding Cannot Send or Receive Faxes.  I suggest following the document to ensure your fax machine is configured correctly and using the correct type of phone cable.
Let me know if this document helped resolve your issue.  Thank you again for posting on the HP Forums!

well, it really makes me getting mad. I can't sent out any instant message to my friend, i thought that is my question so i just uninstall it and re-install it again, still useless.

    this["m"+i]
    or even more correctly...
    this["m"+String(i)]
